NVIDIA RTX 5000 GPUs could have GDDR7, 384-bit bus, and 2x performance compared to Lovelace
NVIDIA's next-gen graphics cards (presumably RTX 5000 models) are set to use GDDR7 video RAM and run with a 384-bit memory bus (in the case of the flagship).
That's the latest rumor as aired on X (formerly Twitter) by RedGamingTech (the YouTube leaker) and backed up by Kopite7kimi (a regular contributor to GPU speculation on X).
We can expect bandwidth in the ballpark of 1.5TB/s, RedGamingTech tells us, and Kopite7kimi sees the fact that their sources marry up on this assertion as a 'confirmation' of GDDR7.
Update for Starfield patch fixes NVIDIA DLSS 3 blurring, ghosting and other issues
Starfield's beta patch that was recently brought out introducing DLSS support (among many other things) has just had some useful fixes and improvements applied.
The changes were outlined by Bethesda in release notes for the new version 1.8.84 update.
As mentioned, DLSS 3 just went live for the game, but there were some issues, notably around blurring and ghosting. (Problems are to be expected in beta testing, of course).
NASA has stopped sending commands to its Mars rover and helicopter
NASA has announced it stopped communicating with all its different types of robots that are exploring the surface of Mars.
The space agency explained that due to a "Mars solar conjunction", which is when the Earth and Mars are on opposite sides of the Sun, communications with its Mars-exploring robots have been put on hold over safety concerns. NASA officials explained that during a Mars solar conjunction, the hot ionized gas emitted from the Sun can potentially corrupt radio signals, leading to unexpected behaviors for the robots that receive them.
To prevent these corrupted radio signals from being received by Mars robots, the space agency has decided to halt all communications during the two-week period of the Mars solar conjunction. While communications are down with the rovers, that doesn't mean they are taking a two-week break from scientific operations, as Perseverance and Curiosity will be monitoring any changes in the Martian weather and radiation, while Ingenuity, NASA's Mars helicopter, will be using its color camera to study the movement of the Martian sand.

YouTube will soon be forcing creators to disclose AI-generated content in videos
For quite some time, YouTube has been against any content posted to its platform that has been technically manipulated, but now the Google-owned company has made what could be considered its biggest push yet to stop the spread of specific content that it believes may have the potential of harming viewers.
The latest YouTube rulebook change was announced on Tuesday via a blog post, and the world's largest video platform explained that its policy update will now require creators to add labels to their content before uploading. These labels would be applied to any "manipulated or synthetic content that is realistic, including using AI tools." The idea behind this change is to protect viewers from being misled by content that has been manipulated using AI tools, while also differentiating "realistic", or normal content.
Additionally, YouTube specified that this new rule change will be particularly important for content that discusses sensitive topics such as elections, ongoing conflicts, public health crises, or public officials. Ahead of YouTube's coming change, which is scheduled to be rolled out to YouTube's upload process sometime early next year, digital information experts have sounded the alarm over the exponential emergence of AI tools used to generate misleading content that is then shared across various social media platforms - potentially misleading the public.
Apple reportedly snags more than 35% of all Google's search revenue m
In open court on Monday an Alphabet witness said that Google pays 36% of its search advertising revenue from Safari directly to Apple, which equates to billions of dollars per year.
This information surfaced during a court battle between Google and the Department of Justice that is claiming Google has a monopoly on the Search Engine market. The jaw-dropping figure came from Alphabet's expert witness Kevin Murphy, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago, and was used to fight the Justice Department's claims that Google has a stranglehold on the both the Search Engine and advertising markets.
Notably, this figure wasn't expected to be revealed in court as both Google and Apple have made efforts to keep any of its search engine deals under wraps, citing potential anticompetitive effects. So, what is the agreement? It's quite simply. Google is paying Apple to keep Google Search as its primary search engine on Apple's Safari app, which comes pre-installed on every Apple device.

