ZOTAC GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme ARIO spotted, new cooler, design

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 12, 2022 9:40 PM CDT

ZOTAC's new GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO graphics card has been spotted, turning up on the Baidu forums with a sneak peek at the re-designed cooler and new retail packaging.

ZOTAC GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme ARIO spotted, new cooler, design

NVIDIA should be announcing its next-gen Ada Lovelace GPU architecture at its upcoming GTC 2022 event, where the company has announced its new "GeForce Beyond" special broadcast, where we're expecting to see the new GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards announced (at least one: the new GeForce RTX 4090).

AIB partners are now making their custom GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards, with ZOTAC's upcoming GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO graphics card featuring a new design, a wicked-looking (and chunky) backplate, and what appears to be plenty of RGB lighting. ZOTAC has also updated its retail packaging here -- with the new font that we've seen in recent leaks on NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics card -- where you can see in the bottom left, and top of the box has new font for the "GeForce RTX 4090" branding.

Intel GPU boss Raja Koduri addresses Arc GPU cancelled rumors, kinda

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 12, 2022 8:43 PM CDT

Intel seems to be addressing rumors that its future-gen Arc desktop GPUs have been nixxed with a few tweets from ex-RTG boss over at competitor AMD, Raja Koduri.

Intel GPU boss Raja Koduri addresses Arc GPU cancelled rumors, kinda

Raja posted a new picture after the story broke that the "decision had been made" to cancel the Intel Arc desktop GPUs and that we might not even get to see Arc "Celestial" launch. Intel hasn't got its Arc "Alchemist" GPU to market yet, while Arc "Battlemage" drops next year... it seems that Battlemage is going to be a single low-end or mid-range die versus an exciting new multi-die GPU.

The picture that Raja posted was of the Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition graphics card that he "bumped into" at the Toronto volume validation lab, adding that the GPU is still "getting ready for launch".

GIGABYTE's new GeForce RTX 4090 listed in Australia for under $3000

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 11, 2022 9:27 PM CDT

It seems it's the week for NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 4090 with multiple stories on the new graphics card, where we've seen 3GHz+ GPU clocks, a new rumored early/mid-October release, and now a listing for the new flagship Ada Lovelace GPU down in Australia.

GIGABYTE's new GeForce RTX 4090 listed in Australia for under $3000

A new listing on Computers Perth in Western Australia (just to the west of me, I'm personally based in South Australia) has the custom GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC graphics card listed for $4270 AUD (incl. GST which is 10%) which drops it to around $3900 AUD.

Converting that to USD, we're looking at around $2600 or so, which makes it over twice as expensive as the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which it -- and the rest of the RTX 30 series GPUs -- have enjoyed health price reductions in recent months. We saw listings of close to $5000 with custom GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards like the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3090 Ti being listed for $4577 at the time.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 teased with 3GHz+ GPU, 2x faster than RTX 3090

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 11, 2022 8:58 PM CDT

The last we heard on the GPU clock speed of NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 4090 had the AD102 GPU pegged at 2750MHz+ but now we're hearing it'll be closer to 3GHz which is kinda crazy for NVIDIA.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 teased with 3GHz+ GPU, 2x faster than RTX 3090

NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card is now getting some juicy new leaks on the Chiphell forums, where the alleged (lots of salt for these rumors) where 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme has been benchmarked. The graphics score hits an astonishing 20,192 points... which is a huge upgrade up from the 11,300+ on the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, and 10,000+ on the GeForce RTX 3090.

The GPU clocks on the AD102 GPU were reportedly hitting 3015MHz which is just 15MHz over 3GHz, but it counts... NVIDIA's current flock of Ampere GPUs can't wish to do that without the use of a heavily-binned GPU and the use of LN2 cooling to keep it stable at 3GHz. The last we heard from the GPU rumor mill was that the GeForce RTX 4090 would have 2.75GHz+ GPU clocks, but now if these rumors are true, 3GHz+ shouldn't be too hard for the RTX 4090.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 in October, RTX 4080 + RTX 4070 in November

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 11, 2022 8:30 PM CDT

NVIDIA is gearing up to tease what should be the next-gen Ada Lovelace GPU architecture and new GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards at its Project Beyond event later this month... and now we have an updated release schedule.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 in October, RTX 4080 + RTX 4070 in November

We are looking at an early/mid-October release for the flagship NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, while the GeForce RTX 4080 and the GeForce RTX 4070 (or RTX 4070 Ti) are launching in early/mid-November, according to leaker Moore's Law is Dead.

The last we heard was from old rumors from months ago, where NVIDIA was meant to launch the GeForce RTX 4090 by now... previous rumors had RTX 4090 launching in August and the RTX 4080 + RTX 4070 in September. Well, spoiler alert... it's now September and there are no cards, but we do have the "Project Beyond" event and should expect the RTX 4090 in October, and RTX 4080 + RTX 4070 in November.

