Check out this RTX 5050 overclocked to 3.5GHz using a camping freezer, unlocks 23% more perf
If you want to see one of the craziest overclocks using something totally unconventional, then this RTX 5050 overclocked using a camping freezer should get your attention.
TrashBench used an entry-level GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card, shunt-modded it to remove its power limits, and then dropped the cooling loop into a portable Techni-Ice camping freezer. The loop itself uses a glycol mix, allowing the GPU to run below ambient temperatures, where according to TrashBench's numbers, the RTX 5050 GPU core temps were sitting at around -12C to 15C depending on the load.
NVIDIA's entry-level GeForce RTX 5050 has a stock GPU boost of around 2820MHz, but cooled with the Techni-Ice camping freezer and shunt-modded, TrashBench was hitting 3468MHz, which represents a 23% increase in GPU clocks. The GB207 GPU inside of the RTX 5050 overclocked by TrashBench is now the top of the 3DMark charts for the RTX 5050, with TimeSpy hitting 10,211 points at stock, or 12,058 points when overclocked.
Samsung has reportedly raised DDR5 memory prices by 60% because of AI shortages
With the AI boom and the rise of next-gen data centers in nearly every major city, as well as cloud-based computing, we've seen several reports in recent months of an unprecedented shortage of flash-based memory and storage expected in 2026. And as we're heading into the final weeks of 2025, it sounds like the price hikes and limited availability are already here.
According to a new report from Reuters, Samsung Electronics is already raising the price on DDR5 memory modules by up to 60%. Prices for 32GB of DDR5 memory have increased from $149 in September to $239 in November. "The boom in artificial intelligence has stoked intense demand," the report writes, noting that memory chips are included in the rush to purchase every high-end GPU that is currently being manufactured.
The report states that Samsung has delayed formally announcing this new pricing, citing information from sources "briefed by Samsung." Based on this information, the pricing for DDR5 modules at the company has increased across the board, ranging from 30% to 60%.

Apple puts its new high-end Mac Pro desktop systems on the 'back burner'
Apple is reportedly no longer cooking up a new high-end Mac Pro desktop, with an insider saying that the system has been put on the "back burner".
We all remember the Apple Mac Pro system that looked like a trash can, but its unique design didn't do so well, and in the end Apple apologized about it. There was a bigger issue with the Mac Pro at the time, as Apple executives later admitted that the design backed the company into a "thermal corner", meaning it was close to impossible to upgrade the processor without causing the Mac Pro to overheat.
Apple changed things up big time with its totally redesigned Mac Pro desktop that had a traditional design over the oh-my-gosh unique style of the one from 2013. Apple promised at the time that the Mac Pro family would be updated regularly, and would remain an important part of the Mac family... but we all know that didn't happen.
This $10,000 NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 turns into a brick over an irreplaceable broken PCIe connector
Just imagine spending $10,000 on a new NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 workstation GPU, it breaking, and essentially becoming a $10K brick because you can't buy replacement parts.
This happened to a "very famous Tech YouTuber" (with over 40 million followers) who purchased the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 and sent it to NorthridgeFix, after transporting the system with the RTX PRO 6000 still installed onto the motherboard, with all of the pressure in transportation breaking the PCIe connector on the $10,000 card.
All the stress, all the weight of the entire RTX PRO 6000 is on the PCIe board, and when transported inside of a system and in the PCIe slot itself, NorthridgeFix told the customer he couldn't solder that PCIe piece back together, and compared it to glass being put back together after being smashed. NorthridgeFix condemned the GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition, where he called it one of the worst designs ever, but with the damaged RTX 5090 FE he received in the past, NVIDIA provided the PCIe connector so it could be fixed.
Apple's new base iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, iPhone Air 2 rumored for delayed launch to spring 2027
Apple won't be launching its new base iPhone 18 or budget-friendly iPhone 18e next year, where instead they will reportedly launch alongside a potential refreshed iPhone Air 2 smartphone in 2027.
In a new report from insider Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple will be unveiling three new high-end smartphones in 2026 -- the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside the first foldable iPhone -- in fall 2026. But 6 months later, Apple will reportedly unleash the base iPhone 18, budget iPhone 18e, and refreshed iPhone Air 2, with this pattern of staged releases to continue for "years to come" says Gurman.
