Pour salt in a cup to RAGE quit Smash Bros./Overwatch/League

| Jul 3, 2019 1:00 AM CDT

Ever just wanted to rage quit the game you are playing not because you are sucking but because its obviously the games fault? You can now do it in style with this new salty controller mod.

Pour salt in a cup to RAGE quit Smash Bros./Overwatch/League

Insert Controller Here has taken the trolling to a new level with his brand new salty controller mod. This controller mod allows for the user to rage quit their game in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch and League of Legends by simply pouring salt into a cup of distilled water.

The cup has been modded with a micro controller, and when your pent up saltiness is added the water resistance is decreased and the controller detects a change in current between the two detecting nodes. Once this change is detected the corresponding command to quit the game is then relayed back to the console, then BOOM you are out of that toxic match. The cup supports quitting for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch and League of Legends. Happy pouring!

Cuphead's new Delicious Last Course DLC delayed to 2020

| Jul 2, 2019 5:31 PM CDT

Cuphead will deliver its next saucer full of deliciousness in 2020.

Cuphead's new Delicious Last Course DLC delayed to 2020

Today Studio MDHR confirmed Cuphead's new The Delicious Last Course expansion has been delayed into 2020. Originally slated to release in 2019, the new DLC promises to deliver meaty content for gamers to chew in by offering a brand new isle, new bosses, new weapons and abilities, and a new playable character named Ms. Chalice. Oh and there's a giant saltshaker baker's man, too.

The beloved indie charmers said the delay was in part to maintain a healthy work life. The original Cuphead required monumental crunch; Studio MDHR had to meticulously hand-draw every single character and sequence and meld them into the game. The result is one of the most visually appealing (if not rage-inducing) video games ever made.

Shenmue 3 backers can now get refunds over Epic exclusivity

| Jul 2, 2019 3:26 PM CDT

Shenmue 3 recently swapped from Steam to the Epic Games Store, and backers weren't happy. Now Ys Net is offering refunds to anyone who wants them.

Shenmue 3 backers can now get refunds over Epic exclusivity

Lots of games are pulling the old switcharoo to the Epic Store, especially Deep Silver titles (the most famous is Metro Exodus). The promise of keeping 85% of all game sale revenues is a big motivator, and was able to sway yet another anticipated release. Shenmue 3 was originally a Kickstarter project that promised a Steam key, and was launched before the Epic Store even existed. Then the project got an injection of cash from Deep Silver, who took the wheel as publisher. Now that Deep Silver is in control they've sided with the Epic Store over Steam.

Kickstarter backers aren't happy and kicked up a big fuss about having no say or control over the move. The project they backed is now a one-year timed-exclusive to a store platform they didn't necessarily want. To save face, Ys Net is now letting original backers opt out of the project altogether and get a full refund of their pledges, or switch to a PlayStation 4 copy.

New GTA 6 leaks are completely fake

| Jul 2, 2019 1:55 PM CDT

A bit ago some fantastic-sounding Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks popped up on Reddit, painting a huge continent-spanning scope for the sequel. Too bad it's not real.

New GTA 6 leaks are completely fake

If you thought the the recent GTA 6 leaks sounded too good to be true, that's because they are. The supposed leaked info pinpointed GTA 6 as Project Americas, a massive game centered around narcos drug kingpins in the late 70's and 80's. The game would connect North and South America and chronicle a bloody, cocaine-fueled crime trail across Vice City and a fictional Rio de Janeiro. But there's only one problem: it's not real.

The leaker claims sources at Kotaku and PC gamer gave him the info, but both publications disavow this. Kotaku's own Jason Schreier says the info is quite fake. Schreier is a well-known fountain of insider knowledge with an excellent track record. YouTuber LegacyKillaHD also chimes in, confirming the supposed leaker tried to pass off fake credentials like a blatantly phony LinkedIn profile to prove the veracity of their claims.

Real-time-strategy game fans are currently in the hot seat at the moment as one of the godfather titles of the genre is set to re-release, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

20 yrs later Age of Empires has 1 million players per month

As fans of the series gear up for the release of AoEII: DE, some questions were raised to how many gamers are still currently playing the series. In an interview with PCGames, Adam Isgreen, the creative lead for the series says that "We have over a million people a month playing Age of Empires games, and the numbers keep going up."

