NVIDIA was prepping a fifth and final option for the GeForce RTX 3060 with an RTX 3060 SUPER that would have shipped with a fully unlocked GA106 GPU. This would put its CUDA Core count at 3840 versus the existing 8GB and 12GB variants' 3584 CUDA Cores - a modest increase of 7.1%.

Of course, an increase in cores doesn't quite equate to the same increase in performance when it comes to playing games, but the GeForce RTX 3060 SUPER (alongside its 12GB of GDDR6 memory) would have made it the most powerful version of the RTX 3060. The BIOS on the leaked specs from @inatural_log on Twitter confirms that it's from 2020, so it's not a new card.

And when it comes to the RTX 3060, NVIDIA did release a few different variants - with the most notable difference being models with 8GB of VRAM and models with 12GB of VRAM. The GeForce RTX 3060 SUPER's 12GB would have featured the same 192-bit bus and 360GB/s bandwidth as the non-SUPER 12GB model, so the only difference looks to be the fully unlocked CUDA cores for the GA106 GPU and an increased boost clock speed of 1875 MHz compared to the 1777 MHz we ended up with.

The foldable market is about to get one more player with Google about to enter the fray. It'll do that with the much-rumored Pixel Fold, a phone that is now expected to be announced in May and then go on sale in June.

We'd already been told by leaker Jon Prosser those particular details, with June 27 the big date for when the phone will be available. It's also thought to go up for pre-order on Google's website on May 10 and then with partners and carriers on May 30. Now, another report appears to back that up while sharing some specifications as well.

This latest report comes via CNBC and Jennifer Elias who claims to have seen internal communications that confirm the plans to announce the Pixel Fold at Google I/O on May 10. The report goes on to say that the phone will have the most durable hinge of all the available foldable while costing around $1700. That's around the same price as Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4 and sits right at where Prosser had also suggested as well.

The 22TB of storage is market-leading capacity, and Seagate notes that it has been built for multi-user workloads and enterprise RAID solutions. Or even a local NAS used to house countless media files as part of an all-out Plex setup.

Regarding workloads, the Seagate IronWolf Pro 22TB has been designed with workload rates of 550TB/year, making it an excellent option for file sharing, storage, and collaboration over a network. It also offers a sustained data rate (SDR) of up to 285MB/s for multiple users of NAS, DAS, and RAID environments.

Streaming video and now gaming service Netflix has announced that it's making some changes, starting with the fact that it will no longer send out plastic discs anymore.

Netflix might be the name on everyone's lips when it comes to streaming their favorite shows and movies in 2023, but back in the day, it was a company that posted DVDs out in the mail. For 25 years Netflix has sent people DVDs in the mail, but it says it's going to send its last ones on September 29, 2023.

The news came as part of the company's quarter shareholders' notes which included the news that the DVD.com website will be wound down. Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, also shared the news in a blog post on the Netflix website.

A mother in Arizona has received a terrifying phone call from what seemed to be a loved one about her daughter's kidnapping.

Arizona resident Jennifer DeStefano told WKYT that she received a phone call from a random phone number while she was at one of her daughter's dance studios. DeStefano said she almost let the phone call ring through but was concerned that her other 15-year-old daughter, that was out on a skiing trip, may have been in trouble. DeStefano answered the call and immediately heard her sobbing 15-year-old daughter's voice crying out, "Mom!".

Panicked, DeStefano quickly asked what was wrong, and her daughter's voice said, "Mom, I messed up," which was followed by more sobbing and crying. Before another question could be asked by DeStefano, she recounted a man yelling in the background of the call, "Put your head back, lie down". This unknown man got on the phone and demanded that DeStefano pay him $1 million dollar for the safe return of her daughter while also saying that if she were to call the police or anybody else that he was going to pump her daughter full of drugs, violate her and then drop her off in Mexico.

Top Google officials have sat down for an exclusive interview with CBS' 60 Minutes to discuss the current state of artificial intelligence development at Google.

The hour-long interview touches on various topics surrounding AI development, such as its dangers, positive benefits, and overall impact on society. During the interview, Google revealed that there are aspects of AI development that remain mysterious even to the engineers that have designed the software. These anomalies are referred to as a "black box", as how the AI decided to generate such a response isn't fully understood by the engineers.

During the 60 Minutes interview, Google Senior Vice President James Manyika explains that after feeding Google's upcoming AI chatbot called Bard several lines of Bengali, the native language spoken by people living in Bangladesh, Bard was able to fully translate all of the Bengali. CBS claims in the above video that Google's AI program was never trained in Bengali, and when it was given its first Bengali lines of text, it was able to adapt on its own.

