PlayStation is moving towards online-driven live service games across consoles, PC, and mobile, and its latest strategic acquisitions reflect its new plans.

Sony is going all-in on two of gaming's biggest money-makers: Live services, led by billion-dollar titans like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Minecraft, and mobile, who is dominated by the likes of Honor of Kings and Candy Crush. To successfully break into these markets, Sony will need lots of expertise and know-how. The company has been building its foundation with solid acquisitions, but it may need more teams to make its plans come to fruition.

Sony's latest 2022 Business Strategy Meeting details its grand ambitions to make at least 12 live games by 2025, and to make sure mobile accounts for 20% of its first-party releases by the same year. This is no small feat for a company that has primarily released big-budget singleplayer system-sellers like Horizon, God of War, and Spider-Man.

In a recent 2022 Business Strategy Meeting presentation, Sony has confirmed its plans for significant expansion across PC and mobile. By 2025, Sony expects a whopping 20% of its first-party titles onto mobile. This aligns with the company's heavy push into live services as most mobile titles should be live games.

Sony is going all-in on mobile gaming. The billion-dollar games-maker announced that it is shifting its core focus to include PC and mobile, and plans to use Fate Grand Order, its only big mobile hit, as a template.

In a recent business segment report, Sony executives confirmed that Lasengle is not only making new premium, high-quality mobile games for its PlayStation division, but also helping synergize with other projects and teams.

Antec has introduced its new open-air Cannon gaming case, which features a rather unique design -- allowing for your graphics card to be mounted vertically -- on either the front or the left side of the case.

The new Antec Cannon case lets you mount your GPU where your AIO radiator would normally go, with the company including a PCIe 4.0-capable riser in the box. Speaking of radiators, Antec says that its new open-air Cannon PC case can handle 3 x 360mm radiators, simultaneously.

GPU mounting can be done on the left of the Antec Cannon, where you can install your GPU either sideways, or mount it vertically with the GPU bracket. If you GPU is being installed at the front of the case (oh man, that would look SO good) then you can install a water pump adjacent to the motherboard for the ultimate in style + performance + once again, style.

A study on the new battery technology titled "Li[Ni_0.5Mn_0.3Co_0.2]O₂ As a Superior Alternative to LiFePO₄ for Long-Lived Low Voltage Li-Ion Cells" has been published in the Journal of the Electrochemical Society.

Researchers from the Tesla Advanced Battery Research in Canada have released a new paper with Jeff Dahn's battery lab at Dalhousie University. They describe a new nickel-based battery that would retain comparable charging and energy density to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells even after 100 years if temperature-controlled to 25 °C.

Dahn is hailed as one of the pioneers of lithium-ion battery cells and is helped to increase their life cycle and thus commercialization. These new batteries are supposedly the best of both worlds, competing with the longevity of LFP battery cells while retaining the higher energy density associated with nickel-based batteries.

Astronaut Matthias Maurer from the European Space Agency (ESA) returned to Earth on May 6th, 2022, after a 176-day stay aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Speaking with German broadcaster ARD, Maurer recounted what he could see from space as the war in Ukraine unfolded after starting on February 24th, 2022, about a week after passing three months aboard the station. Maurer said the war "was clearly visible to the naked eye from space," noting "huge black columns of smoke over cities like Mariupol."

Maurer described seeing the country around the time the war began, saying, "the whole country went dark at night," but people aboard the station particularly recognized Kyiv. Within the first days of the war, they could "see lightning at night" and even explosions from "rockets hitting."

AMD's next-gen RDNA 3 GPU architecture will debut later this year, with major testing going on right now: one of those tests involves the confirmation of the next-gen DisplayPort 2.0 standard on Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards of the future.

In a new tweet discovered by "Kepler," we see that AMD has kicked off putting patches for DisplayPort 2.0 UHBR (Ultra-High-Bit-Rate) certification. DisplayPort 2.0 UHBR comes in UHBR10, UHBR13.5, and UHBR20 standards with varying bandwidth, resolution, and refresh rate support.

Why do we need DP2.0 UHBR20? Well, 16K at 60Hz (with DSC) is pretty damn impressive... the same goes for 10K @ 60Hz, and what will be my favorite: 4K @ 240Hz. All over a single cable.

A recent CNBC interview with Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess revealed where he sees the company's place in the electric vehicles market going.

