NASA's now 32-year-old Hubble Space Telescope has been snapping photographs of the asteroid NASA recently collided its Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft into.

The new set of images has been released on NASA's social channels as well as its blog, where the space agency explains that Hubble has conducted repeated observations of the target asteroid Dimorphos over the last couple of weeks, and with these observations, researchers have been able to present a much more accurate picture of the debris caused by DART's impact. According to NASA, Hubble's observations showcase the debris declining in brightness and expanding out deeper into space, which was expected.

After the initial impact, Hubble has made eighteen observations of DART's aftermath, and from those observations, researchers identified something unexpected - a twin tail that formed between October 2 and October 8. NASA explains that the twin tail is made of ejected material following DART's impact and that similar behavior is iconic for active comets and asteroids, which Dimorphos is neither of. The space agency writes that the relationship between the comet-like tail and other features post-DART impact is still unknown and that teams are currently working on this to understand how the second tail formed.

German automaker Audi will work with Krajete, a company specializing in green technology, in an effort to filter CO2 out of ambient air. The modular design of the filtration unit ensures it can be expanded and is suitable for long-term scaling based on the facility's needs.

Both companies are working together at a plant in Austria, with an inorganic filter material used to help maximize the effectiveness of direct air capturing (DAC) technologies. The ambient air to be filtered typically doesn't need to undergo a pre-dry process, which greatly improves efficiency while reducing costs.

The Austrian plant can filter 500 tons of CO2 per year, though researchers plan to add another module before the end of the year - and that will drastically increase processing capabilities up to 1,000 tons of CO2 per year. The cost of sequestration is kept under control because both companies were able to identify an optimal flow rate - so the process runs at ambient pressure before the absorber materials and physical conditions were carefully monitored.

Elon Musk is currently wrapping up his deal to purchase the world's second-largest social media company, Twitter.

According to internal documents obtained by The Washington Post, Elon Musk has big plans for Twitter once the acquisition is finalized and he officially owns the company, with one of the first moves being to remove at least 75% of Twitter's staff at the company which equates to a staggering 7,500 employees.

The Post reports that even if Musk doesn't fulfill the purchase of Twitter for whatever reason, at least a quarter of Twitter's employees would still be getting the sack as current management plans to reduce the company's payroll by approximately $800 million by 2023.

Automakers are scrambling to build new factories focused specifically on electric vehicle production, or trying to retool current assembly lines. The United Auto Workers (UAW) union is adapting to changing times as the big three Detroit automakers expand their efforts towards electric, with battery plants and production facilities spreading across the midwest.

GM auto workers started learning about EV manufacturing starting in 2015, with some employees training in South Korea. Although EV assembly closely mimics some gas-powered cars, including the installation of doors, brakes, tires, and seats - the lithium-ion battery that powers the engine and transmission powertrain comes with a bit of a learning curve.

Automakers from around the world are working to transition from internal combustion engines towards electric vehicles, though it's not the only alternative available. BMW believes hydrogen fuel technology will find its place in the marketplace, despite the EV trend fully underway.

As noted by Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Management Board at BMW, in a recent interview in England: "After the electric car, which has been going on for about 10 years and scaling up rapidly, the next trend will be hydrogen. When it's more scalable, hydrogen will be the hippest thing to drive."

EVs require a complex charging network, but hydrogen can be delivered from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic tanks able to supply fuel cells. "You could argue, well you also don't have access to hydrogen infrastructure, but this is very simple to do: It's a tank which you put in there like an old [gas] tank, and you recharge it every six months or 12 months," Zipse added.

South Korean automaker Hyundai will promote its eco-friendly fleet vehicles at the FIFA World Cup 2022 next month, as FIFA aims to go carbon neutral. The FIFA World Cup 2022 is scheduled to take place starting on November 20 and ending on December 18.

Hyundai's hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will be on hand alongside electric city buses. The automaker will also provide EV chargers and fleet services on-site, so vehicles are always fully charged and ready to go. There will be a total of 616 fleet vehicles available for use during the event in late November - 446 passenger vehicles and 10 electric buses, according to Hyundai.

The eco-friendly vehicles will be responsible for around half of transportation during the event.

BMW will invest $1.7 billion into its US operations, with a heavy focus on building electric vehicles in the United States.

