Batman: Return to Arkham drops on October 18

Emma Tucker | Gaming | Sep 6, 2016 7:11 PM CDT

The Bat is back! Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment announced that the Dark Knight will be returning to gaming screens in Batman: Return to Arkham. The remastered edition of the first two Batman games by Rocksteady in Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009) and Batman: Arkham City (2011) will be made available on the PS4 and Xbox One on October 18th.

The trailer compares the PS3 versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City to the PS4 version, with the colors much more vibrant, surfaces have greater depth, and the shading is better defined. The overall content is sharper and the quality is greater than seen on other platform games.

The remastered version will be an excellent addition to the Batman trilogy. With problems previously seen in the recall of Batman: Arkham Knight for PC, the launch of Batman: Return to Arkham had to be picture perfect without any performance issues during gameplay. So far the reviews and mood set by gamers/critics seems to be that the new edition is passing the quality test with flying colors.

John McAfee sues Intel over the right to use his name

Anthony Garreffa | Business, Financial & Legal | Sep 6, 2016 1:32 PM CDT

John McAfee is in the headlines again, this time, the founder of McAfee is suing chipmaker Intel, claiming that they don't have the right to use his name, throwing trademark issues into the mix.

McAfee recently joined MGT Capital Investments, an online gaming company, as its CEO and chairman, and had planned to rename the company to John McAfee Global Technologies Inc., but Intel owns McAfee's "trademarks, tradenames, and associated goodwill" and warned that McAfee would be infringing on those properties.

MGT and McAfee argued in a complaint to the New York District Court that "at no point in the Agreement did McAfee assign the rights to his personal name [...] or agree to restrict his right to do business using his own name", and that the agreement with Intel "did not contain any non-compete provisions of any kind".

Galaxy Note 7 recall could cost Samsung up to $1 billion

Earlier this week, Samsung issued a global recall of its new Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, and since it announced the news before the weekend, the stock market hasn't had time to reflect. Well, those hours are ticking past, and we're now walking right into the warm arms of Monday morning.

Bloomberg is reporting that Samsung has shipped around 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 smartphones since its launch on August 19, and if every single one of them is replaced, it will cost Samsung around $1 billion.

If you are like me, and have purchased (and love) your Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, you can opt into returning it to your place of purchase. Obviously you don't need to do this, but Samsung has said that each and every Galaxy Note 7 is affected by the fault, so if you want to play it safe, get your Note 7 swapped over as soon as you can.

Self-driving Uber cars spotted in San Francisco

Sean Ridgeley | Electric Vehicles & Cars | Sep 6, 2016 10:36 AM CDT

Almost four months after being spotted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, self-driving Uber cars have shown up in the streets of San Francisco, California, according to an SFist report.

The vehicles in question sport the sensor array and Uber ATC logo, indicating they are the real deal.

The company is not publicly listed as having a testing permit in the state, so either a permit has been required very recently and the information has not been updated, or it's circumventing laws, as it's been known to do before. Uber declined to comment on the reports.

Google reportedly working on Nexus 7 successor

Google's older Nexus 7 tablet from 2013 was one of the first popular Android-based tablets, as it had a great price, fast internals and an at-the-time fast processor, that let it stand away from the iPad and make its own impression on the tablet market. Well, rumor has it Google is working on a Nexus 7 successor with Huawei.

The rumor is coming from notorious leaker Evan '@evleaks' Blass, who has said that Huawei will be manufacturing the new 7-inch tablet, and it'll be released before the end of 2016.

Previous reports have stated that Google will drop the Nexus branding from its upcoming smartphones, and instead they'll be called Pixel and Pixel XL. If the new tablet is on its way from Google, it shouldn't be a stretch of the imagination that it'll be called the Pixel Tablet, should it?

iPhone 7 rumored to be capable of shooting 4K at 60FPS

Apple's new iPhone is causing a massive stir and it's not even here yet, with our latest report that the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones will ship with 'AirPods' in the box: wireless earphones because the new iPhone will not have a 3.5mm connector.

Another rumor has surfaced on the new iPhone, that is teasing that Apple's next big thing will shoot 4K video at 60FPS. This might not sound like much, but there are no smartphones on the market right now that shoot 4K 60FPS video, but there are plenty that shoot 4K video, just at a much lower 30FPS.

The new iPhone will also reportedly ship with a dual-camera, and it won't just be on the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, but the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 7, too.

Nintendo next-gen NX console to bring back cartridges

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Sep 6, 2016 5:36 AM CDT

The rumors on Nintendo's next-gen NX console are flying thick and fast, but the latest rumor has me intrigued: Nintendo will be moving back to cartridges for its NX console, according to The Wall Street Journal. The WSJ says that "people familiar with the matter" said that Nintendo will "adopt cartridges for its next-generation" NX console.

Physical media in the games industry is still a very large business thanks to cheap manufacturing and storage of discs, versus every single gamer who purchases every single game needing to download tens of gigabytes of data for a single game. Industry insiders have said that cartridges were a reasonable choice for Nintendo's next-gen NX console, because the Japanese giant goes after a much wider range of consumers compared to Microsoft and Sony.

Atsushi Osanai, an ex-Sony employee said that "no doubt today's best format to physically distribute games", and with cartridges being tougher than discs that can be scratched, Nintendo might have a big win with NX.

PS4 Slim teardown video appears ahead of its unveiling

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Sep 6, 2016 3:54 AM CDT

Sony should just come out and at least announce it has a PS4 Slim on the way after all of these leaks, but that's what the PSM event on September 7 is all about. Until then, we have a new teardown video on the PS4 Slim to enjoy:

The next-gen Surface Pro 5 could feature Kaby Lake CPU

Anthony Garreffa | Laptops | Sep 6, 2016 3:28 AM CDT

Microsoft has been making steady progress with its Surface Pro line of tablets, and now the world is looking to the next-gen Surface Pro 5 as the product that could really begin hurting the MacBook line from Apple.

The next-gen Surface Pro 5 is expected to rock Intel's new Kaby Lake processor, which is based on the 14nm process. On top of the beefier CPU, the new Surface Pro 5 could rock a 4K-capable display and USB-C connectivity. Microsoft could tap either NVIDIA or AMD for the GPU side of the Surface Pro 5, with their new Pascal and Polaris architectures, respectively.

There are also new rumors that Microsoft could unveil a new 'Surface Pen' that would replace the AAAA battery-powered stylus, and more in line with Apple Pencil, and the improved S-Pen on the recently recalled Galaxy Note 7 smartphone from Samsung.

Daniel Craig in rumored $150m James Bond deal

Ben Gourlay | Celebrities & Entertainment | Sep 5, 2016 11:36 PM CDT

After portraying the role of secret Agent James Bond for four feature films, actor Daniel Craig wasn't exactly hiding the fact that he didn't want to come back whilst on the publicity trailer for last year's 'Spectre', saying he'd only return "for the money". If an upcoming report is true, the actor has been offered 'Goldfinger' sums to come back.

According to a report published by Radar Online, MGM has attempted to lure the actor back by offering a record-breaking $150m salary, with a unnamed source claiming they plan to "shoot two more films, which will be made virtually back-to-back, preferably featuring Daniel as 007 before he passes the figurative baton to someone else for a third movie that will mark the start of the new era".

Daniel Craig's last two appearances in 'Skyfall' and 'Spectre' have grossed $2 billion worldwide combined.
