Switch 2 sold 1.6 million in US at launch, fastest-selling console in United States history
Nintendo's new Switch 2 console is a big hit in the US, where it became the fastest-selling system of all time, beating out consoles like the PlayStation 4 at launch.
The Switch 2 has sold 1.6 million units in the US during the launch month of June, making it the fastest-selling video games hardware in United States history. The news comes from Circana executive director Mat Piscatella in a lengthy post on the US games market's performance throughout June 2025.
"Nintendo Switch 2 debuted as the fastest-selling video game hardware device in US history, while consumer spending in both video game hardware and accessories reached new all-time June records," Piscatella said in an analysis post on Bluesky.
Borderlands 4 will release on the Switch 2 at 30FPS 'with some dips,' says Gearbox CEO
Borderlands 4 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3, and according to Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford, who announced the news via a video on his personal X account, there will be a download with the physical copy.
Pitchford has seemingly confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be arriving in the form of a Game Key Card over the full title arriving on a physical cartridge, which isn't unusual at all as Borderlands 4 is a "big game" and other publishers such as Square Enix and Capcom have decided to take this route as well for their titles. Why? Well, it's simply cheaper for the publisher as they don't have to pay for a large physical cartridge.
As for performance, Pitchford said in a reply to a user asking if it will run at 60FPS that Gearbox didn't want to cut anything from the game and wanted to support cross-play with other platforms. So the decision was made to target 30FPS, with Pitchford adding there will be "some dips in some intense moments, heavy combats, or if hosting a multiplayer game in handheld mode, etc.." Notably, Borderlands 3 on the original Nintendo Switch averaged around 45FPS during typical gameplay.
Fortnite won't return to iOS in UK in 2025, or even mid-2026
Fortnite will not return to iOS in the UK through 2025, or the first half of 2026, new regulatory filings indicate.
Today, the UK regulators at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published roadmaps for their investigations into Google's and Apple's mobile stores. This roadmap does not include forcing Apple to break open the App Store and allow alternative third-party competing storefronts on the platform; Epic Games wants to bring the Epic Games Store to iOS and be allowed to sell its games without having to pay extra fees, but that plan has been temporarily stymied.
The CMA has chosen to prioritize other areas of focus, much to Epic's ire. "We can't bring the Epic Games Store to iOS in the UK this year (if ever), and Fortnite's return to iOS in the UK is now uncertain. The UK competition regulator is choosing not to prioritize opening the mobile ecosystem to alternative app stores this year," Epic wrote in a blog post.

Battlefield 6 campaign teaser releases, shows NATO is breaking at the seams
Ahead of the official unveiling of the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer, EA has taken to the Battlefield social media accounts to share a short teaser of the campaign.
The effort to build hype for the official unveiling of Battlefield 6 is certainly underway as it is now less than 24 hours until the full trailer drops. At the time of writing, there are thousands of people patiently waiting in the Battlefield 6 Official Reveal Trailer YouTube video chat, all of whom are discussing the possibilities for what the game is going to offer.
To kick things up a notch, a short teaser trailer for the title's campaign has been released, and it begins with several news reporters discussing the movements of "Pax Armata" and how they are rising to contest NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).
Ubisoft teases Assassin's Creed Shadows launching on the Nintendo Switch 2
Assassin's Creed Shadows launched in March, and while the game was encompassed in controversy, Ubisoft deemed it a success in its recent financial report, with the title acquiring as many as 5 million players. But now Ubisoft is looking to get even more players into the latest AC title, with the Ubisoft CEO saying the game will be arriving on "other machines".
Unless Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot is talking about the game releasing on a refrigerator with a display, it seems the only viable option left for a new platform release would be the Nintendo Switch 2. Notably, the Ubisoft CEO teased the release of Shadows coming to "other machines" during a financial briefing call where he also confirmed the release window for the first expansion to come to Shadows, Claws of Awaji. Guillemot was asked directly about the launch of Shadows on Nintendo's latest console, and he said that Ubisoft hasn't said what titles it's bringing to the Nintendo Switch.
However, that isn't all the pieces of the not-so-confusing puzzle. Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet said during the same call that Ubisoft's line-up for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2026, includes "a couple of other titles" that will be "announced at a later stage." Adding, "And we also have a game that will be launched on the Switch 2." But he didn't name the title. Notably, Star Wars: Outlaws was already announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, and Duguet was speaking about games "beyond the announced releases," which suggests there is another title in the works for a Switch 2 release.
Battlefield 6 will be more expensive on consoles than on PC, release date leaks
A new report has claimed the release date for the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 will be on October 10 and it will be releasing on consoles for 80 Euros, which converts to $70 USD.
The release date and price are from well-known industry leaker billbil-kun, who has leaked information about unreleased titles in the past and been very spot on. Bilbil-kun is renowned as quite reliable when it comes to leaks, having a great track record. Be that as it may, this is still a leak, so take the information with a healthy amount of skepticism.
Additionally, it's possible we won't have to wait long for the official release date or even price of Battlefield 6 as EA will be dropping the reveal trailer on July 24, which at the time of writing is only 23 hours away.
Xbox lowers price of Outer Worlds 2 to $70, issues refunds
How often does this ever happen: A video games publisher lowers the price of a game? That's what happened today as Microsoft has chosen to lower the price of The Outer Worlds 2 to better reflect "current market conditions."
The Outer Worlds 2 is no longer the first $80 Xbox game. Microsoft today made a surprise announcement: The Outer Worlds 2 no longer costs $80, and will now instead be $10 cheaper. The new price of Obsidian's upcoming RPG is now $70, which is in line with the new baseline MSRP introduced at the beginning of the PS5/Xbox Series generation. Gamers who pre-ordered The Outer Worlds 2 can receive a refund and repurchase at a cheaper price.
"We're focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99 - in line with current market conditions," a Microsoft rep tells Windows Central.

