NASA has reviewed the data it acquired from the failed launch attempt of the Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft for the Artemis 1 mission on August 29th.

The space agency is now confident they can address the issues facing the launch and have scheduled a new launch attempt for a two-hour window beginning at 2:17 pm EDT (18:17 UTC) on Saturday, September 3rd. The launch will mark the first test of the Orion spacecraft, the SLS, and the ground systems at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida, where the launch will take place.

During the initial launch attempt, ground teams could not chill down the SLS rocket's four RS-25 engines to the approximately 420 degrees Fahrenheit (215.6 degrees Celsius) required, with engine 3 maintaining higher temperatures than the others. A hydrogen leak was also identified, which teams were able to address by manually controlling propellant flow rates.

Royal Caribbean has announced that it is installing SpaceX Starlink internet services to its fleet of ships, where it is the first in the cruise industry to have SpaceX's high-speed, low-latency connections for guests on their ships.

The company will be adding Starlink terminals to its ships immediately, where it will be leveraging the insights the company obtained from its trial on board the Freedom of the Seas which "received tremendous positive feedback from guests and crew". The Royal Caribbean Group expects that the installation of Starlink SpaceX hardware will be completed by the end of Q1 2023: or March 31, 2023.

Anyone who has been on a cruise ship will know that internet access is usually absolutely garbage, and expensive. SpaceX Starlink internet connectivity out at sea, with great low latency and connection speeds... well, that would definitely make the cruise experience better. I've been on a couple of cruises myself and would've loved the access to something like Starlink out at sea.

AMD's new Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" CPUs are nearly here, as too are the X670 and B650 series motherboards, where we're now seeing ASRock's interesting new B650 LiveMixer motherboard.

The new ASRock B650 LiveMixer motherboard has been spotted, leaked with a single image showing its design that is... well... interesting to say the least. I actually really love the design, and hope ASRock is using UV paint that would light up under the right lighting inside of a PC... that would be wild.

ASRock's new B650 LiveMixer is shown here in B650 non-E form, so we should expect just a PCIe 5.0 graphics card or SSD, not both: something the "Extreme" version chipset offers. ASRock is most likely going with a 16+2+1 VRM design, dual EPS power connectors, and a full-sized PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and dual x4 slots (PCIe 4.0).

EK has announced its new EK-Quantum Velocity² water blocks which were engineered specifically for AMD's new AM5 socket and Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" CPUs.

The new EK-Quantum Velocity² water blocks feature EK-Matrix7 compatibility, just like its AM4-based predecessor, meaning its designed according to the standard where the product's height and port distance are managed in 7mm increments. EK is using a modified Velocity² cooling engine that's optimized for AMD's new Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" CPUs to ensure the best cooling performance and optimal coolant flow.

AMD's fresh new AM5 socket still has the same 54 x 90mm mounting hole pattern, but there's a new mounting system required as AM5 motherboards now feature an integrated CPU socket backplate with #UNC 6-32 threads. EK has built its new AM5 water block on its Velocity² platform, with Velocity² water blocks being a socket-specific, high-performance cooling engine with low hydraulic flow restriction.

AMD has launched its new Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" processors and with the new chips being made on TSMC's fresh 5nm process node... so what about supply issues of new tech?

Nope... not an issue says AMD, with CEO Dr. Lisa Su explaining to the audience of its Zen 4 event that the company doesn't expect any supply constraints of its new CPUs. Lisa explained that if we looked back at the last 18 months there have been a "number of things" that have affected supply: capacity limitations, logistics, and more.

Lisa elaborated, saying that from the perspective of AMD they have "dramatically increased" their overall capacity when it comes to wafers, but AMD has also secured substrates and on the back end. She added that while logistically it takes a bit longer to get things into the region, now that the launch of Zen 4 has taken place, AMD is all-systems-go for September 27 when the new products are available for sale.

Aerocool has just unveiled a true surprise in the PC case market with the introduction of their new Skribble case, which features "drawable tempered glass front and side panels". Yeah... you can draw on them, with any design you choose to draw onto the Scribble case.

The glass side and front panels on the Aerocool Skribble PC case can be drawn onto with the included market inside of the box, so you can draw something onto the case right out of the box. Some of the designs that Aerocool is showing off look awesome, if that's the kind of design you wanted to go with.

The case itself features a regular-sized 210 x 453 x 441mm, where on top of the Aerocool Skribble you've got USB 3.0 ports, an LED control button, the usual 3.5mm audio ports, and a power button. But we do have a lack of USB-C connectivity, which is disappointing... especially as we're rushing into the last months of 2022.

AMD's new flagship Ryzen 9 7950X "Zen 4" processor has been delidded, where we get a peek behind the scenes of AMD's very latest CPU.

