ASUS ROG XG 2025 external GPU: up to RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with Thunderbolt 5 drops on Feb 25
ASUS has just confirmed that its new ROG XG external graphics card solution will launch on February 25, just days from now, and will work with up to NVIDIA's new flagship GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU along with blazing-fast Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.
Thunderbolt 5 drives bandwidth up to 80Gbps (bi-directional) on the ASUS ROG XG 2025 external GPU, and as it stands, is the only external GPU product on the market with Thunderbolt 5. ASUS makes its new ROG XG with either NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU or the flagship RTX 5090 Laptop GPU.
Inside, ASUS is using an upgraded cooling solution that packs a vapor chamber and dust filter, with the company noting that it features 54% more surface cooling area, and it's quieter (by 3dB) than its predecessor (the XG Mobile 4090).
XFX RX 9070 vanilla graphics card listed on Amazon, giving us a glimpse of the purported specs
We've had a glimpse of the spec of AMD's RX 9070 vanilla GPU and its clock speeds thanks to an early Amazon product listing.
The graphics card in question is the XFX Radeon RX 9070 Swift, as noticed on Amazon by leaker @momomo_us (see the above post on X, located via VideoCardz).
XFX's Swift Gaming Edition is listed with a base clock of 1440MHz, a game clock of 2210MHz, along with a boost clock of 2700MHz.
Rumors suggest NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti GPU might be just as tricky to buy as the RTX 5080 and 5090
The release of NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti is almost upon us, and for those who were hoping against hope that the GPU might not be low on stock with the initial launch - well, we don't have good news here.
The latest rumors on how healthy supply might be - or indeed won't be - were picked up by VideoCardz, including the post you see above on X.
That's a claim from Winterherz that they've spoken to Alternate, a large retailer in Germany (viewed as second only to MindFactory by some), and the outlet suggests that the stock level of the RTX 5070 Ti will be around the same as that seen with the RTX 5080 and 5090.
NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti's being sold already as Redditor claims they've got a GPU early, for a price
NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards don't come out until February 20 (reviews are due tomorrow), but someone on Reddit has already posted a picture of their shiny new GPU they've just bought from a retailer.
Take this with a little salt, but as you can see from the above post (which was highlighted by VideoCardz), the Redditor (Qwertz012) presents photographic evidence of the ASUS Prime RTX 5070 Ti in question.
It seems that a smaller retailer (in Hungary, from what we can tell) has gone ahead and sold the GPU early. Apparently the Redditor just called up the shop and they had one in stock, and were happy to just send it out (presumably this was a couple of days ago, too, given shipping time).
Intel's next-gen Celestial GPU rumor: Xe3P architecture, fabbed with Intel Foundry, not by TSMC
Intel's next-generation Celestial discrete GPUs are rumored to feature the new Xe3P architecture, and will reportedly be fabbed using Intel Foundry instead of TSMC according to the latest reports.
In some new leaks, we're learning that Intel's next-gen Celestial discrete GPUs will be using an enhanced Xe3P architecture with huge performance improvements, produced in-house by Intel Foundry Services (IFS). On a post on X, leaker @OneRaichu said: "different from Panther Lake, Celestial dGPU looks like (it) will maybe be based on Xe3P instead of Xe3. I estimate it will (be) based on Intel's process instead of outside".
The "P" in Xe3P should stand for Performance, so we should expect the new Xe3P-based Celestial discrete GPUs to offer bigger performance improvements over the newer Battlemage GPU architecture while showing off the semiconductor prowess of Intel Foundry. It also could be the end of Intel using TSMC to make it discrete GPUs, which is an interesting turn of events.
NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti benchmark rumor suggests a GPU that'll be closer to RTX 5080 than expected
NVIDIA's incoming RTX 5070 Ti graphics card might turn out to be a smidge over 15% faster than its predecessor, or that's what some purported benchmark leaks are now suggesting.
VideoCardz grabbed the scoop with this one, airing figures from an unnamed reviewer for the RTX 5070 Ti which pitted the inbound GPU against the RTX 4070 Ti - with the RTX 5080 included alongside both of these models for an illuminating current-gen perspective.
