Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still Evo 2019's

| Jun 3, 2019 2:00 AM CDT

The biggest fighting game event on the planet is without a doubt the Evolution Championship Series, or better known as Evo. What fighting title will be the most popular at this years event? Super Smash Bros. Ultimate of course.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still Evo 2019's

There really is no surprise that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has taken first place on the registration scoreboard for this years EVO event, as the Smash series has been famously popular amongst fighting game fans/pro-players. The news comes from Joey Cuellar, the President of EVO 2019 who also released an April edition of the top 9 registered games for this years EVO.

The order of the rankings has changed as Tekken 7 has moved to third place, Street Fighter has moved to second, Under Night In Birth has dropped to fifth, Dragon Ball FighterZ has dropped to sixth, Samurai Shodown has dropped to seventh, Soul Calibur VI has dropped to eighth and Blazblue: Cross Tag Batt completes the list at number nine. Next month and the month after we should expect the same registration scoreboard post from the president, my bet is that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will continue to reign superior. The registration will be available for EVO 2019 up until July 14th, the actual event for EVO 2019 will be held on August 2nd until August 4th at the Mandalay Bay.

| Jun 1, 2019 9:25 PM CDT

The ratings board leaks were right on the money: the best Ghostbusters video game is getting remastered for current-gen consoles.

Ghostbusters Remastered coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC

Ghostbusters: The Video game, largely regarded as the true Ghostbusters 3 thanks to its all-star cast and stellar story, is getting reborn with enhanced visuals. The game features full voice acting and likenesses from the original crew: Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson all lend their talent.

The remaster is being made by World War Z developer Saber Interactive, and Mad Dog Studios is chipping in too. In a surprisingly weird twist of fate Ghostbusters will be exclusive to the Epic Store. The older version was delisted from Steam a while back. It's also arriving on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has cross-play on all platforms

| Jun 1, 2019 8:09 PM CDT

Infinity Ward's new grisly and grim Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot is breaking down the platform barriers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has cross-play on all platforms

Now that Sony finally relented, cross-play support will soon unify the biggest games on all platforms. Now Activision confirms its newly announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare re-imagining will let players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC play together via co-op and multiplayer modes.

"With the launch of Modern Warfare, the team is taking steps to unite the community. First, the team plans for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support," an Activision rep told PC Gamer.

Game Pass PC could get very messy

Microsoft confirms its successful and widely-copied Xbox Game Pass subscription is arriving soon on PC. But there could be a few problems that bar

Game Pass PC could get very messy

Xbox Game Pass is officially coming to PC, Microsoft revealed on a blog post. Game Pass on PC operates similarly as its console counterpart: it'll feature 100+ PC games that can be accessed for a set monthly price, but Microsoft says it's a "new experience".

Publishers seem a bit reticent to support Game Pass on PC, though. Microsoft only revealed a handful of well-known partners including Bethesda, Deep Silver and SEGA, but huge titans like Take-Two Interactive and Ubisoft are missing (Ubisoft has its own launcher and exclusivity deals with the Epic Games Store). The current PC Game Store Wars could ensure Game Pass' PC subscription misses out on some big games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sounds grim and haunting

| Jun 1, 2019 1:00 PM CDT

Infinity Ward's new Call of Duty is indeed Modern Warfare, and it's a reboot that sets a grim and dark tone for the franchise.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sounds grim and haunting

Activision is making good on its promise to bring Call of Duty is back to its roots. The newly announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brings back basic features like a solo singleplayer campaign that can be played entirely offline, as well as a new co-op mode and classic boots on the ground multiplayer. All modes will tie into a gripping narrative that spreads across the entire game--a narrative that's quite nerve-wracking.

"There's a fine line between right and wrong. And somewhere, in the shadows, they send us in to find it. We get dirty and the world stays clean. That's the mission," --John "Soap" MacTavish (yes, he's back).

New Darksiders Game to be revealed at E3 2019 panel

| May 31, 2019 2:00 AM CDT

E3 2019 is just around the corner and we are already hearing about what to expect announcement wise from the event. How about a new Darksiders game?

New Darksiders Game to be revealed at E3 2019 panel

The news has been scooped up from WCCFtech, as they have found on the E3 Coliseum 2019 website that there is plans for a new Darksiders game announcement. To go with the announcement the developers will also be introducing fans to the new direction they will be taking with the franchise, specifically calling it a "fresh direction".

It is unclear what the "fresh direction" will be for the new unannounced Darksiders game, but with any luck the developers will build upon the not-so-many criticisms surrounding Darksiders III and create a new Darksiders game that everyone can enjoy. The Darksiders: Action Adventure Evolved panel will be conducted on the third day of E3 at 10:30AM. Tune in for the live stream to find out more information. Death Stranding coming to PC seems like a bed time story

| May 31, 2019 1:00 AM CDT

Since we have recently acquired the release date for Death Stranding, new rumors have popped up surrounding the titles platform lock to Sony's PlayStation. Is it possible that we could see Death Stranding come to the PC after a certain amount of time?

Death Stranding coming to PC seems like a bed time story

Well, that is what the most recent rumor has suggested, at least in part. According to Antonio Fucito, Hideo Kojima has signed a "timed PS4 exclusive" deal, which means Death Stranding will only be exclusive to the PlayStation for a certain amount of time. After that time period has finished, Kojima is free to bring the game to whichever platform he desires. That is if there is actually a timed exclusivity contract been signed.

This is a rumor and seems to be pure speculation on Fuctio part, and it should be noted that there has been no official announcement from Kojima or Sony regarding a timed exclusivity contract. Fucito did call the release date for the game a full 24 hours before the new trailer dropped, but I don't think the legitimacy of the early release date call provides any solid evidence to suggest that there is a timed exclusivity contract in existence.

