NVIDIA working with AIBs 'around the clock' on GeForce RTX 4090s blowing up
NVIDIA is in some serious hot water over the 16-pin "12VHPWR" power adapter with its new flagship GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, with multiple reports of cards catching fire and the "12VHPWR" power adapter melting, or worse.
The story gets juicier now with Igor's Lab reporting that NVIDIA reportedly notified all of its AIB partners that all damaged cards that they receive back from consumers, need to be sent directly to NVIDIA HQ for "failure analysis".
This news lines up with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang flying out to Taiwan to meet with TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) to nail 3nm wafers for its next-gen Blackwell GPUs... but maybe Uncle Jensen was calming AIB partners down as they're about to get reamed with returns, bad reviews from customers, and more.
NVIDIA CEO flies to Taiwan, secures TSMC 3nm wafers for next-gen GPUs in 2024
NVIDIA had had a shaky start to its new Ada Lovelace GPU architecture, with the launch of the GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card being successful -- selling quicker than most expected, but it's been hit with controversy as well -- RTX 4090 cards catching fire, and the 16-pin "12VHPWR" power connector melting.
Not only that, but NVIDIA also "unlaunched" the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB graphics card that surely pissed AIB partners off who were gearing up their custom GeForce RTX 4080 12GB cards (and retail packaging).
Now there are reports that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has flown to Taiwan, to meet with TSMC to make sure that the company secures 3nm wafers for its next-gen GPUs that won't see the light of day until 2024. Jensen also reportedly met with multiple AIB partners, giving them a personal update on their existing GeForce RTX 30 series "Ampere" GPUs.
AMD's next-gen Radeon RX 7000 'RDNA 3' GPUs get Vulcan 1.3 support
AMD will be unveiling their next-gen RDNA 3 GPU architecture and at least a couple of members of the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics card family on November 3, but ahead of that the RDNA 3 GPUs get official Vulkan 1.3 support.
The Vulkan 1.3 specification was unleashed earlier this year in January 2022, supported by all three major GPU vendors: AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA. NVIDIA's just-launched GeForce RTX 4090 powered by the Ada Lovelace GPU architecture has support for the latest Vulkan 1.3.3.1 specification, with AMD's new Radeon RX 7000 series and the new RDNA 3 GPU architecture supporting Vulkan 1.3, too.
The conformance list for Vulkan 1.3 has the Intel Arc A-series GPUs, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 and RTX 40 series GPUs, as well as AMD and its upcoming "RDNA 3 sGPU" product family. AMD themselves have confirmed that some of their "undisclosed products" based on the RDNA 3 GPU family have successfully completed Vulkan 1.3.3.1 conformity test suite.

