ASUS's all-white PRIME Radeon RX 9070 XT is missing a few things that would make it perfect

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | Sep 3, 2025 1:56 AM CDT

With the release of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 Series and AMD's latest Radeon RX 9000 Series, ASUS introduced its new and revamped PRIME GPU design, serving as the company's more affordable and compact RGB-free option. That said, you've still got fantastic build quality, overclocking capabilities, and performance.

ASUS's all-white PRIME Radeon RX 9070 XT is missing a few things that would make it perfect

As highlighted in recent reviews of a couple of ASUS PRIME GPUs (the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB), the triple-fan 2.5-slot design is compact enough to be SFF-ready - so it's the sort of GPU perfect for all builds. And for those with an all-white rig or looking at white-colored components, the ASUS PRIME RADEON RX 9070 XT White Edition appears to be a fantastic choice.

Here, the all-white Axial-Tech fans and subtle grey Radeon and other logos look incredibly sleek and modern. A minimal sci-fi look that is more aesthetically pleasing than the stealthier all-black model. That said, there are a few design choices (or lack thereof) that make it fall short of being an absolutely stand-out White Edition graphics card.

NVIDIA reportedly reducing supply of its 8GB RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti GPUs

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | Sep 2, 2025 10:28 PM CDT

According to reports on the Board Channels forum (via VideoCardz), NVIDIA is reducing the supply of its 8GB desktop GPUs in the GeForce RTX 50 Series to maintain a healthy balance between supply and demand.

NVIDIA reportedly reducing supply of its 8GB RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti GPUs

According to the report, NVIDIA is reducing the supply of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GPU by around 15%, with the GeForce RTX 5060's supply to be cut by 30%. Board Channels is a Chinese forum where several pieces of inside information from NVIDIA's partners have been discovered in recent years, especially in relation to topics such as GPU availability, stock levels, and production delays.

When it comes to the new RTX Blackwell generation, NVIDIA's two 8GB models for the desktop PC gaming market have been the most controversial. This boils down to the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 being limited to 8GB of fast GDDR7 memory, which is widely viewed as a limitation for the long-term viability of these GPUs for playing the latest games.

RTX 5060 surges ahead in Steam Charts while RDNA 4 is still missing in action

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | Sep 2, 2025 10:04 PM CDT

The latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey results for August 2025 are in, and based on the latest data, the most popular GPUs from the current generation of hardware are the GeForce RTX 50 series, specifically the GeForce RTX 5070 and the GeForce RTX 5060. Now, based on previous generations of GeForce graphics cards, this is unsurprising; however, with the RTX 5060 rapidly moving up the chart of most popular GPUs among PC gamers, it's clear that mainstream RTX Blackwell is popular.

RTX 5060 surges ahead in Steam Charts while RDNA 4 is still missing in action

The latest results also reflect NVIDIA's comments from its recent financial results for fiscal Q2 2026, where it stated that the GeForce RTX 5060 has become the "fastest-ramping x60-class GPU ever" for the company. Looking at the top 25 discrete GPUs for PC gaming (check out the full list below), the GeForce RTX 5060 is already in the number 24 spot, with the GeForce RTX 5070 sitting in number 17.

NVIDIA's full GeForce RTX 50 Series lineup is present in the Steam Hardware & Software Survey results for August 2025; however, AMD's new RDNA 4-powered Radeon RX 9000 Series is still a no-show.

Microsoft's VibeVoice uses AI to create 90-minute podcasts with multiple speakers

Kosta Andreadis | Artificial Intelligence | Sep 2, 2025 9:32 PM CDT

Microsoft's new open-source text-to-voice generative AI tool, VibeVoice, is an interesting one, as it can generate audio of up to 90 minutes in length with four distinct speakers. Naturally, with a script, VibeVoice becomes a viable tool for creating an audio podcast or other "expressive, long-form, multi-speaker conversational audio."

Microsoft's VibeVoice uses AI to create 90-minute podcasts with multiple speakers

With there already being quite a few AI-powered Text-to-Speech (TTS) systems and tools, what separates VibeVoice from the pack is its ability to maintain and preserve audio fidelity, speaker consistency, and "natural turn-taking" over an extended period.

"VibeVoice employs a next-token diffusion framework, leveraging a Large Language Model (LLM) to understand textual context and dialogue flow, and a diffusion head to generate high-fidelity acoustic details," the official description reads. VibeVoice offers a live demo for you to check out, along with the option to download it.

Vampire Survivors-like Halls of Torment breaks 1 million sales, coming to PlayStation and Xbox

Indie hit Halls of Torment is heading to consoles after a successful run on Steam, where the stylish battler amassed a noteworthy 1 million sales. Developer Chasing Carrots is planning a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launch alongside a new paid DLC expansion, the Boglands.

