New leak shows iPhone 8's fingerprint reader on the back
By now you probably heard that Apple is having some serious issues regarding the placement of the fingerprint sensor. We anticipated that the fingerprint scanner would be embedded under the display on the home screen, but due to certain issues, it seems that option is out of the picture.
Some reports suggest that Apple might ditch the Touch ID altogether and that the iPhone 8 might feature facial recognition only. We also saw a report stating that Apple will go with an enlarged power button on the side of the phone which will also serve as a fingerprint scanner.

Razer to build smartphone for gamers?
Recent rumors started after the company filed for its IPO indicate that the company may be working on a Razer smartphone. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone because Razer did buy the defunct and indebted smartphone maker Nextbit.
Nextbit made a smartphone called the Robin which was a 'cloud' phone that kept most of its storage and data in the cloud. It launched at a time when unlimited plans were still rare and didn't get any carrier to embrace it, so it was very niche and ultimately failed.

Apple patents a feature that could save lives
In a patent published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Apple describes a feature that could literally save lives.
The tech giant submitted a patent for a feature that would allow users to call emergency services "when a conventional method may not be practical." The patent describes how a user could call 911 by simply using a fingerprint.
It is already possible to call 911 from the lock screen on iOS devices, but this feature would allow users to call the emergency services even if they find themselves in a situation where an assailant or attacker is watching them.

Apple won't launch a new version of the iPhone SE?
Apple's iPhone SE was announced in March of last year, and the company still hasn't released its successor. Earlier reports indicated that the company is working on a worthy successor, but according to an analyst Pan Jiutang, that's not happening.
It appears that Apple wants to focus on phones with a larger display and has no interest in announcing another 4-inch device. If you want a smaller iPhone, you will have to make your peace with iPhone 7s, which should come with a 4.7-inch screen.

The biggest smartphone of the year could be the release of the Galaxy Note 8 from Samsung, which could be the golden kick to the guts that hurts Apple when it launches the iPhone 8 later this year gimped, lacking its wireless charging function that's causing a "sense of panic" at Apple.
Well, according to a new tease from notorious mobile leaker Evan Blass, who now writes for VentureBeat, the Galaxy Note 8 will be announced on August 23. Samsung's new Galaxy Note 8 will reportedly rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung's own Exynos 8895 processor, but have its RAM bumped up to 6GB.
Blass adds that the Note 8 will be the first Samsung smartphone with a dual-camera set up, both being 12MP with independent optical image stabilization for the lens. The fingerprint sensor will stay in the same spot as the S8, which is a real let down if it's true.

Windows Phone is now dead, Microsoft halts support
After Microsoft made a big deal about Windows Phone, their mobile OS is now dead. Microsoft ended support for Windows Phone 8.1, which means it's the end of the road for Windows Phone, period.
Windows Phone was launched back in 2010, and within 3 years it was the third most-used mobile OS in the world, but it simply didn't have the legs to begin to compete with iOS and Android. Apple and Google's mobile operating systems are now home to 99.6% of the mobile OS market.
Microsoft continued to push Windows Phone into budget smartphones running their new Windows 10 Mobile OS, but it has only received small updates since it was released, with Microsoft pivoting into the "intelligent cloud and intelligent edge". The Verge reports that Microsoft has halted the manufacturing of its own Lumia-branded smartphones, with a rumor suggesting that Microsoft will just maintain Windows 10 Mobile support through to 2018.
