Intel has detailed its next-gen Alder Lake CPU architecture, its first high-performance hybrid architecture that will debut with the new 12th Gen Core CPUs later this year.

The new Alder Lake CPUs will debut on the desktop in LGA1700 form, all the way down to mobile and ultra-mobile designs. The desktop Alder Lake flagship CPU which should take form as the Core i9-12900K, will have 8 P-cores, and 8 E-cores, with the 8 P-cores will include Hyper-Threading for a total of 24 threads of CPU power.

An integrated Xe GPU is included, with 96 EUs (or is that Xe-cores, now) so expect some decent performance out of the integrated GPU.

Intel has now better detailed its upcoming ARC series GPUs, with its gaming-focused ARC Alchemist DG2 GPU confirmed to rock the next-gen DisplayPort 2.0 standard.

Intel's first-gen ARC graphics cards are codenamed "Alchemist" and will support DisplayPort 2.0, which supports some insane resolutions and refresh rates: we're talking up to 4K 240Hz and 8K 120Hz. The current HDMI 2.1 standard which was only supported by AMD's new RDNA 2 and NVIDIA's new Ampere GPU architectures, supports only 4K 144Hz and 8K 60Hz maximum.

The news of DisplayPort 2.0 support comes from something Phoronix spotted, with the DG2 GPU family of cards mentioned in patch notes for the i915 kernel display driver. This isn't instant DP2.0 support, but rather that engineers are working on it right now -- and that when Intel's new ARC Alchemist launches, the cards will have support for the new DisplayPort 2.0 standard.

Intel hired Jim Keller, the mastermind behind AMD's return-to-form Zen CPU architecture, leaving AMD for Tesla and then Tesla for Intel, and then Intel for something new. In that time at Intel, it appears Keller designed the Royal Core Project -- this is the architecture that moves past Core, the largest upgrade in CPU architectures for Intel... ever.

We now have Google whistleblower Zach Vorhies explain how the Big Tech search giant "re-wrote their news algorithms to specifically go after Trump", something he reveals in his new book Google Leaks: A Whistleblower's Expose of Big Tech Censorship, and during an interview with the Epoch Times. In the interview, Vorhies shows he has internal Google documents that shows how the company ranks news stories.

Vorhies explains: "This is called realtime, hive-mind scoring. They literally built it, they re-wrote it according to the fight that Trump was having with [James] Comey".

Intel has just wrapped up its exciting new Architecture Day 2021 event, with details on their future CPUs and GPUs in the oven right now -- but Tom over at Moore's Law is Dead has decided to drop a new video leaking out some new future Intel goodies.

We're finding out details on Intel's new Emerald Rapids CPU architecture, which will succeed the upcoming Sapphire Rapids CPU architecture. Intel's next-gen Emerald Rapids would launch with up to 64 cores at up to a whopping 350W and it'll be made on Intel's upcoming Intel 7 node.

But more surprisingly, Emerald Lake would roll out with an insane 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes and support for DDR5-5600 memory. 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes just sounds out-of-this-world to me, or anyone right now, as you're running out of PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0 lanes on a consumer motherboard once you have a x16 graphics card and anything else that requires PCIe lanes (think NVMe M.2 SSDs, etc).

Intel has revealed its ARC series GPU roadmap with details on its upcoming discrete graphics card codenames, which will all fall under their ARC branding.

The first of which will be the Intel ARC Alchemist, with Alchemist being the codename for Intel's first-gen Xe-HPG graphics architecture. We should expect to see Intel announce the card as the Intel ARC 1000 for example, like we have with the GeForce RTX 3000 series GPUs.

Think of Intel and its "Alchemist" GPU codename, as we know AMD and its "Navi" and NVIDIA and its "Ampere" GPU architecture codenames. We did know Intel's upcoming GPUs as Xe2 HPG -- which will be Battlemage, Xe3 HPG is now Celestial, and finally, Xe Next is the exciting future Druid architecture.

Intel has provided some more juicy details on its upcoming ARC Alchemist GPU during its recent Intel Architecture Day 2021 event, as well as a roadmap of things to come in their newly-announced ARC series of discrete graphics cards.

Intel will launch its first GPU in Q1 2022 with the Xe HPG "Alchemist" and it will be made on TSMC's 6nm FinFET (N6) process, we heard about that a while ago, but now Intel has confirmed that Alchemist is being made on TSMC 6nm.

Out with the old, and in with the new -- Intel has done away with Execution Units in its ARC Alchemist GPU, with the introduction of Xe-core. Xe-core has 16 Vector Engines (which used to be called an Execution Unit, or EU) as well as 16 Matrix Engines (XMX, or Xe Matrix eXtension) which is giving me some hella Intel MMX vibes.

We don't know how much the game will take up on PS4 or PS5 because for some strange reason Sony has removed all size requirements in PS Store listings (Battle.net also doesn't confirm install sizes).

Today Bethesda announced a new upgraded version of the classic 90s shooter Quake. It's not a remake or a reboot, but more of a remastering of the original game with updated 4K graphics and streamlined performance on all platforms. For the first time since the SEGA Saturn days, Quake is coming to consoles.

The goal here is to get a unified and modernized version of Quake simultaneously running on consoles and PC. The game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, complete with online multiplayer and crossplay. There's dedicated servers for online multiplayer but custom matches are limited to peer-to-peer networking.