Scientists prove WiFi signals can be used to track you from location to location
There are many ways to track a human, but researchers in Italy have devised a new method that involves creating a biometric marker for people based on how their body distorts WiFi signals.
The researchers are calling this new method of tracking "WhoFi," and detailed how it works in a paper that has yet to be published. The paper titled "WhoFi: Deep Person Re-Identification via WiFi Channel Signal Encoding" explains that re-identification is the primary goal of the new technology, which doesn't necessarily mean a person's identity, such as their name, but just that they are the same individual seen in one location and then in another.
The idea is that WhoFi could be used in video surveillance to maintain constant tracking of a subject without having to use any obvious identifiers such as items of clothing, features, etc.
NVIDIA CEO met with Samsung in 2018 to propose jointly-developed HBM, foundry switch from TSMC
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang reportedly secretly met with Samsung Electronics back in 2018 to discuss co-development of HBM, a possible switch from TSMC to Samsung Foundry, and to work together closely on CUDA.
According to a semiconductor industry source, CEO Jensen Huang secretly visited Samsung Electronics in 2018 and made three proposals. The first was to expand the HBM development that Samsung and NVIDIA were jointly pursuing to a higher level. The second was to jointly develop foundry technology beyond 8nm. The third involved jointly fostering NVIDIA's software ecosystem, CUDA.
The source, who requested anonymity, stated: "at the time, Samsung rejected all three of CEO Jensen Huang's proposals". They added that "CEO Jensen Huang lamented, 'There is no one at Samsung to discuss long-term strategy with me'". At the time, Jensen wasn't able to meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong. Samsung as a whole was significantly subdued due to the prosecution's investigation and trial against Chairman Lee, which had fully commenced in 2027, and that it's understood long-term decision-making "wasn't smooth".

Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 7 display survives 500,000+ folds: 100+ folds per day for 10 years
Samsung Display has announced that its new foldable OLED panel inside of its new Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldable smartphone remained fully functional after a huge 500,000-fold durability test, with it capable of handling over 100 folds per day for over 10 years.

It seems that Endgame Gear has been offering a configuration utility for one of its gaming mice which was infected by malware - though the corrupted tool has since been taken down and replaced with a clean executable.
This issue was first reported on Reddit (see the above post), as Igor's Lab highlighted (via PC Gamer), with the compromised tool - for the OP1w 4K V2 mouse - being located on the official Endgame Gear CDN (and not a third-party mirror).
The Redditor who first stumbled on the malware (Admirable-Raccoon597) observed that after installing the app, they noticed suspicious behavior, and following further analysis, they confirmed a malware infection.
Ubisoft confirms release window for Assassin's Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC
Ubisoft has confirmed in a recent financial report the release window for the Assassin's Creed Shadows expansion titled Claws of Awaji.
It was reported in early June that Ubisoft was targeting a September release for Claws of Awaji, with the company moving the date from October back to September to give gamers some breathing room from release of the Ghost of Tsushima spiritual successor, Ghost of Yotei, which is scheduled to release in October.
For those who don't know, Claws of Awaji will include approximately 10 hours of additional gameplay, a new region to explore, new weapons, side activities, gear, and new skills. The premise of the DLC is that players will be "hunted" and have the opportunity to reclaim lost treasure while mastering a new weapon type called the Bō staff. As for when the DLC will be released, Ubisoft wrote in its report that it's planning on debuting the expansion sometime in Q2, which is by the end of September 2025.
Ubisoft refuses to take accountability for past failures, instead blames gamers
In Ubisoft's latest financial report, the company has blamed Steam, internet trends, and gamers as a whole for the failure of Star Wars: Outlaws.
The comments from Ubisoft come after the company revealed that it actually believes it is adding microtransactions into its games, making those games more fun for players. In what appears to be another completely checked out statement from the company that has been experiencing a tumbling stock price and recent parachute cash injection from Tencent to support its new company managing its top IPs, Ubisoft is now refusing to take any accountability for the quality of its product and instead, blames gamers for the failure of Star Wars: Outlaws.
Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot blamed the failure of Outlaws on the lack of popularity of Star Wars at the time of release, saying, "Outlaws was released at a time when the brand that it belonged to was in a bit of choppy waters." Guillemot must not have heard about the massive success of the hit Star Wars TV shows The Mandalorian, Andor, or Tales of the Empire.