Diess spoke to CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on May 24th, claiming that once Volkswagen has addressed global supply chain constraints due to the war in Ukraine and semiconductor supplies issues. The global semiconductor has impacted a vast number of industries, including the automotive industry, restricting the number of vehicles they can produce.

Diess expects that semiconductor supply issues will alleviate as the year goes on, and Volkswagen's production can bounce back. Though Tesla had the highest market share for all-electric cars sold worldwide in 2021 at 21 percent, Volkswagen is starting to catch up with 10 percent market share. Tesla sold 936,000, while Volkswagen sold 451,000, so they still have a ways to go.

A study on the civilization titled "Lidar reveals pre-Hispanic low-density urbanism in the Bolivian Amazon" has been published in the journal Nature.

Researchers have used airborne light detection and ranging (LIDAR) from a helicopter while flying over the Amazon basin to reveal evidence of previously unknown settlements. These ruins were built by a lost pre-Hispanic civilization and confirm that the region was capable of sustaining large populations of people.

Thousands of infrared LIDAR pulses per second revealed two large settlements (147 hectares and 315 hectares) and more connected by a network of roads and causeways. The settlements also had a "massive water-management infrastructure" that utilized canals and reservoirs. The new findings show the Casarabe culture from the Llanos de Mojos region of the Amazon basin extended much further than was previously known.

GIGABYTE has just confirmed that all of its AIO liquid coolers and its tower fans for multi-platforms, have brackets for AMD's new Socket AM5.

AMD's new Socket AM5 (LGA1718) will be ready for the world of the next-gen Zen 4 architecture and upcoming Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, with GIGABYTE saying that all of its current coolers will work on the new AM5 socket without having to buy any additional brackets or fans.

GIGABYTE takes into consideration the platform variation in the initial design stage of its AIO liquid cooler and tower fans. GIGABYTE first confirmed the continuity of the AM4 brackets on the new AM5 platform, and then tested out all of its AIO liquid coolers and towier fans to make sure they all worked... and had optimal thermal performance on the new platform "through rigorous tests".

A study on the new robots titled "Submillimeter-scale multimaterial terrestrial robots" has been published in the journal Science Robotics.

Exploratory research by engineers from Northwestern University has led to the creation of the smallest controllable robot yet, in the form of a crab smaller than the size of a flea. It can jump, bend, twist, crawl, walk, and turn without being powered by hydraulics, electricity, or other complex hardware.

The crab is controlled by applying a laser beam to its various body parts, heating them and causing them to change shape. The shape-memory alloy material used to construct the crab allows it to return to its original form once it has cooled. The robot's size allows it to cool very quickly, and using a scanning laser enables it to move in the direction the laser scans.

Family Guy star and actor Seth Green recently debuted a new trailer for his new upcoming TV show called "White Horse Tavern" at Gary Vaynerchuk's VeeCon.

Recently taking to Twitter, Green revealed that he has fallen victim to a common phishing scam where he lost one Bored Ape, two Mutant Apes and one Doodle NFT. Not only has Green been impacted monetarily from the scam, but it has opened up a can of worms when it comes to copyright laws as the TV show is based around Bored Ape Yacht Club #8398 (Fred Simian), which Green now no longer officially owns.

Since an NFT is proof of ownership, and Green has now been scammed the NFT, he no longer has the commercial rights to use that Bored Ape as the main character of the show, as the rights have been moved onto the current owner. However, Green has argued that since the "art was stolen" the current owner doesn't hold commercial rights, as would be the case if the transaction was made with real money.

It has been some 20 years since scientists created the first complete reference human genome that contained approximately 3 billion DNA letters, but now some improvements are being suggested.

The first complete reference human genome has been added to over the years, with approximately two million additional variations of the code being included in the model. Now, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been discussing how that model could be placed into a storage system, but on a far larger scale. Musk replied to a tweet that provided a graph on the size of a human genome in data, which stated the human genome is 3.3 Gb in size, the HIV virus is only 9.7 kb, and the largest known vertebrate genome is 130 Gb.

Antonio Regalado, the senior editor for biomedicine for MIT Technology Review, pointed out that the storage for a human genome DNA sequence is "more like 100 gigabytes" due to the extra information from sequencing. Furthermore, Musk went on to speculate that with a "lossless compression delta" and having "a few reference human genomes", one could "probably fit the DNA sequences of all humans alive today in a fairly small data storage system."

A new exclusive multi-year agreement between ABEC and GOOD Meat has just been struck, paving the way for a new bioreactor.

