So, GAINWARD just made its GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080 Phoenix official
First we had the leaks, but then there was the confirmation -- when GAINWARD unleashes its websites for the custom GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 Phoenix graphics cards.
GAINWARD will have the GeForce RTX 3090 Phoenix, which is joined by a higher-clocked "Golden Sample" (GS) model. The same applies for the GeForce RTX 3080 Phoenix, which also is joined by a GS variant that has slightly higher GA102 GPU clocks.
The websites have all been pulled, but not before the fine folks at VideoCardz were able to grab them.

Hey there, ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 ROG STRIX -- lookin' good there
The last few days have been absolutely hectic when it comes to news on NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards -- and now we have another look at the ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3090.
VideoCardz has the scoop on the new ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 ROG STRIX which sports a triple-fan cooler, and what appears to be a 2.5-slot (at least) card. It's big and chunky (and long) but if we're looking at 40-50% performance uplifts over the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti -- it'll be worth it.
We did have our first look at the flagship ROG STRIX graphics card from ASUS back in July, when it was being reported that the flagship card would be the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti ROG STRIX -- but things have changed, there is no GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and now we have ultra-insane GeForce RTX 3090 ROG STRIX.

NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070: 7nm node, not 8nm
It has been an absolutely insane 24 hours for leaks on NVIDIA's next-gen Ampere-based GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards -- so much so that I can't even keep up and I'm glued to my desk nearly 18 hours a day.
Well, thankfully it pays off sometimes like seeing VideoCardz posting GAINWARD's leaked GeForce RTX 30 series Phoenix-branded graphics cards. In the specifications you can see above, it lists that the process node is 7nm -- not the 8nm that we've been hearing for a couple of months now.
This is an interesting note, and something that might just seem like a number -- but a simple change from 8nm to 7nm can mean the world. It opens up various questions that need to be answered: were the 8nm rumors ever true, or has NVIDIA used Samsung's 7nm for its first wave of cards?

These are the GAINWARD GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080 Phoenix cards
GAINWARD's new GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 Phoenix branded graphics cards have been leaked.
We now have some details specs and photos of GAINWARD's new Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards thanks to VideoCardz -- with pictures of the cards, and some specs that confirm some of the missing things we need to know about NVIDIA's upcoming cards.
First off, GAINWARD's new GeForce RTX 3090 has a confirmed 5248 CUDA cores, and 24GB of ultra-fast GDDR6X at 19.5Gbps -- leading me to believe maybe NVIDIA's own GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition maybe has the 24GB of GDDR6X clocked at 21Gbps -- and maybe it will use much more power driving this (and possibly a higher-clocked GPU) with its new 12-pin PCIe power connector.

Microsoft confirms 'AMD's upcoming RDNA 2' GPUs will support new DX12
Microsoft has just announced its latest DirectX 12 feature level 12_2 specification, adding a bunch of new API-level features to DirectX 12 feature level 12_1.
This is separate to DirectX 12 Ultimate, with Microsoft explaining DirectX 12 Ultimate was stamped on its own and its logo requirement is important enough that it gets bundled into a new feature level. DirectX 12 Ultimate isn't feature level 12_1, rather DirectX 12 Ultimate means you have DirectX Raytracing, Mesh Shaders, Sampler Feedback, and Variable Rate Shading.
All of these features together, and a few new features, make up DirectX 12 feature level 12_2 which will include DXR 1.1, Shader Model 6.5, Variable Rate Shading tier-2, Resource Binding tier-3, Tiled Resources tier-3, Conservative Rasterization tier-3, Root Signature tier-1.1, WriteBufferImmediateSupportFlags, GPU Virtual Address Bits resource expansion, among several other Direct3D raster rendering features.