Apple's second iPhone Air was reportedly delayed until fall 2027 to give the company time to add an additional rear camera, as well as a possible vapor chamber cooler and increased battery, reported The Information. The outlet also said that poor sales of the iPhone Air have also been another large reason why the new iPhone Air 2 is delayed.
Max Payne 2 RTX Remix looks incredible, but performance drops from 1200 FPS to below 40 FPS
Remedy's Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, released in 2003, saw the studio deliver a masterpiece of noir, crime, and bullet-time action. On PC, the game debuted with cutting-edge visuals that still look great in 2025, but are taken to the next level with full ray tracing or path-traced lighting thanks to NVIDIA's RTX Remix modding toolkit.
Currently in development by Darko9.13, Max Payne 2 RTX Remix is playable and available for download on Moddb; however, performance takes a massive hit, even when running on one of the most powerful GPUs on the market. Path tracing is incredibly hardware-intensive (as seen in Half-Life 2 RTX), and here we see performance in one area drop from around 1250 FPS in one scene down to around 40 FPS on a GeForce RTX 5080.
This figure comes from a Max Payne 2 RTX Remix visual showcase and performance video created by MxBenchmarkPC. The 40 FPS path tracing figure is obtained with DLSS 4's 'Performance' preset enabled, which means the game's internally rendered resolution is 1080p. Yes, this makes Max Payne 2 RTX Remix one of the most visually demanding mods currently available; however, the transition to realistic lighting, physically based materials, improved textures, and some updated geometry is impressive to see.
Half Life 3 rumor round-up, all roads point to Valve unveiling by 2026
The rumors surrounding Half-Life 3 have hit fever pitch since Valve announced its new selection of hardware, with many fans of the franchise expecting the company to unveil the title sometime soon, as multiple industry experts have leaked information regarding its development. But, when will the reveal be?
Industry insider and Valve leaker "GabeFollower" said in an X post that, according to their source, Valve is aiming to launch Half-Life 3 sometime this year. This rumor was somewhat corroborated by Insider Gaming's Mike Straw, who reported Valve is planning on another big announcement, and it won't be at The Game Awards, which is scheduled for December 11, 2025. Adding more fuel to the Half-Life 3 before the end of the year fire is data miner Tyler McVicker, who stated he expects there will be another big announcement from Valve within the next two to three weeks.
In the same vein as Half Life 3 rumors, but not pointing to an unveiling by the end of the year, is Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, who said he has heard about a big game launching in March 2026, and that it makes sense it will be a title exclusive to the Steam Machine. Other small pieces of information that circle back to Valve still having a big announcement up its sleeve are the company's own listing on the Steam Marketplace, specifically under the "Upcoming Release" category.

Valve's Steam Machine is upgradable, but not where it's wanted most
Valve recently unveiled the Steam Machine, a mini gaming PC shaped like a console, scheduled to launch early next year. With the exact price of the device still unknown, many potential buyers want to know what the announced hardware specifications will be able to achieve in games and whether the performance they deliver can be improved through upgrades if they are unhappy with the result.
Gamers Nexus visited Valve and spoke with engineers about the design of the upcoming gaming PC/console, during which they showcased the Steam Machine without its shell. The interview with the engineer revealed that Valve actually began designing the Steam Machine with its thermals, specifically the fan. A Steam Machine system engineer explained they designed the fan first, as the laws of thermodynamics are "not flexible".
When discussing the design, Gamers Nexus shows that, by disassembling the Steam Machine, users can upgrade the system memory to SO-DIMM RAM sticks. However, they will likely be quite difficult to access, as SO-DIMM (laptop memory) sits flat on the motherboard and is likely located beneath the large heat sink. Additionally, Gamers Nexus said they aren't sure if it's one or two RAM sticks, but they can verify the RAM isn't soldered to the board.

Valve unveils what it needs for the next-generation Steam Deck
Valve recently announced the Steam Machine, and on the heels of that announcement, we have caught some news about the Steam Deck 2, or rather, what Valve needs to release one.
The Steam Deck was released in February 2022, and then we got the Steam Deck OLED in November 2023. Since then, Valve has been quiet on when it plans on releasing the Steam Deck 2, but recently Valve revealed in a conversation with IGN that it intends the next Steam Deck to be a big step up from the original, and that it won't be releasing the second iteration of the console until hardware becomes available that makes it possible to enable a massive upgrade.