Scientists discover the supermassive black hole at the Milky Way's center is acting weird
Something strange is happening at the center of our Milky Way galaxy, or at least that is what scientists are reporting after observing the supermassive blackhole named Sagittarius A*.
At the center of the Milky Way galaxy is a supermassive black hole named Sagittarius A*, and while it's not considered to be very active, meaning it isn't consuming a large amount of its surroundings, it's still eating some material. Now, astrophysicists Gustavo Magallanes-Guijón and Sergio Mendoza of the National Autonomous University of Mexico have analyzed gamma-ray data on Sagittarius A* that was acquired by the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope in December 2022.
The astrophysicists began looking for any patterns within the data and discovered that every 76.32 minutes, the supermassive black hole shoots out a flare of gamma radiation, which is the most energetic wavelength range of light in the known universe. Furthermore, the team discovered a radio flare that happens as often as the gamma-ray flare. On top of that, the astrophysicists discovered an X-ray flare occurs every 149 minutes, double the periodicity of the gamma-ray flare.
Scientists find metal prosthetic hand buried with 600-year-old skeleton
A team of archaeologists have stumbled across an incredible find while excavating a skeleton that dates back to between 1450 and 1620.
In a new statement released by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation details the discovery of a metal prosthetic hand that was found alongside a skeleton. The team of researchers carbon dated the skeleton and discovered the man died likely between 1450 and 1620, and that the metal prosthetic was made from iron and used to replace four of his missing fingers.
The report states it's currently unclear exactly how the man lost his fingers, and that the discovery of a metal prosthetic leads researchers to believe that it was used to replace his amputated fingers. The team discovered the skeleton in a grave near a church in Freising, which is located close to the Bavarian state capital of Munich, Germany.
UFO whistleblower David Grusch reportedly refused to be interviewed by the Pentagon
UFO whistleblower David Grusch has taken a hit from the Pentagon UFO office, which is claiming the whistleblower has refused to be interviewed by the UFO-dedicated office.
For those that don't know, David Grusch is a US Air Force veteran who sounded the alarm on secret US government programs that involve military personnel encountering non-human intelligence and exotic alien spacecrafts. The claims from Grusch originally came from a one-hour interview with News Max where he claimed that he had been briefed by people both formerly and currently involved in these alleged secret US government programs.
Additionally, Grusch claimed that he had spoken to people who have worked on programs that concentrated on retrieving crashed UFOs - some of which included reports of personnel retrieving non-human biologics (aliens) from these crafts. These claims evolved into a hearing before Congress, where he was asked to provide more information on them. Most of Grusch's replies weren't specific and didn't reveal many damming details.
LG releases two new ultrawide gaming monitors that are cheaper than usual
LG is no stranger to the gaming monitor market, and in some cases, the company leads the pack of brands with high-quality display technology and gorgeous visuals.
Now, LG has sounded off on two new gaming monitors to add to its line-up of UltraGear displays. Introducing two new 45-inch ultrawide gaming displays, the 45GR65DC and the 45GR75DC. So, what are the differences? Technically, not much at all - albeit the changes are small, they are worth mentioning. Essentially, everything between these monitors is the same except for the inclusion of USB-C with 90W power delivery in the 45GR75DC.
Both of these monitors feature the following specifications; a resolution of 5120 x 1440, a 1500R curvature, VA panel, and support for 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Additionally, each display comes with support for VESA mounting, DisplayHDR 600, VESA Adaptive Sync technology, AMD FreeSync Premium, 1ms response time, and a 200Hz refresh rate. Intel's game boosting APO tech will remain exclusive to the new 14th Gen Core CPUs
Recently, we sat down with Intel's Roger Chandler to find out how the new APO multi-threading tech helps boost game performance on the new 14th Gen Intel Core CPUs - often with sizable double-digit bumps.
At the time, we noted that the new Intel Application Optimization (APO) tech was exclusive to the new Core i9 14900K and Core i7 14700K, and with Intel reiterating this 14th Gen exclusivity to tech channel Hardware Unboxed - it sounds like APO won't be making its way to 12th and 13th Gen products. This is strange when you factor in that the 14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh" shares architecture with previous-gen Core products.
APO is a software tool created to work alongside Thread Director (developed for Windows with Microsoft) to manage and optimize threads across Intel's Performance and Efficiency Cores, specifically for PC games. The new optimizations are tested with various games, and if there's a benefit, the existing policy in Thread Director is updated to deliver free performance.
Microsoft Store adds a new feature: you can now choose what drive to install a game on
Being able to choose what drive or directory to install a PC game on is not something you'd consider a luxury feature. It has been a point of contention for the Microsoft Store since the storefront debuted with Windows 8 in 2012. Fast forward to 2023, and the Microsoft Store app in Windows 11 (version 22310) has finally been updated to do just that - including the ability to install games like Starfield and Halo Infinite on an external drive.
You can now buy a game directly from the Microsoft Store and choose a drive or location on your PC to install it. To quote Jim Carrey from The Cable Guy, "The future is now!" For those using the Xbox app on Windows 10 or 11, you'll undoubtedly be aware that this has been a feature for a little while now - so it is great to see it finally make its way to the Microsoft Store proper.
It's just wild that it's taken so long and that Microsoft can tout what should be the norm as a brand-new feature coming to an app that has been around for over a decade.

