Samsung's Galaxy S23 Ultra tipped for a free photography upgrade
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra already has the best camera setup of any Samsung phone - and possibly any mainstream Android phone - available to buy today. But it's about to get even better according to a new leak by a normally well-connected Twitter account.
That leak claims that Samsung is already working on a new version of the Galaxy S23 Ultra's software and that it improved photography once installed. Specifically, we're told that photos taken at night are better than before, which sure does sound like a good thing to us.
The news comes via Twitter leaker Ice universe who says that they have seen what the WD3 Galaxy S23 Ultra software can do. And that's perhaps the best thing about phones having such great cameras - they continue to be improved upon as new software is released and owners of the phones get better cameras and better photos for free.

Samsung's best phone just got the Galaxy S23 Ultra's best feature for free
Samsung has today given the Galaxy Z Fold 4 a hot new photography feature that will make it even better at taking photos of the night sky.
The feature, called astrophotography mode, comes from the very top of Samsung's phone lineup in the shape of the Galaxy S23 series of phones. It allows devices to take detailed photos of the night sky in a way that isn't normally possible all while creating some truly impressive images. Now, that same feature is available to Galaxy Z Fold 4 owners.
Samsung had previously said that it intended to roll the feature out to people who owned non-Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 devices and now it's made good on that promise. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 isn't the only model that's in on the act either, with the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra all also able to enjoy the new astrophotography capabilities. All of the Galaxy Z Fold phones except the very first will also get the same feature, as will the Galaxy S21 which means there are plenty of phones out there that can now take some stunning photos of the moon.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 just leaked in these stunning renders
There's so much news relating to foldable phones right now you could absolutely be forgiven for losing track of what's going on and with which phone. But the latest leak relating to Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 is well worth paying attention to because it might be our first proper look at what the phone will look like. And if this is the real deal, it's going to look pretty stunning.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 isn't expected to launch for a few months yet but it's started to leak in various different ways. This new set of renders from OnLeaks and Media Peanut shows us a black Galaxy Z Flip 5 in all its glory, with both the internal display and the new, larger external one available for us to gawk at.
It's that external display that is sure to capture the attention of a whole lot of people because it's massive compared to the one that we've seen on previous Galaxy flip phones. It now appears to take up almost half of the entire face of the phone which is a big improvement.

New iOS 17 renders show off app changes and more
Apple is very much expected to announce the iOS 17 software update in June and now a new series of renders has shown us what we could perhaps expect when that happens.
We've already been told by various leaks to expect some changes to a number of key apps when iOS 17 rolls around, but these new renders show those changes in action. Specifically, those render show changes to the wallpapers, the Health app, and the Wallet app.
It is, however, important to consider the source of these leaks. They're from Twitter user @analyst941 who has been sharing various tidbits online in recent weeks. The leaker doesn't have a huge track record from which to draw a conclusion, although they did previously share details about the iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island before it was officially unveiled. Keep that in mind, but also remember that we have yet to have any of this confirmed by Apple.

The Pixel 7a unboxing photos are here
You'd need to have been hiding under a rock or living in a very remote corner of an even more remote country to have missed the fact that Google is getting ready to announce some new hardware. One of those bits of hardware is the budget-friendly Pixel 6a, and now a new series of unboxing videos has leaked ahead of the official unveiling.
That official unveiling is expected to happen during the May 10 Google I/O opening keynote but you don't have to wait that long to see what Google has cooked up. Now, a new set of photos shared by the Twitter leaker SnoopyTech shows the Pixel 7a being unboxed in a couple of different colors.
The two colors leaked here are black and a very pale blue, and while there is still some argument over what the proper marketing names for these two colors will be, there can be no disagreement over the fact that they look pretty great.

New Pixel Fold leak shows the foldable like never before
The Google Pixel Fold is coming, that's absolutely something that we can take for granted at this point. The phone has already leaked over and over and now we're seeing even more images of the as-yet-unannounced foldable phone.
These latest images appear to be the closest thing to a press render that we've seen to date and they show a Pixel Fold in what appears to be a black color that we imagine will be called Charcoal. It isn't the most imaginative color, that's true. But it's probably the one that the majority of people will find themselves walking around with.
The images were shared to Twitter by the leaker Evan Blass and are behind a locked account, so you might not be able to see the tweets themselves. But they're there, and we've shared the images here so you can get a good eyeful of what's coming.

First Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders are here and they're stunners
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 hasn't been around all that long but the world has already turned its attention to what comes next. What comes next is the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and we've now been treated to the first real renders of the unannounced device.
Those renders come via leaker @OnLeaks and SmartPrix which published them today. And while the renders might not be anything close to outlandish, they do show us a phone that looks different from the current model in a couple of ways.
What the renders do appear to show is that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be quite a bit thinner than the phone that it will replace. When closed, the phone is expected to measure 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm, a fair bit thinner than the 15.8mm of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

101 million Europeans used the iPhone App Store but what about its other stores?
Each year Apple is required by European law to share details about its online platforms including the App Store, its Podcasts app, and more. That includes how many people are using those platforms and the latest figures make for some interesting reading.
Apple made those figures available this week, with the company saying that the numbers are the monthly averages for the six months to 31 January 2023. We get to see how many people in Europe are using the App Store on a number of devices while some of Apple's lesser-known services are also detailed as well. Who remembered Apple Books was a thing, by the way?
Let's dive into what these numbers show. Because they're pretty interesting.
Astropad Studio fixes the biggest problem with connecting iPads to Macs
If you're an Astropad Studio users you're probably going to be in for a very good time thanks to a new version 5.3 software update.
Atropad Studio is effectively an app that allows an iPad to be connected to a compatible Mac and then act as a giant graphics tablet of sorts. It's always worked pretty well but this new update makes things even better.
This new update brings with it a couple of new features, the first of which is support for direct peer-to-peer connections between the iPad and Mac, making for a more solid connection between the two. That ensures that there are fewer chances for the Wi-Fi router and network to get in the way by removing them from the equation entirely. That should also ensure for reduced latency which is a big deal when you're drawing.
iPad Pro for 2024 rumored to feature an OLED display alongside the new M3 chip
Many have been wondering when Apple might go all in on OLED displays for its devices, and based on word from well-known leakers, it looks like 2024 will be the year. And with that, next year will see the first iPad and MacBook models launch with OLED displays - though the adoption won't be universal.
Reports, including a new one from Twitter leaker @Tech_Reve, point to the iPad Pro for 2024 featuring an OLED panel though the Mini 7 will continue to use LCD technology for its display. It makes sense, as OLED displays do command a premium price.
OLED displays benefit from richer colors and near-infinite contrast thanks to self-lit pixels - where the whole "deeper black levels" reputation comes from. OLED is generally considered the ideal choice for designers and enthusiasts who want the best image clarity. Undoubtedly, this would make the new iPad Pro models (11-inch and 12.9-inch models will sport the new OLED display) a great choice for on-the-go video editors and photographers.
The Pixel Tablet's price is unknown, but its charging dock isn't cheap
With Google almost nailed-on to announce the Pixel Tablet at its Google I/O event on May 10 we're starting to see more leaks as time ticks on. We'd previously been told that the tablet would likely to be announced in May but not released until June and now we have some news in relation to the tablet's charging dock.
That charging dock is now expected to ship in the box with the Pixel Tablet no matter which storage configuration you choose we're now also finding out how much that dock will cost if you want to pick up another one for whatever reason. And it isn't going to be cheap.
The dock itself can wirelessly charge the Pixel Tablet and it holds the tablet in place using magnets. The dock also has a speaker built in which effectively turns the docked Pixel Tablet into a sort of big-screen smart home speaker. That's probably why Google is shipping one in the box, but what if you want to put another one in another room?

The iPhone 15 wasn't always going to have a USB-C port
At this point it's no secret that Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 15 lineup in September 2023 and that the phones are all expected to use USB-C charting ports, a first for the iPhone. But a new report suggests that wasn't always the plan. At least originally, the iPhone 15 was going to have a Lightning port like all previous models.
That report says that all of the plans and designs for the iPhone 15 since around March 2022 have sported USB-C ports, suggesting that's when Apple made the decision to finally ditch Lightning in favor of something a little more universal.
This leak comes via a Twitter leaker who has previously been able to share details about the iPhone in the past, suggesting that they may have a contact inside Apple. However, as with all leaks like this, it's important to remember that there are no guarantee that this one is on the money.

Google's Pixel Fold detailed as launch window all but confirmed
The foldable market is about to get one more player with Google about to enter the fray. It'll do that with the much-rumored Pixel Fold, a phone that is now expected to be announced in May and then go on sale in June.
We'd already been told by leaker Jon Prosser those particular details, with June 27 the big date for when the phone will be available. It's also thought to go up for pre-order on Google's website on May 10 and then with partners and carriers on May 30. Now, another report appears to back that up while sharing some specifications as well.
This latest report comes via CNBC and Jennifer Elias who claims to have seen internal communications that confirm the plans to announce the Pixel Fold at Google I/O on May 10. The report goes on to say that the phone will have the most durable hinge of all the available foldable while costing around $1700. That's around the same price as Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4 and sits right at where Prosser had also suggested as well.