Fallout 76's latest bug is eating into the game's revenues and economy. Fallout 76 players are reporting they've randomly received tens of thousands of extra atoms that they didn't pay for. Some say the atom deposits range in 50,000 or more, which is a hefty sum. Real-money conversion is $1 per 100 atoms, which means players received around $500 in free in-game currency.

Bethesda is warning players not to spend these "free" atoms. There's a chance your account could be flagged and could result in a ban from the game or even revocation of services like PlayStation Plus or Xbox LIVE.

Iron Gate Studios' procedurally-generated exploration game Valheim has sold over 8 million units in just half a year, which is more than some games sell in their entire lifetimes. "Valheim has now sold over 8 million copies since its release and 1.1 million copies during the quarter which is in line with management expectations," the Embracer Group announced.

The news of the lead engineer for Blue Origin's lunar lander leaving to join SpaceX comes after Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin had its protest denied by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) to overturn NASA's decision to award a $2.9 billion contract to Elon Musk's SpaceX for the construction of a new lunar lander. The lead engineer is named Nitin Arora and announced his transition to SpaceX via a LinkedIn post, where he said, "Friday (August 13th) was my last day at Blue Origin."

Adding, "It was one hell of a ride working on the lunar program. Really honored that I got a chance to work with and lead incredibly smart, passionate people over last three years ... Next stop, SpaceX!" After the decision the GAO made, Blue Origin has been swinging at SpaceX's proposed plan to get humans back on the moon by posting infographics that compare its own methods to SpaceX's. This weekend an asteroid that NASA deems as potentially dangerous will make an approach relatively close to Earth.

On August 21 at around 11:10 a.m EDT, the asteroid named 2016 AJ193 that is estimated to be approximately 4,500 feet in diameter, will fly past Earth at more than 58,000 miles per hour. NASA has classified the asteroid as potentially hazardous. However, the asteroid will actually pass by Earth at around nine times the distance between Earth and the moon.

NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) has classified more than 27,000 near-Earth asteroids, as of August 15. CNEOS says that around 1,000 of these near-Earth asteroids are larger than 3,280 in diameter. As for 2016 AJ193, its orbit calculates to a fly-by Earth around every six years. CNEOS states on its website that "the threat to any one person from auto accidents, disease, other natural disasters and a variety of other problems is much higher than the threat from NEOs (Near Earth Objects)."

Due to Earth's position in the Milky Way galaxy, researchers have a difficult time discovering new things about the galaxy, but that doesn't mean it never happens. According to a new study published by NASA, the Milky Way galaxy is a spiral galaxy, and one of its spiral arms has a "break" in it, much like a splinter protruding from a piece of wood.

NASA researchers used data acquired from the European Space Agency's Gaia mission and found that the broken arm spans around 3,000 light-years. The location of the break in the spiral arm contains some of our galaxy's most incredible spectacles, such as the Pillars of Creation, Omega, Lagoon, and Trifid nebulae. In 79 A.D, the Roman city of Pompeii was covered in volcanic ash, and the air was polluted with toxic gas as the neighboring volcano Mount Vesuvius erupted. The entire city was buried under ash from the eruption, preserving many parts of it for thousands of years. Now, archaeologists have turned it into a large archaeological site. According to reports, one recently conducted dig uncovered human remains from inside a tomb within the Porta Sarno necropolis.

The preserved human was a man named Marcus Venerius Secundio, and his skeleton was clearly in remarkable shape as the skull still has some strands of white hair as well as an intact ear. The location of where the tomb was found holds significance as it was in what was once considered a prestigious part of the city, the main eastern entrance.

Researchers are getting better and better at spotting exoplanets, and now according to Brazilian researchers, an instrument is on the verge of discovering an Earth "twin".

The study was published in the Astronomical Journal and explored how a new spectrograph called Espresso that was installed Very Large Telescope located in Chile could discover exoplanets that have a similar mass to Earth and are orbiting a star similar to how Earth is orbiting the Sun. The group of researchers observed a star named HIP 11915 for 60 nights. The star is located 175 light-years from Earth, and the reason the researchers chose this star is because it has a planet that is analogous to Jupiter.

The researchers were able to acquire reliable measurements of the radial velocity. However, to confirm their findings, the researchers need to observe the exoplanet complete one full orbit around its local star. By measuring the radio velocity of exoplanets, researchers are able to determine the inclination of the planet's orbit around its local star, which then allows them to determine the mass of the planet.

However, this space event isn't just for one night, as Jupiter will be clearly visible in the night sky for the remainder of August.

It's recommended that if you have an old telescope to laying around to take this opportunity to check out the largest planet in our solar system. As AccuWeather reports, most telescopes are powerful enough to be able to show Jupiters four largest moons; Europa, Io, Ganymede, and Callisto. Around 2 billion years ago, a massive meteor struck South Africa, causing what is now known as the Vredefort impact crater, the largest impact structure on Earth.

Researchers who are interested in discovering more about the impact crater and the meteor that caused it have found impact ejecta, which are sediments that were launched from the impact zone, around 120 miles to the west of the crater. The researchers managed to find sediments dated between 1.9 billion to 2.2 billion years old. The sediments had telltale signs of experiencing either a volcanic eruption or a meteorite impact.

Elmar Buchner, a geologist at the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences in Neu-Ulm, Germany, who wasn't involved in the study, said "There's no doubt that it is impact ejecta" and that the features found in the sample are "unequivocal evidence" of impact material. Matthew S. Huber, a geologist at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa, and lead researcher on the study, said, "These grains were subjected to a shock wave."
