Peter Molyneux is back with a blockchain sim game with NFTs, crypto
Peter Molyneux is back with a new game that cashes in on the emerging blockchain, NFT, and cryptocurrency craze.
Peter Molyneux, the game developer of the Fable series who became so infamous that he declared "I haven't got a reputation in this industry any more," has revealed his new game Legacy to the world. The game with its seemingly ironic name is a business simulator where players buy land, start a business, create factories, and sell products to other players in a theoretical bustling economy.
All of these things will apparently be bought and sold with LegacyCoin, the in-game cryptocurrency based on the Ethereum blockchain that serves as the play-to-earn impetus of the entire operation. Players will first buy LegacyCoin with money or other crypto, then buy a land NFT to start a business. Land is currently unavailable for sale right now but is based on real-world locations in the United Kingdom, including London.

Halo dev Certain Affinity is making the world's first play-to-earn FPS
Certain Affinity's new original IP The Last Expedition is a blockchain-based game with play-to-earn mechanics.
After years of pitches, Certain Affinity has finally found a publisher for its new shooter. Gala Games, a company known for blockchain games powered by in-game cryptocurrencies and NFTs, will publish the game. The Last Expedition is described as an "ambitious original title" centered around survival co-op FPS action, complete with a dark and brooding H.R. Giger sci-fi style.
"The world's first play-to-earn FPS will pit players against a hostile alien world, challenging their skill, focus and resourcefulness like never before while empowering them through the true asset ownership that only blockchain can provide," reads the game's website.

Matrix Resurrections star Keanu Reeves LOLs at NFTs, HODLs his crypto
Keanu Reeves is HODLing his cryptocurrency, something we know after he was interviewed by The Verge along with The Matrix Resurrections co-star Carrie-Anne Moss.
Keanu was asked if he heard about the Matrix NFT that was done for The Matrix Resurrections, where there were 100,000 NFTs made for the new movie and the website broke in a couple of hours with 300,000+ people waiting in the queue to get their exclusive Matrix NFT for $50.
The Matrix NFT didn't involve Keanu or Carrie-Anne, so they don't get a cut of the Matrix NFT at all. The Verge asked Keanu: "so when you think about the concept of digital scarcity and things that are -- and you know -- they can't be copied". Keanu replies quickly, saying: "that are easily reproduced, hee hee, hee hee, heeeee". Literally, Keanu Reeves said "hee hee, hee hee, heeeee" and it was freaking beautiful.

Keanu Reeves wants you to know: Facebook didn't invent the metaverse
Keanu Reeves really, really doesn't want Facebook (or Meta now) to think it was the creator of the metaverse... The Matrix Resurrections star made some big comments about the metaverse, and Facebook (sorry, again... Meta) and their role in creating the future.
When asked about the metaverse by The Verge in their interview with The Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, Keanu said: "can we just not have metaverse be invented by Facebook".
He was asked by The Verge "you're not a fan?" to which Keanu replied: "No, but just the concept of metaverse is like way older than that. It's like a way older, and so for that moment to get to... I'm just like, 'Come on, man'".

Keanu Reeves on using his VR headsets: they're 5 years old, and lame
Keanu Reeves is a major character in Cyberpunk 2077, which is all about the future: technology, implants, future vehicles and cars, VR, AR, and everything in between.
But does Keanu Reeves have a VR headset? Yep. Does he use it? Nope. In a recent interview between The Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, Reeves talked about VR headsets, VR for the world, and even VR porn. The part you need to watch begins at around 16:04 into the video.
The Verge asked if Keanu had a VR headset, to which Reeves said: "I do, and I don't. I know that any VR technology that I'm using is 5 years old and lame. I'm sorry, never used to be lame, it's probably now modernly lame, but there's so much kinda data collection tools that are in these experiences to help make the product better".

