New Ghost of Yotei trailer reveals why samurai protagonist Atsu seeks bloody revenge
The developers at Sucker Punch showcase Atsu's unyielding quest for bloody revenge in Ghost of Yotei's latest trailer footage.
Like its predecessor, Ghost of Yotei's story is soaked in bloody vengeance. Players take on the role of Atsu, a swordsmith's daughter who met a cruel murderous fate from a gang of outlaws. Imbued by spiritual energy, Atsu now wields her fearsome ruthlessness alongside her lethal samurai blades, cutting down foes with brutal precision.
"Journey with Atsu in this unique story of healing and redemption that runs deeper than vengeance. Traverse the vast lands of Ezo, master new weapons, and forge alliances to avenge the death of her family at the hands of the Yōtei Six," reads a new description published by Sony.
Indiana Jones DLC 'The Order of Giants' confirmed in new trailer, releases on Switch 2
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is officially getting its first DLC, and the full game will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch.
The news was confirmed at Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live, where Indiana Jones and the Great Circle took center stage in a new trailer. The upcoming DLC is titled "The Order of the Giants," and developers Machine Games provided some gameplay footage in the above trailer. Notably, story expansion will be available for free to owners of the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Premium Edition, Collector's Edition, and Collector's Bundle, but can also be purchased separately for those who grabbed the standard edition.
As for what the DLC entails, "The Order of the Giants" takes Indy to the depths of Rome, where he is chasing down a myth of a beast. Indy encounters Father Ricci, a young priest desperate to track down a Roman artifact, and as you can probably expect, this standard treasure hunt quickly turns into a perilous journey as Indy runs into sinister plots, a cult, gladiator games, and much more. The upcoming DLC is slated to include new puzzles, new enemies, and returning characters.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight goes open-world with Arkham-style combat
One of the highlights of the Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live was the newly announced LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
LEGO Batman will throw players into a fully open-world Gotham City, where Batman fans can enjoy everything from throwing batarangs at criminals to driving around in the Batmobile at high speeds, collecting coins. The upcoming title is being developed by TT Games, which is the studio behind LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and will be arriving on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to the classic Batman goodness, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will feature many references from iconic Batman movies and comic books. The trailer showcases many aspects of the title, including the villains players will be up against and the combat they will be able to enjoy. Judging from what the trailer showcases, the combat appears to be heavily inspired by the Batman Arkham games, which is a good thing to see, as the combat in those titles was arguably the best part of the games.
Capcom will use new Street Fighter movie to strategically boost game sales
The Devil May Cry TV show helped sell nearly 2 million copies of Devil May Cry 5. Now Capcom wants to do the same thing with the new Street Fighter movie
Capcom has found another lever to successfully supercharge game sales: Transmedia content. How Capcom leveraged the latest Devil May Cry TV show on Netflix is a prime example of the company's business strategy. The idea is simple: Plan out a TV show or a movie around a franchise, and then be ready to meet new fans with games, events, and promos. Capcom has a wealth of catalog IP (they have a ton of game franchises and software that's already out) that can be tapped for this purpose.
The upcoming live action Street Fighter movie in 2026 offers another big opportunity to spike game sales. In a recent Q&A with investors, Capcom said that it fully intends to pull off a similar plan with the Street Fighter film. Expect to see steep discounts and new in-game content drops in both Street Fighter 6 and the entire multi-decade series as a whole.

Additionally, Kutsuna is slated to direct the anime at animation studio Qzil.la, alongside Deputy Director Shunsuke Fukui, Kaito Moki as Chief Animation Director, and Takashi Mukoda as Action Animation Director.

Lords of the Fallen 2 confirmed in new trailer, wishlist available now
Gamescom 2025 has wrapped up its main announcements and the Lords of the Fallen franchise has confirmed a continuation of the series with Lords of the Fallen 2.
The sequel to the first game in the franchise was announced at Gamescom on Tuesday by developer Hexworks, with the trailer showcasing an epic cinematic to the upcoming Soulslike title expected to launch sometime in 2026. Notably, Lords of the Fallen 2 is a standalone sequel to 2023's Lords of the Fallen, which has the same name as the 2014 action RPG from Deck13. Lords of the Fallen differentiates itself from other Soulslike titles with an unforgiving world tied to the progression of the player.
Lords of the Fallen 2 is set 100 years after the events of the first game, and as for the first game, it was soft rebooted in April 2025 with patch 2.0 that added shared progression during cross-play co-op and a free friend's pass to play co-op. Additionally, the update included recalibrated gameplay, and numerous other changes that made the game feel fresh.