The game is a unique mixture of Diablo's isometric visuals and old-school pixellated style with the frenzied, bullet-hell chaos found in games like Vampire Survivors. Players go on 30-minute runs and essentially try to survive, collecting loot and gold in the process. The entire genre is an iteration on the classic starship games you'd find in video game arcades in the 1980s.

Samsung to test the waters with 50,000 units of its next-gen tri-foldable smartphone

Anthony Garreffa | Mobile Devices | Sep 2, 2025 7:07 PM CDT

Samsung will be testing the market with a limited quantity launch of its upcoming tri-fold smartphone with just 50,000 units, so that it doesn't take too much of the foldable success away from its Galaxy Z Fold 7, and that it keeps a confident glare at Apple which is preparing a foldable iPhone for 2026.

Samsung to test the waters with 50,000 units of its next-gen tri-foldable smartphone

In a new report we're hearing that Samsung Electronics has decided on making over 50,000 of its new double-folding (tri-fold) smartphone, with mass production preparations using the related materials with component supplies. Samsung will unveil its new tri-fold smartphone -- rumored as the Galaxy G Fold -- as early as next month, with a launch in November.

50,000 isn't many at all, and if we rewind the clock back to Samsung's first foldable, the Galaxy Fold which released in 2019, the company made 500,000 units. It has been popular enough over the years leading up to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, selling millions and millions of foldable smartphones in that time.

No Man's Sky hits 98,000 players on Steam, highest player count since launch

The latest free Voyagers update helps ignite No Man's Sky 24-hour player count to the highest point since the game's release.

No Man's Sky hits 98,000 players on Steam, highest player count since launch

Hello Games just released the new huge Voyagers expansion for No Man's Sky, and interstellar space adventurers are returning to the game en masse to check out the update. The influx of players is so large that Sean Murray took notice; No Man's Sky hit a 24-hour peak of 98,285 players on Steam on September 1, which is second only to the massive 212K players that the game achieved at launch.

The reason for this massive spark in players is two-fold. No Man's Sky is currently on sale for $24, sweetening the allure of jumping into the game; and the Voyagers expansion was so substantial that it attracted both new and returning players. Voyagers essentially lets players create and build their own custom starships while also commanding a crew with other players, adding a new level of online interactivity within the game.

Apple's foldable iPhone: no under-display fingerprint sensor, but side-mounted Touch ID sensor

Anthony Garreffa | Mobile Devices | Sep 2, 2025 6:06 PM CDT

Apple will reportedly not be using an under-display fingerprint sensor for its new foldable iPhone, and in its place the foldable iPhone will use a side-mounted Touch ID button.

Apple's foldable iPhone: no under-display fingerprint sensor, but side-mounted Touch ID sensor

In a new post by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has posted on X explaining: "Six months ago, I predicted the foldable iPhone would use side-button Touch ID. There are now market rumors that it will adopt an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, but I think that's unlikely. It's expected that Luxshare ICT will supply the side-button Touch ID module for the foldable iPhone".

This makes sense given that Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone will be exactly like Samsung's successful and multiple generations of foldable Galaxy smartphones -- the most recent being the Galaxy Z Fold 7 -- where the book-style foldable has not one, but two displays. This means that Apple would need under-display fingerprint sensors on both the outer display, and another under-display fingerprint sensor when the foldable iPhone is unfolded.

A new Resident Evil movie is in the works with Weapons director Zach Cregger at the helm. Over the past few months, Cregger has revealed a few details about the pacing and tone of the movie, and how it aims to stay authentic to the mood of the games. In a recent interview with YouTuber Double Toasted, Cregger says the new zombie flick will make viewers feel like they're actually playing the games--something that's probably only possible if you're a die-hard fan, which Cregger is.

"I'm a huge fan of the games. Now, I've never seen a Resident Evil movie. I imagine if there are people out there that are rabid fans of the movie franchise, they're probably not really prepared for what I'm going to be doing. But I think the people who are fans of the games are probably going to be stoked," the horror maven said.

The next-gen Xbox could cost TWICE as much as the PlayStation 6, and here's why

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Sep 2, 2025 5:05 PM CDT

The next-gen Xbox could cost TWICE as much as the PlayStation 6, and here's why

In a new post on the NeoGAF forums by leaker "Kepler_L2" we're hearing that the next-gen Xbox could be significantly more expensive than the PS6, and that the potential support for third-party stores that would drain a 30% cut of every game sold on the system going to Microsoft would be gone.

We've previously heard that AMD is working on custom chips for Microsoft that wouldn't just be used for the next-gen Xbox console, but new pre-built Xbox gaming PCs and gaming handhelds. What is new here is that only the Xbox console would be offering backward compatibility, which is mostly due to publishers not being happy with the idea of an Xbox game license being turned into a PC game license.