ZOTAC is preparing 8 new GeForce RTX 30 series cards so far
ZOTAC will be launching at least 8 variants of custom GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards, with VideoCardz providing a nice list of cards to expect:
The flagship ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3090 AMP Extreme should have its GPU and GDDR6X clocks pushed to the maximum, while the RTX 3090 Trinity HoLo and ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity will be some new family members of the higher-end RTX 3090 SKU cards.
ZOTAC is going with a chunky triple-slot, triple-fan design on the RTX 30 series Trinity HoLo cards -- with a new NVLink finger -- we did think it wasn't included there for a moment, with dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors to power up that Ampere GPU and GDDR6X memory.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 specs: here's what we know so far
We are days away from NVIDIA's big next-gen GeForce RTX reveal on September 1, and with some specs of the new cards being detailed by VideoCardz on the GeForce RTX 3090 -- it's time for the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070.
NVIDIA will be cramming 4352 CUDA cores into the GeForce RTX 3090, with 24GB of GDDR6X memory -- but the GeForce RTX 3080 will instead pack 4352 CUDA cores and 10GB of GDDR6X memory @ 19Gbps on a 320-bit memory bus, giving it 760GB/sec of memory bandwidth.
The GeForce RTX 3080 will require dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors and have TGP of 320W, while the GeForce RTX 3070 has 8GB of GDDR6 (non-X) memory at 16Gbps with a TGP of 220W, reports VideoCardz.

Say hello to ZOTAC's new, unannounced GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity graphics card.
VideoCardz has the scoop on the latest leak of ZOTAC's new GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity, which is a gigantic, chunky triple-fan, triple-slot beast. It looks pretty damn long, features dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors -- remember, the nifty new 12-pin PCIe power connector is exclusive to NVIDIA's own Ampere-based GeForce RTX 30 series Founders Edition cards.
In some shots the GeForce RTX 3090 doesn't have NVLink fingers -- you can read more on that here, but in these product shots the beasty new GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity does indeed have NVLink.

No, NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3090 doesn't support SLI (damn it)
Update: It seems the GeForce RTX 3090 might have NVLink after all, so my first true love of multi-GPU goodness might not be disappearing from the RTX 3090 after all. Expect 8K testing out of the box then if that's the case, peeps.
We have everything but benchmark results at this point, with ZOTAC's new GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity graphcis card spotted by VideoCardz... without NVLink.
As a huge multi-GPU enthusiast this is beyond saddening to see, that NVIDIA has effectively dropped multi-GPU from its consumer GeForce graphics cards. I get it, because multi-GPU sucks in today's games but it would've been nice to seen it there and done differently this time -- I guess not.

Here are some leaked specs on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090
Can you feel it? We're getting closer and closer... and now we have some leaked specifications on NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 30 series graphics card.
First, let's dive right into where the most fun is: the flagship GeForce RTX 3090. NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3090 will feature the Ampere-based GA102-300 GPU with 5348 CUDA cores and a huge 24GB of ultra-fast GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit memory bus.
NVIDIA will have a huge 936GB/sec of memory bandwidth available on its GeForce RTX 3090, with custom AIB models requiring dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors, while NVIDIA's in-house GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics card rocks that special new 12-pin PCIe power connector.

Palit ready to unleash 171 (!!!) different GeForce RTX 30 series cards
Palit has just registered 171 different products through the Eurasian Economic Commission, so while we might not see the company deploy 171 different cards -- it means that the company is preparing a lot of new cards.
We will see Palit deploy particular SKUs in different countries, so we might see 10 different GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 graphics cards in a certain country, but different SKUs in another country. The list teases NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3090, GeForce RTX 3080, GeForce RTX 3070, and GeForce RTX 3060.
VideoCardz notes that this is the first time we've seen the GeForce RTX 3060 mentioned, which could be an exciting card priced at $399.

This is an even better look at NVIDIA's new 12-pin power connector
We have another picture of NVIDIA's new 12-pin PCIe power connector, something that I wrote will be exclusive to their own GeForce RTX 30 series Founders Edition cards according to my sources. The custom cards will feature 2-3 x 8-pin PCIe power connectors instead.
But now we have a trio of new images from Korean tech publication QuasarZone, which shows off the new Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 12-pin connector. The new 12-pin connector has smaller pins than the normal 8-pin PCIe power connectors, is slightly longer -- but much thinner, and there's only one of them versus 2-3 x required on other graphics cards.
The smaller 12-pin PCIe power connector will offer significantly more power than a traditional 8-pin PCIe power connector, which is what should make it special. We will know all about it during the September 1 reveal event for NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards.

