Dishonored 2 officially announced at E3 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC
E3 2015 - Arkane Studios took to the Bethesda conference at E3 to officially announce Dishonored 2. The studio teased a trailer that wasn't in-game, but it looked impressive, and most of all, fun.
Dishonored 2 will be hitting the Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime in 2016. Arkane Studios also announced Dishonored: Definitive Edition, a remastered version of the first game that will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game will receive a graphically-enhanced version of the game, when compared against their previous generation counterparts.
Dishonored: Definitive Edition will include all of the DLC that was released for Dishonored, and will be made available in the fall.

Bethesda unveils Doom 4 at E3, with a bunch of gameplay footage
E3 2015 - Bethesda was the first to start up E3 2015, and for their first unveiling we have Doom 4. Yes, Doom 4! The next-gen first-person shooter was shown off in all of its gory detail, but does it live up to the hype?
Doom 4 is powered by id Software's id Tech 6 engine, where you play a marine based on a USAC facility on Mars, where you have to kill pretty much every single demon you can. From the gameplay video, there was a ton of gibs, with lots of violence to be had. There are a bunch of weapons to use, including the Super Shotgun, a fan favorite from the original Doom games.
But I did notice a considerable chunk of motion blur, and a very console-like experience. The field of view seemed like it was at 60, and most likely played on the Xbox One. The blood count was high in the first few minutes of the video, but then I noticed that the violence started to be toned down, with less and less blood being spilled from killed demons. I don't know if this was a resource-related issue that Bethesda didn't talk about, but I hope that it's not something that happens in the final game.

EA rumored to unveil next-gen Battlefield 5 at E3 this week
Very shortly after we posted our news on EA showing off three unannounced games with one of them being new IP, we had an industry source of ours say that they've heard that EA will be teasing Battlefield 5 at E3.
We shouldn't be surprised by this, as Battlefield is one of EA's largest franchises. It was shot in the foot majorly with Battlefield: Hardline, and with Battlefield 4 being on the market for 16 months now, it's time to start hearing about a new Battlefield game. EA is already busy with Star Wars: Battlefront, and the new Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but a surprising tease of Battlefield 5 would really shake the walls at E3.
Of course our insider could be wrong, but with EA already saying Battlefield 5 will be a military-themed shooter in the same vein as Battlefield 4, and a release of Q4 2016, it's not too far away anyway. One thing I would like to see with Battlefield 5 is a full concentration on the PC build of the game, where they water it down to consoles. This way we will get one of the best looking games ever released, and please EA - include VR support.

EA rumored to be showing off '3 unannounced games' and new IP at E3
With E3 2015 right around the corner now, Electronic Arts is teasing its lineup of games that it will have at the show. Not only will EA be showing off games we already know about, but industry insider Shinobi602 says that EA will be showing off "3 unannounced EA games, one of which is a new IP".
EA will be presenting a large amount of games at E3 next week, including FIFA 16, EA SPORTS FIFA, Madden NFL 16, Madden NFL Moible, Minions Paradise, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, NBA LIVE 16, Need for Speed, NHL 16, EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR, Star Wars Battlefront, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
But it's the 3 unannounced games, with one of them being new IP that has me interested. I'm really hoping we get to see Battlefield 5 unveiled, with the player numbers on Battlefield 4 dropping, and Battlefield Hardline pretty much being a flop. Mass Effect 4 is sure to be shown off, but some new IP would be good to see, too.

ArmA 3's new terrain surface looks incredible in a recreation of Tanoa
Bohemia Interactive has had its upcoming ArmA 3 expansion detailed in a new leak, where we've been teased of a beautiful new environment that is a far cry from the maps we have in ArmA 3, as you can see in the images below.
The beautiful island of Tanoa, found in the South Pacific, is part of Horizon Islands. Tanoa is a lush tropical environment, with a thick jungle floor and very large geological features. Not only is Tanoa absolutely massive, but the upcoming expansion for ArmA 3 will feature new vehicles, weapons, attachments, gear, story content, and much more.
The developer will be detailing the ArmA 3 expansion during E3 next year, with the expansion due for release sometime in the first half of 2016.

Nintendo racks up 52 million 3DS sales worldwide
The Nintendo 3DS has surpassed 15 million units sold in the United States, boosted by a strong library of game titles, Nintendo said. The Japanese gaming company launched the 3DS to US consumers in March 2011, and had to refresh efforts immediately due to disappointing early sales.
However, the addition of Super Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Pokemon has helped boost sales. To date, the 3DS has sold more than 52 million units worldwide, as Nintendo continues to cater to a niche gamer group.
"While crossing 15 million units is certainly a significant milestone, we are equally excited about the new momentum we've created in 2015 thanks to new hardware and an unrivaled library of software," said Scott Moffitt, marketing executive at Nintendo, in a statement published by GameSpot. "With more great games on the way and a hardware system for every type of gamer, 2015 is shaping up to be one of the stronger years yet for Nintendo 3DS in the United States."