He continues and says "It can't just be nostalgia, right? There are new people coming into the franchise and playing it, and I think the interesting thing is that for a lot of RTS games, I think there is a pent-up demand - and the numbers seem to back this - for more 'thinking games,' the games that require you to plan and strategise and think." Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be rolled out sometime this fall of 2019.

Flappy Royale is Flappy Bird, now in battle royale - DUH

| Jul 1, 2019 10:33 PM CDT

You knew it was inevitable, and here it is -- Flappy Royale. The new Flappy Royale seems identical to the hit game Flappy Bird, but with the expected battle royale twist.

Flappy Royale is Flappy Bird, now in battle royale - DUH

Flappy Royale seems you flapping around against 99 other birds in it for the win, but there's no details on just how exactly Flappy Royale will work. We do know that the new twist on Flappy Royale is that it has new customization options, which includes hats and outfits... in... flappy... bird. Alrighty.

Flappy Royale was designed by Orta Therox and Em Lazer Walker, meaning it's not an official game in the Flappy Bird family -- so we could expect it to be removed, or renamed, or re-designed at any time. Best of all, you can try Flappy Royale out right here.

Cemu v1.15.10 runs Zelda: BotW at 4K 40-50FPS on GTX 1080

| Jul 1, 2019 8:36 PM CDT

The latest version of Cemu is out with version 1.15.10 out for Cemu Patrons, while the new version of the Wii U PC emulator dropping to the general public on July 5.

Cemu v1.15.10 runs Zelda: BotW at 4K 40-50FPS on GTX 1080

Cemu 1.15.10 packs improved performance for both Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the SNES Virtual Console, as well as the map screen in Twilight Princess HD. The new version of Cemu also includes a nifty auto updater that will be something of a convenience for those who are using Cemu a lot, but strangely this is only available for the public version and NOT the Patron-backed version of Cemu.

WCCFTech has run Cemu 1.15.10 with Zelda: Breath of the Wild with an Intel Core i5-7600K, 16GB RAM, and GeForce GTX 1080 at 4K hitting 40-50FPS easily. Not too bad at all, and it looks much better than it does on the Nintend Switch, that's for sure.

Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer confirmed by CD Projekt RED

| Jul 1, 2019 6:04 PM CDT

As we predicted years ago, Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a multiplayer mode of some kind.

Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer confirmed by CD Projekt RED

Today CD Projekt RED confirmed its massively ambitious new sci-fi RPG FPS will have an online multiplayer mode. The studio told Polish website Bankier that a multiplayer component is currently in development, and its new 40-person team in Wroclaw, Poland is working on the project.

It's possible Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer isn't attached to the base singleplayer project, and may be sold as a separate game entirely. It could even be a free-to-play spin-off. It's more likely that the mode will compliment singleplayer and require the base game, similar to GTA V and GTA Online.

CDPR making another Cyberpunk game after Cyberpunk 2077

| Jul 1, 2019 3:50 PM CDT

UPDATE: CD Projekt RED gave official statements saying Bankier's report was misleading, but doesn't explicitly deny a new Cyberpunk project is in the works.

CDPR making another Cyberpunk game after Cyberpunk 2077

"We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Krakow, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D.

"A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw studio is handling the development of Gwent. The final team is Spokko, which is currently working on a yet unannounced mobile project."

Remedy now owns Alan Wake publishing rights

| Jul 1, 2019 12:04 PM CDT

Remedy now controls Alan Wake's IP and publishing rights, giving the studio free reign to make a sequel. But it's not that simple. They still have to find funding.

Remedy now owns Alan Wake publishing rights

Today Remedy Entertainment announced it's retained control over Alan Wake's publishing rights and got a nifty 2.5 million euro in royalties to boot. Fans might think this instantly opens the door to Alan Wake 2...but the situation is much more complicated than that. Unless Remedy self-publishes its future games like Bungie is with Destiny, Remedy has to sell the rights back as a kind of line of credit to get the project made.