Total War: Three Kingdoms sells 1m units, best Total War yet

This week has been a blast for strategy game fans, with Total War: Three Kingdoms releasing early in the week and now Conan Unconquered, gamers might have to strategically split their time.

Total War: Three Kingdoms sells 1m units, best Total War yet

Creative Assembly's newest instalment into the Total War franchise has seem quite the impressive level of support from fans, some fans even calling it the best game in the franchise. According to Creative Assembly, the title has already managed to sell over 1 million copies and for a brief moment it actually reached the no.1 spot on Steam concurrent players count at 160,000 players.

Creative Assembly's chief product officer Rob Bartholomew has commented on the success of the title, saying "We're seeing a lot of 'best Total War ever' comments out there. We're very proud." Originally Creative Assembly planned on releasing Total War: Three Kingdoms back in March, but decided to delay the game to iron out its many bugs and apply better foundational structure to its localization. This decision seems to have paid off for the studio considerably with many reviews saying that this is the most polished Total War game yet.

Dauntless has 6 million slayers in its first week of launch

| May 30, 2019 3:00 AM CDT

Dauntless is the new hit game right now, and to prove that point the monster hunter-esc title has managed to pull in a staggering 6 million players within its first week.

Dauntless has 6 million slayers in its first week of launch

I have been covering the player count progression of Dauntless since the first day it released. The game initially launched into its beta phase and immediately gained 500,000 players in just one day. That number quickly increased and then was totalled across all platforms, reaching 5 million players.

Now, Phoenix Labs have released an end of week statistical report through an image on their Twitter. The image is basically all of the accolades the game achieved within its first week. Starting off we have the now 6 million slayers present, 20,000,000 hunts have been conducted, 13,000,000 behemoths have been slain, 2,000,000 slayers have been forced to retreat, 60% of parties are cross-play and 15,000,000 hours have already been played. If you are interested in joining the hunt, check out the official Dauntless listing on the Epic Games Store here.

New survival RTS Conan Unconquered debuts, can you survive?

| May 30, 2019 2:00 AM CDT

A new real-time-strategy game has hit the market and it is none other than Funcom and Petroglyph Games' high anticipated Conan Unconquered.

New survival RTS Conan Unconquered debuts, can you survive?

Conan Unconquered immerses players in a in a wave generated scenario that requires extreme micromanagement in terms of resources, unit positioning and overall city building. Gamers will be required to build a city and generate units to defend against the progressively more difficult waves of hyboria (enemies). Just like all RTS games, some units will do more damage to other units that they counter. Hint - Do not forget the same principal applies to fortifications and constructable defences.

Conan Unconquered can be played in singleplayer mode, co-op and online versus mode. Co-op mode will combine both of the players' resources into one uniform resource stack, meaning players will share resources and also building options. Enemies will (as expected) be much stronger in co-op play, this will mean players will have to strategize together to ensure their survival. Conan Unconquered in currently available on Steam, for more information visit the official Steam listing here.

Pokemon Sleep wants to turn sleep into entertainment

| May 29, 2019 11:01 AM CDT

Yesterday The Pokemon Company announced a rather strange new "game" centered around monitoring people's sleeping habits. It's called Pokemon Sleep, and it sounds very weird.

Pokemon Sleep wants to turn sleep into entertainment

Pokemon Sleep is a real thing. The game is centered around one singular albeit creepy concept: to turn sleeping into a new kind of entertainment experience. Pokemon Sleep, which is being developed by Magikarp Jump! developer Select Button, will reward gamers for good sleep habits. Nintendo has developed a special sleep-tracking peripheral called the Pokemon Go Plus + that connects to your smartphone and "extracts simple information for how long you sleep."

"The concept of this game is to have players look forward to waking up every morning. It uses information from the time they've spent sleeping and the time they wake up for a new kind of entertainment," Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara said during the stream.

Death Stranding coming in 2019, The Last of Us 2 in 2020

| May 29, 2019 9:37 AM CDT

Sony might've pulled a switcheroo on our expectations: Death Stranding could launch in 2019 and The Last of Us Part II could be delayed.

Death Stranding coming in 2019, The Last of Us 2 in 2020

Kojima Productions is set to reveal new Death Stranding info today in a new livestream, and Sony even broke out pre-order bonuses that strongly hint at a release date reveal. But the official Taiwanese PlayStation account might've spilled the beans early. In a now-deleted post, the overseas account says Death Stranding will release worldwide on November 8, 2019.

The Last of Us Part II, Sony's other big marquee console exclusive, may miss 2019 in favor of an early 2020 launch. Sources close to Sony tell Kotaku's Jason Schreier that Naughty Dog's sequel will launch in February 2020. This is an interesting move. Sony confirmed that software sales would be low this fiscal year due to a lower number of exclusives than last year, but the timings for both games fit in the company's FY2019 timeline.

You cannot queue online with friends in Super Mario Maker 2

| May 29, 2019 4:00 AM CDT

Some not-so-welcomed news has surfaced regarding Super Mario Maker 2, as official confirmations have revealed that online friends will not be able to queue together. Yes, that is right, friends will not be able to play with each other online.

You cannot queue online with friends in Super Mario Maker 2

The news has come out from Nintendo World Report who have said that according to a Nintendo Treehouse representative, Super Mario Maker will only allow players to queue with random players online. The representative went on to explain that this will even be the case when players are seeking co-op or competitive play.

This will mean that the only way to play co-op or multiplayer with friends is through local, or wireless local play. According to Nintendo World Report, the reasoning behind this decision was "with global leaderboards, the matchmaking for competitive play would be compromised if you could play with friends. That limitation also extends to co-op play as well despite those not being leaderboard driven."
