Sony Interactive Entertainment will attend the annual Tokyo Game Show event for the first time since 2019.

Tokyo Game Show 2024 will kick off on September 26, and Sony will be at the event. The PlayStation brand will attend as an exhibitor on the main exhibition floor, however it's unclear what will be shown at the big affair. The official TGS website lists Sony Interactive Entertainment as an attendee in the "general exhibition area", so it's possible there could be some new products and/or games highlighted at their booth.

It's also possible the PlayStation 5 Pro will be at TGS 2024 in some capacity. The PS5 Pro is expected to enable higher-performance gameplay with more consistent frame rates and better raytracing visuals, all powered by a beefier GPU and and overclocked CPU.

Here's something a bit different: a mini PC that's been tucked away inside a keyboard, and it's a seriously portable peripheral (15 x 10cm) at that.

This is an innovative device revealed by a Chinese manufacturer, Linglong, who showed off the keyboard PC in a presentation on Bilibili (as flagged up by Tom's Hardware).

The ambitious Fallout: London from Team FOLON is part Fallout 4 mod, part new game set in the Fallout universe. It was initially slated to be released in April 2024. However, with the arrival of Betehsda's Fallout 4 next-gen patch for PS5, Xbox, and PC, which coincided with the release of the Prime Video TV series, Team FOLON delayed the launch to ensure that they didn't run into any compatibility issues.

The good news is that the ambitious Fallout mod is now in the final stages of QA or Quality Assurance testing. Multiple builds with GOG and Team FOLON are "waiting for the final green light" before launching Fallout: London. GOG is distributing the mod due to its size, and yes, it will arrive with its own installer that will work with all copies of the game regardless of the PC platform or storefront.

"There has been a lot of speculation regarding our upcoming release, and we wanted to open up and clear the air for our core supporters," Team FOLON wrote on X/Twitter. "The bottom line is that we've sent several builds over to GOG for QA testing and are waiting for the final green light."

Recently, we reported on GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GPUs from MSI and Colorful (and a few others) starting to appear with the AD102 silicon, the same GPU chip found in the flagship GeForce RTX 4090. Of course, there's a massive difference between the 18,432 CUDA Core count in the GeForce RTX 4090 and the 8,448 in the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.

For these new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics cards using the AD102 chip, nearly half of the GPU is disabled to meet the spec requirement, pointing to this being NVIDIA using stock that wasn't ready for the RTX 4090 and RTX 4090D. This is just a formality for the everyday consumer, with the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER using a non-standard AD102 GPU instead of AD103. Performance remains the same, albeit with a higher 10W power rating.

Microsoft has filed an interesting patent for display technology that effectively decrypts documents in real-time based on a user's gaze. Yeah, so at a glance, the encrypted document would be unreadable to anyone apart from the document's owner. The technology would decrypt the document in real-time based on where the user is looking - and only the components or sections they're currently looking at.

It takes the idea of the 'privacy screen' to a new level, as it isn't limited to hiding what's on screen for those sitting at an angle or behind someone in a public area but works in conjunction with document encryption and decryption.

As Windows Report spotted, the patent and documentation don't explain exactly how it will work. However, it will use a webcam and eye-tracking technologies to determine where you're looking and ensure that reading an entire document with this system isn't slow and laborious.

ASRock has launched new Intel Arc graphics cards, the Intel Arc A770 Challenger SE 16GB OC and Intel Arc A750 Challenger SE 8GB OC, sporting updated cooling designs and a slightly smaller form factor. These SE or Second Edition GPUs build on the existing Challenger models released by ASRock last year, with the main changes revolving around the cooler and physical build, so performance is expected to remain the same.

Both are compact dual-fan GPUs, and the new dimensions (267mm x 130mm x 48mm) make them roughly 2-3% smaller than the previous variants. The overall look is in line with previous models; however, now, it has added RGB lighting. And much like it does with its Phantom Gaming cards, ASRock includes a physical switch so you can turn the lighting on or off directly from the GPU.