Obsidian reveals The Outer Worlds 2's six companion allies, including tinker time mage Marisol
Obsidian reveals the six teammates that players can join alongside in battle in The Outer Worlds 2,
No Obsidian RPG is complete with an ensemble cast of companions, and their next game, The Outer Worlds 2, will have six different squadmates to choose from. Unfortunately, you can't actually romance them--this isn't Mass Effect.
There's Niles, a pistol-toting gunslinger who either can go invisible or has some sort of overshield effect; Valerie, a flying gun-drone robot that can heal allies; Aza, a rogue with a brutal wrist cannon; Inez, an Auntie's Choice agent with a havoc-inducing corrupted left arm; Marisol, an Order of the Ascendant tinkerer who uses time magic to slow enemies; and the pompous, yet barbaric hammer-wielding Tristan.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 campaign confirmed 4-player co-op, and replayable PVE end game
Gamescom 2025 Opening Night has wrapped up, and we got a look at what players can expect out of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was showcased at Gamescom 2025, and accompanying the "Gameplay Reveal Trailer," which was hardly a "gameplay" trailer as it only contained two seconds of actual gameplay, a Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 "Direct" video that features the developers of the upcoming title explaining how Black Ops 7 differentiates itself from previous installments in the franchise. A big change up with Black Ops 7 is the Campaign, which players can enjoy either solo or with a squad of four players. Yes, the co-op is Campaign, and will have an ending unlike any other Call of Duty campaign.
The Campaign will take players through covert operations and infiltrations, along with deployments that take place in both reality and on the edge of consciousness. A main theme of Black Ops 7 is "mind-bending" and "madness," which players will need to embrace when stepping into the Campaign, as the JSOC team, the characters players will be stepping into the shoes of, are seemingly stuck in a mindscape. Additionally, players will be introduced to Avalon, an expansive city whose secrets are threaded across the entire Campaign.
New Resident Evil 9 Requiem footage shows seamless transition between cutscenes and gameplay
Capcom has revealed impressive new gameplay for Resident Evil 9 at Gamescom, showing off some new upgrades to the RE Engine in the process.
Resident Evil 9's gameplay debut highlighted some interesting new mechanics of the game, potentially even some sort of anxiety attack feature where protagonist Grace Ashcroft can potentially lose consciousness. Grace also visibly shakes when holding her flashlight.
One of the most eye-catching parts of the trailer was how seamlessly the game transitioned between in-engine cutscenes and actual gameplay sequences. One moment, Alyssa is pulling Grace through a door in a cinematic, and in the next frame you're taking control of Grace in first-person and playing the game. The flow between the two was very fluid and felt natural.
PEAK confirmed to have sold more than 10 million copies
PEAK, a co-op climbing game created by Aggro Crab and Landfall, quickly ascended to the top of Steam's most-played games charts after its release, and now it has been confirmed that the title has sold over 10 million copies.
The humorous co-op climbing game sold two million copies in just nine days after it launched, and now Geoff Keighley, the host of The Game Awards and Gamescom 2025, has announced the title has sold more than 10 million units, marking a monumental success for the studios. PEAK was originally conceived in a hot tub and later developed in an Airbnb, explained the developers in an email shortly after the title was released and gained a lot of attention.
PEAK was released on June 16 and reached a stunning 170,759 all-time concurrent players just three days ago, on August 17. For those who are unfamiliar with PEAK, players assume the roles of stranded nature scouts who must make their way up a perilous mountain to escape a mysterious island.

