NVIDIA's first consumer APU is said to have gaming performance that hits levels of the GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, using just 65W, aiming directly at AMD's new Strix Halo APU arriving in 2025.

In a new video from Moore's Law is Dead, his source teased that "behind the scenes, NVIDIA is comparing their new APU to an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU running at ~65W in gaming performance". NVIDIA is working with MediaTek on its new AI PC processor, which will be an Arm-based processor so these new NVIDIA APU-powered laptops will be running Arm on Windows, an issue for Qualcomm and Copilot+ AI PCs right now.

MLID talked to a couple of sources that said NVIDIA is preparing to launch its new Arm-based APU to thin-and-light laptops within a "couple of years". The company is aiming at up to 80W of power, with NVIDIA reportedly partnering with Dell under its Alienware brand for its new AI PC processor.

NVIDIA has revealed a fresh incentive to buy an RTX 4000 graphics card, which is a free copy of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

As ever, this free game comes with qualifying Lovelace GPUs, and that's not just desktop RTX 4000 models, but also laptops with one of the mobile flavors of the current-gen range.

What are those qualifying GPU models? They are as follows: NVIDIA RTX 4090, 4080 Super, 4080, 4070 Ti Super, 4070 Ti, 4070 Super, and 4070 desktop cards. With laptops, they are: NVIDIA RTX 4090, 4080, and 4070 mobile GPUs.

NVIDIA has released a new graphics driver that comes with support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and it also packs the fix for a bug that has been plaguing those with Corsair peripherals.

The GeForce Game Ready Driver version 566.14 brings in support for the mentioned games, which are also getting DLSS 3 Frame Generation - good news for your frame rates (those with RTX 4000 graphics cards, of course).

The driver is the first to be released following the debut of the official NVIDIA App, which just exited from its beta test, pushing GeForce Experience into obscurity (for those who used it, anyway). You can use that official app to grab the new v566.14 driver, of course.

Apple has rolled out a new security feature within iOS 18.1 that automatically reboots an iPhone if it is left inactive for a period of time, and the new feature is a real concern to law enforcement.

Reports indicate that law enforcement officials believed Apple rolled out a new update that enables iPhones to communicate between devices and switch each other off. However, that certainly isn't the case, and the reports of randomly rebooting iPhones can be traced back to an addition Apple made in iOS 18.1. According to security researcher Jiska Classen, iOS 18.1 added a security feature called "Inactivity Reboot," which automatically reboots the device after four days of inactivity.

Law enforcement has found this new feature particularly annoying as many iPhones are stored for evidence for extended periods of time before they are broken into for evidence. After an iPhone performs a reboot, it enters into what is called the Before First Unlock (BFU) state, which, according to reports, is a state that makes it much more difficult to unlock the device than After First Unlock.

Running games at the highest end graphics can be even demanding for some of the most expensive graphics cards on the market.

One of, if not the best-looking engine on the market right now is Epic's Unreal Engine 5.4, and that has been used to create Project Borealis - A Prologue to Half-Life 3. The fan-made project was created using the latest version of Unreal Engine (5.4), and it was run on an NVIDIA RTX 4080 at 4K, 1440p at Very High settings with DLSS 3.7 and Frame Generation on and off. The results were quite interesting, as the RTX 4080 could not provide 60 frames per second at native 4K.

However, with DLSS Ultra Quality and Frame Generation, the experience improved significantly, pushing the fan-made project above the 60 FPS mark. The video demonstrates the power of NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS and Frame Generation with heavier graphical engines such as Unreal Engine 5, and the necessity of having these performance-improving tools available to developers so graphically intensive titles can run on the widest variety of hardware possible.

Amazon is reportedly working on a pair of smart glasses designed specifically for delivery drivers, as the company is looking for a method to reduce the time it takes for a delivery to reach its destination.

The unannounced project comes from Reuters in an exclusive report that cites people familiar with the project who spoke under the condition of anonymity due to the project's confidential nature. According to the report, the new smart glasses are designed to assist drivers with the final stretch of the delivery journey, the steps taken from the courier vehicle to the customer's door. While this may sound like the simplest part of the journey, it's actually a major concern of Amazon's as there are many things that can occur during this period that can result in delays that stack up over the course of a day.

Amazon's delivery smart glasses would provide drivers with turn-by-turn navigation on a small embedded screen. The heads-up display (HUD) would inform drivers of their route and each stop within the screen. An example of this would be a driver being required to go up an elevator. The glasses would be able to provide left and right directions for the driver once the elevator doors open to the correct level. Additionally, the glasses would be able to navigate drivers around obstacles such as gates, fences, and even aggressive dogs.

