The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that a Boeing 737-200 cargo plane has crashed off the coast of Hawaii.

According to a report from CNBC, the FAA has confirmed that the Transair Flight 810 was forced to make an emergency landing in the ocean near Honolulu at 1:30 a.m. local time on Friday after the pilots reported engine problems. The U.S. Coast Guard has said that both pilots were rescued from the plane and taken to hospital. One survivor was seen on the end of the tail of the aircraft, and the other was found floating on packages in the water. "The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate", said the FAA.

The U.S. Coast Guard said that Transair Flight 810 took off from Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and was on its way to Kahului Airport on Maui. However, shortly after getting airborne engine 1 failed, according to the audio that the air traffic controller received. "Our situation: We lost number 1 engine, and we're coming straight to the airport. There's a chance we're going to lose the other engine. It's running very hot."

NASA has dropped another incredible image that was snapped with the Hubble Space Telescope, and this time we have an awesome display of the red, white, and blue.

The above image was taken with Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3, and is the open star cluster named NGC 330. This star cluster is around 180,000 light-years away from Earth and is situated in the Small Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Tucana.

As for the stars themselves, they are all roughly the same age, and due to the cluster featuring so many stars, astronomers are using NGC 330 to learn more about how stars form. Astronomers have observed clusters of stars forming differently when compared to stars located anywhere else, a phenomenon that was first discovered using Hubble.

After two years of fighters, story updates, and a next-gen port, NetherRealm is totally finished with Mortal Kombat 11 and is looking to its next game.

NetherRealm today confirmed it's now focusing exclusively on its next unannounced project. Mortal Kombat 11's development and future content has ended, the devs said. The studio didn't confirm what it's working on, but fans speculate it could be Injustice 3--so far NetherRealm's development cadence has switched back and forth between Injustice and Mortal Kombat.

However, new job listings for NetherRealm suggest Mortal Kombat 12 is the next game. The studio is currently hiring a bunch of new talent, including a senior gameplay software engineer "to work as part of the programming team behind the Mortal Kombat franchise." These job listings were posted last month.

UPDATE: EA has issued the following statement regarding its PlayerWON advertising plans and confirms it has no plans to inject ads into console games:

"Following incorrect reports suggesting that we are looking to introduce 'TV-style' commercials into our games, we wanted to clarify that in-game advertising for console games is not something we're currently looking at, or have signed any agreements to implement. Creating the best possible player experience remains our priority focus."

The real-life Ad Buddy is here: EA is teaming up with an advertising platform to allow users to watch ads while playing games and earn in-game items.

EA Play Live is coming up this month on July 22, but BioWare won't be at the show.

Today BioWare confirmed that games like Dragon Age 4 and the new Mass Effect won't be at EA Play Live. The show will instead focus on games that are releasing in the more immediate future like Battlefield 2042, FIFA 22, Madden 22, and new Apex Legends content.

"We're hard at work creating the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect games and have some exciting stuff coming to Star Wars The Old Republic this year. We won't be showing anything at EA Play Live," BioWare said on Twitter.

Remedy Entertainment has revealed the last mystery game in its big slate of AAA projects: a new big-budget sequel to 2019's Control.

Remedy is very busy these days. The developer announced that it has two new Control games in the works: A fully-blown ambitious sequel, and a 4-player co-op PVE multiplayer spin-off game codenamed Condor, which will be exclusive to next-gen consoles and PC. This brings Remedy's total in-development pipeline up to 6 projects.

In a recent announcement, Remedy confirmed it will co-publish and co-finance both Condor and Control 2 with 505 Games: "505 Games and Remedy Entertainment have outlined high-level collaboration terms to further expand the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control-game, to be agreed in more detail in the future."

Doom Eternal's invasion mode has been cancelled, but id Software is adding something better.

While doing our Doom Eternal review I had one strong thought: "This game really needs a horde mode." Luckily id Software was apparently listening to my internal dialog. Today id's Marty Stratton confirmed Doom Eternal is getting a new super-punishing horde mode for singleplayer that will push players to their limits.

"We have decided to redirect our focus from Invasion Mode to creating a totally new singleplayer horde mode. We're confident this horde mode will offer you more of the diversity and challenge you're looking for in the game," Stratton said in a statement.

Facebook has reached another milestone in its history as a social media platform, as the company has closed above $1 trillion in market capitalization.

Facebook is now the fifth company in the United States to reach the milestone and will now join other companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Google's parent company Alphabet in the small circle. The increase in Facebook's value came after an antitrust complaint proposed by the US Federal Trade Commission was dismissed. This dismissal by the court caused Facebook's share price to close up 4.2% at $355.64.

In May 2012, Facebook debuted its IPO with a market cap of $104 billion, and in the following years, that number grew before it took a 19% drop in 2018 after a number of non-favorable news stories were published - Cambridge Analytica being the main one to note. Since July 27, 2018, Facebook has managed to increase its user base, and ultimately the amount of revenue it makes as a company, as its stock price has risen 90% since that July of 2018.

Video length on TikTok is what makes it fantastically easy to browse, but the days of 1-minute videos will soon come to an end as the company is implementing support for 3-minute videos.

Since last December, TikTok has been testing 3-minute videos with its top creators, and perhaps you may have come across one of the videos, as only a select amount of viewers were able to receive the videos. Now, TikTok has announced on its website that it will be rolling out the new feature to everyone "over the coming weeks".