AMD's upcoming next-gen Zen 5-based flagship Ryzen 9 9950X processor is expected to feature the same maximum CPU frequency as the Zen 4-based Ryzen 9 7950X at up to 5.85GHz.

The FMAX or peak frequency is the maximum default clock limit that is allowed within the BIOS of AMD's fleet of Ryzen CPUs, with the current-gen Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" processors FMAX at 5.85GHz for the Ryzen 9 7950X processor, and it looks like it'll be the same for the Ryzen 9 9950X processor and Zen 5.

In a new post by AnandTech forum member "igor_kavinski" who is reportedly using an ES sample of the Zen 5-based Ryzen 9 9950X processor, running at up to 5849MHz (5.85GHz). The 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 9 9950X features 64MB of L3 cache and a maximum boost clock of 5.70GHz, with 170W TDP and above 200W+ with PBO activated, and up to 5.85GHz frequencies enjoyed.

A research team at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EFPL) have developed a 2D quantum cooling system that's capable of reducing temperatures down to 100 millikelvins, all by converting heat into electrical voltage.

Ultra-low operating temperatures are the cornerstone of quantum computing, as quantum bits (qubits) are sensitive to heat and must be cooled down to less than 1K. Even the thermal energy generated by the electronics needed to run the quantum computer itself have caused performance issues of qubits.

LANES PhD student Gabriele Pasquale explained: "If you think of a laptop in a cold office, the laptop will still heat up as it operates, causing the temperature of the room to increase as well. In quantum computing systems, there is currently no mechanism to prevent this heat from disturbing the qubits".

It looks like the entry-level Core Ultra 3 series "Arrow Lake" processors aren't happening, with Core Ultra 3 chips under the new Core Ultra 200 series "Arrow Lake" banner will instead be "Raptor Lake Refresh" processors.

In some new posts on X, new leaker on the scene "Jaykihn" said that there would be no Arrow Lake-S Intel Core Ultra 3 SKU lineup this generation. We'll still see the Core Ultra 5, Core Ultra 7, and Core Ultra 9 SKUs powered by the new Arrow Lake architecture, but that doesn't mean we won't get a Core Ultra 3 offering, it'll just be a Raptor Lake Refresh chip.

Jaykihn explained: "There is no ARL-S Intel Core Ultra 3 SKU lineup this generation. Note that this does not mean there won't be a desktop Core Ultra 3 SKU lineup this generation. It just means that, if there is one, it won't be on the Arrow Lake architecture. Full ARL-S lineup details soon".

After 41 long, hard years, Microsoft has finally updated the Notepad app on Windows 11 with spellchecking and autocorrect features.

After initially upgrading Notepad with the new and enhanced features back in March 2024 for insiders, the upgraded Notepad app is now official in Windows 11... very quietly, we might add. If you're old enough, Notepad first appeared the year I was born -- 1983 -- and hasn't had any upgrades in those 41 years, until now.

Microsoft baked in some updates to the Notepad app back in July 0218, with some wrap-around find/replace, text zooming, and line numbers with word-wrap enabled, but when Windows 11 launched in late 2021, we got a few more updates to Notepad. This included dark mode (so good), auto-saving and session retiring, and a pretty useful new tabbed interface if you're working with multiple files.

In a new post on X, a new leaker on the scene, "Jaykihn," teased that Intel's upcoming Core Ultra 200 series "Arrow Lake" desktop CPUs will get the new technology. Fast Throttle or "Per-Core Thermal Throttle" is something Intel uses on its Raptor Lake Refresh processors.

When your CPU gets too hot, the entire processor is slowed down -- something we all call thermal throttling, or on the professional side of things TJMax -- to keep thermals under control. Sure, the thermals come down through this technique, but so does the performance of your processor. It doesn't matter if it's just a few cores that are overheating, the entire chip slows down.
