Martin Herfurt, an Austrian security researcher, has found an exploit in one of Tesla's recent features.

In August 2021, Tesla updated its vehicles to be immediately operable after unlocking them with their NFC key card, without having to place the cards on the center console to begin driving. Tesla's can also be unlocked with a key fob or a mobile app. Herfurt discovered that the new update made the car automatically start within 130 seconds of being unlocked with an NFC card. During that time, it would also accept brand new keys without authentication.

An upcoming drone developed by Draganfly, known as the Commander, will be used to monitor public health.

The Draganfly Commander is a quadcopter drone with software that allows it to assess whether individuals are maintaining social distance and detect whether they are wearing masks. It can recognize when an individual is sneezing or coughing, and temperature sensing abilities allow it to determine when someone has a fever. It can even determine people's heart and breathing rates.

The Commander is powered by two redundant smart batteries and can take advantage of replaceable payloads to complete various missions requiring high-resolution photography. It can be used for surveying, industrial inspection, 3D mapping, search and rescue, and more.

The new robotic lunar rover has a humanoid upper body and four wheeled legs, resembling a centaur from Greek mythology, a creature with a human upper body and the lower body of a horse.

The lunar rover is called the R1 robot and was developed by GITAI, a space robotics startup, in partnership with Japan's space agency, JAXA. The R1 has two arms with articulating claws for hands, cameras on its head that resemble eyes, and each of its four wheels can rotate independently with complete 360-degree freedom.

During a test at a JAXA facility, the R1 traversed uneven terrain peppered with rocks, designed to simulate a lunar environment. The rover also showed off various locomotion maneuvers, and a later test showed an operator controlling the robot with a virtual reality (VR) headset and handheld controls.

A paper on the Bluetooth signal tracking titled "Evaluating Physical-Layer BLE Location Tracking Attacks on Mobile Devices" was recently presented at the IEEE Security & Privacy conference in Oakland, California, on May 24th, 2022.

Researchers from the University of California San Diego have found Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals are constantly emitted by mobile devices, generating a unique fingerprint that attackers can use to track an individual's movements. This covers smartphones, smartwatches, and fitness trackers, all of which transmit roughly 500 "Bluetooth beacons" per minute.

The unique fingerprint results from minute manufacturing imperfections in device hardware, which uniquely distorts the Bluetooth signal, allowing attackers to bypass anti-tracking techniques like constantly changing network addresses. Across their experiments, they found that 40%-47% of devices were uniquely identifiable and could track a volunteer as they left their residence.

Researchers have reported the discovery of the largest meat-eating dinosaur to ever roam Europe called the "White Rock spinosaurid".

A new study published in the journal PeerJ Life & Environment details the discovery of fossils from the dinosaur that is expected to have lived approximately 125 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. The fossils that were found include a back, hip, and tail bones with some additional limb fragments. The fossils were found along Compton Bay, located on the southwest coast of the Isle of Wight.

According to the researchers, the White Rock spinosaurid is, at the very least, "one of the biggest - and possibly the biggest - known land predator ever to stalk Europe," said Chris Barker, a University of Southampton doctoral student in paleontology and the lead author of the new paper. Notably, paleontologists estimate that the dinosaur was about 32 feet long but could have possibly been even bigger. For reference, the Tyrannosaurus rex was close to 42 feet long.

NASA has taken to its Hubble Space Telescope Twitter account to tease upcoming research that will be conducted by the James Webb Space Telescope.

NASA explains in the above post that its Hubble Space Telescope snapped a photograph of the galaxy ESO 137-001, which resides in the constellation Triangulum Australe and in the cluster Abell 3627. NASA explains that ESO 137-001 is slowly plunging into a galaxy cluster that is causing it to be stripped of hot gas, which creates a galactic tail that stretches some 260,000 light years.

Notably, when observed in visible light, the galaxy looks like a "jellyfish" with large blue ribbons of young stars forming the legs of the aquatic animal. Furthermore, NASA explains that once Webb is fully calibrated and operational, the next-generation space telescope will be pointed at ESO 137-001 to study this strange galaxy and how stars are forming in the galactic tail. Family Guy star Seth Green has reportedly paid a massive sum of money to an individual for the return of his star in his upcoming TV show.

At the end of May, Green announced that the star of his upcoming TV show "White Horse Tavern" had been stolen from him through a phishing scam. The star of the show is Bored Ape Yacht Club #8398, or Fred Simian, who Green said was "literally kidnapped" days before he was meant to reveal the show to the world. Bored Ape #8398 wasn't the only NFT that was stolen from Green, as two Mutant Apes and one Doodle NFT were also stolen.

Now, according to reports from BuzzFeed News, the stolen star was purchased from the scammer for approximately $297,000 worth of Ether by an unnamed wallet that is reportedly Green's. If true, it means Green has paid not only a large sum of money for the original purchase of the NFT but also nearly $300,000 to retrieve it.