The delidding was performed by GamersNexus, which ripped the chip apart to spy on the two CCD configuration that is only used on the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 9 7900X processors. There are three dies in total: two Zen 4 CCDs that are made on the TSMC 5nm process node, while the I/O die (where the RDNA 2 GPU also resides) is made on the TSMC 6nm process node.

AMD's new Ryzen 7000 CCD measures in at 70mm2 compared the bigger 83mm2 for Zen 3, transistor-wise that's a 58% increase in transistors: Zen 4 has 6.57 billion transistors on TSMC's new 5nm process node, while Zen 3 has 4.15 billion transistors on TSMC's current 7nm process node.

GeIL has just unveiled its new AMD EXPO DDR5 memory kits in both "EVO V" and "Polaris" DDR5 memory families, where they even have RGB lighting and active cooling.

The new GeIL EVO V AMD Edition DDR5 memory will come with RGB lighting and an active dual-fan cooling system, where the DDR5 RAM has two small fans built into the top of the heat spreader that keeps the internals nice and cool, and helps blow away the hot air that the DDR5 memory is generating.

There's also a beautiful RGB diffuser on the top of the GeIL EVO V AMD Edition DDR5 memory, while there's even RGB lighting inside of the two fans as well. The module itself is tall, so you'll have to make sure you've got the room... but it'll also look slick, too.

AMD has its high-end new X670E and X670 series motherboards on the way, boasting next-gen PCIe 5.0 connectivity for new GPUs and SSDs... but the new mid-range B650E chipset is going to be a real star.

The new B650E chipset ushers in PCIe 5.0 for the mainstream, as the big difference between the "E" and "non-E" motherboards -- where the E stands for "Extreme" is PCIe 5.0 for both GPUs and SSDs... not just one or the other. AMD will provide PCIe 5.0 lanes to at least one of the M.2 slots, while providing full 16 lanes to PCIe 5.0-based graphics cards.

B650E motherboards will benefit consumers greatly: a cheap entry cost with their B650E-based motherboard, a new Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" CPU and if you really wanted... a PCIe 5.0-capable graphics card and PCIe 5.0-capable SSD. It provides that elusive "future-proofing" there, as you've also got DDR5 memory here along with PCIe 5.0, so you'll be good for up to 2025 and beyond.

AMD has officially introduced its next-gen Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" CPUs with its flagship Ryzen 9 7950X featuring 16 cores and 32 threads at up to 5.7GHz, with the new top-tier Zen 4 chip being tested in Geekbench.

The new AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor was tested inside of a new ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard, with 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory installed. AMD's new Ryzen 9 7950X processor reached a maximum boost frequency of 5759MHz (5.75GHz) which is just a little bit faster than the advertised 5.7GHz max frequency on the Ryzen 9 7950X.

There's 16 cores and 32 threads of Zen 4-powered CPU power inside of the Ryzen 9 7950X, which is the same core and thread count as the Zen 3-powered Ryzen 9 5950X that it replaces. Intel fights at this level with its Alder Lake-powered Core i9-12900K with 16 cores and 24 threads, while the new Raptor Lake-based Core i9-13900K will feature 24 cores and 32 threads.

Jon Peddie Research's new report shows that GPU shipments passed 84 million units in Q2 2022, which is down 34% year-over-year.

JPR noted in its new report that overall, GPUs will have a compound annual growth rate of 3.8% between 2022-2026, where the firm predicts GPUs will hit an install base of 3.1 billion units. Over the next 5 years, JPR said that the penetration of discrete GPUs (dGPUs) in the PC will grow to reach 30%.

In the last quarter, AMD's overall GPU market share dropped 1.1%, Intel's overall GPU market share actually increased by 2% while NVIDIA's GPU market share dropped 3.15%. When it comes to overall GPU shipments, AMD shipments dropped by 7.6%, Intel shipments dropped 9.8%, but NVIDIA (which also sells the most graphics cards) saw the steepest decline with a drop of a painful 25.7%.

New details have leaked the name, setting, characters, and release date of the next Assassin's Creed game.

According to new reports from French streamer J0nathan, the next Assassin's Creed game will be officially called Mirage. This is the same project that was codenamed Assassin's Creed Rift, and aims to be a smaller-scale game that returns to the series' roots.

Info presented by the YouTuber has been corroborated by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who cites sources familiar with Ubisoft's plans. Assassin's Creed Mirage will be set in Baghdad during the late 9th century and will star Basim from Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Elon Musk has recently spoken to reporters about Earth's reliance on fossil fuels such as oil and gas, with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO saying the planet can't just jump to renewable energy overnight.

