It'll be powered by NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2060 or RTX 2080 with Max-Q, up to 2 x 512GB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs in RAID 0 for the speed freaks out there. I would definitely be going with the RTX 2080 Max-Q if it were up to me, because you're going to need as much graphics grunt as you can to hit 300FPS.

FAA bans recalled MacBook Pros from ALL flights over battery concerns

Anthony Garreffa | Aug 13, 2019 9:11 PM CDT

The US Federal Aviation Administration (or FAA) has banned certain Apple MacBook Pro laptops on US flights after Apple began recalling 15-inch MacBook Pro models over batteries that can overheat, and create a fire safety risk.

FAA bans recalled MacBook Pros from ALL flights over battery concerns

Apple said back in June that it had "determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk". Now the FAA has chimed in saying that it was "aware of the recalled batteries that are used in some Apple MacBook Pro laptops" and has since communicated with all major US airlines about the ban.

The FAA put its foot down with US airlines reminding them about 2016 safety rules for products with recalled batteries. These laws means that the affected Apple laptops, MacBook Pro models sold between September 2015 and February 2017 (that is a lot) cannot go on a flight on domestic or international flights into, and out of the US.

New Apple MacBook Pro rumored to start at around $3000

Shannon Robb | Jul 26, 2019 2:53 PM CDT

Rumors are becoming far more prevalent as the inevitable launch of the new Apple MacBook Pro 16" comes to fruition. Rumors from the translated source are showing the new MacBook Pro 16" model could have a starting price of 90,000 to even 100,000 NTD which means an expected retail price of around $3000 USD.

New Apple MacBook Pro rumored to start at around $3000

The other point of contention for potential buyers is the lack of an OLED display, which to many is a significant upset as it has been the desired option for many users seeking MacBook Pro upgrades. Apple is reportedly sticking to an LG sourced LCD panel. This is not a horrible thing as LG makes some stunning display panels, but for the price, I do think users want to see OLED on the flagship mobile PC from Apple.

The existing 15" MacBook Pro starts at $2,399 which means this would be a sizeable jump in price, if true. No other details are known as far as specs at this moment, which means we can only extrapolate based on the data provided that the new hardware will be quite beefy to support the new starting price.

Microsoft foldable Surface PC will run Android apps in 2020

Anthony Garreffa | Jun 25, 2019 8:28 PM CDT

Microsoft could well and truly surprise the world next year with a new foldable Surface PC that is called codename Centaurus, a new dual 9-inch foldable touchscreen laptop powered by a new 10nm Intel Lakefield CPU.

Microsoft foldable Surface PC will run Android apps in 2020

The new Centaurus-named foldable Surface would have 2 x 9-inch 4:3 aspect ratio displays, and not a single foldable panel. Windows Central "can confirm" Centaurus is "indeed an Intel device, and does feature two separate displays, not a single foldable display like found on the recently announced Lenovo foldable PC". Another one of the main selling points of Centaurus is that it will be capable of running Android apps.

Microsoft's new foldable Surface PC will run Windows Core OS, with support for Android apps making the dual-screen Centaurus a very hotly-rumored product. According to sources of both Forbes and Windows Central we can expect Centaurus is launch in the first half of 2020, with a possible October 2019 hardware reveal or tease event.

Apple 16-inch MacBook Pro rumors: new CPU, high-res display

Anthony Garreffa | Jun 24, 2019 9:55 PM CDT

Apple is reportedly working on a new 16-inch MacBook Pro that would sit above its current-gen 15.4-inch MacBook Pro and the super-awesome but now-retired 17-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple 16-inch MacBook Pro rumors: new CPU, high-res display

The new 16-inch MacBook Pro would rreportedly boast a native 3072 x 1920 resolution, compared to the 2880 x 1800 resolution on the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro. The new 16-inch display would reportedly be provided by LG Display, wouldn't be all-OLED but a future all-OLED model wouldn't be surprising -- it would be damn beautiful, and I hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Analyst Jeff Lin believes the new 16-inch MacBook Pro would pack a new CPU from Intel which should ride up to a new Core i9 chip, and I'm hoping a ton of DDR4 RAM, high-speed storage, and high-end graphics which will be the surprise move. Will Apple use AMD Radeon Vega designs, or could they use a new Navi-based Radeon RX 5700 series solution?

Lenovo unveils world's first foldable PC prototype

Anthony Garreffa | May 14, 2019 8:31 PM CDT

Lenovo has just unveiled a new prototype foldable laptop, something that will feature a future Intel processor and will be an always-on, always-connected laptop running Windows 10.

Lenovo unveils world's first foldable PC prototype

The company unveiled the new foldable laptop prototype to the media which rolls out with a 13.3-inch 2K OLED-based display that has a Galaxy Fold-like design with its latch magnetically leaving a small gap near the hinge. When the prototype foldable laptop is laid out flat, Engadget said during its hands-on that they were "impressed to see that the PC didn't have an obvious crease".

The new laptop will need a tweaked version of Windows before it'll be able to go mainstream, but The Verge said that the foldable screen folds "as advertised" and that Windows "worked well enough". That doesn't inspire confidence as it would be quick and dirty hands-on time and not a full detailed review over weeks and months of using it and folding the screen hundreds of times.
