Anthony Garreffa | Mobile Devices | Sep 17, 2019 12:00 AM CDT

OnePlus has teased that it will unveil its new OnePlus 7T smartphone on September 26, with a simultaneous India-based event and then off to Europe on October 10.

OnePlus 7T unveiling on September 26, rocks 90Hz display

The new OnePlus 7T will have a 90Hz display, but other than that the event invitation is quiet. Inside, we should expect Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 855+ chip, out-of-the-box Android 10, faster charging, and more -- all gravy on that 90Hz display.

Around the back, the new OnePlus 7T is expected to catch up in the triple-camera department, a 3800mAh battery on the regular 7T while a larger 4085mAh battery is expected for the 7T Pro.

AMD rumored to have Zen 2 inside next-gen Microsoft Surface devices

Anthony Garreffa | Mobile Devices | Sep 16, 2019 11:39 PM CDT

A super-hot new rumor -- if true, could change things in a big way. Microsoft is reportedly eyeing off custom AMD silicon for its next-gen Surface devices, after years of exclusively using Intel hardware in its Surface devices.

AMD rumored to have Zen 2 inside next-gen Microsoft Surface devices

The next-gen Surface Laptop 2 could have AMD hardware inside, and would mark a large change for both Microsoft (to shift away from Intel) and for AMD (to have its tech good enough that Microsoft wants to use it in their products). It makes sense given that AMD is providing hardware to Microsoft for its next-gen Xbox Scarlett, too.

All of AMD's products it will provide Microsoft, be it for the Xbox Scarlett or next-gen Surface products, will be 7nm and use the Zen 2 CPU architecture and Navi GPU architecture.

Detroit: Become Human PC teaser trailer released

The official PC teaser trailer has been teased, with Quantic Dream teasing at the end of the video to subscribe to the official YouTube channel for Detroit: Become Human to see the world premiere of the new PC trailer -- that we presume is coming real soon.

The PC version of Detroit: Become Human is expected to be the best version of the game, previous a PS4 exclusive. Quantic Dream is using the Vulkan API, will require 4 GB of RAM and a low-end GTX 660 with 2GB of VRAM minimum. Of course the game scales on your hardware depending on the resolution and detail level, something I can't wait to check out when it drops.

No, you can't have sex with Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 8:35 PM CDT

We all know the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be an interesting one, with developer CD Projekt RED removing genders from the game -- a move that has pushed the boundaries of character customization, but what about sex and romance?

No, you can't have sex with Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 won't be limited to hetereosexual romances, as V you can romance and sleep with whoever is willing -- but you won't get down and dirty with Keanu Reeves. During the Tokyo Game Show, Cyberpunk 2077 level designer Max Pears told VGC said: "Keanu plays a crucial role in the game, but as for the option to romance him, I don't believe you can".

Pears added: "One of the things we've done to make sure the game addresses things a certain way is a lot of the time NPCs are just going to refer to you as 'V', because you won't be able to choose your name".

World of Tanks dev teams with Intel on ray tracing tech for DX11 GPUs

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 7:49 PM CDT

World of Tanks will be getting ray tracing technology for a tiny portion of its world, with developer Wargaming announcing it teamed with Intel to introduce ray tracing in World of Tanks.

World of Tanks dev teams with Intel on ray tracing tech for DX11 GPUs

Wargaming teamed with Intel on the ray tracing addition to World of Tanks, which won't require an NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card -- in fact, any DX11-capable GPU will work. The entire game isn't being re-pained with ray tracing, but instead the "main actors" in the game are in higher-quality so that they have much more detail when the sun hits them.

The developer explains: "With the introduction of our Ray Tracing (RT) technology-developed at Wargaming with close collaboration with Intel-we can recreate the "main actors" of our game in higher quality; their smallest details will give super-realistic shadows when the sun hits them".

Stadia won't support Android TVs at launch, coming instead in 2020

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 6:22 PM CDT

Google's new Stadia game-streaming service won't support native Android-powered TVs at launch, but functionality will be added in 2020.

Stadia won't support Android TVs at launch, coming instead in 2020

Although it's touted as a revolutionary service that brings gaming to devices you already own, Stadia will only support three platforms at launch: PC and laptops via Chrome browsers, Chromecast for TVs, and Pixel 3 phones and above. Android-enabled televisions won't get Stadia support until after 2020, and even then it could require Android 11 R in order to run. You'll have to buy a Chromecast Ultra in order to play Stadia on an HDTV in 2019.