TSMC teases 2023 tech: 12-stack next-gen HBM on next-gen GPUs
TSMC has revealed some exciting stuff during its 2020 Technology Symposium, teasing its projections of its new CoWoS-S packaging technology.
This has allowed designers to come in and make gigantic, super-fast designs with bigger and bigger logic dies and layered stacks of HBM memory. One of the restrictions in pushing things even higher, and even crazier, is the interpose size limitation.
TSMC has said that it expects to have 4x reticle size in 2023 -- something that will enable 12 HBM stacks. Micron will have its HBMnext memory available in late 2022, which should super-power some next-gen GPUs and HPC systems with some truly mind-blowing memory bandwidth.

JPR: NVIDIA has 80% of GPU market, takes more from AMD before Big Navi
We are days out from NVIDIA's huge GeForce RTX 30 reveal event on September 1, with Jon Peddie Research detailing the latest GPU vendor market share, and discrete GPU market share numbers.
As you can see from JPR's new data, NVIDIA only secured more market share in the last 12 months -- where it had 71% of the discrete GPU market, and now have 80% of the discrete GPU market. AMD may have launched its RDNA-powered Radeon RX 5000 series cards in that time, but they've been bleeding market share ever since.
Back in Q2 2019, AMD had 29% of the discrete GPU market share while NVIDIA had 71% -- but the end of 2019 and first half of 2020 weren't good for AMD Radeon discrete market share. NVIDIA has just continued to take more and more, and we're about to head into next-gen GPUs... will these numbers change in 3-6-12 months?

NVIDIA confirms 12-pin PCIe connector, at strange 45-degree angle
NVIDIA has provided more details on its next-gen Ampere GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards with its new "Remarkable Art & Science of Graphics Card Design" video has some of the smartest engineers and designers working at NVIDIA detailing the art and science behind graphics card designs.
They touch on some of what to expect from the future GeForce RTX 30 series card -- specifically, the new 12-pin PCIe power connector. But more importantly, during the video (at the 6:10 mark or so) you can see NVIDIA and the big shift to the new 12-pin PCIe power connector.

NVIDIA is now detailing some of the cooling technology from its previous generation graphics cards, all leading into the September 1 event where we will be introduced to the new Ampere GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards.
The new "Remarkable Art & Science of Graphics Card Design" video has some of the smartest engineers and designers working at NVIDIA detailing the art and science behind graphics card designs. There is no RTX 3080 Ti: RTX 3090 has 24GB RAM, RTX 3080 has 10GB RAM
At least... not yet ;)
It's now being confirmed by VideoCardz that NVIDIA will not be launching a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, and instead we'll see the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 unveiled on September 1.
VideoCardz said that the information had been "confirmed through our sources at AIBs" and I can confirm this, in an article I wrote not too long ago I said we would see custom GeForce RTX 30 series cards pretty quickly after launch. This is because I've talked with sources, and these sources only ever referred to the 'RTX 3090 and RTX 3080'.

The GA102 nude is courtesy of PolyMorph on Chiphell, with a beautiful dieshot of the GA102-300-A1 GPU. This isn't a final GPU that would go into an official GeForce RTX 3090 or GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card -- as they will both be powered by GA102 -- but rather a qualifying state chip for testing.

MSI will have 29 different GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070 models
MSI is gearing up for a huge next few months selling graphics cards, with the company submitting 29 different SKUs to the ECC for NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070 graphics cards.
I exclusively reported that we will see custom versions of GeForce RTX 30 series launching alongside, or shortly after NVIDIA makes the new cards official -- and it seems MSI is fully equipped to handle that onslaught of customers wanting Ampere-based custom GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards.
MSI has 14 x V388 models, 11 x V389 models, and 4 x V390 models -- where we should see those split into the GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070 -- but we don't know which models are which. We could have 14 x custom GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards, or only 4 x custom GeForce RTX 3090 cards depending on those model numbers.

GeForce RTX 3070 should offer RTX 2080 Ti level performance for $599
We are less than a week away from NVIDIA's huge GeForce RTX 30 series reveal event on September 1, where we should hopefully be introduced to the new Ampere-based graphics cards.
We already know there will be a 12-pin PCIe power connector on the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics card (which requires a huge 850W power supply), but there's some new dirt on the cheaper GeForce RTX 3070: it should beat the current Turing-based flagship GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.
Tom from Moore's Law is Dead tweeted out that he can confirm the GeForce RTX 3070 has around the same level of performance of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. He adds that "you all can do the math on how much stronger the 3080 & 3060 are relative to this based on the previous gen" with a nice big fat wink face emoticon at the end.