It is a one-stop shop for all things GeForce RTX, serving as the latest place to update drivers, optimize games, change display settings, or install and access RTX apps like GeForce NOW, NVIDIA Broadcast, ChatRTX, and more.

After several updates that have improved the app's performance and added new and highly requested features, NVIDIA is ready to announce that the NVIDIA App is officially released and no longer in beta. So, if you've been holding out on jumping from GeForce Experience, now's the time.

The CEO of Telegram has offered women free IVF treatment if they are willing to use his sperm for the procedure, in what he says is an effort to help couples struggling with infertility.

It was only back in early September that Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced that he has more than 100 biological kids, and that he plans to open-source his DNA so it's easier for his biological children to find each other. Durov explained the initiative was born when a friend struggling with infertility approached him for his sperm, which Durov said resulted in the boss of the sperm clinic informing him there is a shortage of "high quality donor material".

Now, a new partnership with Durov and the AltraVita IVF clinic, based in Moscow, Russia, is offering women free IVF fertilization if they choose to use Durov's sperm. According to the AltraVita website, it's the exclusive source for Durov's sperm, and the Telegram CEO is willing to "finance all the IVF protocols that use his sperm". For those couples struggling immensely with pregnancy, IVF can be a prosperous route. However, it doesn't always work, and in some cases, depending on the region, it can result in thousands of dollars spent with no luck.

SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft has conducted its first-ever reboost of the International Space Station (ISS), the floating laboratory approximately 250 miles above the surface of Earth that's home to astronauts from around the world.

NASA has taken to its website to announce that it and SpaceX monitored the operations of the Dragon spacecraft during its boost, and according to the blog post, this is Dragon's "first demonstration of reboost capabilities for the International Space Station". The reboost was conducted at 12:50 p.m. EST on Friday and involved the Dragon spacecraft engaging its boosters for approximately 12 minutes and 30 seconds, which adjusted the orbit of the ISS by 7/100 of a mile at apogee and 7/10 of a mile at perigee.

The demonstration proved SpaceX's Dragon capsule could be used as a means of adjusting the ISS when necessary, which is something the ISS requires regularly as the floating laboratory is constantly losing altitude. Up until now, vehicles from the European Space Agency and Northrop Grumman were used to maintain the ISS's orbit. However, NASA wants more options for obvious reasons such as emergencies, forward planning, etc.

Microsoft has again kicked off another initiative to get Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11, extolling the virtues of the latest 24H2 take on the newer desktop OS.

Windows Latest spotted the new banner that Microsoft is pushing (via a server-side update) to Windows 10 users, on the Windows Update panel.

The banner proclaims that "Windows 11 version 24H2 is ready - and it's free" in an effort to persuade those with a Windows 10 PC that's compatible with the newer operating system to hit the upgrade button, which, of course, is right there in the advert.

Intel's new Core Ultra 5 245K processor has an integrated Xe-based Arc GPU, which when overclocked to 3.0GHz, has over 50% more performance in synthetic benchmarks. Check it out:

The new Core Ultra 200S processors (in non-F/KF) editions feature "Intel Graphics" on-board, packing only 4 Xe Cores and clock speeds of only 2.0GHz. The Core Ultra 5 245K processor is the lowest-end Arrow Lake CPU release so far, but it packs 14 cores of CPU power and an integrated iGPU clocked at 1.9GHz.

At stock settings, the integrated Arc GPU inside of the 245K pumps out around 2100 to 2200 points in 3DMark Time Spy and its Graphics test. Overclocker "Arabus" pushed the Arc GPU to 3.0GHz, and had some rather surprising results to show.

AMD's new Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor has been compared to the 7800X3D, 9700X, and 7700X processors all locked at a 4.8GHz frequency... the perfect comparison.

ComputerBase tested four different models for the test, each of the processors used had a single CCD (Core Complex Die) with 8 cores and 16 threads: this includes the 9800X3D and 9700X which are 8C/16T chips based on Zen 5, while the 9700X and 7700X are 8C/16T chips based on Zen 4.

ComputerBase tested the new Zen 5-based Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor to find out why the new 9800X3D is 14% faster than the 7800X3D... whether it was the new Zen 5 architecture, the CPU frequency, or the second-generation 3D V-Cache technology from AMD.

Microsoft released a statement over the weekend on its Release Health Dashboard that acknowledges the company is aware of some instances of Windows Server 2019 and 2022 automatically updating to Windows Server 2025.

The Redmond company explained that systems and servers experiencing this problem were using third-party software to manage updates, and the recent update that sparked the problem was marked as "Optional." However, third-party patch management software must not have flagged the update as such, which Microsoft highlights in the following statement, "Feature update metadata must be interpreted as Optional and not Recommended by patch management tools."

