New God of War gameplay video, puzzles, trolls & more detail
As the excitement hits almost a pinnacle for the new God of War another gameplay video has been released, this time we have details on some puzzles, trolls and the world.
The gameplay video released on PlayStation Underground is comprised of some short and long clips of the upcoming title. Jumping right into the video it begins with Kratos battling a massive troll, a Sony representative comments on battle giving some information regarding the origins of the troll and what players can expect when encountering these beasts.
Here is what the Sony representative had to say: "Each one [of the trolls] is different. Each has a completely different backstory. As with Norse mythology, everything has a little bit of a story, a little bit of a narrative to it. Each of these guys, they're going to look a little different, they're going to fight a little different. When you go up against them you might want to think a little differently. [...] Part of their backstory is that they've been betrayed by the Gods, and that they've got all these different cities and villages."

Xbox One X allows for Far Cry 5 to run at native 4K
In a recent report from Digital Foundry, it has been discovered that Far Cry 5 runs at a smooth 30FPS at a native 4K resolution on the Xbox One X, meaning Far Cry 5 is one of the most optimized console games of all time.
Digital Foundry ran Far Cry 5 through their tests which resulted in the title being able sustain a solid 30FPS at 4K even when in the most frame-intensive situations.
The PS4 Pro was compared to this during the testing and Sony's console could muster a resolution of 2880x1620 at a consistent 30FPS, not quite matching the Xbox One X but still coming quite close. Both vanilla versions of the consoles were able to get Far Cry 5 to run at 30FPS at 1080p, for a more detailed breakdown of how Far Cry 5 runs check out the above video from Digital Foundry.

Shadow of War devs announce the removal of microtransactions
Warner Bros. deciding to add micro-transactions to Shadow of War would of had to be one of the most controversial decisions a publisher has made, now the company had decided to back-peddle and remove the feature.
Community Manager 'MonolithMark' took to their official website to announce that after 6 months of "listening" to the community they have decided to "restore the core promise of the Nemesis System" by "permanently removing Gold, War Chests and the Market from Shadow of War."
The announcement continued on and explained that "This means the option to purchase Gold with real-world money and the ability to gain Orc Followers from War Chests will be removed. There will be a specific amount of time given for players to utilize their unused Gold. If players have unused Gold by the end of the time allotted to spend it, any remaining Gold will be converted to in-game items."

The new God of War title is just around the corner and to increase the excitement for fans Cory Barlog, God of War director has confirmed on Twitter that the new title will have a performance mode for the PS4 Pro.
Martin Milz, a fan of the upcoming God of War game asked a question to Barlog, he said: "i was wondering if you need to upgrade to a ps4 pro to fully enjoy the new god of war or will the ps4 have the same experince (i only have a reguler ps4)"
Barlog later responded to the question saying that the new God of War title will have a "performance mode" for optimization purposes, this will in-turn increase overall performance. Here is what Barlog had to say: "Nope, you don't have to, but if you do 4K is AMAZING, if you have a 4K TV, of course. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 4K texture screenshots released
Warhorse Studios has debuted their 4K texture pack to Kingdom Come: Deliverance for PC gamers wanting to up that resolution from vanilla.
Thanks to John from DSOgaming we have some screenshots with the texture pack enabled, and from the above and below images we can see a slight increase in graphical quality.
Even though the official texture pack might not be the most impressive upgrade, a positive that can be taken from this is that now modders have official 4K textures to work with. This may result in future custom mods being released for the title which will greatly improve graphical quality.

The Last Of Us and Red Dead Redemption spotted running on PC
The Last Of Us and Red Dead Redemption have been spotted running on PC via an emulator, videos have been released showcasing both of the titles.
From the above video we can see The Last Of Us running on the RPCS3 emulator, unfortunately the performance doesn't seem the greatest as there is quite a few graphical glitches and bugs.
Below we have Red Dead Redemption running on the same emulator but with much better performance, it seems there are barely any graphical glitches at all. Regardless of the performance, both of the titles running on the emulator is still quite impressive. John GodGames Emus managed to get these titles working, props to him for his efforts and hopefully an increase in performance can be eventually worked out.

New God of War trailer shows how Atreus was brought to life
Sony Interactive Entertainment released a video today detailing the efforts the studio has gone into designing and implementing Kratos' son Atreus.
The video begins with Lead Gameplay Engineer Jeet Shroff showing us some great gameplay footage of Kratos and Atreus traversing the immense world they are in.
Shroff explains that implementing Atreus was much more difficult than expected, this was mainly due to Kratos not necessarily needing any "help" in combat so the challenge layed on the developers to not make Atreus feel useless. Shroff says that this problem was solved by giving Atreus his own dedicated button, this decision in turn will allow for the player to utilize Atreus in any form of play-style.

Far Cry 5 runs at native 4K on Xbox One X
According to Digital Foundry's latest findings, Ubisoft taps the Xbox One X's boosted horsepower to run Far Cry 5 in native 4K resolution.
Usually we see Microsoft's first-party studios hitting native 4K resolution and crazy performance targets on the Xbox One X, and rightly so: after all they were directly involved in the system's testing and have the closest line to the console's engineers. But apparently Ubisoft has made a pretty substantial dev milestone with Far Cry 5 by hitting native 4K res on the Xbox One X thanks to the Dunia Engine's new upgraded prowess.
"After numerous pixel counts we've determined that Far Cry 5 delivers a full native 3840x2160 presentation on the Xbox One X," Digital Foundry's John Linneman said in the analysis video.