Apple is expected to announce its next Apple Watch operating system in June and a new leak suggests that we can expect it to come with a big new feature in tow.

The leak, which comes from the same person who correctly shared details of the iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island in 2022, claims that Apple's watchOS 10 will add support for folders for the first time. The change might not seem like a big one at first blush, but it will make it much, much easier to manage and find apps on what is expected to be a redesigned Home Screen.

The leaker says that they will share more details in the future, but right now we're being told to expect a Home Screen that will be easier to use while also making it easier to move apps around. It's also claimed that the update will be much more like iOS, although it isn't immediately clear what that means.

Instagram has long been a very good way for people to share their photos and short videos but there's one thing that it has been particularly bad at - letting people share links to their websites and other profiles. Now, not so much.

In a change that means people won't need alternative arrangements like LinkTree, Instagram now allows people to put up to five different links in their profile for the first time. Previously, that number of links was very limited but this change isn't perfect.

As some people are already starting to notice, Instagram might now let you put up to five links into your profile but people will only actually see one of them. The profile shows the first link and then says that there are x other links available to be viewed. The result is that people have to tap that to open the list of links which, frankly, isn't ideal.

Elon Musk has officially announced his intention to clamber aboard the AI bandwagon with an alternative to ChatGPT which is apparently designed to be a "maximum truth-seeking AI" no less.

Musk spilled the beans on this artificial intelligence rival - which will also join Google Bard in the generative AI arms race - in an interview with Tucker Carlson (Fox News), as The Verge reports.

Musk told Carlson:

NVIDIA has released a new graphics driver that brings in support for a couple of games, and fixes a few bugs, including one that could drop performance levels in Counter-Strike 2 (which is currently in its 'limited test' phase before release this summer).

The freshly unleashed version 531.68 of NVIDIA's Game Ready driver is now available to download and is a recommended installation for those planning to play two big-name games due out later this month.

That would be Dead Island 2, which debuts on April 21, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which arrives a week later on April 28.

NVIDIA's RTX 4070 graphics card has only just come out, but we've already seen evidence of tentative discounts for some models - and now we're hearing that the GPU could get an official price cut ushered in direct from Team Green.

This is just a rumor, so bear that firmly in mind, but sources have told Igor's Lab that NVIDIA is considering offering a rebate payment of up to $50 to card makers, at least in the case of MSRP-level RTX 4070 models.

Those are the models built to an entry-level spec and sold at the recommended price of $599, and the theory Igor advances is that such a payment would give some breathing space to card manufacturers who find their base RTX 4070s remaining stubbornly on shelves (and perhaps starting to accumulate the first few specks of dust).

AMD's Ryzen 7 7800X3D is a seriously impressive piece of silicon, and some new testing of the CPU throws fresh light on just how well it runs on Linux - the chip is a bit faster than on Windows, in fact.

Specifically, this is the new AMD processor being tested on Windows 11 versus Ubuntu 23.04 to determine whether Microsoft or Linux takes the performance crown across various benchmarks.

Note that this was an extensive battery of tests conducted by Phoronix.com, consisting of heavyweight app and CPU benchmarks - some 80 of them - as opposed to gaming tests. We're talking Blender, Geekbench, Google Chrome, and much, much more.

If you've ever looked at your boring, static emojis in WhatsApp and wished that they were just that little bit more fun, you're in for a good time. A new report claims that WhatsApp is testing animated emojis for the first time and they could change the way we use the instant messaging service.

Emojis are pretty cool in their own right of course, but this new report suggests that the company is ready to animate them with the help of Lottie. The result could be an entire library of animated emojis the likes of which WhatsApp users have never been able to enjoy before.

This new feature is currently under development according to a report by the WhatsApp watchers over at WABetaInfo. The report says that the WhatsApp Desktop beta will be the first to get the new feature in terms of early testing, while both Android and iPhone users should be able to join the fun eventually.

A photographer has declined his prize for winning Sony's creative, open category last week for an image he revealed to be tampered by a "cheeky monkey".

In an effort to see if the prestigious art competition was ready for the exponentially growing influx of artificial intelligence-generated images, German artist Boris Eldagsen, who studied photography and visual arts at the Art Academy of Mainz, conceptual art and intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, entered into the competition with a black and white photograph that showed two women from different generations.

Eldagsen explained on his website that the motivation behind him entering into the competition was to provoke an open discussion about what is considered to be photography and what isn't, alluding to AI either falling under the umbrella of photography or it forming its own separate category. The German artist added that this was a "historic moment" as its the first time a prestigious art competition had unknowingly awarded an AI image.