The Matrix Awakens on PS5 looks better than The Matrix Reloaded
eriously, the team at Eurogamer don't sleep and they're powered by a quantum computer, artificial intelligence, Project Looking Glass technology, and they're probably part of the Q team.
Anyway, the team of DF Direct comprising of Alex Battaglia, John Linneman, and Rich Leadbetter go into a deep dive of the Unreal Engine 5-powered masterpiece "The Matrix Awakens". If you don't know what The Matrix Awakens is, it is a next-gen console exclusive -- so PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles only -- and has the very best real-time graphics... ever.
The Matrix Awakens was made with a team of just 20 to 30 people that were handling assets, while there were around 50 to 70 people total. In the end, there were around 200 people helping out in the Slack channel with marketing and other things to do with the experience, but it wasn't a huge team nor did they have AAA game budgets to play with... what they did have were assets from the Matrix movies, and Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5 technology.

Keanu Reeves deep dives into VR porn future: porn suits on metaverse X
Keanu Reeves is famously in Cyberpunk 2077 and was asked during his recent sit down with The Verge if he played video games, to which he said no... he does own a VR headset, but doesn't use it, but is very interested in the world of VR porn.
The discussion got there as he was asked about the fact that online, gamers wanted to be able to have sex with Keanu Reeves' character in Cyberpunk 2077, but developer CD PROJEKT RED couldn't do that because it would be breaching Reeves' contract. You can watch the VR porn part of the video at the 16:50 mark.
But Keanu's thoughts on it were: "Oh my God, it's always nice when it's nice. Think of how much money is in porn, right? So you could not even have to be there, and people could have digital sex with your digital avatar. What's that, what's it called right now (probably referring to OnlyFans)? For a members-only you could do a whole thing".

Keanu Reeves says 'it's ridiculous' that there isn't a new Matrix game
If you remember when the two Matrix sequels came out -- The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions -- they were joined by the tie-in game "Enter the Matrix". It was a pile of shit, so if you didn't play it, don't worry -- go play Max Payne and Max Payne 2 instead. There was also The Matrix Online (MxO) which came out in 2005, as a not-so-successful MMORPG.
Anyway, during a recent interview between The Verge and Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, Neo, and Trinity were asked about their thoughts on why there isn't a new Matrix game. You can jump into the interview, with the part about the Matrix game starting at 11:06 into the video.
There was a leak of the experience on like the PlayStation server, and it got a lot of attention that there was this Matrix experience happening that you guys (Keanu and Carrie-Anne) were in. And "I was looking at the Reddit thread where it was posted, and everyone was just saying, 'I want a Matrix video game, I want a modern-day re-imagining of the Matrix video games".

Intel GPU launch is a mess, partners aren't happy with mismanagement
We all knew it would be like this, but it seems like the Intel GPU launch is a mess... now that we're weeks away from the end of the year, and thus so very close to CES 2022 and we still know nothing about the launch of Intel's first graphics card in two decades.
Well, we do know a lot of stuff through leaks and not Intel directly... but the launch of Intel's new Arc Alchemist is a mess. Intel has confirmed it will be launching its GPUs in Q1 2022, but other than that there's nothing concrete. But according to Tom @ Moore's Law is Dead, mass production of Intel DG2 GPUs hasn't even started yet... and on top of that, pre-production (qualification) samples aren't shipping to AIB partners until January, over a month away.
Throw in the holidays, and then Chinese New Year...

Saints Row reboot has hoverboards, wingsuits, and even...super powers?
The new Saints Row reboot trailer from Volition confirms lots of new toys including wingsuits, hoverboards, tanks, experimental ships, and maybe even super powers.
The upcoming Saints Row reboot looks like tons of fun and has a very Watch Dogs 2-meets-GTA V vibe. The latest trailer shows a bunch of carnage-inducing vehicles and weapons that we'll use to wreak havoc in the open sandbox...and I personally can't wait to try them out.
The trailer is a whirling spectacle of ridiculousness that shows off the wingsuit (every game needs a wingsuit) and a bunch of land, sea, and air vehicles like helicopters, what appears to be an alien ship, ATVs, golf carts, superspeed muscle cars, jet skis, and even a hoverboard for old-school Back to the Future II action.