Manli intros GeForce RTX 3060 with 8GB GDDR6 memory at 15Gbps (not GDDR6X)
Manli has released its new custom GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, with virtually identical specs to the GeForce RTX 3060 with 12GB of GDDR6 memory.
The new GeForce RTX 3060 has 8GB of GDDR6 clocked at 15Gbps but it's on a smaller 128-bit memory bus with up to 240GB/sec of memory bandwidth. Manli makes a GeForce RTX 3060 LHR (Lite Hash Rate) graphics card with 12GB of GDDR6, with this card being identical to the card except for the less VRAM, and slower memory bus.
The higher-end GeForce RTX 3060 with 12GB GDDR6 memory is on a wider 192-bit memory bus, with far higher memory bandwidth of up to 360GB/sec, so the cull down to 8GB GDDR6 + 240GB/sec memory bandwidth is significant.
AMD Instinct MI100 with Arcturus GPU pictured without cooler, beautiful card
AMD released its CDNA-based Instinct MI100 accelerator nearly two years ago now, back in November 2020, and while the third-gen CDNA architecture is nearly here, the first-gen MI100 accelerator has hit eBay... in the nude.
The AMD Instinct MI100 accelerator is based on the CDNA architecture and made on TSMC's 7nm process node, with its GPU codenamed "Arcturus" packing 7680 FP32 cores and 32GB of HBM2 memory. The card has a 300W TDP, chewing down its power from dual 8-pin power connectors -- but not regular PCIe power connectors, but rather the EPS ones that go into your motherboard.
The card was posted on eBay in non-functional order, with a price of 500 EUR (about $500 USD or so) which is a rather huge price drop from its MSRP at the time of $6400. The card doesn't work, just to be sure you know that, so this would be a collector's item. But man, in the nude the AMD Instinct MI100 accelerator is a beautiful card under that cooler.
AMD is NOT using PCIe 5.0 '12VHPWR' connector on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs
AMD has confirmed that its next-gen Radeon RX 7000 series "RDNA 3" graphics card will NOT be using the new PCIe Gen5 "12VHPWR" power connector... which is something we kinda knew already, but now 100% confirmed from AMD themselves.
Scott Herkelman, General Manager for AMD Radeon (and ex-NVIDIA GeForce exec) confirmed on Twitter with Kyle "HardOCP" Bennett, where he said that the Radeon RX 6000 series and upcoming RDNA 3 GPUs will "not use this power connector".
Given that there are multiple reports of GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards MELTING, it makes sense that AMD won't use the power connector. We've known for a while now that AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series flagship GPU will be using 2 x 8-pin PCIe power connectors, but now we have official confirmation from AMD themselves.
Raijintek Morpheus 8069 VGA cooler, can cool the GeForce RTX 4090
Raijintek is about to unleash a new aftermarket cooler for AMD's entire stack of Radeon RX 6000 series "RDNA 2" GPUs as well as NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 "Ampere" and even the new GeForce RTX 40 "Ada Lovelace" series GPUs.
Introducing the Raijintek Morpheus 8069 VGA cooler, which has been leaked in product renders before its unveiling and launch on November 1. It's quite a beast, with an absolutely gigantic heat sink and 12 x 6mm heat pipes running through it. The coldplate will sit on top of the GPU and memory, but it won't cover the VRMs.
Raijintek includes 5 x copper and 4 x aluminum heat sink that will cool your PCB and other chips on your AMD Radeon RX 6000 series and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 + GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs.

AMD rumored to launch Radeon RX 7900 XTX with RX 7900 XT on November 3
AMD will be unveiling its next-gen RDNA 3 architecture and new Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards on November 3, but now we're hearing that there'll be a new flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX... note the extra "X" there.
The new Radeon RX 7900 XTX is meant to be the full new Navi 31-powered flagship GPU from AMD, rocking up to 24GB of GDDR6 memory with up to 12288 cores. AMD will also have the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which will have a slightly cut-down GPU core count as well as less memory, with 20GB of GDDR6 expected.
AMD will be outfitting the new flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards with its MCM-based Navi 31 GPU, which is expected to give NVIDIA's new Ada Lovelace GPU architecture and new GeForce RTX 4090, and soon-to-be-released GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics cards a run for their money.

Multiple GeForce RTX 4090 cards DEAD, melted 16-pin power connectors!
It looks like NVIDIA is going to be in for a pretty bad week leading into its competitors' RDNA 3-powered GPU family being announced on November 3, with GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards CATCHING FIRE and MELTING the 16-pin PCIe power connector.
Reddit users "reggie_gakil" and "NoDuelsPolicyy" posted pictures of their -- ugh, it's awful even typing this -- GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards that had melted 16-pin PCIe power connectors. First off, we have the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC graphics card, where both the 12VHPWR power cable and the 12VHPWR power connector on the card melted.
The custom ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition graphics card ended up in a far worse situation. Yeah, the PCIe power connector is melted, but man the damage is so much worse than what Reggie is dealing with on his GIGABYTE RTX 4090 GAMING OC graphics card.

Newegg ships GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090, owner gets WEIGHTS instead
I can't imagine plonking down thousands of dollars for the fastest graphics card money can buy -- NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4090 -- and not just NOT getting the card, but getting weights instead.
Newegg thinks that a gamer can lift, sending weights in the box in place of the custom GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC graphics card. Sure, the box is fine, but inside the box, Reddit user u/NuclearInnardsBeep received two weights in the box and not his expected GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.
Earlier this year, Amazon shipped out a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card, and instead of the Ampere-based GPU, the owner got SAND instead. I don't even know how I feel, but anger would definitely be an emotion. I guess the would-be GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 owner can now lift some weights to get some gym in, before the RTX 4090 (maybe) arrives.

NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card is now rocking along in desktop gaming PCs with some truly unbelievable power under its hood, and now we're getting some updates on the GeForce RTX 40 mobile GPUs.
The upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series mobile GPUs should offer some truly next-gen gaming laptop performance, where we're now hearing the "GN21-X11" GPU will be powering the GeForce RTX 4090 Mobile GPU. Under that, we've got the "GN21-X9" GPU powering the GeForce RTX 4080 Ti Mobile, and the "GN21-X6" GPU powering the GeForce RTX 4070 Mobile.
Under that, we'll get new mid-range gaming laptops with the "GN21-X4" GPU inside of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Mobile, while finally, the last one is the "GN21-X2" GPU powering GeForce RTX 4060 Mobile.

COLORFUL's iGame RTX 4090 Neptune: huge 630W max TGP, highest of all RTX 4090s
COLORFUL has one of the best air-cooled GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards that money can buy, with its custom iGame GeForce RTX 4090 Vulcan OC-V impressing me so much in my review... but, what about the liquid-cooled iGame RTX 4090 Neptune OC?
The new custom COLORFUL iGame GeForce RTX 4090 Neptune OC graphics card has the highest TGP of any GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards on the market, with the iGame RTX 4090 Neptune OC driving up to a huge 630W TGP. There are plenty of models that are under 500W, and a few over 500W... but this is the first to hit a huge 635W.
COLORFUL's new iGame GeForce RTX 4090 Neptune OC graphics card is similar to MSI's custom GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X, but COLORFUL has a bigger AIO cooler. MSI is using a 240mm AIO cooler on its RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X, whereas COLORFUL has a larger 360mm AIO cooler on its iGame RTX 4090 Neptune OC graphics card.
EVGA has no GeForce RTX 4090 to buy, but Precision X1 now supports the RTX 4090
EVGA might not have any high-end GeForce RTX 4090 or even any, like, any GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs at all... given that the company terminated its relationship with NVIDIA, but that hasn't stopped EVGA from continuing to improve its Precision X1 software.
The latest EVGA Precision X1 software was pushed out over the weekend, with v1.3.7.0 supporting NVIDIA's new AD102-based GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card. The software provides GPU and GDDR6X memory overclocking, overvoltage, as well as thermal and power limit adjustment.
EVGA's own Precision X1 overclocking software isn't the best software to push your GeForce RTX 4090, or any GeForce GPU, but if you want to use it, it's now available for your GeForce RTX 4090. MSI Afterburner is far better, and it also supports overclocking AMD Radeon RX series graphics cards, whereas EVGA's Precision X1 overclocking software only supports NVIDIA GeForce GPUs.
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT is NOT the top model, features 20GB GDDR6 memory
AMD will be detailing its upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series "RDNA 3" graphics cards in just over a weeks time, but now we're hearing more about the new Radeon RX 7900 XT... where it will feature 20GB of GDDR6 memory, but get this: it's not the flagship model.
The new information on AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card comes from Wccftech, which is reporting that the Navi 31-based Radeon RX 7900 XT "is reportedly not the flagship model". Inside, their sources tease that 20GB of memory will be included, running alongside the next-gen Navi 31 GPU with the 20GB GDDR6 memory spread out on a 320-bit memory bus.
We were expecting more VRAM on AMD's flagship Radeon RX 7000 series GPU, but Wccftech is reporting that the Radeon RX 7950 XT will feature the full 24GB of GDDR6 memory on the larger 384-bit memory bus.

AMD hypes up Radeon RX 7000 'RDNA 3' GPU livestream for November 3
AMD will be hosting a livestream for its next-gen GPU reveal on November 3, teasing its upcoming "together we advance_gaming" with an annoying underscore that I promise never to use again.
The company tweeted out to all gamers, creators, and enthusiasts that they should join AMD on November 3 at 4 PM ET where together they'll advance gaming. There will be AMD executives on-stage to give us all the details on the RDNA 3 GPU architecture and upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, with the new flagship Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card expected to be revealed.