Unreal Engine 4 and DX12 will see improved performance for Xbox One
Epic Games has teased that there will be performance improvements to Unreal Engine 4-powered games on the Xbox One thanks to DirectX 12. The news was revealed by Ray Davis, the General Manager of Epic Games, during an interview with Gaming Bolt.
Davis said: "The most intriguing aspect of DirectX 12 to me is the notion that it's a concerted effort to remove as much cruft from between the developer and the hardware itself, which means out of the box we're able to immediately do more for free, essentially. Microsoft has done a great job with the updates, and it's also worth mentioning that they've been a great partner in soliciting feedback from the developers to help guide the future design. Hopefully we'll see the official launch soon so players can start seeing the benefits firsthand!"
Davis continued, adding that DX12 and UE4 could deliver even better looking, better performing games on the Xbox One: "Unreal Engine 4 already does a great job of showcasing what the Xbox One is capable of and with the advent of DirectX 12 we're excited to see developers squeezing even more out of the hardware. Several internal Microsoft teams are using UE4 for games development so it's made it incredibly easy to closely partner with them and to ensure that Unreal Engine is a great development tool for the broader Microsoft ecosystem".

NPD: PlayStation 4 outsold the Xbox One in May
The Sony PlayStation 4 has retaken its console sales lead over the Microsoft Xbox One after a strong month of May, according to The NPD Group.
"As we head into E3, we would like to thank gamers for making PS4 the top-selling console and the leader in software sales in the U.S. in May," a Sony spokesperson told GamesBeat. "We are truly humbled by this success and we look forward to sharing what's next for PS4 at our E3 press conference on June 15."
The PS4 has dominated the Xbox One so far in 2015, outselling the American manufacturer every but April - and Sony has continued to solidify its strong lead. In addition, the PS4 versions of the top 10 game titles in May outsold their Xbox One counterparts - well, except for Minecraft.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
If you haven't upgraded from the Sony PlayStation 3 or Microsoft Xbox 360, you'll still have the opportunity to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. The game is expected to launch on November 6.
"However, we know that there are still some fans that haven't made the transition to the new console hardware, which is why we're happy to share that we're working with developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3," Activision noted in a blog post.
Of course, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game will feature campaign, multiplayer and zombie modes, but some features will be unavailable to previous generation console owners - such as the campaign mode will support two-player - not four-player - cooperative play.

EA announces Mirror's Edge Catalyst, more details coming at E3
E3 kicks off next week, but we're seeing a boat load of game announcements and teases before the show, such as EA officially announcing Mirror's Edge Catalyst.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst's Senior Producer, Sara Jansson, said in a letter to fans: "Two years ago we revealed that we were making a new Mirror's Edge. Last year, we gave you a behind the scenes look into some of the early progress we had made. And though we haven't said much else in all that time, we have been listening. Thank you for your incredible passion and your patience. I'm excited to tell you that it's paid off - by this time next week, you will have finally seen more of the game at E3".
She continued: "Mirror's Edge has always had a special place in the hearts of all of us at DICE. The first game had a lot of promise. It was unlike anything else in terms of the gameplay and style - it had a unique soul. But as much as we loved that game, we knew it could be more. So that's what we have set out to do as we introduce Mirror's Edge to a new generation".

The studio behind The Order: 1886 hires Blizzard's ex-COO Paul Sams
With The Order: 1886 doing quite well as an exclusive to the PlayStation 4, developer Ready At Dawn, has some money to spend. The Irvine, California-based studio has just announced it has hired Blizzard's Chief Operating Officer, Paul Sams, as well as the expansion of its operations found in Austin, Texas.
Ready At Dawn has also said that it's in the process of finding a partner that will inject funds into the studio so that it can continue to create projects "of the transmedia IPs that we create" adds the developer. The company wrote on its official website of the news, with Ready At Dawn's co-founder and CEO Ru Weerasuriya saying: "It is never easy finding someone to take over the reins of a company after this many years, but I cannot think of anyone better suited to guide the team as we look to the future. He is one of the most accomplished, respected and experienced leaders in our industry".
Sams enjoyed a very successful run over at Blizzard, where he "played a key role in guiding the company from less than 50 employees to over 4,000 and to grow company value well in excess of $5 billion", writes Ready At Dawn. Sams was responsible for many of Blizzard's biggest games and services, such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, StarCraft, Battle.net, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch. Sams himself added: "Ready at Dawn is one of the best pure game developers in the industry. After 12 years, they remain an independent developer true to their craft of creating gameplay in unique and immersive worlds filled with engaging characters and experiences".