Google is bringing its Google Play mobile games to PC
Google wants to merge PC and mobile platforms together into one cohesive gaming ecosystem.
After it practically gave up on Stadia, its ambitious game streaming service, Google is now setting its sights closer to ground level. The tech giant plans to bring its Google Play Games platform to PC and allow mobile titles to be played on desktop and laptop computers.
The idea here is to allow seamless switching between PC and mobile devices. Gamers can start a game while commuting on a long bus ride and pick up right where they left off at home on their PC. This could be a transformative new ecosystem access point that keeps billions of consumers more cemented in Google's powerful ad-based network.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 to use INTERmission's co-op combat
Final Fantasy 7 Remake's second chapter may resemble the new combat structure from FF7R's INTERmission DLC.
Square Enix gives clues on what's coming next in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. Instead of releasing a massive three-disc remake, Square Enix has carved up the Remake into multiple parts. That means a multi-year development cycle, but Square Enix filled the gap with the INTERmission DLC. This connective tissue may actually inspire the new upgraded combat in FF7R part 2.
In a recent Epic Games Store interview, FF7R development leader Naoki Hamaguchi says he wants to use INTERmission's synergistic co-operative combat part of the next game.

Forspoken's combat is magic-only with 'no weapons whatsoever'
Square Enix's new game Forspoken is a lot like Final Fantasy XV...but there's no actual weapons.
Luminous Productions' new next-gen fantasy game Forspoken doesn't have any weapons. In a recent PlayStation Blog post, the developers confirm Forspoken's combat is 100% magic-only, saying that "the battles in Forspoken are all about magic and don't rely on weaponry whatsoever."
Instead players will rely heavily on a myriad of magical abilities that range from stealth cloaking to destructive elemental spells and AOE attacks, and even physics-breaking spells like levitation.

Scorn delayed to October 2022, right in time for Halloween
Scorn is set to release four years after it was originally revealed in 2017, developer Ebb Software has announced.
Scorn has been MIA for a while but now it's back in the limelight...and the news isn't so great. The exotically weird horror FPS has been delayed for the fourth time and is now set to launch in October 2022. That's right in time for Halloween.
The shooter is set to deliver higher-end atmospheric effects, UHD textures, and FPS action while hitting 4K 60FPS performance on Xbox and PC. Scorn is also exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S line and won't be coming to the Xbox One.

Loss of water on Mars may be due to more factors than first thought
Erdal Yigit of the George Mason University has published a recent paper in the journal Science, suggesting loss of surface water on Mars is due to more than just solar wind inter
The paper suggests three other factors to consider: gravity waves, convection, and dust storms. Planetary scientists have concluded that Mars' surface used to have lots of water, but it was slowly lost to space as hydrogen over billions of years.
Some prior research suggests that sunlight through the lower Martian atmosphere separated water molecules, leading to hydrogen dissipating away into space. Yigit has suggested there is insufficient evidence for such a straightforward answer.

Advanced catalysts developed to aid clean hydrogen production
Researchers from the Oregon State University (OSU) have shown potential for new catalysts to help cleanly produce hydrogen with greater efficiency and lower cost than currently available catalysts.
Electrochemical catalytic processes like water electrolysis can produce hydrogen more cleanly and more sustainably than other processes such as methane-steam reforming, which produces carbon dioxide as a byproduct.
In this latest study, researchers have produced a new catalyst to facilitate hydrogen production. Catalysts are substances that increase the rate of chemical reactions without themselves undergoing any permanent chemical change. However, catalysts often undergo structural changes, whether reversible or irreversible, that can lead to a loss of catalytic activity and a subsequent reduction in reaction efficiency.

Potential nuclear waste recycling method found with new compounds
Using heavy elements, researchers from Florida State University have discovered the potential for a new family of chemical compounds.
Ligands are molecule groups that bind to others to form more complex compounds with metals. The researchers discovered unexpected results when designing ligands from molecules typically used in solar cell technologies and bonding them with radioactive elements. Pairing the ligand with berkelium, the 97th element on the periodic table, shifted the electron density of the compound significantly.