God of War optimized for 1080p performance on PS4 Pro
Sony Santa Monica's new God of War game will apparently have two performance modes: a mode optimized for 4K gaming, and another for 1080p with steady frame rates.
While Sony's PS4 Pro is made to help usher in the new age of 4K gaming, the company was careful not to leave 1080p gamers behind--after all most people still have HDTVs although the 4K market is expected to pick up. This leaves developers with some options: optimizing their game for 4K UHDTV owners, typically targeting 4K resolution at 30FPS with dynamic scaling for better graphics, or a more targeted performance option for 1080p gamers who receive smoother in-game performance as a result of the resolution drop. Sony's latest first-party God of War game will feature both, and should draw the maximum power from the PS4 Pro.
God of War director Cory Barlog says that God of War looks "amazing" in 4K but the game will run "so so smooth" on a PS4 Pro in 1080p.

April's free Xbox LIVE Gold games are pretty great
Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers are getting some pretty awesome free games in April, including Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.
While Sony had a fantastic free PS Plus lineup for January and February, Games With Gold smashes the competition with April's games. Microsoft's GWG headliners include Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, a huge 18th Century excursion into Ubisoft's historically-accurate depiction of London during the Industrial Revolution, and The Witness, a neat little puzzle indie game with colorful visuals.
And those are just the Xbox One games. On Xbox 360 we'll get the worthy horror successor Dead Space 2 (RIP Visceral Games!) and...Cars 2. Yeah, we're not so excited about that one but it should keep the kids entertained right?

No Man's Sky coming to Xbox with 4K upgrades for Xbox One X
After years of waiting, Xbox owners will soon be able to explore the cosmos in No Man's Sky.
When it launched in 2016 No Man's Sky was a disappointment on both PS4 and PC. Steady updates improved things and expanded the game's scope, giving players new freedoms and activities, but the core remained the same: No Man's Sky is about getting lost in a huge, sprawling inhospitable universe that resembles an old 1970's sci-fi book cover. But like I said a steady stream of updates has filled things out and made finding our way easier, but also made getting lost that much more entertaining.
Fast-forwarding to today and we see Hello Games announcing an Xbox One version as well as a huge new game update called No Man's Sky NEXT, which is due out in Summer 2018. This will be a huge undertaking and represents the biggest update the game has seen to date. Here's what Hello Games has to say about it:

April's PS Plus games revealed
Sony's PlayStation Plus games for April aren't nearly as good as January's and February's lineup.
Another new month and another new round of free games for PS Plus subscribers...but this time we'll be treated to one badass game instead of two. PS4 gamers will get Mad Max, Avalanche's unique spin on the post-apocalyptic universe with explosive chaos and rip-roaring Interceptor-fueled fun. Although the game is from 2015, it's still quite fun and definitely deserves some of your time.
Next up we have TrackMania Turbo on PS4, an arcade-style racing game that admittedly looks fun but could just as easily be one of those filler types of games. The two PS3 games for next month are In Space We Brawl and Toy Home, followed by 99 Vidas and Q*Bert Reloaded for the Vita.

No Man's Sky takes flight onto Tencent's WeGame platform
No Man's Sky will arrive on Tencent's localized Chinese gaming platform sometime soon.
China is a massive segment for the global video games market. Analyst firm Newzoo predicts that China will generate a huge $36.3 billion in game revenues in 2018, and much of that is likely gleaned from games published by Tencent. We've seen major games-makers team up with Tencent to bring their games overseas, including PUBG Corp and more recently Ubisoft, and now the devs at Hello Games are bringing their controversial space sim No Man's Sky to Tencent's Steam competing games marketplace.
In a recent update, Hello Games' lead Sean Murray confirmed that not only is No Man's Sky expanding its reach by a big console market by rolling out for Xbox One this Summer, but the game will also arrive on Tencent's WeGame platform as well. WeGame is essentially a localized version of Steam run by Tencent that gives devs and gamers a direct community to buy, sell, share, and interact with one another.

Nintendo: don't use third-party Switch docks
Following reports of Switch hardware being damaged by third-party docks, Nintendo tells gamers to avoid them and only buy officially-branded Nintendo products.
Switch owners have reported that third-party docks from Nyko are actually bricking their systems. It appears the damage happened after the Switch's new 5.0 firmware update, however Nyko has since issued a statement on the very real problem: "We believe it is related to the way the Switch handles AV output for an external TV/monitor while the console is docked on the Portable Docking Kit," Nyko said to Kotaku.
There's a few reasons why gamers would go with Nyko's Portable Docking Kit instead of carting along the official dock that comes with the Switch. First up, Nyko's dock is about $40, or half of the $80 price tag of a new Switch dock. Secondly the dock allows you to actually see the Switch's screen as you play on TV Mode. But both of these convenience options are absolutely overshadowed by the potential risk of destroying your new $299 handheld-console hybrid.