Mechanical keyboards come in all shapes and sizes with different switches and levels of customization to suit any need. For those who love retro PC hardware from the 1990s, where grey and beige hardware was the order of the day, the new LOFREE BLOCK 98 wireless mechanical keyboard might be the keyboard you've been looking for.
Right off the bat, the minimal grey and beige aesthetics of this look awesome (yeah, count me as a fan of retro PC hardware) thanks to the touches of orange found on two knobs in the top right-hand corner. NVIDIA DLSS arrives in more games this week: Desynced, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and more
NVIDIA DLSS has evolved steadily over the years, and now the tech (alongside other upscaling methods) has become a major part of modern PC gaming - from DLSS 2 Super Resolution to the new DLSS 3 Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 40 Series owners. With DLSS 3, DLAA, and NVIDIA Reflex added to Bethesda's Starfield, we've got word from Team Green that RTX technologies are headed to a few more PC games this week.
For sci-fi, city-builder, and strategy game fans, the Early Access launch of Desynced is getting an update on November 16 that adds DLSS 3 support to the game. Based on NVIDIA's benchmarks using DLSS 'Performance' Mode in 4K, performance improvements are in the region of 2.2X. On the GeForce RTX 4070, the performance increases from 55.5 FPS to 129 FPS; on the GeForce RTX 4080, it increases from 93.7 FPS to 195.9 FPS; and on the GeForce RTX 4090, it increases from 130 FPS to a whopping 257.1 FPS.
With Early Access releases presenting incomplete versions of games, tech like DLSS can improve performance across a wide range of GeForce RTX hardware alongside regular optimizations and improvements.

Projects like Fallout: London are incredible because they look like an official Fallout 4 expansion or New Vegas-style spin-off. Developed by Team FOLON, an indie team that has been working on the ambitious mod for a few years now, Fallout: London shifts the focus to post-apocalyptic London, England, and in a new video shared by the development team, we get a good look at the game's many factions.
With factions inspired by Camelot and Arthurian legend, the punk scene, aristocracy, and 20th-century British military, it's a very different Fallout than we're used to seeing but one that still feels true to the franchise.
PCI-SIG announces new naming scheme for PCIe cables: CopprLink
PCI-SIG has just announced a brand new naming scheme for PCIe internal and external cables, which will be called CopprLink, while the company has also announced new PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 cables coming in 2024.
In a press release in my inbox, the PCI-SIG PR representative said that PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 internal and external cable specifications are currently in development and are "targeted for release" in 2024. PCI-SIG is attending SC23, the international conference for high-performance computing (HPC), networking, storage, and analysis. At the show, PCI-SIG announced its new CopprLink naming scheme.
PCI-SIG is the body behind the troublesome 12VHPWR power connector on NVIDIA's fleet of GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards, and while it provides up to 600W of power over a thinner cable, it has had its downsides. PCI-SIG went back to the drawing board and re-worked the cable, and now we're seeing a new naming scheme for PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 internal (and external) cables to CopprLink. I wonder how many people are going to use an "e" in that over the years, hah.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Ti spotted again, has a PCIe interface this time
NVIDIA already has the flagship GPU with its GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, but the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti was in production in some form -- I/O brackets, mammoth coolers -- and now the RTX 4090 Ti is here again.
The not-released GeForce RTX 4090 Ti graphics card prototype teased again features a huge quad-slot design and an interesting PCB orientation: a 90-degree angle into the motherboard. This is the first time we've seen an RTX 4090 Ti prototype with a PCIe interface, with previous RTX 4090 Ti prototypes only featuring the cooler or I/O bracket.
We've got some new shots from Reddit user "gamer2live," which could be the first complete shot of the RTX 4090 Ti prototype we've seen so far, with a riser and cooler installed. We don't know if the PCB is installed, but the PCIe port is there... now we need a shot of the PCB. The card itself has a gold-ish color to its cooler, and the TITAN RTX is handily there for some side-by-side comparison.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D teased, new 3D V-Cache gaming CPU champs on the cheap
AMD has some impressive tricks up its sleeve for gamers and content creators with its CPUs packing in-house 3D V-Cache technology, with two new offerings in the works: the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D processors.
The latest leaks are teasing the 8-core Ryzen 7 5700X3D, which will reportedly have a base clock of 3.0GHz and a boost clock of 4.1GHz. We expect the Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor to have CPU clocks 400MHz slower than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, one of the most popular CPUs of the last couple of years.
Secondly, we'll have the 6-core Ryzen 5 5500X3D processor with base CPU clocks of 3.0GHz and boost clocks of up to 4.0GHz, which leaves CPU clock speeds down 300MHz to 400MHz under the Ryzen 5 5600X3D processors. We are also being told that the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D processors will both have 96MB of 3D V-Cache.

NVIDIA has released a new GeForce driver bringing in some important improvements for a couple of big-name games, plus a bunch of useful fixes, too.
Version 546.17 of NVIDIA's Game Ready Driver provides better results for DLSS 3 in new games that carry the frame generation tech, and that includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Starfield.
Other games getting DLSS 3 this week are Desynced and Remnant 2 - The Awakened King, as NVIDIA announced on X (formerly Twitter).