Musk talked to reporters at the ONS foundation conference in Norway, saying that he came to the conference to show his appreciation to the Norwegian people for their support in electric vehicles and sustainable transport. The Tesla CEO and founder was asked his thoughts on fossil fuels such as oil and gas, where he replied that Earth will still need to use fossil fuels or else "civilization will crumble". In order for civilization to function Earth needs oil and gas.

Musk says that any reasonable person would say that Earth needs to continue to harvest fossil fuels in order to keep civilization functioning at an exponential rate. Additionally, the SpaceX CEO says that while fossil fuels need to be harvested there needs to be a simultaneous effort put into accelerating the development into sustainable energy.

A study on the new views of the Moon titled "Cryogeomorphic Characterization of Shadowed Regions in the Artemis Exploration Zone" has been published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.

Researchers from ETH Zurich have used artificial intelligence (AI) to assist them in viewing parts of the Moon permanently in shadow. Their study looks at the south polar region, which contains numerous impact craters that never receive sunlight and are always shadowed. Inside these craters, the temperature drops to between about -170 degrees Celsius (-274 degrees Fahrenheit) and -240 degrees Celsius (-400 degrees Fahrenheit), nearing absolute zero.

The cold temperatures mean ice could be found in the craters, as water vapor freezes and becomes trapped inside the crater. Other volatile substances could also form solids and ice throughout the crater, providing astronauts with a potential water source or source for chemicals that may be used as rocket fuel or applications like radiation shielding.

The SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute has revealed its Allen Telescope Array (ATA) in northern California has located NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft.

Voyager 1 has traveled further from Earth than any human-made object in history, reaching 23.3 billion kilometers (14.5 billion miles) away at the time of writing. It launched almost 45 years ago and has long since left the solar system, journeying into the interstellar medium, the space between star systems. As part of ongoing refurbishments for the ATA, the array's instruments were used to detect Voyager 1.

The ATA is the first radio telescope built from the ground up to be used for searching for intelligent life. It comprises 42 6.1-meter (20 feet) diameter telescopes, of which about 20 have wideband cryogenically cooled feeds, used to detect electromagnetic waves with frequencies between 1 to 12 gigahertz (GHz). These 20 antennae were used on July 9th, 2022, to receive the data being downlinked from Voyager 1, which transmits using ~8420.43 megahertz (MHz) waves.

A study on the technique titled "Selectivity in single-molecule reactions by tip-induced redox chemistry" has been published in the journal Science.

Researchers from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia have used an instrument that uses scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to map the positions of individual atoms making up single molecules, to which they can then apply voltages. The team has used an extremely sharp tip, measuring only a few atoms wide, to apply voltages to the bonds between the atoms in a molecule, breaking them to allow new bonds to form.

A Tesla Model 3 has been found stuck halfway into the ground after monsoonal storms in the Mojave Desert in California.

The National Park Service (NPS) has shared the photo of the Model 3 found within the Mojave National Preserve to serve as a reminder for "everyone to travel the road system carefully and slowly and to Drive Like A Tortoise(TM) to protect human life and wildlife." The Tesla's occupants were not injured after they appear to have circumvented road closures, though their vehicle had to be left behind after it became trapped in the ground on North Kelbaker.

The NPS is preparing to assess damages and make repairs as part of their monsoon recovery operations after more than two inches of rain fell on the Hole-in-the-Wall area on Thursday afternoon, August 25th. By comparison, another region of the Mojave Desert, the Death Valley, experiences only about two inches of rain yearly.

Paleontologists have uncovered the fossilized remains of a massive dinosaur in Portugal, potentially the largest dinosaur fossil found in Europe, if not the entire world.

The ribs pictured each measure about 3 meters (9.8 feet) long and are thought to be from a sauropod. The remains were found in the garden of a house near Pombal, Portugal after the owner of the house first started finding remains in his garden while digging to clear the way for an extension in 2017. The homeowner contacted paleontologists after his discovery, and Portuguese and Spanish paleontologists have since uncovered the ribs and other bones from the sauropod starting in August 2022.

AMD has confirmed its new EXPO technology, which makes overclocking your DDR5 memory inside of your new AM5-based motherboard and new Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" processor easier.

The new AMD EXPO technology is offered as a one-click DDR5 overclocking tool for new Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, where AMD promises there's up to 11% enhanced gaming performance at 1080p with it enabled. There's also lowered latency, down to around 63ns.

AMD has said that it's making its new EXPO technology open with a standard license and royalty-free, which means we'll see it adopted into the market quicker, and cheaper. AMD is working with around 15 partners with DDR5 memory kits that offer up to DDR5-6400 speeds, with the likes of ADATA, Corsair, G.SKILL, Kingston, and more are ready for the world of Zen 4 + AMD EXPO technology.