Unsurprisingly, it appears it isn't that simple either, as reports indicate the update was originally mislabeled by Microsoft, resulting in the Redmond company pulling it. Moreover, The Register reports a reader saying a standalone server not running any third-party patch management software was also subjected to the automatic update. What does this all mean?

Sony has officially launched the PlayStation 5 Pro, and while the announcement of the console was met with criticism from fans regarding its price and touted graphical improvement, Sony has already said it is exceeding sales expectations and even beating the pace of the PlayStation 4 Pro during the same period.

Unfortunately, Sony didn't convey the graphical / performance improvements of the PS5 Pro compared to the standard model very well during its announcement, which was in part due to the explanations Sony gave and also the limitation of viewers looking at the showcase through devices with low-resolution displays. Regardless of where you may think the fault lies, the PS5 Pro has made it into customers' hands, and now we are starting to get independent graphical comparisons between the new console and the old one.

Additionally, the PS5 Pro version doesn't have a dedicated patch, which means there is even more performance to be gained here once one is released, as the beefier components within the PS5 Pro will be fully utilized.

TSMC's 5nm and 3nm production lines are fully loaded until the first half of 2025, thanks to the continued strong demand of AI chips, and Qualcomm + MediaTek smartphone chips.

In a new report from Ctee, we're learning that AI chip orders will keep TSMC 5nm lines over 100% utilized in the first half of 2025 (which is normally a weaker time of the year for the semiconductor giant). TSMC is also expected to see CoWoS advanced packaging output at over 36,000 wafers per month by the end of 2024, and 90,000+ per month by the end of 2025.

Ctee reports that the "breaking point" will be concentrated in Q4 2024, which will alleviate the current pressure on advanced packaging production capacity. The supply chain suggest that NVIDIA's new B200 series GPUs are gradually increasing in volume and production of 200,000 B200 chips will be made by the end of 2024, with B300A launching in Q3 2025.

MSI's new MPG 491CQPX QD-OLED gaming monitor has launched, a huge new 49-inch super ultrawide QD-OLED gaming monitor with a native 5120 x 1440 resolution and super-smooth 240Hz refresh rate.

The company launched the MPG 491CQP QD-OLED gaming monitor earlier this year, but the new MPG 491CQPX (that "X" is the differentiator) with the Dual QHD QD-OLED panel essentially dual 2K monitors side-by-side with a monster 5120 x 1440 resolution. The earlier model (MPG 491CQP) had a 144Hz refresh rate, but the newer MPG 491CQPX has a faster 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time.

MSI's new MPG 491CQPX QD-OLED gaming monitor also packs DisplayHDR True Black 400 and VESA ClearMR 13000 certifications, as well as MSI's in-house OLED Care 2.0 technology which should reduce (but not totally prevent) OLED burn-in. The company is also offering a 3-year burn-in warranty, which isn't a bad deal.

This is reportedly Tom Cruise's last mission as protagonist Ethan Hunt, but I'm sure we could see one last mission...

This is the 8th entry in the franchise, with Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning to be the conclusion from the events of the cliffhanger in Dead Reckoning Part 1 from 2023. We don't know the full plot details just yet, but Ethan and his team must stop one of the most dangerous weapons from destroying the world, and will take to the depths of the oceans again to stop it.

AMD's fleet of Ryzen 9000 series "Zen 5" processors have had their prices slashed, with record low prices on Ryzen 9000 series including the Ryzen 9 9900X now at $359 with a huge 28% discount from its launch MSRP.

Multiple retailers have the new Ryzen 9000 series CPUs discounted, with Microcenter in the US listing the Zen 5 desktop chips at some delicious discounts. The Ryzen 9 9950X (16 cores, 32 threads) has a 12.3% discount dropping the price to $569.99, while the Ryzen 9 9900X (12 cores, 24 threads) enjoys a huge 28% discount, dropping the price down to $359.99.

Next up we've got the Ryzen 7 9700X (8 cores, 16 threads) discounted by 13.9% which drops the price to $309.99, while the mid-range Zen 5-based Ryzen 5 9600X (6 cores, 12 threads) enjoys a bigger 17.9% discount, dropping the price to just $229.99.

TSMC could build new CoWoS advanced packaging plants in the United States and Japan because of "persistently strong demand".

In a new report from Ctee, we're learning that demand for TSMC's advanced packaging "remains high" and that rumors across the semiconductor supply chain suggest TSMC plans to consider setting up CoWoS plants in the US and Japan to "meet local needs".

TSMC's CoWoS advanced packaging supply is still tight, with production capacity and expansion expected to double in 2024, and then double again in 2025 as demand is still insane (thanks to the unstoppable demand of AI chips, mostly from NVIDIA).