A total of $1 billion will be invested towards EV production at Plant Spartanburg, while the remaining $700 million going toward a high-voltage battery assembly facility. The German automaker plans to use its Plant Spartanburg facility in South Carolina as the main hub to manufacture at least six fully electric BMW X models by 2030.

The hybrid-electric BMW XM is expected to begin at Plant Spartanburg later this year. Meanwhile, the company also produces the X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and four BMW M models at the South Carolina factory.

We are certainly hearing a lot about a graphics card NVIDIA doesn't seem happy to talk about, with early rumors from quite a while ago now teasing a 900W power limit on a next-gen AD102-based GPU.

But now... not we have some photos from Chiphell of an insane quad-slot cooler that would've kept the monster graphics card cool. A post on Chiphell shows the quad-slot cooler that would keep up to 900W of power cooled, with a bunch of X-shaped frames sitting in a factory somewhere pictured.

GMC has introduced the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, the automaker's first Sierra electric vehicle, as EV trucks continue to gain traction.

GMC hopes its customers will fully embrace the technology, capability, and luxury that the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will have to offer. The truck has a 400-mile range on a full charge, with public fast charging capacity of up to 350 kW - so 100 miles of range capacity is available after just 10 minutes of charging.

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 has a dual motor powertrain to support 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque when driven in Max Power mode. Up to 9,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity is available. The car has a 0-60 mph acceleration time of fewer than 4.5 seconds.

Final Fantasy XVI is practically done and the team is currently making significant progress in finalizing the game for its Summer 2023 launch.

Today Square Enix's Dev III team confirmed that Final Fantasy XVI's development has entered the "home stretch" and the core workforce is now focusing on bug fixes and finishing touches. The game hasn't gone gold yet (meaning it's not totally done) but it is on target for a mid-2023 release on PlayStation 5.

"With regards to development, the team has turned the corner and entered the home stretch, and is currently concentration its efforts on debugging, tweaking, polishing, and optimization," game producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida said in a recent update.

Bungie will reportedly help fill out PlayStation's growing live service plans with a new Tarkov-like extraction shooter set in its classic Marathon universe.

Back in 1994, way before Halo, Bungie got its start in first-person shooters with a PC game called Marathon. The franchise had assembling the building blocks for the Halo franchise and Bungie had often paid homage to Marathon in the Halo games. Now it appears Marathon is coming back.

According to reports from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, Bungie plans to revive the Marathon series as a squad-based extraction shooter. The project is expected to be a live game where 3-player squads all compete and vie for control over resources and loot in an expansive space, collecting as much intel and loot as possible before being extracted.

Bethesda is celebrating Fallout's 25th anniversary with unique retrospectives on the franchise's history, and recollects what it was like to show Fallout 3 to the franchise's original creator Tim Cain.

Back in 2007, Bethesda Softworks bought the Fallout franchise from Interplay for $5.75 million, a paltry sum for what is now assuredly a billion-dollar series. The studio had been knee-deep in development on Fallout 3, which would bring Fallout to the 3D world for the first time ever. A year later Fallout 3 was finished, and Bethesda wanted to know what the original Fallout creators thought of their creation...so they invited Tim Cain to a premiere of the game. Everyone at Bethesda was sweating bullets, nervous about Cain's response and wanting approval for their direction of the series.

"I remember this very vividly, sitting at a table asking Tim Cain what he thought of the demo that we just saw...and the whole time you're just crossing fingers and toes like 'oh please, don't hate it!" Bethesda's Pete Hines said with emphatic emotion, as per usual from Uncle Pete.

PlatinumGames tried earnestly to hire Bayonetta actress Hellena Taylor for the third game, and offered to pay her at least $15,000 in compensation, sources have told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.

Days ago, Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor published a series of videos that revealed why she was not voicing the heroine witch in the third game. Taylor's videos were emotionally charged, with accusations that PlatinumGames and Nintendo had offered an "immoral" and "lowball" pay offer of $4,000 to voice Bayonetta for the entire game.

Taylor's videos kicked off widespread controversy and garnered significant buzz with many industry figures weighing in, especially as the actress claimed she had suffered mental distress from worries about pay. Now reports indicate that PlatinumGames very much wanted Taylor to reprise her role in the game, and offered to book five sessions at a rate of at least $3,000 and up to $4,000 per session. As per documents seen by Bloomberg, Hellena Taylor would have been paid at least $15,000 to voice Bayonetta in the entire game.