The news was passed along via a closed XDA Developers event that confirmed Stadia is coming to Android TVs in 2020. The service aims to take on consoles with a digital online-only subscription that gives players access to a games market. It's not an all-you-can-play type service, though, and gamers will have to buy games a la carte unless they buy into the Stadia Pro subscription. Then you get a free game a month plus sweeping discounts on the store.

You can go anywhere in Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima says

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 4:31 PM CDT

All of Death Stranding's in-game world will be fully explorable and traversable, from deep valleys to high snow-capped mountains.

You can go anywhere in Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima says

Death Stranding is a huge game. Players are on an expansive East-to-West trek across the continental United States, complete with rifts, valleys, mountains, rolling grassy fields, rivers, and even waterfalls. It's a world reclaimed by nature, a post-apocalyptic landscape with ruins mixed with high-tech futurism haunted by freaky phantom monsters--a veritable playground for interesting open-world antics.

But will it be condensed and limited? Or will we actually be able to go anywhere? Hideo Kojima says players can go anywhere they wish, whether it be zooming across the verdant grasslands on a high-speed motorbike, skimming along on a hoverboard, or taking a lazy day meandering and floating in a river.

Death Stranding's multiplayer is rather unconventional

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 3:25 PM CDT

Death Stranding's multiplayer takes place in a shared online world that lets players interact with--but not directly play with--one another.

Death Stranding's multiplayer is rather unconventional

Hideo Kojima's new game is all about connections. It's online multiplayer binds players together via the Chiral Network, but it's not a live service game with tons of engagement-driven goals. Instead Death Stranding uses an indirect way of player interaction with a shared world that melds directly with the narrative-driven storyline.

Death Stranding's multiplayer won't let you team up with people across the world and go gallivanting across the deep sci-fi futurescapes. There's an indirect communal focus to multiplayer called the Social Strand System that allows players to share items and pepper gifts all throughout the world. Once someone picks up your gift, you get a kind of in-game karma. It's kind of like paying it forward or being generous to help someone out that you've never met.

Borderlands 3 can't hit consistent 1080p 60FPS on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 2:15 PM CDT

Borderlands 3 won't hit a fluid and consistent locked 60FPS on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X even when put in the 1080p resolution Performance Mode.

Borderlands 3 can't hit consistent 1080p 60FPS on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X

A new breakdown from Digital Foundry shows Borderlands 3 won't always hit a smooth 60FPS on today's higher-end consoles, even on the Xbox One X. Borderlands 3 includes two flexible modes on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X: a Performance Mode, which targets 60FPS and at a locked 1920x1080, and Resolution Mode, which amps the resolution to 3200x1800 and caps perf at 30FPS. Apparently there's no dynamic resolution scaling and each mode is hard-locked at their respective resolutions.

Borderlands 3 won't ever deliver 60FPS in the Resolution Mode, but gamers don't always get a steady frame rate in Performance Mode either. Most combat sequences drop around the 55FPS mark (sometimes in the low 50s) on the Xbox One X, which is notably more powerful than the PS4 Pro. The biggest frame rate drops happen during vehicular traversal and combat with about mid-40 FPS performance.

Borderlands 3 PC save fix: how to reclaim your lost progress

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 1:09 PM CDT

The Epic Games Store's cloud save functionality is corrupting or even wiping data out entirely on PC, but luckily gamers have found a fix.

Borderlands 3 PC save fix: how to reclaim your lost progress

PC players are reporting losing hours of progress in Borderlands 3 thanks to corrupted save data that can't be loaded. Other times the data is outright replaced. The issue stems from the Epic Games Store loading up either your cloud saves or your locally saved data. If the game crashes, it'll ask you to choose how it loads saves, either from cloud or local storage. Make sure you pick the one that you last used to save your data.

But if you're already stuck with missing progress there's still hope. To get your character data back you'll need to do a few things. But before you do anything, be sure to make copies of your files. All credit goes to Reddit user Tribunallackey for figuring this out, as well as the other Redditors.

Epic Store is corrupting Borderlands 3 saves

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 11:10 AM CDT

The Epic Games Store is apparently causing serious issues in Borderlands 3, and may be deleting save data files.

Epic Store is corrupting Borderlands 3 saves

There's nothing worse than losing your progress in a loot-based game. That's exactly what's happening to Borderlands 3 players on PC. Multiple frustrated gamers playing Borderlands 3 on PC have had their save games wiped out or reverted to previous states, and it looks like the Epic Games Store's cloud save functionality could be to blame.

