Battlefield 6 players will be able to jump into nine new gamemodes
It wasn't long ago that evidence surfaced of six new game modes in development for Battlefield 6, and now dataminers have discovered three additional modes, bringing the total to nine upcoming game modes.
It was in early October that dataminers discovered six new game modes hiding within Battlefield 6's game files, which would be additional modes to the currently available: Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Domination, King of the Hill, Team Deathmatch, and Squad Deathmatch. Within those files were names for new modes such as Sabotage and Strikepoint, both of which have been confirmed by Battlefield Studios to be on the way.
Of the original six discovered in files, Raid, Payload, Squad Shootout, and Tank Hunt are yet to be confirmed, but given how Sabotage and Strikepoint were recently confirmed, it lends an aura of legitimacy to the remaining six, which will seemingly eventually come to the game. But now we have three more game modes to expect, with Insider Gaming reporting that they have discovered Convoy, Fantastic Four, Gunmaster, Touchdown, and Tug of War.

NAND flash pricing for SSDs has doubled in six months, 2026 capacity already 'sold out'
According to Phison CEO Khein-Seng Pua, the severe shortage of NAND flash storage and SSDs has led to prices for TLC 1-terabit NAND doubling in the past six months from $4.80 USD to $10.70 USD. According to Phison's latest financial earnings, the company's October 2025 revenue increased by an impressive 90% year-over-year, driven by a substantial 280% rise in PCIe SSD controller shipments.
As we previously reported, this demand is driven by the AI boom, which is causing the industry as a whole to shift away from traditional hard-disk drives (HDDs) to faster solid-state drives (SSDs). Not to mention the expansion and creation of new data centers and hyperscale systems designed with AI performance and flash memory in mind.
Phison CEO Khein-Seng Pua previously stated that this demand could lead to a major issue with the supply of flash memory and SSDs, which could persist for at least a decade. His most recent comments reinforce this idea, with Khein-Seng Pua warning that new production capacity being built to handle the increased demand won't be online and operational until late 2027.
Controversial FPS game from the year 2000 gets RTX Remix path tracing mod
Long before it became a Call of Duty support studio, Raven Software released the well-received but controversial first-person shooter Soldier of Fortune in 2000. Built using id Software's Quake II engine, the game received considerable critical and even political backlash due to its GHOUL engine, which featured realistic violence and dismemberment of its human enemies.
Compared to the visual fidelity in modern FPS games, the blocky and chunky polygon characters of the original Soldier of Fortune look dated and a far cry from realistic. That said, as someone who played the game on a PC at the time, being able to blow off limbs with a shotgun was one of those 'whoa' moments that marked the transition of PC gaming to full 3D visuals and environments.
Fans of the original or those interested in the history of FPS games will be pleased to learn that modder 'Pathtraced Paradise' is working on an RTX Remix mod for Soldier of Fortune, which replaces in-game lighting with path tracing alongside physically based rendering for materials. According to the modder, it's "still very much a work in progress," which is evident in the following videos of the game's first two levels.
Samsung Galaxy S26 report: in-house Exynos 2600 for S26 base, Plus, Qualcomm chip for S26 Ultra
Samsung will only be powering its next-gen Galaxy S26 base and S26 Plus models with its in-house next-gen Exynos 2600 processor, while its flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
In a new report from Korean outlet Chosun, Samsung has made some changes to its Galaxy S26 lineup after rumors that said the company would be making a new Galaxy S26 Edge and not a new Galaxy S26 Plus, but after lackluster sales of the thinner S25 Edge, the plans for the S26 Edge were scrapped, and the S26 Plus will return.
A source that is familiar with Samsung said: "As the Edge was removed and the Plus model added, the hardware verification period lengthened and the launch was almost delayed, but this issue has been resolved, making a February launch next year possible".
Bethesda has hundreds of people working on at least three Fallout games
In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard confirmed that the bulk of the team behind Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield is currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6. Even though the highly anticipated release of Skyrim's follow-up is the primary focus and still a "long way off," Bethesda Game Studios also has hundreds of people working on Fallout games.
"We have hundreds of people on Fallout right now, with 76 and some other things we're doing, but The Elder Scrolls 6 is the everyday thing," Todd Howard responded when asked about what he's currently working on. With the Fallout franchise more popular than ever, thanks to the success of the live-action TV series, this confirms that multiple Fallout games are currently in active development.
With Fallout 76, which is set to receive a significant, and free, expansion called Burning Springs next month, probably taking up a sizable portion of the "hundreds of people," the "some other things" comment implies that there are at least three Fallout games currently being worked on. And one of these is most likely the leaked and rumored Fallout 3 Remaster, which is reportedly in development.

