Infinity Ward's new grisly and grim Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot is breaking down the platform barriers.
Now that Sony finally relented, cross-play support will soon unify the biggest games on all platforms. Now Activision confirms its newly announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare re-imagining will let players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC play together via co-op and multiplayer modes.
"With the launch of Modern Warfare, the team is taking steps to unite the community. First, the team plans for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support," an Activision rep told PC Gamer.
Although Call of Duty: Modern Warfare features a fully-fledged campaign that's missing in Black Ops 4, the game won't be all that different from its predecessor when it comes to online monetization. 2019's Call of Duty will have premium COD Points microtransaction currency along with a narrative-driven co-op mode that more or less replaces zombies.
Infinity Ward confirms Modern Warfare won't have a season pass, strongly indicating an expansive roadmap of engagement-driven live service content is planned.
"Also, the team is eliminating the traditional season pass, so that they can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players."
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
