The latest console shipment numbers from Sony's holiday 2022 period earnings report shows that PlayStation 5 sales are finally starting to rise due to increased availability. This new wave of shipments shows us where PlayStation currently is and the potential of its overall hardware growth.

Sony shipped 7.1 million PlayStation 5 consoles in Holiday 2022, bringing total PS5 shipments to 32.1 million while also elevating total platform unit shipments. According to numbers provided by Sony and compiled by us, the PlayStation brand has shipped 585.6 million consoles and handhelds across the lifetime of each system. The data ranges from the PS1 to the PS5 and also includes PS Vita and PSP shipments.

New Dragon Age leaks may have spoiled the events that take place during opening sequence of the game.

New info, gameplay footage, and screenshots were recently leaked from an alpha build of Dragon Age Dreadwolf, the next big game in BioWare's fantasy series. The leaks were apparently captured from a playtest from an earlier version of Dreadwolf and include important story beats that could set the overall tone of the game.

The leaks show an invasion of Weisshaupt Fortress, the mythical home of the legendary heroic protectors known as Grey Wardens. Players actually take on the role of a Grey Warden during the sequence. It's unknown of players are taking control in media res or not, but it could be the case. Dragon Age Inquisition threw players into the fray in a similar fashion.

Playtest sources have told Insider Gaming that Dragon Age Dreadwolf does not allow players to control party members. This sentiment has also been echoed by other leakers. This was a big problem in Mass Effect Andromeda and was the second-largest issue I had with the game.

PlayStation delivered record-breaking results in Holiday 2022. During the Q3 FY22 period, Sony made nearly $8.8 billion from its PlayStation gaming ecosystem. These stellar results show the entire PlayStation platform firing on all cylinders and include full game sales, subscriptions/services, and hardware, which make a significant portion of quarterly earnings. Sony's fusillade of PS5s during the holiday quarter helped skyrocket console earnings past $3 billion.

The team of astronomers from around the world have honed their efforts on one exoplanet in particular, Wolf 1069 b.

In a new paper published in Astronomy and Astrophysics by a team of fifty international astronomers details Wolf 1069, an exoplanet that is only 31 light-years from Earth and is a very similar size to our planet. The astronomers found that Wolf 1069 is about 1.26 the mass of Earth and 1.08 the size. Additionally, researchers found the exoplanet orbits its host red dwarf star much faster than Earth orbits the Sun, with Wolf 1069 only taking 15.6 days to complete one full rotation.

Since the exoplanet is orbiting a red dwarf star, it receives approximately 65% of the solar radiance that Earth receives. Red dwarf stars are much smaller and cooler than the sun, and because of that Wolf 1069's surface temperatures are also much cooler despite its close proximity. According to the paper, the exoplanet's surface temperatures range between -139.27 degrees Fahrenheit (-95.15 Celsius) and 55.13 degrees Fahrenheit (12.85 C), with an average surface temperature of -40.25 F (-40.14 C).

An invite sent to the press has revealed that Google is planning on hosting an event next week that will unveil its work on artificial intelligence and how it will power Google Search.

According to an invitation sent to The Verge, Google will be hosting a 40-minute livestream event on YouTube on February 8 at 8:30 AM ET. The event will cover the use of artificial intelligence and how Google is wielding AI to reimagine how people search for, explore and interact with information on its platform. The company explains that its developments in AI have made it more natural and intuitive than ever before to search for information.

This announcement of a new event appears to be a knee-jerk reaction from Google in response to the mass popularity of OpenAI's viral sensation, ChatGPT. Notably, ChatGPT is being integrated into Microsoft's Bing browser, which may allow Bing to offer more interactive and informative results when queried by a user. This feature of more intelligent summaries may cause Google to lose users, hence its decision to now reveal what its been working on behind closed doors.

Researchers have performed an analysis on Saturn's smallest moon Mimas and found evidence that the small moon may actually have an internal ocean.

Mimas is Saturn's smallest and inner-most moon, and according to researchers that published a recent paper in the Geophysical Research Letters journal, NASA's Cassini Mission to Saturn identified an oscillation in Mimas' rotation, which is typically an indicator for that body being geologically active body and able to support an internal ocean. Notably, researchers first believed that Mimas wouldn't be a likely candidate for an internal ocean as its icy surface is peppered with craters and featured one giant crater that makes the moon resemble the iconic Death Star from Star Wars.