In a new episode of the Lex Fridman Podcast, Max Tegmark has sat down to discuss the multitude of reasons behind the push for the development on artificial intelligence to be temporarily halted.

Max Tegmark, a physicist and AI researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and co-founder of the Future of Life Institute, a nonprofit organization that works to reduce global catastrophic and existential risks facing humanity, mostly focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence, has answered several questions about AI's role in civilization, starting with the simple question of "do you think there is intelligent life out there in the universe?".

Tegmark explains that based on what humans have discovered as what is deemed the 'observable universe', he would fall into the minority ground that believes humans are the only intelligent life that has created technology as advanced as what we have today. Additionally, Tegmark says that if this theory is true, it would put a lot of responsibility on humanity, being the most advanced form of life in the universe, to "not stuff this up".

With Google now expected to announce the Pixel 7a at its Google I/O developer event on May 10 we're starting to see more rumors about what that will actually entail including what it will mean for the current Pixel 6a.

Normally, when Google releases a new version of the Pixel it immediately discontinues the current model. That's what happened with the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a, but a new report suggests that won't be the case this time around.

That's according to leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser who shared some details about the as-yet-unannounced mid-range phone. According to him, Google will not only announce the Pixel 7a during that May 10 event but it will also make it available to buy immediately following that event. There won't be any pre-order windows or anything, he says, which is worth noting if you're keen to pick yourself up a new phone.

Motorola fans can look forward to not just one but two new foldable phones from the popular company, and they're both going to be announced fairly soon according to a new leak.

Set to be called the Motorola Razr Pro and Motorola Razr Lite, the two new phones will be announced in June according to leaker Max Jambor, with June 1 being the magic date according to that leak. The launch event will take place in Madrid, Spain while a launch in the United States is also likely in the cards for the same date.

The last Motorola Razr to be released in the United States came back in 2020 with the more recent model skipping the country entirely. That doesn't look set to be the case this time around however, with both the Razr Pro and Razr Lite now tipped for a launch in the country. That's good news for foldable fans who want to look to something other than the Samsung offerings with those buying in the U.S. sadly lacking in options.

In a new CBS 60 Minutes interview DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has revealed some details about the current artificial intelligence landscape and the rapid developments that are taking place.

The head of the Google-owned AI division was asked several questions about the developments surrounding artificial intelligence, first touching on AI-powered soccer robots and then the ultimate goal of creating an artificial general intelligence (AGI). Hassabis was asked if an AGI was created would it be aware of itself, to which he responded by explaining that philosophers haven't landed on a concise definition for consciousness, but given the current direction of AI development, and if the definition is general self-awareness, its possible that AI will become aware of itself in the future.

Hassabis notes that he doesn't believe any artificial intelligence developed today is self-aware, but as development continues in its various forms, humans will begin to work out what self-awareness can be defined as, and if it has been achieved. While there are many differing opinions on the definition of conscious artificial intelligence, a simple general way to think about AGI is the creation of an AI-powered system capable of performing or learning how to perform any task that a human can do.

Student researchers have created what seems to be the first AR smart glasses powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT.

The pair of smart glasses were created by Stanford student Bryan Hau-Ping Chiang, who took to Twitter at the end of last month to reveal his creation and how it came to be. The Stanford student explained the smart glasses were powered by what he called "rizzGPT", which is able to provide real-time "charisma as a service". The smart glasses were built using OpenAI's GPT-4 language model, Whisper, and Monocle AR glasses that were provided by Brilliant Labs. Notably, the glasses feature a microphone, a high-resolution display, a camera, and the ability to output text.

The researchers explain that they imagine a world in the future where there is ambient computing enabled through Augmented Reality (AR), possibly through glasses such as the ones created by the students. Chiang wrote on Twitter that this ambient computing would likely come to fruition with the combination of AR and AI. An example of this would be AI-powered smart glasses that have a personal assistant that can provide you additional information on-the-fly, it would be similar to having a God observe your life and tell you exactly what to do next and why.

There had been the od leak and suspicion that Samsung was getting ready to announce a mystery third foldable in 2023, but that now seems to be highly unlikely.

While it wasn't clear to anyone what that third foldable could be, there was the suggestion that Samsung was working on a tri-fold tablet of some sort that would turn a larger tablet into something more the size of a phone. There was a chance that the device could debut in 2023 but the lack of recent leaks suggests now. Now, the well-connected display analyst Ross Young has weighed in and it isn't good news.

Young was replying to a post on Twitter by leaker Max Jambor who suggested that while we'd seen more and more leaks of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, the third folding device was conspicuously absent from leaks. That, suggests Young, is because it isn't going to happen. At least, it won't happen in 2023.