NVIDIA updating mid-range GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X in October

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 11, 2022 8:05 PM CDT

NVIDIA is reportedly preparing new versions of its mid-range GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards, launching in October -- which should see the new mid-range Ampere GPUs launching alongside NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs.

NVIDIA updating mid-range GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X in October

The rumors on the new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti are coming from leaker "MegaSizeGPU" while VideoCardz reports that their source has "now confirmed that at least two of the models are planned, and they should be expected by the end of October".

The new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will reportedly be getting better VRAM, with NVIDIA rumored to be using GDDR6X memory on the new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. The current GeForce RTX 3060 Ti has 8GB of GDDR6 memory at 14Gbps bandwidth on a 256-bit memory bus with up to 448GB/sec of memory bandwidth, while the new RTX 3060 Ti will have the same 8GB framebuffer, but with beefed up GDDR6X -- the "X" is big here.

Intel Arc GPU effectively cancelled: 'decision has been made'

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 10, 2022 7:21 AM CDT

Oh boy... here we are... back again with Intel Arc GPU department doom news. The last time I did this was the end of July, and I've had quite a few clicks, and phone calls and my personal Twitter has exploded since I reported that Intel's Arc GPU is so, so bad that it would be canceled altogether.

Intel Arc GPU effectively cancelled: 'decision has been made'

Well, here we are once again... and we have leaker Moore's Law is Dead reporting (once again, but this time with more meat, or should I say salt for the rumor mill) that Intel's desktop Arc GPU is so bad that, that Intel has canceled discrete Arc GPUs internally. MLID says it's not because Intel doesn't have the balls to hit the GPU market and compete against AMD and NVIDIA... but rather from a financial perspective (and I'm sure a lot more behind the scenes) they just can't do it.

As Tom says, it doesn't make him happy to tell his audience this news... as a third entry into the GPU market would be great for his channel. Great for me personally as a nerd and enthusiast, professionally as I cover GPUs professionally here for TweakTown (and now for over 12 years). But... Arc Alchemist, Tom wishes would compete against AMD and NVIDIA and that Battlemage would come in and smash it... but he knows it won't.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with 16GB + 12GB GDDR6X launching at same time

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 7, 2022 9:28 PM CDT

We are hearing that NVIDIA will be offering up gamers not one, but two GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card SKUs: one with 16GB of GDDR6X, and another that has 12GB of GDDR6X memory.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with 16GB + 12GB GDDR6X launching at same time

That is some of the very latest from the rumor mill on the GeForce RTX 4080, but the same leaker "MEGAsizeGPU" also said that the RTX 4080 with 12GB of GDDR6X memory will have a 10-layer PCB design, while the RTX 4080 with 16GB of GDDR6X memory uses a 12-layer PCB design.

Normally we'd see one of these SKUs released at launch but not both, with the leaker saying that NVIDIA will be unveiling both the GeForce RTX 4080 with 16GB of GDDR6X memory and GeForce RTX 4080 with 12GB of GDDR6X both at the same time. We have seen varying VRAM amounts on its GPUs for a while -- the latest with Ampere and its GeForce RTX 3080 with 10GB, 12GB, and hell, even 20GB in the wild recently -- but launching at the same time is going to be interesting.

NVIDIA teases Project Beyond: next-gen GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 7, 2022 8:12 PM CDT

NVIDIA seems to have kicked off the marketing campaign for its next-gen GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs and the upcoming Ada Lovelace GPU architecture with a very brief 9-second video on Twitter and the hashtag #ProjectBeyond.

NVIDIA teases Project Beyond: next-gen GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs

What is Project Beyond? Well, if I had to guess... it's NVIDIA's next-gen Ada Lovelace GPU architecture and upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards. We're expecting to see NVIDIA release the GeForce RTX 4090, GeForce RTX 4080, and GeForce RTX 4070 which it seems NVIDIA is beginning to hype.

"Project Beyond" also leans into the project beyond what we have now, right? Ampere is here, and beyond that we have Ada Lovelace... makes sense, NVIDIA. I guess we'll see more and more as the days and weeks go on, leading into GTC 2022 and then a release in October. NVIDIA loves September GPU releases, so we should expect a late September announcement (and hopefully release) with more cards (custom AIB models) of the upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series GPU now known as "Project Beyond" in October onwards.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition renders ahoy, larger fan used

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 7, 2022 6:33 PM CDT

NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card is back in the headlines, this time in Founders Edition form, where we are either looking at really good creative renders of NVIDIA's upcoming Ada Lovelace GPU-powered GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics card... or this is a helluva leak and a sneak peek at Ada.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition renders ahoy, larger fan used

The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics card looks like it features a slightly bigger fan on the front of the card, where I've got a picture that I took for my review of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics card, where you can see the design is very, very similar -- virtually identical -- but the fan is slightly bigger.

The new renders of the purported GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics card are coming from "QbitLeaks" with the second image (below) looking like it's being reflected by a mirror or very (clean) and reflective surface (maybe it's ray-traced reflections on Ada Lovelace).