Google's Pixel 7a won't mean the death of the Pixel 6a, report claims
With Google now expected to announce the Pixel 7a at its Google I/O developer event on May 10 we're starting to see more rumors about what that will actually entail including what it will mean for the current Pixel 6a.
Normally, when Google releases a new version of the Pixel it immediately discontinues the current model. That's what happened with the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a, but a new report suggests that won't be the case this time around.
That's according to leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser who shared some details about the as-yet-unannounced mid-range phone. According to him, Google will not only announce the Pixel 7a during that May 10 event but it will also make it available to buy immediately following that event. There won't be any pre-order windows or anything, he says, which is worth noting if you're keen to pick yourself up a new phone.

Two new Motorola Razr foldable phones tipped for June Release
Motorola fans can look forward to not just one but two new foldable phones from the popular company, and they're both going to be announced fairly soon according to a new leak.
Set to be called the Motorola Razr Pro and Motorola Razr Lite, the two new phones will be announced in June according to leaker Max Jambor, with June 1 being the magic date according to that leak. The launch event will take place in Madrid, Spain while a launch in the United States is also likely in the cards for the same date.
The last Motorola Razr to be released in the United States came back in 2020 with the more recent model skipping the country entirely. That doesn't look set to be the case this time around however, with both the Razr Pro and Razr Lite now tipped for a launch in the country. That's good news for foldable fans who want to look to something other than the Samsung offerings with those buying in the U.S. sadly lacking in options.

Don't expect a mystery third Samsung foldable in 2023
There had been the od leak and suspicion that Samsung was getting ready to announce a mystery third foldable in 2023, but that now seems to be highly unlikely.
While it wasn't clear to anyone what that third foldable could be, there was the suggestion that Samsung was working on a tri-fold tablet of some sort that would turn a larger tablet into something more the size of a phone. There was a chance that the device could debut in 2023 but the lack of recent leaks suggests now. Now, the well-connected display analyst Ross Young has weighed in and it isn't good news.
Young was replying to a post on Twitter by leaker Max Jambor who suggested that while we'd seen more and more leaks of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, the third folding device was conspicuously absent from leaks. That, suggests Young, is because it isn't going to happen. At least, it won't happen in 2023.

Google's Pixel Fold release date and more leaked as launch nears
The Google Pixel Fold is set to be the next big thing not only from Google but also in the world of foldable as well. We'd been told by various leaks to expect that the bendy phone would debut at Google I/O on May 10. Now, another leak has confirmed not only when the phone will be announced but also when it'll go on sale.
Oh, and how much it'll cost as well. And it isn't great news, we're afraid.
This latest leak comes courtesy of leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser who has shared quite the leak bomb this time around. Normally known for his Apple leaks, Prosser seems to be growing into the Google and Android leaking world and this is a great example of that.

Apple's iOS 17 could finally blow the iPhone open for sideloading apps
With Apple set to announce the next version of the iPhone's mobile operating system, iOS 17, during an event on June 5, 2023, we might be set to see something pretty momentous. That's if, as we're told to expect, Apple will set the wheels in motion that will end the App Store's monopoly on app installs on the iPhone.
Currently, the only way to install an app on an iPhone is to do so via the App Store. But a new report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, writing as part of his weekly Power On newsletter, that's about to change.
According to Gurman Apple's iOS 17 is going to be a big one for developers. He says that the announcement will see Apple unveil work to allow sideloading on the iPhone in an attempt to comply with incoming European regulations.

2024 iPad Pro could use super-thin OLED tech from LG Display
The jury is still out on whether Apple will announce a new iPad Pro later in 2023, but the rumor mill is already moving beyond that and onto 2024. Now, a new report suggests that Apple will benefit from a new technology developed by LG Display that will allow for even better OLED displays.
Those OLED displays will likely be used in future 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models if previous reports are any indication.
This new report comes via Korea's The Elec website, with the news being that OLED panel technology developed by LG Display will allow for thinner displays and, as a result, thinner devices overall. It's also thought that the technology will allow for the overall cost of the panels to be lower which could potentially help Apple hit a price point for the tablets.

Hardware-wise, you've got some impressive specs with the 3.2 GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM, 512 GB storage (UFS 4.0), and a 165 Hz Samsung AMOLED display.
