One of the things that the Nexus 7 didn't have going for it, was that it didn't sport Internet capabilities when not near a wireless network. But, for $199, can you really complain that the Nexus 7 lacked 3G? No.

Rumor now has it that ASUS are set to launch a 3G-capable Nexus 7 tablet, and it could launch just 6 weeks from now. Adding 3G to the tablet might bump the price up, but by how much? $30? $50?

How much would you be willing to pay for a 3G-enabled Nexus 7? If it were 4G-enabled, I might have picked one up and thrown a pre-paid 4G SIM inside, now that would be sweet.

It looks like there might be some new, redesigned earbuds in those new iPhone boxes. MacRumors has posted some news, along with a photo and video regarding the redesigned earbuds.

The video shows off the new earbuds, comparing them to the old ones that were included with the current-gen iPhone 4S:

Clive Palmer, an Australian billionaire, is set to spend quite a bunch of cash on building a full-sized replica of the Titanic. Now, you're probably thinking a replica, would be a 1/100, or 1/1000 scale model, but this is the real deal, the real size of the original Titanic.

The design of the replica is being completed in Europe, with the construction of the ship to begin toward the end of this year in China. Palmer has said that the Titanic 2 will keep 98% of the original Titanic design, with the 2% in changes reserved for building in modern standards and regulatory requirements. Palmer says:

A complete list of specifications for Samsung's upcoming well-named Galaxy Victory have leaked out. The new phone looks to be a mid-range device, but doesn't lack too many of the higher-end features or specs.

Samsung's Galaxy Victory sports a 4-inch 800x480-pixel screen, dual-core 1.2GHz CPU from Qualcomm, 4G LTE support, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.3-megapixel front facer, and Google's Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, with Samsung's TouchWiz UI thrown on top.

Pirate Bay co-founder, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, has been arrested in Phnom Penh after the Swedish government had made a request for his detention to the Cambodian.

A spokesperson for the Cambodian police has said that Cambodia doesn't have an extradition treaty with Sweden. Kirth Chantharith told the AFP:

It looks as though Apple is getting thirsty for more Samsung blood, as they've amended their complaint with the US District Court for the Northern District of California, where the Cupertino-based company has added two versions of two Galaxy phones.

The first of which is the Galaxy Note, followed by the Galaxy S III. This case was lodged back in February, and is separate to the current Apple vs. Samsung case that saw the ban of a heap of Samsung smart devices.

This case takes aim at the Galaxy S III, it's Verizon-based version, the Galaxy Note, as well as the recently-released Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. The total number of devices Apple are going against with just Samsung now stands at an incredible 21. According to Apple, Samsung has "continued to flood the market with copycat products".

At first glance, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes just sounded like an open-world game on a next-gen engine dubbed 'Fox'. But, in reality, it's looking bloody impressive.

Usually, we see CG bits from MGS titles, and when the game comes out, it looks great, but never as close to the CG we see beforehand. The Fox engine is completely next-gen and incapable of being run on current-gen consoles. Konami showed it off on PC, but the game will eventually hit next-gen consoles.

After watching it, you can see its running in 1080p, with anti-aliasing cranked up, with all of the bells and whistles. It's not completely mind-blowing, but it really does completely blow the current-gen console graphic capabilities out of the water. MGS: Ground Zeroes will hopefully look even better than this, as this would be a very early build of the open-world stealth shooter/adventure game.

We've been hearing rumors of the iPad mini, which is destined to be a 7.85-inch iPad, down from it's bigger brother which sports a 10.1-inch screen. News comes from Instapaper developer, Marco Arment, who has discovered two new iPad device codes in his logs, which he believes point to the fact of an iPad mini.