On the back of the announcement of the Steam Machine, Valve has said that it's "really interested" in what is next for the Steam Deck, but it won't be releasing an iterative model that is simply more powerful and has more battery life, as Valve wants something that truly differentiates it from the original handheld. Additionally, Valve said that it has been scanning the System-On-Chip (SoC) market for hardware that will enable it to create the new handheld it has in mind, but right now "there's no offering in that landscape".

PlayStation's Horizon series was always imagined as a multiplayer game
Despite being one of the best-selling single-player franchises in Sony's lineup, the Horizon franchise had always been envisioned as a multiplayer project.
The surprise announcement of the new Horizon: Steel Frontiers MMORPG caught fans off guard. It's a new free-to-play MMO set in the Horizon franchise, and it's not coming to Sony's PlayStation 5. This has prompted lots of discussions among gamers about what's going on with the series, and now Guerrilla Games' art director Jan-Bart van Beek steps in to clarify that Horizon was always supposed to have multiplayer.
"From the first moment we imagined Horizon, we always thought about it as a multiplayer game," van Beek said on Twitter.

Black Ops 7 campaign is always-online, can't be paused, and has no checkpoints
Call of Duty Black Ops 7 can't be paused, and its campaign is online-only, making it a kind of hybridized multiplayer-campaign mashup.
The new Black Ops 7's campaign is ruffling some feathers, and for good reason: It completely breaks tradition, blurring the line between what's considered multiplayer and singleplayer content. It's a kind of experimental mix of DMZ and zombies in the guise of a campaign, but with frictional choices like having no checkpoints during missions.
Enemy health bars, forced multiplayer, no pausing, and having to stay online in order to play. These are all hallmarks of Call of Duty Black Ops 7, the latest from Microsoft's $68.7 billion gem, Activision. From the sound of it, players aren't particularly happy about these features, even if they are required by design. Gamers didn't seem to like it much when Modern Warfare 3's campaign also did something similar by breaking linear missions.
How AppleCare+ could pay off in spades: broken MacBook Pro 2019 is replaced with MacBook Pro M5
A MacBook Pro owner reportedly got their six-year-old laptop with an Intel CPU (this was pre-Apple days) replaced with a new MacBook Pro 14-inch M5 under an AppleCare+ plan.
Wccftech noticed that GeneralZilla on Reddit explained: "Today I took my 2019 15' IMBP (Intel MacBook Pro) in due to a battery service warning. I've been paying the monthly subscription for Apple care since the original warranty lapsed. This was going to be my second battery replacement so I was already familiar with the process but I was told that the store could not service my laptop and to call an Apple care specialist about more information regarding the denial of service."
The Redditor then describes an hour of "getting bounced around and escalated" until one of the Apple reps offered to replace the MacBook Pro with "equal machinery", but the only options were the current laptops on Apple's site.
Steam Machine spotted with smart custom E-ink front cover displaying CPU and GPU temps
Valve's resurrected Steam Machine continues to fascinate this week, and another smart aspect of this mini PC that aims to rule your living room is custom front covers, with an E-ink solution just coming to light.
Notebookcheck.net noticed (via VideoCardz) that Gamers Nexus talked about the front cover - which attaches magnetically to the cube chassis of the Steam Machine - and how owners will be able to 3D print their own covers.
See the above YouTube video, but the idea is to jazz up the Steam Machine with a striking piece of artwork, or maybe a cover with better airflow, or Valve has even been testing a model which is an E-ink display (with bezel).
This could be the Steam Deck dock to beat - Chizha Mount Ling Dock review
Valve's Steam Deck needs no introduction. The portable gaming handheld that runs SteamOS, offering a console-like experience with access to Steam's vast library of titles, is a fantastic little unit. Its popularity has even led to the current rise of PC gaming handheld devices, such as the ROG Xbox Ally, as well as paving the way for Valve's next big thing - the Steam Machine. Ever since its debut, the 'Steam as a console' quality of the Steam Deck has made it feel as close to something like the Nintendo Switch as it has a portable gaming PC.
However, unlike the Switch, the Deck doesn't ship with a dock, so if you're looking for a place for it to sit to charge or connect to a TV for some big-screen gaming over HDMI, your only option is one of the countless Steam Deck Dock products on the market. As expected, these come in all shapes and sizes and price ranges, but if you're after something premium with innovative features, style, and the capacity to install a 4TB M.2 SSD to have your library ready to go, look no further than the Chizha Mount Ling Dock from Dockcase.