It will be very interesting to see how this new feature is received and, in particular, how it will affect the much respected For You recommendation algorithm. Users that enjoy TikTok for its fast and short content guidelines may now experience an unwanted amount of recommended 3 minute long videos in their For You Page, essentially causing "clutter" in users once clean For You Page.

Amazon has put forward an official motion asking Lina Khan not to involve herself within any proceedings that involve Amazon on the basis of her past statement regarding the company.

Amazon has filed a recusal motion against the new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Commissioner Lina Khan, asking the new FTC chair to separate herself from any future regulatory proceedings involving the FTC and Amazon. "[Federal ethics rules] require recusal when a new Commissioner previously has expressed views that go beyond general policy commentary and has made statements about specific factual and legal issues relating to a particular company."

Adding, "Chair Khan has made numerous and highly detailed public pronouncements regarding Amazon, including on market definition, specific conduct and theories of harm, and the purpose, effects, and legality of such conduct. Indeed, she has on numerous occasions argued that Amazon is guilty of antitrust violations and should be broken up."

A prototype flying car has completed its very first city-to-city trip, paving the way forward for a potential new mode of transportation.

Slovakian engineers designed the Klien Vision AirCar and it features four wheels as a normal car would, but attached to it is propeller to give it propulsion, two retractable wings for stabilization, and a transforming tail that can change the AirCar from a seemingly suitable aircraft to a road-legal vehicle.

The recent test the AirCar cruised an altitude of 8,200 feet and traveled between the international airport in Nitra to the international airport in Bratislava where it then landed and converted into a driveable road-legal car. Engineers have equipped the AirCar with a 160 hp BMW engine that can ran reach a top airspeed of 118 mph, however, the AirCar will soon be getting upgraded to a 300 hp engine that will push the top air speed to 186 mph.

Acer has just announced that it is releasing firmware updates for their new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 gaming laptops, which drives up the TGP which will provide more performance while you're gaming.

TDP or Total Graphics Power, is how much power your GPU can use inside of the gaming laptop all on-the-fly. Acer's new BIOSes are being made available with increased TGPs for the Nitro 5, Helios 300, Triton 300, and the Triton 300 SE gaming laptops.

Acer isn't pushing huge power increases across every single GPU and gaming laptop, with TGP increases of between 5W and 30W. The 30W increase isn't going into the GeForce RTX 3080, but rather the GeForce RTX 3060-based gaming laptop from Acer.

ZADAK has just unveiled its new SPARK DDR5 memory, with the new gaming-focused DDR5 memory being made in both 16GB and 32GB capacities at speeds of up to DDR5-7200.

The new ZADAK SPARK DDR5 RAM will be made in speeds of between 4800MHz to 7200MHz with voltages of 1.1V and of course... RGB lighting. There'll be enough inside for people to tweak away and overclock the ZADAK SPARK DDR5 memory, with a white design that is really going to be installed into a very specific (white) motherboard (that doesn't even exist yet, because DDR5-capable motherboards aren't out yet).

Robinhood reached into its back pocket yesterday and paid a $70 million fine for "for systemic supervisory failures and significant harm suffered by millions of customers" but meanwhile, the company was stacking the walls with the cash it was making with Dogecoin.

Robinhood explained in its IPO filing that Dogecoin accounted for 34% of its cryptocurrency transaction-based revenue in Q1 2021, up from 30% in Q4 2020. Elon Musk celebrated the news with a new tweet, where he said "Release the Doge!" with a meme of the Godfather saying "You come to me at runtime. The IPO reveals that Robinhood has close to 18 million monthly active users, around $80 billion in assets under its management -- and that it bled out $1.5 billion in Q1 2021. So that $70 million fine yesterday... a drop in the bucket for Robinhood.

It looks like AMD could be working on an absolute stomping monster of a CPU with rumors that its next-gen codename Bergamo CPU rocking a huge 128 cores and 256 threads of Zen 4 processing power.

We did hear whispers of a 128-core, 256-thread EPYC CPU not too long ago now, up from the 96 cores and 192 threads expected on AMD's next-gen EPYC "Genoa" CPU. In that article, I explained: "new Zen 4-powered EPYC or Threadripper CPU with 128C/256T will also support up to 12-channel DDR5-5200 memory".

EA today announced its schedule for EA Play Live, confirming five pre-show events before the main showcase on July 22.

EA's first pre-show event will focus on the future of first-person shooters, and it's pretty obvious that Apex Legends and Battlefield 2042 will be the stars of this one. Before you get too excited, PR has confirmed that these shows will be more like panels, so expect DICE and Respawn developers to discuss Battlefield 2042 and Apex Legends details in a format similar to the recent Twitch stream.

Hideo Kojima and Microsoft have signed a preliminary agreement for a new game on Xbox, sources tell Venture Beat.

While neither Microsoft nor Kojima have yet to confirm their collaboration, the two recently signed a letter of intent saying they plant to work together, sources tell Venture Beat. This is basically a non-binding preliminary agreement that opens the door to an official publishing deal. Microsoft is apparently looking to publish Kojima's next game, and if an agreement is made, Microsoft will also offer resources to the project, which is likely to be Xbox exclusive.

Stadia veteran Kim Swift, who recently joined Microsoft's fledgling Project xCloud division, is said to be helping with negotiations. It's believed that Kojima's new Xbox game will be streamed over the cloud as new original content for Microsoft's Project xCloud service. A bit ago, Kojima pitched a game to Stadia, but Google passed on the project as it started winding down its game development operations.