Researchers have created artificial "living" skin constructed out of human cells that is capable of healing itself.

A team of researchers has moved the scientific needle forward with the development of artificial living skin that is designed to give robots the look and touch of living creatures. As explained in the above/below video and in the researcher's paper penned in the journal Cell, the scientists from the University of Tokyo designed skin that molded itself to a robotic finger as it's very difficult to cut and glue skin onto the device manually.

The team explains that they dipped the robotic finger into a solution that consists of collagen and dermal fibroblast, which are cells that create proteins that basically form the structure and connectivity of human skin. The team then added epidermal cells, which are the main cells found on the outer layer of skin, and as explained by ScienceAlert, without these cells, the skin wouldn't repel water.

NASA has announced that it will be launching a new study that will investigate UFO sightings and how scientists can develop a deeper understanding of the phenomenon.

On Thursday, NASA announced that it will be recruiting several high-ranking scientists to lead the project, which will analyze already obtained data of the mysterious events and, hopefully, provide the agency with a deeper understanding of the phenomena. Notably, the agency intends that the project will inform NASA on how to gather data on UFOs in the future.

NASA now joins the list of US government bodies that have taken on the responsibility of demystifying the UFO topic. Congress recently shined a light on UFOs by hosting a public hearing last month where the Pentagon announced it has encountered nearly 400 UFOs. Additionally, NASA has stated that its newly announced project will also focus on mitigating UFOs, citing a part of the mission is to develop new safety measures for aircrafts.

AMD revealed some more details about its upcoming 4th Gen EPYC "Genoa-X" CPU family at its Financial Day 2022 event, and boy, it packs some beef.

AMD will be using the monster new SP5 socket (LGA 6096) for its EPYC "Genoa-X" CPU, offering both DDR5 support and new PCIe 5.0 technology. AMD has also now confirmed up to 96 cores based on the Zen 4 architecture, and that it's "optimized for technical computing and databases" and drops "in 2023". We already know that Meta (Facebook) will be using EPYC CPUs for the metaverse.

SK hynix announced its super-fast next-gen HBM3 memory in October 2021, and now it's here: powering NVIDIA's new H100 Tensor Core GPU, SK Hynix has kicked off mass production of HBM3 DRAM.

The announcement comes in on schedule to allow NVIDIA to unleash its new H100 Tensor Core GPUs, with NVIDIA recently completing its performance evaluation of SK hynix's HBM3 samples. SK hynix will be providing HBM3 for NVIDIA H100 GPUs starting in Q3 2022, with the South Korean giant to "expand HBM3 volume in the first half in accordance with NVIDIA's schedule".

SK hynix will be providing HBM3 memory that will be pushing 819GB/sec memory bandwidth, which is the equivalent to the transmission of 163 x 1080p movies (5GB in size) every, single, second. Naughty Dog co-president and Last of Us director Neil Druckmann is working on a new secret game for the studio.

Uncharted and Last of Us developer Naughty Dog is pretty busy right now. The studio will release The Last of Us Remake on PS5 in September, and they're ramping up for an incredibly ambitious live service game that's bigger than anything they've done before. A separate time is also working on the studio's next AAA singleplayer epic.

Neil Druckmann confirmed the new game was in early dev: "I'm still making games. I haven't given up my day job. It's a little early to talk about it--maybe if someone at PlayStation wants to leak it then we could talk about it, otherwise we'll save it. I do have a new project but we'll save it for another Summer Game Fest," Neil Druckmann said at the tail end of this year's Summer Game Fest showcase with Goeff Keighley.

Remember Routine? You probably don't. It was a sci-horror game originally revealed in 2012 and set for a release in 2017, but it disappeared for years. Now it's back, and it looks better than ever. The game has been re-announced for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Game Pass.

Sadly there's no release date. Lunar Software, the smaller indie dev working on Routine, says it "won't make the mistake of sharing a release date until we're entirely confident we can hit it." The studio says that the 10-year hiatus was due to financial struggles, but teaming up with Raw Fury has resurrected the Routine project.

Naughty Dog reveals new info about its upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer game, and confirms it's "in some ways bigger" than its massive singleplayer games.

The new Last of Us standalone live multiplayer game is "something special" and will help lead Sony's new push into service games. Naughty Dog has hyped up the new Last of Us multiplayer game, saying that it's an incredibly ambitious and massive story-driven live title. The game won't be done any time soon, though.

"One of the things we mentioned a while back was we started making a multiplayer mode, and it was something different that we've really never done before at Naughty Dog. We felt the way to do it justice was to make a standalone title. And working on it over the past 2 years the ambition has grown, and we're not quite ready to fully unveil it, but we'll give an update of where we're at," Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said during the Summer Game Fest stream.

UPDATE: Sony has officially announced The Last of Us Remake for PS5 and PC.

"We wanted to give people the definitive version of the original game that wasn't encumbered by technology, and we achieved that on PS5 and PC," Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann said. The game will run at 60FPS on PS5.