If Borderlands 3 crashes (which it's wont to do), the game will ask you to load up data from the cloud or from a local save. You'll want to choose local save unless you recently synced to the cloud, or else you'll lose whatever progress as the game reverts from the previous state. Some gamers say the Epic Games Store launcher is replacing files, including cloud save backups.

Deleted Iron Man Movie scene points to X-Men being included in MCU

Jak Connor | TV, Movies & Home Theatre | Sep 16, 2019 8:40 AM CDT

During an awards show, the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) revealed to fans a deleted movie scene from their first MCU movie, Iron Man. The scene made direct references to the inclusion of the X-Men.

Deleted Iron Man Movie scene points to X-Men being included in MCU

The reveal was held at the Saturn Awards this past weekend and Marvel head Kevin Feige introduced the never-before-seen scene that came out of Marvels 'deleted scenes' vault. The post-credits scene features Nick Fury talking to Tony Stark in his apartment, saying "As if gamma accidents, radioactive bugs, and assorted mutants weren't enough. I have to deal with a spoiled brat who doesn't play well with others, and wants to keep all his toys to himself."

He goes on to say he is talking about the Avengers Initiative which appears of the original Iron Man movie, but the main we take out of this is the mentioning of "mutants". If you didn't know, when Disney acquired Fox the obtaining many of the rights to the X-Men characters, giving them full power into implementing them into their movies if they so choose to. This deleted scene proves that idea was at least present within the MCU's storyline and writing.

Borderlands 3 launch day concurrent player-count is 2x Borderlands 2's

Jak Connor | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 8:01 AM CDT

Borderlands 3 is already off to a massive success as the games player-count has already doubled Borderlands 2 at its peak. Gearbox's expectations for the title have already been succeeded.

Borderlands 3 launch day concurrent player-count is 2x Borderlands 2's

In the above tweet, we can see Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford taking to his personal Twitter account to announce the success of the recently released Borderlands 3. According to Pitchford, the data that him and his company have accumulated indicates that Borderlands 3's concurrent player-count has already exceeded Borderlands 2's peak concurrent player-count, quite the achievement if I do say so myself.

Pitchford also says in a follow-up Tweet that "somehow, today's concurrent player numbers are *higher* than yesterday's record breaking numbers. This greatly exceeds expectations, and our systems seem to be holding strong!" It should be noted that Pitchford is discussing the PC numbers while not including consoles, but if the PC player-count is any hint towards the titles success I think it would safe to assume that the console player-count is also doing extremely well and has exceeded Borderlands 2's peak player-count.

TSM's Jordan "Reps" Wolfe Twitter on September 14th warning all players to check their game settings before jumping it a match as he noticed that many players were changing settings after the match was completed to "screw over other teams".

He further backed up his statement by saying "I highly doubt these pro players play on 60 hz with mouse accel on and windows sens maxed and with all the monitor settings changed to be all blurry :)" It wasn't only players from TSM that were accusing other players of sabotage, as two more pro players from two separate teams also chimed in with their experiences.

First-ever colored image of interstellar comet 'Borisov' captured

Jak Connor | Gaming | Sep 16, 2019 6:06 AM CDT

The Gemini Observatory has managed to snap an awesome first-ever multi-colored image of a newly discovered comet beyond our solar system.

First-ever colored image of interstellar comet 'Borisov' captured

The image was captured during the night on September 9-10 using the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph on the Gemini North Telescope located on Hawaii's Maunakea. According to Andrew Stephens of Gemini Observatory, "This image was possible because of Gemini's ability to rapidly adjust observations and observe objects like this, which have very short windows of visibility."

He continued and said "However, we really had to scramble for this one since we got the final details at 3:00 am and were observing it by 4:45!" From the image we can see a tail on the object, this is due to its out-gassing which is requirement for a space object to be deemed a comet. This is the first time a interstellar visitor has been observed with such a strong tail.

NASA will expose the crashing landing site of India's moon lander

Last week India attempted landing on the moon and right before the country was about to achieve touchdown India's Space Research Organisation (ISRO) lost communication with the craft.

Since India can't communicate with its Chandrayaan-2 lunar lander it has been assumed that the lander has collided with the moons surface in a crash landing. NASA has decided that they will be using the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter's high-powered camera (LRO) to attempt to spot the crashed lander next week.

Noah Petro of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center said that "Per NASA policy, all LRO data are publicly available. NASA will share any before and after flyover imagery of the area around the targeted Chandrayaan 2 Vikram lander landing site to support analysis by the Indian Space Research Organization."