Intel says its Arc A770, Arc A750 are both launching 'very soon'

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 6, 2022 8:45 PM CDT

Intel has confirmed that its Arc Alchemist GPUs will be launching "very soon" during a recent interview with PC Games Hardware and Digital Foundry.

Intel says its Arc A770, Arc A750 are both launching 'very soon'

During the interview, Intel GPU marketing duo Ryan Shrout and Tom Peterson said that the desktop launch of Arc will include the Arc A770 and Arc A750 graphics cards. Intel will be launching the Arc A770 SKU with 8GB and 16GB configurations, but the Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition graphics card will only be available in 16GB. AIB partners can choose to have an Arc A770 with either 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 memory.

We also got to know more about the performance side of Intel Arc A770 and A750, where the Arc A770 will find itself between NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards, but faster than AMD's Radeon RX 6600 XT. Intel is promising ray tracing performance that will match the same graphics cards, but the team did make it clear that the Arc A770 graphics card won't be competing with the GeForce RTX 3070.

Intel GPU ASIC team tease: next-gen Battlemage, Celestial GPUs coming

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 5, 2022 10:22 PM CDT

Intel's next-gen GPUs are being talked about before gamers have the current-gen Arc Alchemist graphics card in their hands, with the Intel GPU ASIC team working on next-gen "Battlemage" and "Celestial" GPUs already.

Intel GPU ASIC team tease: next-gen Battlemage, Celestial GPUs coming

We are hearing more about Intel's future GPU plans through an interview with Intel's Tom Peterson and PCGamer, where Peterson said that most of the ASIC team is working on the next-gen Battlemage GPU, while a "small portion" are on their future GPU: Celestial.

Intel hasn't even got its Arc Alchemist GPUs ready for consumers and gamers yet, but the Intel GPU ASIC team is already onto (hopefully) bigger and better things. The software team at Intel has been making great strides, getting the pot holes inside of their drivers and compatibility up to scratch over the last couple of months. Things aren't all doom-and-gloom at Team Blue.

GPU market share: NVIDIA commands with 80%, leaves AMD with 20%

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 5, 2022 9:18 PM CDT

We know that NVIDIA commands around 75-80% of the discrete GPU market share, but the latest Jon Peddie Research report notes that yeah... NVIDIA still owns the GPU market.

GPU market share: NVIDIA commands with 80%, leaves AMD with 20%

JPR's latest report notes that add-in-board market share saw NVIDIA increase up to 79% of the discrete GPU market share in Q2 2022, up from 75% in Q1 2022, and up from 80% back this time last year in Q2 2021. AMD is back down to 20% of the discrete GPU market share, down from 24% in Q1 2022, but back to the same 20% that the company had in Q2 2021.

We also see that Intel has eaten that 1% left of the discrete GPU market share in the last couple of quarters, whereas Intel now has (probably less than) 1% of the GPU market share according to JPR data. This is the same as last quarter, but up from 0% (because Intel didn't have discrete GPUs then) back in Q2 2021.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 with 20GB memory: under $600 on sale in China

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 5, 2022 8:56 PM CDT

It seems that leading into NVIDIA's next-gen Ada Lovelace GPU architecture being unleashed, we're hearing all sorts of rumors on the new RTX 40 series GPUs... but now we're seeing the GeForce RTX 3080 with 20GB of GDDR6X hitting shelves in China.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 with 20GB memory: under $600 on sale in China

MSI's custom GeForce RTX 3080 20GB VENTUS 3X OC graphics card is now making the rounds on social media, which is different from the one that hit Russian markets a year ago now in August 2021 in the form of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 20GB of GDDR6X memory. To be clear: the RTX 3080 ships with 10GB of GDDR6X memory and the RTX 3080 Ti ships with 12GB of GDDR6X memory... so these new VRAM configurations are cool to see.

GPU mining is winding down for Ethereum, so crypto market farms are now switching to mining alternative cryptocurrencies or selling their hardware. Some of them are selling up, and this is how we're discovering that alternate and unreleased graphics cards were being used to mine cryptocurrency. The unreleased GeForce RTX 3080 with 20GB of GDDR6X memory is one of them.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 rumors: 16GB and 12GB variants from AIBs

Anthony Garreffa | Sep 5, 2022 8:30 PM CDT

NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card will be available in two variants: one with 16GB of GDDR6X memory, and another with 12GB of GDDR6X memory.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 rumors: 16GB and 12GB variants from AIBs

According to the latest from leaker "MEGAsizeGPU" on Twitter, there will be two different PCBs for each of the GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card models. The GeForce RTX 4080 with 12GB of GDDR6X memory will feature a 10-layer PCB which will be used for both the reference design and AIC custom models.

The higher-end GeForce RTX 4080 with 16GB of GDDR6X memory will have a 12-layer PCB, while the GeForce RTX 4090 reportedly has a 14-layer PCB design. This means that the higher-end RTX 4080 with 16GB of GDDR6X memory with its 12-layer PCB matches the 12-layer PCBs on both the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. The leaker does note that the "4080 12G has a completely different PCB design from 4080 16G".