It has been a huge launch, a strong concurrent player count, and now a new peak of over 700,000 gamers playing ARC Raiders at once over the weekend.
Valve to announce Half-Life 3, new VR headset and controllers THIS WEEK says super hot rumor
Valve could be preparing to launch its next-gen Steam Frame VR headset alongside its new Steam Controller, with what could be the biggest announcement in years: Half-Life 3 dropping this week.
In some super-hot rumors posted from a reliable source for Valve-related hardware and display leaks, posted on X and on the "GamingLeaksAndRumors" subreddit, which states that comments were made on Brad Lynch's Discord, where he reportedly said: "I'm just going to flat out say it. I was told by a few sources, across a few weeks, to keep an eye out for this week. More specifically, Wednesday".
He continued: "and it doesn't seem to be out of the question for Valve to choose that day to just **announce** it. I have no idea but I get the impression they will need a week or two to explain the device to people before opening orders anyway".
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang explains why the AI boom is not like the dot-com bubble
During a recent 'The Minds of Modern AI' roundtable discussion and interview with the Financial Times, editor Madhumita Murgia brought up the question or idea that we're currently living in an 'AI bubble' similar to the dotcom bubble of the 1990s, and that sooner or later it's going to burst and the market will "correct" itself.
For those who need a refresher or were too young to remember the 'dot-com bubble' of the late 1990s, this refers to a time when the stock market and investors saw the rise of the internet and the concept of the "World Wide Web" and decided to invest heavily in dot-com startups and companies. The bubble eventually burst, leaving only a few companies, such as Amazon, intact.
The reason people are comparing the AI boom to the dot-com boom is that they see parallels in the rapid growth and the lack of signs that AI investments are leading to actual profits. In response to the comparison and question posed to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, his initial brief answer is 'no'; the AI boom is not like the dot-com boom because back then, the majority of the fiber was "dark," meaning unused.
SK hynix reportedly making High Bandwidth Storage (HBS): stacked chips for next-gen smartphones
SK hynix is reportedly developing High Bandwidth Storage (HBS), which infuses mobile DRAM and NAND into a single package, with the next-gen memory made for boosting AI performance in mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.
In a new report from ETnews picked up by Korean analyst @Jukanlosreve, SK hynix is working on HBS by stacking low-power wide I/O (LPWIO) DRAM together with NAND. There's up to 16 layers of DRAM and NAND that can be stacked and interconnected through "Vertical Wire Fan-Out (VFO)" technology, improving data processing speed.
SK hynix has previously commercialized LPWIO DRAM, and is now looking to use HBS by adding NAND to create a multi-memory stacked structure. The way that SK hynix will achieve this feat with HBS is the VFO advanced packaging, which SK hynix created in a world-first in 2023, vertically connecting each individual memory cell.
Samsung's HDR10+ Advanced TVs to offer up to 5,000 nit brightness
HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is now commonplace in modern smart TVs, offering brighter images with more realistic color and generally more detail. Samsung, the company behind the popular HDR10+ format, has just announced HDR10+ Advanced, featuring new features and technologies for movies, TV shows, and games.
One of the new features is called HDR10+ Bright, which adds new metadata to images to enable displays to better render tonal differences in the source, resulting in an overall brighter HDR output. Like HDR10+ before it, HDR10+ Advanced will be open for display makers and platforms like Prime Video (which has already signed on to adopt the new tech) to integrate, with Samsung's next-generation of TVs set to include HDR10+ Advanced with additional AI tools and algorithms that will offer a peak brightness of up to a massive 5,000 nits.
Although this brightness relates to HDR intensity and not the overall uniform brightness of a display, it's more than enough to make whatever takes advantage of this level of HDR10+ Advanced brightness visible in bright daylight. Samsung also notes that with HDR10+ Bright, its next-generation TVs will deliver 100% of the BT.2020 color spectrum, which is the industry standard for mastering 4K and 8K HDR content.