This large crater on Mimas was the focal point of the study and is called the Herschel impact basin. Scientists modeled the formation of the Hershel impact basin using simulation software called iSALE-2D. The results indicated that Mimas' crust had to be 34 miles thick when the Hershel impact occurred. Notably, recent observations of Mimas indicate that the crust is approximately 19 miles thick, leading researchers to believe that Mimas has been warming and expanding since the Hershel impact.

A team of astronomers have discovered Jupiter has more moons than what was officially recorded, adding twelve more to the total for the biggest planet in our solar system.

The twelve new moons were discovered using telescopes in Hawaii and Chile throughout 2021 and 2022. Initial data gathered by telescopes was then followed up with additional observations to confirm each orbit of the target moons. According to the results, these moons aren't very big at all, measuring ranging in size from 0.6 miles to 2 miles in diameter. Notably, the new moons have been added to the official list maintained by the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center.

Previous official numbers put Jupiter's total number of moons at 80, giving it a second-place trophy behind Saturn for the planet in our solar system that features the most moons. Saturn currently has 83 confirmed moons, but now Jupiter has added another 12 to its orbit, meaning it has become our solar system's most moon-infested planet with a total of 92 confirmed moons.

The jury has given their verdict on the lawsuit filed by Tesla shareholders that claimed Tesla CEO Elon Musk misled shareholders with his infamous 2018 tweet that said he'd secured funding to take Tesla private.

The lawsuit points to two tweets from Musk that were posted on August 7, 2018, where the Tesla CEO wrote he had "funding secured" to take Tesla private, which was shortly followed up by another tweet that stated the deal was imminent. In response to these tweets, Tesla's stock price increased over a 10-day period before it fell back to normal prices after Musk indicated the deal was abandoned. The lawsuit pushed for Musk to pay potentially billions of dollars for any damages caused to shareholders during this period.

Musk spent approximately eight hours on the stand answering questions about the context of the tweets and his motivation for posting them. According to the Tesla CEO, a deal was lined up with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which at first expressed large amounts of interest in taking Tesla private and verbally confirmed the deal was set to happen. Musk defended his tweets following this verbal confirmation by saying that he had no "ill motive" and that his intent behind the tweets was to keep Tesla shareholders in the loop.

Elon Musk took to his personal Twitter account to announce new features for the platform. These features are aimed at encouraging users to sign up for Twitter Blue.

The Twitter CEO announced on February 4 that, effective immediately, Twitter will begin sharing advertising revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads. This ad-revenue-sharing feature is only eligible for accounts that have purchased Twitter Blue. While that feature is certainly welcomed by creators, one YouTuber asked Musk a question regarding accounts that received a verification checkmark before Musk took over the company and overhauled Twitter Blue.

Previously, Twitter accounts that were given the verified checkmark indicated the account was a public person, or a notable figure. Now, Musk has changed the system and hands out a verification checkmark to accounts paying for Twitter Blue. The YouTuber asked, "I'm curious, if an account was verified before Twitter Blue, then signs up for Blue, then eventually unsubscribes down the road, does that account keep its previous verified status? I suspect this unknown scares older accounts from jumping into Blue."

Gaming's Big 3 will not attend E3 2023, sources have told IGN.

When I first started off writing about games many years ago, the Electronics Entertainment Expo was a kind of pipe dream for me. E3 was kind of a mecca for the industry. It was a part of the big endgame quest for a games journalist. Nowadays the show is not even a shadow of what it once was--the sun has set on E3.

Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft--collectively known as the Big 3--had always been the anchors for E3. They were the tentpoles that held the whole thing together as developers everywhere showed how their products run on the Big 3 systems. Now the triad of gaming have pretty much abandoned E3 for good.

A group of scientists have devised a novel way to produce skin in almost any 3D shape, which could then be transplanted as "biological clothing".

The team of researchers from Columbia University published a new study in the journal Science Advances that through their method, they are able to create three-dimensional skin constructs from ears to elbows to entire hands that can then be transplanted as 'biological clothing' to individuals that have suffered from burns those affected regions. This method involves a 3D laser scanning the site on the body that needs a skin graft.

A digital profile is then created of the scanned area, which is then tinkered with in a CAD program. After the touch-ups are complete, the 3D render is then printed. The above skin glove is entirely covered in skin fibroblasts and collagen, along with keratinocytes, which is the most common type of skin cell that makes up the structural component of the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin on the human body. This layer of skin is responsible for repelling your body from harm, keeping your skin hydrated, and producing new skin cells.

Michael Burry is known for being one of the few investors to predict and profit from the subprime mortgage crisis that resulted in the 2008 global financial crisis.