Ghost of Yotei gets co-op Legends mode, offers 2-4 player online missions and survival
Sony and Sucker Punch are keeping the multiplayer tradition alive with Ghost of Yotei, which will also feature the online-based Legends mode in a post-launch update.
Today PlayStation confirmed that similar to its forebear, Ghost of Yotei will likewise be getting the Legends multiplayer game type. This optional mode allows gamers to team up with up to four players across two modes: 2-player co-op missions and 4-player gauntlets of survival.
It's also included free with all purchases, however it's unclear whether or not there will be some changes with Ghost of Yotei's Legends mode in regards to monetization. The execution of Sony's live service roadmap has not gone according to plan; despite the multi-million best-selling success of Helldivers 2, the disastrous drag of Concord's failure has affected Sony's outlook, roadmap, and immediate plans. This has also affected first-party games like Marathon, which could be delayed outside of Sony's FY25 timeline.
Wave goodbye to budget B650 motherboards as AMD's rumored to have finally canned the chipset
AMD B650 (AM5) motherboards are on their way out, with the chipset no longer being produced according to fresh chatter from the grapevine.
This is from Channel Gate (in China), so add a fair sprinkle of seasoning, but to be fair, the move was expected - and indeed was rumored earlier this year.
Wccftech spotted the report which claims that AMD has told motherboard makers that it's no longer making B650 chipsets and that they should switch over to using newer tech (namely B850).
Report: Starfield coming to Switch 2 in 2026, will also launch on PS5
Starfield is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026, sources have told insider Nate the Hate.
Today at Gamescom 2025, Microsoft announced that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. This was a pretty big surprise given the game's complexity, but the Switch 2's internal DLSS 3.1 wizardry might do some heavy lifting.
New reports say that Bethesda also plans to bring another highly-billed AAA game to the Switch 2: their 2023 sci-fi RPG Starfield. The news comes from Nate The Hate, who says that Starfield will drop on the Switch 2 in 2026. The space sim is still planned to land on PlayStation 5, too. Neither Bethesda nor Xbox have officially confirmed or announced anything regarding a Starfield multi-platform release.

Sony confirms PS5 price increases, base model now $549, PS5 Pro astronomical $750
It's officially happening: Sony is raising the price of all PS5 console hardware in the United States.
After months of holding off, Sony has finally caved and will increase the price tag on all PS5 consoles moving forward. The new pricing has tacked on another $50 to all models, with the PS5 Pro now costing an astronomical $750, which is in the realm of the dreaded 3DO console from the 1990s. Tariffs are believed to be the direct cause for the price hike.
The price change goes into effect tomorrow as Sony offers hardly any advance notice of the change. Soon consumers may even forget that the PS5 launched at $399 for the digital-only console, and at $499 for the disc-based system. Interestingly enough, Sony just announced that it had completed its plan to move hardware production out of China, at least for PS5s sold in the United States.
ASUS ROG Xbox Ally arrives October 16 complete with Valve-like Handheld Compatibility scheme
Microsoft has revealed that the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally (and Ally X) will be on shelves across the globe on October 16 - though we still don't have an official price.
A few more details were revealed about the gaming portable, though, the most noteworthy of which is that it'll come with an equivalent to Valve's Steam Deck Verified list of games.
It's called the Handheld Compatibility Program and Microsoft shared a quick trailer for the scheme on YouTube that you can see above.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 'gameplay' trailer only has 2 seconds of actual gameplay
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been officially unveiled at Gamescom 2025, with the next installment in the long-running franchise taking center stage with a new "gameplay" trailer and story explanation.
The "Gameplay Reveal" trailer was posted to the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, and it's surprising that the trailer can even feature the word "gameplay" in the title as there is less than two seconds of actual gameplay footage featured within the trailer. The rest of the content is cinematics. The trailer hasn't been received very well by the Call of Duty community, as at the time of writing, it has received 29,000 Likes and 105,000 Dislikes on YouTube. Not a great ratio for a title that is releasing in just a few months.
Miles Leslie, Associate Creative Director at Treyarch, took to the stage at Gamescom to touch on the story of Black Ops 7, saying the game is set in the not-so-distant future of 2035, but it's twisted. Treyarch and Raven are really embracing descriptive words such as "mind-bending" and "madness" for Black Ops 7, and this time around, the campaign can be enjoyed with your friends as it's confirmed to have co-op multiplayer. Once the linear part of the campaign is completed, players will graduate into "Endgame Unleashed".