NVIDIA's monster quad-slot 900W cooler for TITAN Ada teased, uhhhh WOW
We are certainly hearing a lot about a graphics card NVIDIA doesn't seem happy to talk about, with early rumors from quite a while ago now teasing a 900W power limit on a next-gen AD102-based GPU.
In the last week or so we've been hearing that NVIDIA monster TITAN Ada was cancelled, and that the graphics card featured insane dual 16-pin PCIe power connectors, melted motherboards, and sometimes, even melted itself. Barely 24 hours ago we heard more "confirmation" that NVIDIA had nixed the TITAN Ada GPU. Boo.
But now... not we have some photos from Chiphell of an insane quad-slot cooler that would've kept the monster graphics card cool. A post on Chiphell shows the quad-slot cooler that would keep up to 900W of power cooled, with a bunch of X-shaped frames sitting in a factory somewhere pictured.

Production had JUST begun on GeForce RTX 4080 12GB before the unlaunch
NVIDIA only unlaunched its GeForce RTX 4080 12GB graphics card last week, leaving the higher-end GeForce RTX 4080 16GB variant to dominate the higher-end side of the GPU market... but now we have some news on what happened behind the scenes with the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB cancellation.
In a new video, Moore's Law is Dead said his sources explained that NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4080 12GB was "just starting production at most" when the company relaunched it, with AIBs being "barely OK" said the source. The second source said that "almost none" made it to the US "besides maybe samples".
Another source explained that the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB configuration is "gone for the foreseeable future, if not forever" while the final source said that it's "highly unlikely" that the exact 7680 CUDA core version with 21Gbps GDDR6X and the AD104 GPU variant comes to gamers. The last source said that NVIDIA will "likely disable it slightly for the 4070, otherwise they'd be admitting it was always an RTX 4070".

NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card leaked in new photos
NVIDIA's upcoming mid-range GeForce RTX 4070 has been pictured for the first time ever, with leaker Moore's Law is Dead posting some photos of NVIDIA's in-house GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition graphics card.
The upcoming upper mid-range graphics card will have a similar cooler to NVIDIA's current Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition cooler, but its smaller, and better in many ways. The fans on the GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition graphics card are larger, just like the GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition and its bigger fans over the GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition, as well as airflow being more streamlined through the card.

NVIDIA's tweaked GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X is up to 7% faster
NVIDIA's upgraded GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card doesn't seem to be too far away, with upgraded GDDR6X memory that will provide a little boost in performance for the mid-range Ampere GPU.
The new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will reportedly rock upgraded GDDR6X memory at 19Gbps bandwidth, which is up from the regular GDDR6 (non-X) memory on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which is clocked at just 14Gbps bandwidth in comparison. It's a huge jump in memory bandwidth and should help out with performance in higher-resolution games and higher-end texture details in AAA titles.
NVIDIA is reportedly using the same GA104-202 GPU according to VideoCardz's sources, which said that the same GA104-202 GPU will be boosting up to 1665MHz (the same as the current RTX 3060 Ti).

3DMark NVIDIA DLSS test updated with DLSS 3 + DLSS Frame Generation
UL has just announced a new update for 3DMark and its new NVIDIA DLSS feature test, which adds both DLSS 3 and DLSS Frame Generation into the mix.
NVIDIA's new Ada Lovelace GPU architecture is the only one that supports DLSS 3 and DLSS Frame Generation, with the only graphics card on the market so far capable of this test being the new flagship GeForce RTX 4090. The newly updated 3DMark NVIDIA DLSS feature tests were developed in partnership with NVIDIA.
You can now run the NVIDIA DLSS feature test with DLSS 3, DLSS 2, or DLSS 1 -- with DLSS 3 packing DLSS Frame Generation -- while users can tweak image quality modes between Quality, Performance, and Ultra Performance. DLSS Frame Generation uses the Ada Lovelace GPU architecture and its super-performing AI to increase frame rates considerably, by generating additional high-quality frames, while optimizing responsiveness using NVIDIA Reflex technology.