Burry made his name as an investor through his hedge fund Scion Capital which was formed in 2000. From its November 1, 2000 inception to June 2008, Scion Capital recorded returns of 489.34% net of fees and expenses. The majority of these gains were through Burry's prediction of the collapse of subprime mortgages that profited him personally approximately $100 million. In 2008 Burry closed down Scion Capital to focus on personal investments, which he has been sparingly vocal about on his Twitter account.

However, those predictions have seemingly come to an end as Burry has deactivated his Twitter account following an ominous one-word tweet, "sell". Since Burry has been focusing on personal investments his tweets, which can sometimes cause division, attract the attention of the mainstream media. For instance, Burry left Twitter in June 2021 after predicting the "greatest speculative bubble of all time in all things", warning cryptocurrency and meme stockholders of the "mother of all crashes".

A group of scientists looked for assistance from an artificial intelligence to make what they deemed as an accurate prediction for an approaching problem.

A new study published in the journal Proceeding of the National Academy of Science details the combined use of artificial intelligence and current climate models. The researchers behind the study explain that the United Nations Paris Agreement aims to hold global warming below far below 2 degrees Celsius and is really aiming for below 1.5 degrees or more. Since mainstream climate models state that global warming is accelerating, there has been interest in how long it will be until that 1.5 degrees Celsius threshold is hit.

According to the researchers, an artificial intelligence was fed climate models that contain data on historical temperature patterns, and according to the results, global warming is already well on its way to blowing past the 1.5 degrees threshold. Notably, the study states that even if there was a sudden substantial reduction in the amount of greenhouse gasses produced across the planet, there is still a real possibility that global warming will hit 2 degrees Celsius.

Twitter is having a field day after it was discovered that one of Netflix's new pieces of content credited artificial intelligence for its role in the development of the movie.

The new anime is called "Dog and Boy" and is a short film by Netflix Anime Creators Base under an "experimental effort" to address the anime industry's labor shortage, according to a press release posted to Netflix Japan's official website. The short film began production in January 2022, and according to Netflix, the project was to demonstrate the capabilities of AI-generated artwork being used for the background images throughout the video. These background images created by the AI were guided by humans but generated by the AI.

While the story of the short film itself was moving, the fact that Netflix credited artificial intelligence with "+humans" in brackets sparked outrage on Twitter. With many users rallying behind the idea that Netflix has chosen to test out how AI-generated content performs so it can reduce its costs by eventually not paying animators. Additionally, the credits at the end of the short list Rinna Inc, an AI artwork company, and several AI researchers.

A telescope located at the summit area of Maunakea, the highest point in the state of Hawaii, has captured a "mysterious" spiral appearing in the night sky on January 18, 2023.

The Subaru Telescope has published footage of the event, and the observatory explains that its Asahi STAR Camera that's installed at the Catwalk of the Subaru Telescope captured a spiral forming in the night sky that eventually dissipated over the following thirty minutes. The observatory believes that the spiral was caused by SpaceX launching its GPS III Space Vehicle 06 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. SpaceX launched its rocket at 7:24 AM EST on January 18, 2023

Notably, Ichi Tanka, a researcher at the Subaru Telescope, said that he wasn't the first person to spot the phenomena as he was sent a screenshot from an individual that was viewing the timelapse livestream of the Asahi STAR Camera. Tanka described his reaction when he saw the screenshot of the livestream, saying, "When I opened Slack, that is what I saw, and it was a jaw-dropping event for me."

The most popular GPU is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (6.04%), which is closely followed by the GeForce GTX 1060, GeForce RTX 3060, GeForce RTX 2060, and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. These GPUs represent around 30% of all Steam users, and with that, most PC gamers use the GPUs to play games.

With the launch of the new Ryzen 7000 CPU range last year and the Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs dropping soon, AMD decided to switch from its AM4 motherboard standard to the new PCIe Gen5 and DDR5-powered AM5. The by-product of this meant that those early Ryzen 7000 adopters had to fork out for a new CPU, motherboard, and fast DDR5 memory. And as with anything new, none of that came cheap.

With AM5 set to be the Ryzen standard for the foreseeable future, AMD has confirmed that its board partners are getting ready to launch a new range of B650 motherboards that will be more affordable. This means prices will be much closer to the USD 125 promised when the first B650E and B650 motherboards hit the scene.

AMD expects these motherboards to launch in Q1 2023, with full overclocking support and cutting-edge AM5 features.