Fallout 4 'will never work' on the Xbox 360 or PS3
Bethesda unveiled Fallout 4 last week, with some beautiful graphics and a world that will beat the size of Skyrim considerably. But it's the news that it 'will never work' on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 that should have gamers happy.
Bethesda says that Fallout 4 "looks amazing" visually, and this is thanks to the studio coding the game for the current generation Xbox One and PS4 consoles, as well as PC. This obviously means they had to leave behind the previous generation Xbox 360 and PS3, but this is for a good reason - to allow the game to look as good as it does.

Slightly Mad Studios: Project Cars has sold over 1 million units
Project Cars has been one of the most talked about games of the year, with Slightly Mad Studios announcing that they have sold over one million copies since it was released a month ago.
The studio, together with publisher Bandai Namco, released a statement with SMS head Ian Bell saying: "Throughout the development of Project CARS the community were instrumental in guiding the game - giving us feedback daily on each build iteration, telling us what needed improving, highlighting what they'd like to see included, and ultimately approving it as the racing game of their dreams. Even with this amount of early indication that the bold, ambitious vision we had was on track to be something that would truly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the existing leading titles in the genre, it wasn't until the first review scores came in that we truly realised how much Project CARS had resonated with both media, racing professionals, and gamers alike around the world".
He continued: "To now stand here having reached over a million players in such a short time really justifies the work both the team and the community have done over the years and solidifies Project CARS' future as the multi-platform racing experience of choice for fans around the world. And we'll be talking more about that future very, very soon".

Rumor: Microsoft 1TB Xbox One bundle will be announced soon
Microsoft plans to launch a new Xbox One bundle featuring a console unit with 1TB of storage and the shiny new controller with a 3.5mm audio jack.
There was a brief listing on Amazon for the console bundle, which includes The Master Chief Collection for $400, but it has been removed. The Amazon listing noted that the "item will be released on June 15, 2015," which means a public announcement is expected during E3.
Although 1TB of storage may seem like overkill for game consoles, it could become a necessity with the rise of downloadable content. Destiny weighs in at 25GB, while Batman: Arkham Knight will be 45GB - so you may want that larger storage space.

Xbox boss says Microsoft fully behind Windows gaming movement
Microsoft and the Xbox team expect Windows 10 to become a solid overall operating system, but have special plans in regards to gaming. The company is removing middleware added to games for Windows Live, and expects to provide a better streamlined experience for gamers. However, there are plenty of other features that should excite gamers moving forward:
The idea that Xbox will be integrated into Windows 10 is another clear indicator that Microsoft wants to push Windows 10 forward - and hopefully generate extra interest in the Xbox One. Windows 10 is the "best version of Windows ever for both gamers and developers alike," and that will become clearer during the company's E3 event later this month.
"We weren't fully committed as a company, and I've said that before," said Phil Spencer, head Xbox executive, while speaking to PC Gamer. "We made commitments to developers and consumers that I don't feel we lived up to... the key difference now is that the Xbox team is driving the Windows and console gaming efforts as one connected ecosystem."

Not happy with your game? Steam now lets you return it
Valve has introduced a refund policy for Steam purchases, with gamers allowed to "request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam - for any reason." The offer is good for Steam purchases within 14 days and the game must have been played for less than two hours - all requests can be filed through the Steam support system.
The refunds apply to downloadable content, in-game purchases (for Valve-developed games), pre-purchased titles, bundles, and Steam Wallet purchases. Anyone banned by the Valve Anti-Cheat system are ineligible for refunds, and no refunds will be made on purchases outside of Steam, or on purchased movies or gifts.
Prior to this sudden change, Valve would only issue refunds under extreme circumstances, so this could be a welcome change for PC gamers.

Techland CEO says Dying Light has reached 4.5 million gamers
The open-world first person survival horror game Dying Light has reached 4.5 million gamers, according to Techland.
Techland has released several Dying Light DLC packages for gamers, and it's possible an expansion could be developed one day. Even if the 4.5 million figure isn't actual game copies sold, it's still a major success for the studio.
"Sales [we] count later - we need time to calculate the sales and returns and so on," said Pawel Marchewka, CEO of Techland, in a statement to Eurogamer. "Unique users means all the unique users we calculated on the server playing the game for significant number of time. Sales might be slightly less because that includes also secondary sales."