Yes, it's a weird name, and yes, it has RGB lighting (which you can adjust or turn off if it's a distraction, but the Chizha Mount Ling Dock is an impressively designed but not perfect piece of hardware. From the full-featured display and touchscreen interface to the active cooling and broad support for features like controllers and wired Ethernet, let's take a closer look.
Red Dead Redemption remaster confirmed for Netflix, Mobile, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2
After rumors swirled that Rockstar was planning to release a remaster of Red Dead Redemption, the Grand Theft Auto developer put out a new trailer confirming that, in December, the remaster will launch on every major platform.
In a new video shared to Rockstar Games' social media channels, the developer has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption will be launching on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch 2, and Netflix Games. The confirmation comes after the ESRB gave an official rating for the title just yesterday, indicating that an announcement was right around the corner.
Additionally, rumors were circulating that a remaster for Red Dead Redemption 2 was in the works, but for now, those rumors seem misguided and were instead about the newly announced Red Dead Redemption remaster, not the second title in the franchise. However, that doesn't mean an RDR2 remaster is impossible, or isn't currently being worked on. As for the newly announced remaster, Red Dead Redemption is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with 60FPS support, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and up to 4K resolution.
Samsung's leaked Galaxy Book6 Pro: first laptop with Xe3-powered Intel Arc B390 GPU
Samsung's new Galaxy Book6 laptop has just had its first leak, teasing it'll be the first laptop powered with Intel's new Arc B390 integrated GPU based on the new Xe3 architecture.
The new Samsung Galaxy Book6 laptop should be released in 2026 once Intel officially launches its next-gen Panther Lake CPUs at CES 2026 in January, with the Galaxy Book6 powered by the new Core Ultra X7 358H processor. This isn't the flagship Panther Lake silicon, as it has up to 4.78GHz CPU clock speeds compared to the X9 388H with up to 5.1GHz CPU clocks.
However, the integrated graphics on the X7 358H chip is the new Arc B390 GPU which is listed on the Geekbench with 96 compute units, which works out to 12 Xe3 GPU cores. The results on Geekbench show the Intel Arc B390 having a 2.5GHz GPU clock speed, making it 450MHz higher than the Arc 140V GPU that clocks at 2.05GHz inside of "Lunar Lake", and 150MHz faster than the Arc 140T at 2.35GHz on the Core Ultra 9 285H "Arrow Lake" chip.
Valve's new Steam gaming hardware could see Half-Life 3 as a system-seller, out before GTA 6
Valve could take all of the thunder away from release of Grand Theft Auto 6 with a surprise system-selling release of Half-Life 3, ready to rock on its new Steam Machine, Steam Frame VR headset, Steam Controllers, and the PC.
It was just a couple of days before Valve unleashed its new Steam hardware that super-hot rumors teased Half-Life 3 would be unveiled alongside a new VR headset and controllers this week. Fast-forward a couple of days, and Valve indeed unveils not only the new Steam Frame VR headset and Steam Controller, but a brand-new Steam Machine system.
Valve could've had a strategy of unveiling its new Steam hardware first, and then have Half-Life 3 unveiled in its own -- and probably even bigger -- event, with an imminent release on PC and VR, while being included for free with each Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset. Now that, would cause shockwaves for the gaming industry, and rival the future Grand Theft Auto 6 release from Rockstar... a lot of thunder stolen, especially if Valve pushes huge boundaries in Half-Life 3.
Xbox Ally in great demand, ASUS expects to make up to $160 million from handhelds
ASUS says demand for the ROG Xbox Ally X exceeds expectations--the handheld is doing so well that it could make up to $160 million revenue in the quarter.
ASUS' latest Q3 results show that Xbox's handheld aspirations are off to a good start. The Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X gaming handhelds launched in October to strong consumer demand, ASUS says, with the higher-priced $999 Xbox Ally X being surprisingly popular. ASUS believes there's a growing market for gaming handhelds and says the Ally will remain a core part of the ROG lineup.
As far as sales go, ASUS didn't give out unit sales but the company did say it expects to make anywhere from 3-5 billion TWD ($96-160 million) from ROG Ally sales during the holiday quarter. ASUS actually expects the bottom-line sales revenue to grow to roughly $130 million as the market continues to grow and mature. Remember that this is just ASUS' share, and Xbox also gets a cut, meaning actual sales revenue for each device is higher than what's outlined here.