The new deal between GOOD Meat and ABEC will bring ten 250,000-liter bioreactors to GOOD Meat's large meat facility that, when construction is completed, is expected to produce 15,000 tons of meat per year without killing a single animal. The new facility will be designed to produce chicken and beef while also having the capabilities of distributing its products to millions of Americans across the country.

NASA has revealed that in 2015 a group of researchers discovered two species of shark living within an active underwater volcano.

The underwater volcano called Kavachi, located in the Soloman Islands, entered into an eruptive phase in October 2021, and as a result, satellite images showed discolored water coming from the submarine volcano located 15 miles south of Vangunu island.

Notably, researchers in 2015 on an expedition discovered two species of shark living within the active crater which seemed to be able to survive in the superheated, acidic, and sulfur-rich water. Experts believe that the sharks must have mutated by some degree to be able to survive in the extreme environment.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has taken to his personal Twitter account to share some images of SpaceX's Falcon 9 doing what it does best.

The SpaceX CEO posted an image of the Falcon 9 rocket that recently lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on May 25, carrying 59 small satellites into orbit. The "rideshare" mission is titled Transporter 5, as SpaceX's rocket is carrying multiple satellites designed for various purposes from a variety of different customers.

As represented by the name, SpaceX's Transporter 5 mission marks the fifth time the company has conducted a small satellite rideshare mission, with the first rideshare mission being in January 2021, when a Falcon 9 transported 143 satellites into orbit. Musk posted an image of the Falcon 9 going supersonic as it barreled its way through Earth's atmosphere before the first stage of the rocket separated to fall back down to Earth and land in the same place it took off from.

A new filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revealed that Elon Musk has switched up his plan to purchase Twitter.

While the deal to purchase Twitter for $44 billion seems to be still going ahead despite Musk's claims that it was put on hold until Twitter proved that spam bots account for less than 5% of the platform's total users. According to a financial filing made public on Wednesday, May 25, Musk has switched his personal funding for the purchase from $27.3 billion to $33.5 billion while also locking down an additional $6.25 billion in equity financing, which has, in turn, reduced Musk's total amount of debt he would take on after completing the purchase.

Notably, Musk originally took out a $12.5 billion margin loan against his Tesla shares, which has now been reduced to the previously mentioned $6.25 billion after Musk found more funding. Furthermore, Musk is still in talks with potential investors, with publications reporting the Tesla CEO is talking to former Twitter CEO and founder Jack Dorsey.

A modder is currently working on a new Elden Ring mod that will bring seamless co-op to FromSoftware's latest title.

The mod is created by LukeYui, and while Elden Ring already supports co-op, the new mod will allow players to explore the Land Between more as players who join a friend will no longer be confined to bosses or certain areas. The mod is expected to enter public beta on May 27, and as displayed in the above video, players are able to receive shared rewards from enemies, engage in PvP, and even spectate the other player if they have died.

While many Elden Ring players are excited about the coming mod, there is a decently large group of players against its addition due to the mod not supporting any of FromSoftware's online services, which means that invasions aren't possible. If many of Elden Ring's player base download the mod, it will separate the total player base into players who are playing Elden Ring "offline" with the mod and those who are available for an invasion via FromSoftware's online services.

LG launched multiple new UltraGear gaming monitors at Computex 2022 this week, but the two smaller 27-inch gaming monitors are the very first with VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification.

The new LG UltraGear 27GP950 and 27GP850 both feature a 27-inch Nano IPS-based panel, with LG announcing the two monitors "fulfilled the mandated scores across VESA's Adaptive-Sync Display CTS, including numerous fundamental measures such as refresh rate, screen flicker, and response time".

Well, the new logo will help customers work out and compare the variable rate refresh (VRR) performance of the gaming display, before they purchase it. When you're buying a premium gaming monitor, the new logo will help you absolutely know that, I guess.

Samsung has absolutely dominated the foldable smartphone market, with competitor Google and its purported foldable smartphone still waiting in the wings... nowhere to be seen, and now reportedly delayed.

Google was expected to unveil its new foldable products at its recent Google I/O 2022 conference, but it didn't happen. The Elec reports: "Google has postponed the launch of its first foldable smartphone again". Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) has now tweeted: "Hearing from multiple sources in their supply chain that the Google foldable launch was delayed till next spring..."

We don't exactly know why the foldable Pixel was delayed, but rumor has it Google isn't happy with the design of its foldable. Especially in the fact of Samsung and its now third-gen foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable smartphones.