The benchmarks themselves are drawn from 3DMark, and as ever, we'd be foolish to put as much stock in synthetic tests as opposed to real-world gaming benchmarks, which is where the true story of a GPU is told.
NVIDIA RTX 5050 sighting at EEC sparks hope that a true budget Blackwell GPU could be inbound
PC gamers on a tighter budget have just had their hopes raised that NVIDIA might produce a truly affordable Blackwell graphics card in the form of an RTX 5050 desktop GPU.
This stems from a filing with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) by Zotac, which encompasses the existing Blackwell GPUs, and soon to be released RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 models, along with RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 (still unofficial, but heavily rumored for a release in the near future - supposedly in April, or that's the latest guesstimate).
The real eye-opener here was the mention of an RTX 5050, though, which hasn't even been rumored (not on the desktop - there has been speculation about the GPU in laptop form numerous times).
GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT already purchased, unboxed, and up for sale for $1600
AMD's big RDNA 4 and Radeon RX 9070 XT reveal is next week on February 28. This event will formally unveil the new architecture, its improvements over RDNA 3, pricing, performance, and more. With the Radeon RX 9070 XT's direct competitor set to be NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5070 Ti ($749), many are hoping that if performance is on par with NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti, then AMD has a real chance to make an impact with a lower price point.
However, with listings of Radeon RX 9070 XT models like the premium XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT OC listed for $849 on Amazon - which could be a placeholder - there's word that OC models pushing clock speeds of 3+ GHz could see performance get closer to the GeForce RTX 5080 than its RTX 5070 Ti competition. This would mean that if AMD kept the Radeon RX 8800 XT naming for the flagship RDNA 4 GPU, it would have made more sense.
Interestingly, since AMD's RDNA 4 was a no-show at CES 2025, where we got to see models from various partners up close, there have also been several reports of cards already being at retailers. With that, someone in Slovakia put up a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC model for sale last week for the equivalent of $1600 USD.
Earthquakes might be to blame for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series shortages
The release of the RTX 50-series GPUs has been described as a "paper launch," as it's been almost impossible for hungry gamers to get their hands on the new graphics cards. But why are the latest GPUs so elusive?
It should be noted that we will likely never learn the official reason why the RTX 50-series GPUs (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090/5080) have such a low stock. However, there are tidbits of information that paint a reasonably clear picture of the current situation. I believe there are two big factors contributing to the global shortages of these GPUs, and they are earthquakes destroying TSMC wafers, and the Chinese New Year. Here's what I've pieced together.
It was reported at the end of January that Taiwan experienced a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that resulted in TSMC employees having to evacuate and pause operations for a few days. Reports around that time indicated TSMC's Fab 14, an older facility that is less earthquake-prone than the company's newer facilities, was hit pretty hard, with around half of the equipment in the fab being affected and reportedly more than 30,000 wafers from Fab 14A and 14B rendered unusable. Notably, Fab 14 produces 4nm and 5nm chips, and NVIDIA's Blackwell GPUs are 4nm.
AMD exec teases Radeon RX 90700.05XTXT Max GPU: 320GB VRAM, 1.21 gigawatts PSU required
AMD has been rumored to be cooking up a new Radeon RX 9070 XTX graphics card with 32GB of VRAM, and now Consumer and Gaming Marketing boss Frank Azor has weighed in on X:
In a new post on X, Azor confirmed the news (sarcastically) saying that the Radeon RX 9070 XTX is actually called the Radeon RX 90700.05XTXT Max and it doesn't have 32GB of VRAM, but rather 320GB of VRAM. Not only that, but the card requires 1.21 gigawatts of PSU to run it, using new 96-pin power connectors.
Azor was asked if the new Radeon RX 90700.05XTXT Max will beat NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5090 at 600W, to which Azor replied: "only in raster". But it was a post asking "no Max+ at the end? Fail much" to which Azor replied: "Always a Marketing Disaster" (Always a Marketing Disaster = AMD).
AMD could release Radeon RX 9070 XTX with 32GB of GDDR6: double the VRAM for AI workloads
AMD is rumored to be cooking up a new Radeon RX 9070 XTX graphics card -- that additional X is significant -- with rumors swirling that the RX 9070 XTX would feature double the VRAM: 32GB of GDDR6 memory ready for AI workloads.