Bethesda 'spent forever' making Fallout 4's dialog system, Todd Howard says
To Bethesda's high disappointment, Fallout 4's dialog system is one of the most maligned features of the game. Now 10 years later, Todd Howard reveals the studio actually spent a lot of time putting the conversation system together.
Mechanically, Fallout 4 is among the best, having introduced helpful features like sprint. But there's one area the game falls flat, and it's a place where you'll spend a lot of time--dialog. Fallout 4 has a fully voiced protagonist alongside multiple choice responses, but the choices simply don't match up with what is actually said by the character. This can create a big disconnect.
Unfortunately, getting the dialog system to work in its currently-unpopular state took a lot of effort from Bethesda. In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Bethesda's Todd Howard says Fallout 4's conversations were tough for the studio to put together, mainly because of the attempt at making discussions more interactive.

Two titan franchises of the gaming industry have been keeping fans patiently waiting for many, many years for the next installment in their franchises, and now we have finally heard about the latter.
Speaking to GQ Magazine, Bethesda CEO Todd Howard, director of the Elder Scrolls franchise, has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is "still a long way off," and has asked fans for further patience as development at the studio continues. Howard was asked what he is currently working on, and the CEO said that hundreds of developers have been tasked with working on Fallout, "but The Elder Scrolls 6 is the everyday thing."
Howard was also asked about how it feels to be making a new Elder Scrolls game again, and the director went on to say that he enjoys having a break between installments to make different games, as he feels it's important to have a creative reset, and for the audience to have a break.

Sony may soon let you buy a game once and play it on both PS5 and PC
Sony has been bringing its first-party games over to PC for many years now, with the first cross-platform release being Helldivers 2, providing extremely lucrative results for the company. But what about cross-buying Sony games?
Leaks from the PlayStation Store indicate Sony is exploring the idea of enabling players to cross-buy its games, meaning a gamer could buy a PlayStation game via their PS5 and then have access to it on their PC.
Xbox already offers this feature across its various platforms, but as a result, it has somewhat lost its brand identity, as now everything has technically, and even according to Microsoft themselves, become an Xbox.

Steam Controller 2 leaked details: fresh design, hand distance detection, launch
A Valve leaker has shared a rendered image of what they believe will be Valve's Steam Controller 2, and according to the leaker, the controller is able to detect how far away a user's hands are from the handles.
The render comes from Valve leaker SadlyItsBradley, who explained in a recent X post that the above image showcases what the Steam Controller 2 is going to look like when it launches. Additionally, the leaker writes that he has been told by an undisclosed source that the controller can detect how far a user's hands are from the handles "using a simple capsense feature" similar to the Valve Index controllers.
Notably, the new Steam controller won't support full finger tracking in the grips, which differentiates itself from the Index controllers. Furthermore, the leaker writes in a follow-up X post that the above image was created with AI, but the original image he has of the new controller was used as training data to generate what is shown above. The leaker writes that he chose to showcase an AI-generated image based on the original because the original could reveal sensitive information about his source.
Scientists can now predict personality and success level with a selfie
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have devised a way to scan people's faces to estimate personality traits and real-world success, and, according to the scientists behind the method, it actually works.
A new study has found that machine learning techniques can identify correlations between facial characteristics and real-world success, leading to the creation of predictors based on facial characteristics for specific aspects of life. The team used an AI system trained to estimate the likelihood of the Big Five personality traits from human face images.
The researchers took headshots from 96,000 MBA college graduates and fed them into the AI. The AI produced results indicating the likelihood of each student's personality traits: neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, and openness. The team then reviewed the AI's results and evaluated how each student's career had panned out, and found a correlation between the AI's predictions and each student's success.

Apple to ditch mini-LED for OLED in next-gen MacBook Pro redesign
Apple is preparing to abandon its mini-LED technology that has been used in its MacBook Pro laptops for many generations for the primo OLED technology.
The news comes from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a known Apple insider with an impeccable track record when it comes to knowing what is happening behind the scenes at the Cupertino company. Gurman writes that Apple will be abandoning mini-LED display technology for OLED with the M6 generation of MacBook Pros, and that this generation of MacBook Pros will also come with a redesign.
However, Gurman states this redesign and OLED adoption will be exclusive to the M6 Pro and M6 Max MacBook Pro models, meaning the standard M6 laptops won't have an OLED display. The Bloomberg reporter writes that there is still some uncertainty around when the OLED displays for these laptops will be ready, as Samsung Display is handling the manufacturing of the panels, along with the required components that are necessary for completion. Any delays on Samsung's end may result in the OLED MacBook Pro being pushed back.