The new identifiers arrive as "iPad2,5" and "iPad2,6". Arment notes that the iPad2,1 through to the iPad2,3 identifiers are known to link up to the iPad 2's WiFi, GSM and CDMA variants. The iPad2,4 was the die-shrunk, slightly cheaper version of the iPad 2 that was released with the third-generation 'new iPad'. The Retina-powered iPad has the designation of iPad3,x.

iPad2,5 and iPad2,6 have not been seen before, and line up with rumors of the iPad mini being released shortly:

At their first event in Australia, professional audio brand Denon and Marantz late this week announced their new range of lifestyle gear including headphones and dock speakers for personal mobile devices.

Wondering how much Apple and Samsung paid in attorney fees for the trial? Well, we don't have those numbers, but we do have a breakdown of what some of their lawyers bill and an idea of how long they had to work for different things. Apple's lawyers spent a total of 232 hours working on just one motion for sanctions against Samsung.

The bill for those hours? $116,668.50. Not bad, eh? Sounds like some of us need a change in career. And when it's all said and done, all of that money could come directly from Samsung, as often the other party is liable for attorney's fees in a lawsuit. That's minuscule when compared to the $1+ billion in damages, but only accounts for one motion. The entire trial was likely much, much more expensive.

Samsung, to not be outdone by Apple, has released information about its expenditures for three separate motions. The total, $258,200.50, is higher than Apple's, but was for three motions instead of one. Incredibly, one of Samsung's lawyers charges over $1,000 ($1,035, to be exact), which is more than a third more than Apple's highest paid lawyer.

I have a bit of bad news if you play Skyrim on PlayStation 3 and wanted the Dawnguard DLC: You may not ever get it. Bethesda has announced this simple fact. Due to technical issues, Dawnguard may never become available on PS3. It appears they have been unable to get it to run like they would like on the system.

"Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard," reads the statement, "We have tried a number of things, but none solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we've been working on either, so this issue of adding content gets even more complicated"

"This is not a problem we're positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content."

As many of you know, Microsoft is trying to integrate all of its platforms like Apple has done. This means that bring Xbox to Windows 8 is a natural extension and something Microsoft has done with the latest operating system. Today, Microsoft has announced the first wave of games from Xbox LIVE that will be available at launch on October 26.

The games will be playable on any Windows 8 device, including laptops, desktops, and tablets. Since these are Xbox games, they will feature in-game achievements just like games on the Xbox console do. They will also take advantage of other features offered through Xbox live such as leaderboards, chat, and multiplayer modes.

Finally, we're seeing a company branch out from the usual 11- and 13-inch Ultrabooks, and announce a 15-inch Ultrabook. ASUS have announced the Zenbook U500VZ which sports a 1920x1080 15-inch IPS-based panel, drool.

Thanks to its larger design, it has the room for a separate numeric keypad, if that's your thing. The entire keyboard is backlit, and all of this arrives in a package which measures just 19.7mm at its thickest point.

ASUS' Zenbook U500VZ, if you've noticed, has lost the Prime suffix, because the design of the Ultrabook isn't ultra-thin. It does however tag along the Zenbook Prime's upgraded screen and new keyboard. The ASUS Zenbook U500VZ sports Intel's Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor, an optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GPU, and storage-wise you've got some options. The Ultrabook sports two 2.5-inch drive bays, meaning you can scoop up two large SSDs if you really wanted to. ASUS offers a 128GB SSD + 500GB HDD option, if you want the best of both worlds.

Android search app Google Now has some new abilities thanks to its update on Wednesday. Google Now's latest version adds support for movie theaters, public alerts, enhanced sports information and now includes Korean support.

Google Now can show movie showtimes based on how a user runs a search, or if the GPS in your phone detects a cinema close by. Public alerts can be displayed during emergencies, and will display information and warnings about storms, earthquakes and other emergency situations.

Sports information lets users manually input their favorite teams, after which they'll receive scores and updates on their team. The latest version of Google Now is available in the Google Search app, which is available for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean users through Google's Play Store.

Things are really heating up in the Samsung vs. Apple patent lawsuits, where last week we saw Samsung slapped with a $1 billion-plus fine, as well as many of their Galaxy-branded devices removed from US retail shelves. But, and this is a big but, Samsung are waiting in the shadows, with some serious firepower.