In recent rumors, we've been hearing about the new Radeon RX 9070 XTX with 32GB of GDDR6 memory would NOT be a new professional-focused card, but rather a gaming GPU that would have double the VRAM and aimed at AI professionals (and priced for them, too). AMD has been quick to deny the reports of the new RDNA 4 card with 32GB VRAM, too.
Normally, we see XTX releases featuring higher GPU clocks, higher memory clocks and more... but the purported Radeon RX 9070 XTX might just be simply double the VRAM (9070 XT = 16GB GDDR6, with 9070 XTX = 32GB GDDR6). We might not see any other hardware improvements, as AMD is using the full Navi 48 GPU die on the Radeon RX 9070 XT as it is.

XFX's upcoming custom Radeon RX 9070 XT Mercury OC graphics card has appeared, with a new listing on Amazon teasing a $849 price and March 6 release date.
In a new post by leaker @momomo_us on X, we have the XFX Mercury AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Magnetic Air Edition graphics card with a release date of March 6, 2025, and a price of $849.99. This looks like a premium RDNA 4 card with a boost GPU clock of 3.1GHz and the expected 16GB of GDDR6 memory.
The $849 pricing is a bit high for most people's liking, considering NVIDIA is about to unleash its new GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card starting at $749... meaning AMD will have an uphill battle trying to sell the Radeon RX 9070 XT for $849. We could be looking at Canadian pricing here as well, so keep that in mind... meaning the RX 9070 XT could fall into the $599-$649 price range, lining up with the exciting leaks that flagship RDNA 4 could start at $599.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 supply will be 'stupidly high soon' leaving scalpers to 'cry so hard'
NVIDIA's new ultra-enthusiast GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card has had some immense demand, but stock hasn't been great worldwide... and it seems that is about to change, and it will have scalpers "cry so hard".
In a new post on X by leaker MEGAsizeGPU, we're learning that NVIDIA has purchased "shit loads" of TSMC yields for B200, but "now the market doesn't want that much B200, and RTX 40 is retired... the only solution is to make as much RTX 50 as possible to cover the unused yield of B200".
This was in a reply to a previous tweet from the leaker who said: "the supply of RTX 5090 will be stupidly high soon. Scalpers will cry so hard".
NVIDIA prototype PCBs for RTX 4090, RTX 5090 had 4 x 16-pin connectors: up to 2400W of power
NVIDIA's new super-enthusiast GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card is one of the most power-hungry graphics cards on the planet, but the company had some wild PCBs with 4 x 16-pin power connectors and up to 2400W of power delivery.
In some new photos posted to the Chiphell forums, we're learning that NVIDIA was working on prototypes including an AD102 "Ada Lovelace" prototype that was probably used for the GeForce RTX 4090. This prototype PCB featured not one, not two, but 4 x 16-pin power connectors and a 45-phase power delivery which is bonkers.
Each of the 16-pin power connectors can use up to 600W of power, so with 4 of them on-board you'd be looking at an insane 2400W of power delivery. We saw nothing like this on the market, outside of a few custom RTX 4090 graphics cards that featured dual 16-pin power connectors (with up to 1200W of power consumption).
AMD's new Radeon RX 9070 XT retail packaging teased: flagship RDNA 4 requires 900W or more
AMD's next-gen Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card has been spotted with its retail packaging, where the new flagship RDNA 4 card has a 900W power supply requirement.
In a new post on X by @Gawroski we have our first picture of the retail packaging for AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card, with the box saying that the minimum PSU requirement is 900W, which is 100W more than the flagship RDNA 3-powered Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
The retail packaging also provides some more details on what to expect from the Radeon RX 9070 XT: the new RDNA 4 GPU architecture, with 64 Compute Units (3rd Gen RT + 2nd Gen AI Accelerators), AMD HYPR-RX, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, and new DisplayPort 2.1a connectivity.

NVIDIA has confirmed the launch dates for the GeForce RTX 5070 Series of RTX Blackwell gaming GPUs. The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti will debut on February 20th, starting from $749 USD, and the GeForce RTX 5070 will launch on March 5th, starting from $549 USD. These are the next two mid-range and enthusiast models, following the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 launches at the end of January.
