Ripple (XRP) value blows up, bypasses Ethereum's market cap
Ripple explodes in value, has a market cap of $84 billion.
While the world is concentrating on Bitcoin, Ripple (XRP) mooned over the last 48 hours from its near-$1 to a new record high price of $2.23 on Friday afternoon.
XRP commanded a market cap of $86.3 billion, passing Ethereum and its $73 billion market cap, while Bitcoin is still far and ahead with $247 billion or so. CoinMarketCap tracks the price of cryptocurrencies, reporting that Ripple accounted for 12.5% of the crypto market cap, while Ethereum accounted for around 12.1% of the market.
Ripple was worth less than 1c back in 2016 and reached $1 last week before jumping right up and above $2 on Friday, meaning it has skyrocketed by over 34,700% in 2017.