The Korea Times is reporting that Samsung have "confirmed that it will immediately sue Apple if the latter releases products using advanced long-term evolution (LTE) mobile technology". IP research firm iRunway, earlier this year found that Samsung fully owns 10% of all LTE patents issued so far, meaning that they are definitely putting their money where their mouth is.

Now, Apple would be a bit stupid, and far behind the times to release a next-generation iPhone without LTE, so this is going to get very, very interesting. If they release the new iPhone with 3G only, we'd be looking at waiting nearly an entire year before they release another phone, which would still not include 4G. Apple don't have many moves to make here. Another thing to consider is that the Cupertino-based company already has their iPad with 4G capabilities, have Samsung been waiting for the new iPhone before they pounce?

We've seen a bunch of Windows 8-based devices announced and shown off this week thanks to the IFA event being held in Berlin right now, and Dell have just joined the ranks with a very cool looking, but different Windows 8-based convertible notebook.

The new product from Dell brings back the Duo brand, which should excite some people. It sports a netbook design that allows the display to flip vertically 180 degrees inside the frame of the display itself. I'm not sure how many times you'd be able to do this without it breaking (or at least feeling like it's going to break) but it is a seriously cool looking convertible notebook. Dell is making this outing of the Duo brand a premium device, sporting a machined aluminum carbon fiber design, as well as featuring Corning's Gorilla Glass. Welcome to the Dell XPS Duo 12.

Let's talk specs, Dell's XPS Duo 12 sports a 12-inch, 1920x1080 10-point multitouch display with edge-to-edge glass, Intel's Ivy Bridge-based Core i5 or i7 processors, 256GB of SSD storage, USB 3.0 ports, and a miniDisplayPort connector. All of this weighs in at less than three pounds, and finally, we have the OS, Microsoft's Windows 8.

LulzSec, a hacktivist group similar to Anonymous, has seen members getting arrested after the leader of the group started helping the FBI. The latest arrest is of Ronaldo Rivera (20), a hacker from Tempe, Arizona. He faces up to 15 years in prison if he is convicted on charges of conspiracy and unauthorized impairment of protected computers.

Rivera is said to have worked with Cody Kretsinger (24) in hacking Sony Picture's computers. During the hack in 2011, they obtained more than 1,000,000 users' personal information including passwords, email addresses, home addresses, and dates of birth. The hacking was announced and credit taken by LulzSec through a posting on Pastebin:

I'm sure most users have heard about the alleged eBook pricing that several publishers were involved in. Three of the major publishers that were accused of price fixing have agreed to settle with 54 District Attorneys across the United Sates. They announced the settlement in which Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins Publishers, and Simon & Schuster have agreed to pay $69 million over the alleged eBook price inflation.

"While publishers are entitled to their profits, consumers are equally entitled to a fair and open marketplace," Attorney General Jepsen said today in a statement. "This settlement will provide restitution to those customers who were harmed by this price-fixing scheme, but it also will restore competition in the eBook market for consumers' long-term benefit."

Apple has, of course, refused to to settle. Macmillan and Penguin have also declined to settle. Steve jobs could be the root cause of bringing attention to the issue when he told his biographer about offering them the agency model, which came with higher prices.

If you are shopping for a new laptop, your choices just got a bit harder. With the slew of Windows 8 laptops and tablets starting to be announced, you know have more choices than ever and you have to decide whether or not to wait until the end of October to purchase a new machine, not always something a college student can do.

The new devices by Samsung weighs in at less than 2 pounds, so it is really pretty portable. The Series 7 slate also features a full Core i5 processor, so it should perform beautifully, if not a bit on the hot side. In the press release, Samsung says, "Samsung's renowned design inspiration is evident through the device's curved edges and smooth lines"--I just hope these lines and curved edges don't get them sued by Apple.