The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is the first to arrive on the scene, the successor to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER - with a cutdown version of the GB203 chip of the GeForce RTX 5080. The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti won't be getting a Founders Edition model, so NVIDIA's partners like ASUS, MSI, and GIGABYTE will offer MSRP models in addition to OC variants.
The GeForce RTX 5070 will launch with a Founders Edition model at a lower price than the previous generation's GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 SUPER models. The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti will ship with 16GB of fast GDDR7 memory, and the GeForce RTX 5070 will ship with 12GB of GDDR7 memory.
SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 9070 series 'Nitro+' custom RDNA 4 spotted: triple-slot, hidden connectors
SAPPHIRE is working on its new Radeon RX 9000 series "Nitro+" graphics cards, custom versions of RDNA 4 that AMD just announced it will be unveiling on February 28, wtih a retail launch in early March.
In a new post on X by leaker @Olrak29_ we're learning that the SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 9070 Nitro+ graphics cards (I'm sure in both RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 form) with the next-gen Nitro+ cooler being, well, huge. It will take up considerable space inside of your system, with a massive triple-fan cooling design that draws in and pushes a ton of air across the heatsink and multiple aluminum fins, joined by copper heat pipes.
SAPPHIRE is using a tweaked design on the Radeon RX 9070 Nitro+ graphics cards, with an interesting champagne gold color aesthetic, with multiple cut-outs on the sides that have the "Radeon" logo and Sapphire "Nitro+" badges. Inside of the shroud, there are multiple RGB LEDs that emit RGB lighting underneath... but then SAPPHIRE has hidden power connectors.
AMD officially announces Radeon RX 9000 series 'RDNA 4' reveal for February 28, launch in March
AMD has officially announced it will unveil its next-generation Radeon RX 9000 series "RDNA 4" graphics cards on February 28, with the new cards hitting shelves in early March.
In a new post on X by VP and GM of Ryzen CPUs and Radeon graphics at AMD, David McAfee, said: "The wait is almost over. Join us on February 28 at 8 AM EST for the reveal of the next-gen @AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series. Get ready to make it yours when it hits shelves in early March. We can expect the new AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 graphics cards powered by the next-gen RDNA 4 GPU architecture, with the flagship RX 9070 XT rocking 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and a rumored price of $599. If AMD can nail that elusive $599 price for its flagship Radeon RX 9070 XT, it'll come in $150 cheaper than NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card that starts at $749.
It's not just the GeForce RTX 5090... we've now got melting connectors on the RTX 5080
NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics card was inside of a Redditor's PC, with another melted 16-pin power connector joining the issues of the RTX 5090 FE and its melted power connectors from a couple of days ago.
This seems to be the first reported GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card having a melted power connector, with Redditor r/Ambitious_Ladder1320 posting on the ASUS subreddit that he had a similar melted power connector issue with his new RTX 5080 Founders Edition powered by the ASUS ROG Loki PSU.
He said that the GPU had a flashing red light, which is an indicator of incorrect seating of a pin on his connector, noting that he did connect the connectors properly, trying again after turning off his PC. The same error didn't reappear, but his monitor resolution and refresh rate were massively downgraded, with his RTX 5080 FE running in PCIe 3.0 x3 mode, which is totally wrong.
GeForce RTX 5060 launch pushed back to April due to 'chip supply constraints'
Earlier today, we reported on the GeForce RTX 5070's launch being delayed to early March, which would see the mid-range GeForce RTX 4070 successor arrive alongside AMD's Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT combo. Although NVIDIA hasn't confirmed this timeline, additional information from insider and leaker on @mingchikuo notes that the delay is due to "chip supply constraints" for the GeForce RTX 50 Series, which is currently causing shortages for the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.
With that, the mainstream GeForce RTX 5060 and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti cards are now on track for an April 2025 debut. NVIDIA hasn't yet confirmed the existence of the GeForce RTX 5060 Series, with the RTX Blackwell announcement at CES 2025 only covering the RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, and flagship RTX 5090. However, inside information has previously stated that the RTX 5060 Series was on track for a March launch.
According to the source, mass production for GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 GPUs was on track for February and March of this year, but this has now been delayed to March and April, respectively. There's no mention of the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which we've previously reported is expected to launch next week on February 20.
