Sony uses its huge Crystal LED display as virtual set backgrounds
Sony has just found a new home for its kick ass Crystal LED display technology, something that the company is doing similar to Samsung's MicroLED technology and its modular nature -- Sony is doing it in their own way.
Sony's big push for 2021 is the modular bezel-free Crystal LED that can be used to build virtual backgrounds for virtual sets on productions like The Mandalorian. There are two versions of the screen that Sony sells, the high-resolution "Reality Creation" is done with HDR, 3D and even 120FPS support.
The two variants that Sony have are the C- and B-series which are tuned for either 1,000,000:1 high contrast or high brightness, respectively. The 1,800 cd/m2-capable B-series Sony Crystal LED display was developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures specifically for the use as a studio backdrop that wouldn't show reflections.

You can expect to pay $150,000 for Samsung's huge 110-inch MicroLED TV
Samsung has just launched its MicroLED-based TV to regular consumers, and not just to millionaires and members of royal families that could spend $300,000+ on a gigantic TV.
But now us mere mortals can buy Samsung's amazing MicroLED TV that is smaller than last year's iteration in the form of The Wall TV, which measured in at a retina-busting 292-inch in size... the new 2021 version is a MicroLED TV in fixed sizes of 110-inch, 99-inch, and 88-inch. They're cheaper, but they're still going to run you some serious Benjamins.
Samsung has launched the consumer-focused The Wall TVs in South Korea already, with the 110-inch MicroLED TV costing around $156,000 -- but there are now a 99-inch and 88-inch version, which should be closer to maybe $100,000 for the 99-inch, and maybe $75,000 for the 88-inch... but I'm just spit-balling here.

LG teases 55-inch transparent OLED in sushi bar of the future
LG Display is getting out and a few days ahead of CES 2021 to show off its next step in transparent OLED TV technology.
The company has just teased its new 55-inch transparent OLED display in a future sushi bar, where restaurant goers would be browsing the menu or even watching videos on the transparent OLED. Not only that, but you could watch the chefs themselves preparing your meal behind it as it rocks a hygienic partition -- thanks, COVID -- and 40% transparency.
A transparent LCD on the other hand, would have just 10% transparency -- showing how good OLED is in comparison with 40% transparency in its current state. The new transparent OLED wouldn't just have a place in the restaurants of the future, but also at the end of a "smart bed" according to LG.

LG's new 8K QNED TVs debut in 2021 with mini LED technology
LG currently dominates with its flagship OLED technology but the company will be introducing its first-ever QNED Mini LED TV -- debuting as its top-of-the-line flagship LG 2021 premium LCD TV lineup.
The company is teasing the infusion of technologies in its new QNED Mini LED TV family that has 10 different models in both 4K and 8K panels and sizes ranging all the way up to a huge 86 inch. We will see quantum dot and NanoCell technologies with Mini LEDs as the light source.
LG explains that "brightness and contrast are far superior to that of conventional LCD televisions". LG's innovative Mini LED back-lighting "comprises up to almost 30,000 tiny LEDs that produce incredible peak brightness and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 when paired with up to nearly 2,500 dimming zones and advanced local dimming technology. This results in excellent HDR image quality with outstanding contrast and blacks, a wide color gamut and incredible color accuracy. For stunningly life-like images that seem to shed the confines of the screen and enter the user's space, it's not hard to see why LG QNED Mini LED is the new LCD TV to beat".

But now this official Sony Spatial Reality Display has a high-speed vision sensor that tracks your eye movement, and your position as you are moving your head -- or your body, around the display.
Sony's new Spatial Reality Display divides the screen for both your left and right eyes, creating the stereoscopic image in the end. The new Spatial Reality Display requires a decent PC to run it, with Sony recommending an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card.

Samsung and LG lead the global TV shipments, with TrendForce noting that the demand in the US alone was over 20%, because of the COVID-19 pandemic and millions of Americans sitting at home. The uptick in demand for Q3 2020 over the quarter before it, is because the COVID-19 pandemic wrecked havoc on the entire supply chain.