Capcom thinks PS5s are becoming too expensive

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 2, 2025 3:33 PM CDT

Capcom has acknowledged that the PlayStation 5's price hikes have impacted its business outlook, reducing the amount of people that will buy its games.

Capcom thinks PS5s are becoming too expensive

Sony's latest-generation PS5 is the most profitable PlayStation console in existence--the company routinely talks about how PS5 players are worth more than PS4 users. That's because the PS5 generation is much more expensive than prior console timelines, with $550 consoles, $70 games, $150+ yearly subscriptions, and $200 premium controllers.

Game publishers are taking notice of these prices and are deeming them somewhat prohibitive; the PS5 has become so expensive that it's affecting Capcom's outlook. The console market wasn't growing before, how can it grow in terms of players if it becomes too expensive? Capcom doesn't have immediate worries--Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak sold 10 million copies at launch.

Blizzard sues Turtle WoW emulator for 'egregious' copyright infringement

Blizzard sues Turtle WoW emulator for 'egregious' copyright infringement

It's official: Blizzard is suing the collective of developers behind Turtle WoW, a program that allows gamers to experience the classic, early versions of MMORPG World of Warcraft. In the 49-page legal complaint, Blizzard says that the Turtle WoW servers are unauthorized, illegal servers, and make the case that the emulator also "undermines Blizzard's own efforts to deliver classic and community-driven content."

Blizzard refers to Turtle WoW as a "pirated software product" because the developers not only use Blizzard's trademarks and copyrighted materials in the software itself, but also included a custom fan-made creation in the files. Blizzard says this creation is "infringing" on their IP rights.

Dying Light: The Beast PC specs confirmed: nothing too dramatic

Dying Light: The Beast PC specs confirmed: nothing too dramatic

The PC specifications have appeared on the store listings for the upcoming title, with the official Steam Store listing for the game stating players will need at least a NVIDIA GeForce 1060 / AMD Radeon 5500 XT / Intel ARC A750, along with an Intel i5-13400F / AMD Ryzen 7 5800F. There is a minimum requirement of 16GB of RAM, and at least 70GB of free storage space. Honestly, that isn't too bad considering the minimum requirements for some modern AAA titles.

Moving up to the recommended specifications, players will need a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 TI / AMD Radeon 6750 XT / Intel ARC B580 graphics card, paired with at least an Intel i5-13400F / AMD Ryzen 7 7700 processor. Notably, Dying Light: The Beast requires an SSD. But what if you wanted to push the game to its highest graphical settings? Such as 4K 60FPS? Or even 4K 60FPS at Ultra settings? TSMC responds to rumor that NVIDIA CEO's visit was about revenue sharing with the US

NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang recently visited TSMC where he discussed internal company matters, but also delivered a message to the semiconductor manufacturer that TSMC may have to share revenue with the Trump administration.

TSMC responds to rumor that NVIDIA CEO's visit was about revenue sharing with the US

That was the rumor, but according to a new report from FocusTaiwan that has cited a response from TSMC, that information wasn't correct at all, and that no such suggestion was made by Huang. The rumor is an extension of the deal President Trump made for American chip manufacturers on exporting chips to China, which was to pay 15% of the revenue made on selling chips to China to the US government. The trade deal focused on companies such as NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel.

That trade deal has yet to be written in stone. Then a report by the Taiwanese outlet CNA was published that claimed NVIDIA's CEO traveled to Taiwan to inform the chip giant it may need to share its revenue from China chips as well, which would essentially bring TSMC in on the deal with the American chip makers. However, according to the recent report from FocusTaiwan, that doesn't seem to be true. TSMC has dismissed the rumor, and said Huang was invited to the headquarters to give a speech and participate in the birthday celebration for TSMC founder Morris Chang.

Premium HDR has been led by Dolby Vision, but now the new generation has been unveiled with Dolby Laboratories unveiling Dolby Vision 2, and the numerous improvements that will come with the new standard.

Next-generation HDR announced, Dolby Vision 2 introduces a world first

In a new press release released by Dolby, it's explained that Dolby Vision 2 is powered by a new powerful image engine that has been combined with Dolby's already extensive content ecosystem. Dolby Vision 2 comes with "Content Intelligence," which is a new tool that enables Dolby Vision 2 to authentically and automatically optimize a TV to produce a much clearer and vibrant image. For example, Content Intelligence includes Precision Black, which increases images that consumers regularly say are "too dark," but without compromising the artistic intent of the image.

It also features Light Sense, which fine-tunes picture quality through ambient light detection and new reference lighting data. This feature optimizes the TV for the best viewing experience possible. Content Intelligence also includes Sports and Gaming Optimization, which introduces new enhancements such as white point adjustments and motion control designed specifically for sports and gaming. Furthermore, Content Intelligence introduces bi-directional tone mapping, enabling TVs to deliver higher brightness, sharper contrast, and deeply saturated colors.