As an independent studio, Remedy has to sign contracts to get specific games made. To get Alan Wake published and distributed, the studio signed a big multi-year contract giving Microsoft publishing exclusivity over the franchise. Remedy still owned the IP, but couldn't release a sequel without Microsoft's approval. These rights can last a long, long time and developers simply have to wait them out or buy back the rights (like Bungie did with Destiny).

Apex Legends Season 2 challenges crush Season 1 in everyway

| Jul 1, 2019 4:00 AM CDT

Apex Legends' Season 2 update is just around the corner and just before its launch we have gotten some details regarding the new seasons challenge system.

Apex Legends Season 2 challenges crush Season 1 in everyway

A recent blog post from Lee Horn, the Lead Product Manager for Apex Legends has shone a light on Season 2's updated challenge progression system. According to Horn, players will have a much more enjoyable and easier time advancing levels in Season 2 as Respawn has heard the criticism from Season 1 and has taken it on board.

Horn says that: "More than half of your Weekly Challenges will grant an entire Battle Pass level as a reward. The remaining Daily & Weekly Challenges grant STARS which, combined with match XP, contribute to a repeatable Weekly Challenge that grants a full Battle Pass level with each completion. STARS are XP specific to Battle Pass, meaning STARS do not impact Account Level progression."

Masters of Doom being turned into TV show by James Franco

| Jul 1, 2019 12:23 AM CDT

Most people will remember James Franco from movies like Pineapple Express and something I really loved him in -- 11.22.63, and now he is teaming up with his also-talented brother Dave on a new TV show based in the DOOM universe called Masters of Doom.

Masters of Doom being turned into TV show by James Franco

Masters of Doom will be produced by Dave and James Franco based on the 2003 non-fiction book that was written by David Kushner, a contributor to Rolling Stone. Masters of Doom is an interesting take as it will tell the story of id Software co-ffounders John Carmack and John Romero who went from best friends and turned into enemies over the years as they were in the pursuit of creating one of the most influential first-person shooters, and arguably one of the most important: DOOM.

I can't wait for it personally, and it's another great touch to have the Franco brothers involved. I have followed Carmark and Romero since I was a kid, and their journey into DOOM, Quake - and yes, I even played a lot of Daikatana. Daikatana was something Romero made when he left id Software to form Ion Storm, with Daikatana in development hell for years and did not end up being anything memorable when it dropped in 2000 for Windows and the Nintendo 64.

RAGE 2 is the first to support AMD's new FidelityFX tech

| Jun 30, 2019 11:45 PM CDT

AMD's new FidelityFX technology has made its first appearance in RAGE 2, with developer Avalanche Studios releasing a patch for the game that offers FidelityFX that will first drop on 7/7 with the next-gen Navi-based Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards.

RAGE 2 is the first to support AMD's new FidelityFX tech

The new Navi-exclusive FidelityFX technology is made up of different high quality post-processing effects that will sharpen up the image quality in your game, without sacrificing as much GPU horsepower. DSOGaming notes that the FidelityFX SHARPENING & UPSAMPLING is now an option in RAGE 2, and while it detects with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti installed, it will not run on any graphics card that isn't based on the new Navi GPU architecture, which will power the upcoming Radeon RX 5700 graphics cards.

There are other limitations of FidelityFX that extend from it being exclusive to the Radeon RX 5700 series, as it currently only works on DX11 games.

Battleborn's failure made Borderlands 3 a better game

| Jun 30, 2019 6:50 PM CDT

Gearbox's experimental shooter Battleborn was a failure, but it offered a welcome break from Borderlands fatigue.

Battleborn's failure made Borderlands 3 a better game

There's a huge seven-year span between Borderlands 2 and 3, and it's been five years since the Pre-Sequel. Gearbox is happy about this gap; it gave the team an opportunity to recharge their batteries and try something new outside of Pandora's loot-shooter. Gearbox pretty much made Borderlands 1 and 2 back-to-back, and instead of mandating work begin right away on the third chapter, 2K Games gave Gearbox time to make Battleborn. The game ultimately fell apart but it was a mini-vacation of sorts away from the intense IP grind.

According to Borderlands 3 art director Scott Kester, Battleborn's ill-fated diversion actually helped the third chapter's development. Moving right to Borderlands 3 would've been severe burnout and fatigue, which could affect the game's turnout.
