Fable creator and notorious over-promiser Peter Molyneux is making a new game...but don't expect any real info on the project any time soon.

There's no one quite like Peter Molyneux in the games industry. His UK-based studio Lionhead (now defunct) gained mass popularity with the Fable series of games, but Molyneux's legacy is sadly tarnished by his penchant for over-hyping games, promising details and features that never showed up, and ultimately misrepresenting games that were nowhere near finished.

Since the explosive Rock Paper Shotgun interview in 2015 where Molyneux declared he 'doesn't have a reputation in the games industry any more,' the developer has been flying mostly under the radar. The last we heard is his studio, 22 Cans, was working on a strange crypto-based game called Legacy for Gala Games. Now Molyneux is back for another title...but he's not ready to divulge details just yet.

A team of Australian scientists have discovered an incredible alternative to throwing out coffee grounds and adding to the exponential issue of organic waste.

A new study published in the Journal of Cleaner Production by a team of Australian scientists details a process utilizing coffee grounds that typically ends up in landfills around the world. Notably, 10 billion kilograms, or 10 million tonnes of coffee grounds, are disposed of each year, and the team behind the study proposes reducing the amount of natural sand extracted around the world that's meeting the exponential demand of the construction industry with organic waste such as coffee grounds.

The team took coffee ground and heated them to 660° F, as coffee ground by themselves can't be added to concrete mixture due to them leaking chemicals that make the structure weaker. However, after being baked at 660° F, the team was left with no organic moles and a carbon-rich substance called biochar. This is capable of being mixed with a cement matrix and produced a durable cement mixture that's strong and useable.

A new study published in the journal Communications Biology has detailed the discovery of an ancient ape skull in Turkey, thus challenging the widely held theory that humans originated in Africa.

The new study details the discovery of a part of an ape skull that was found by archaeologists in Cankiri, Turkey, and its significance is derived from its estimated age, which is 8.7 million years ago, along with its location. Notably, hominins, which include African apes and eventually humans, are dated to have appeared in Africa around 7 million years ago.

The ancient ape skull called Anadoluvius turkae now challenges the theory that human ancestors, African apes, came exclusively from Africa, even going as far as to suggest that hominins may have evolved in Europe first and then migrated to Africa. The researchers write that to prove this theory, additional fossils need to be found dating between the two aforementioned eras (seven and eight million years ago), and a link needs to be established.

Microsoft's latest hire could improve Xbox's diminished presence in Japan.

Xbox is incredibly unpopular in Japan. The competition is simply too fierce. The overseas country is home to two of the industry's Big 3 with both Nintendo and Sony having established their billion-dollar games businesses for decades. Microsoft, on the other hand, is an outlier and has had a very hard time breaking into the Japanese market.

That could change thanks to the latest exec that Microsoft recently brought on board. According to Windows Central, Microsoft has recruited Mena Kato to serve as a kind of Japanese liaison to bridge the gap between the American company and Asian consumers. Kato looks to be instrumental in Microsoft's efforts towards the East as the Director of Japan Partnerships for the Xbox games division.

The fact that Bethesda Game Studios has fully embraced the modding community over the years is wonderful, and it's a tradition that will continue with Starfield - a game that, like the studio's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, will end up being one of the most modded titles out there. But the news that development on 'Starfield Script Extender' has already been completed means that we're on the cusp of getting a number of game-changing and potentially amazing mods to the game in the coming months. Like the 'Skyrim Script Extender,' this too "expands scripting capabilities and adds additional functionality," so odds are it will be as essential as that.

The Skyrim Script Extender or SKSE led to the amazing PC-centric SkyUI overhaul that became a must-have mod for the game, and with people already complaining about Starfield's similarly minimal but functional UI - this will allow modders to get to work on overhauling it similarly. However, there's a catch.

A team of biologists was shocked when they discovered the longest-living vertebrae thousands of miles away from their natural habitat.

That vertebrae is none other than the Greenland shark, a species of shark that can live between 250 and 500 years, and its strange appearance was brought to biologists' attention when they were tagging tiger sharks off the coast of Belize. A line was set in Belize's protected Glover's Reef Atoll, and upon returning to the line, the biologists noticed it had moved several miles away into waters as deep as 2,000 feet.

The team photographed the extremely rare catch and determined that it was "most likely" a Greenland shark, describing its appearance as "very old" and "like something that would exist in prehistoric times." Notably, this species of shark typically lives thousands of feet below the surface, and typically thrives in Arctic waters where it's extremely cold. So, why was it in the Caribbean? The team speculates that since the reef has a sharp slope that stretches some 9,500 feet down, there is a prime environment for a Greenland shark to live.

Starfield is out this week, even though it seems like the whole PC gaming world has been playing the Early Access version over the past week, and with Intel Arc support reportedly spotty (at best), the driver team at Intel has pushed out a driver update specific to Starfield. And according to the Intel Graphics team, there's another one on the way later this week.

"The driver engineering team is still hard at work on further stability and performance improvements," writes Intel on Twitter/X. "We want to offer fixes for this title as quickly as possible." Stability issues specific to a single vendor are not great, though kudos to the Intel team for working hard to release a new driver and continue to improve the game's performance.

The Starfield driver for Intel Arc graphics cards that just dropped is a big one, as it significantly reduces loading times and resolves several "game instability and visual artifacts." However, as more work needs to be done, Intel advises playing the game using the 'High' preset or lower - so no Ultra then.

Notably, Bowden completed three spacewalks, who was joined by Hoburg for two, and Alenyadi for one, where they completed preparation and installed one International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays used to augment power generation for the floating laboratory. The crew returned to Earth in SpaceX's Dragon capsule, marking the fourth flight for the capsule named Endeavour.

A warning has been issued by University of Alberta Faculty of Law assistant professor Dr. Gideon Christian regarding authorities implementing racially biased artificial intelligence systems.

The warning was issued in the form of a press release published by the institution, and Christian reminds the public that while technology may seem unbiased, there are very real instances where it is. Notably, Christian has already claimed that AI-powered face recognition technology is damaging to people of color, and that this technology, while appearing to be unbiased, has the capacity to replicate human biases. Furthermore, Christian says that AI-powered face recognition technology has a 99% accuracy rate in identifying white male faces, while maintaining an accuracy rate of just 35% for faces of black women.

Ahead of the launch of AMD's new Radeon RX 7800 XT and Radeon RX 7700 XT, it looks like official benchmark results have leaked - via HDTechnologia and Videocardz. According to the publications, these detailed performance numbers (in that they cover a wide range of titles) come from AMD's official reviewer's guide for the new graphics cards.

The announcement of Apple's Vision Pro has caused many of the company's competitors to follow suit with their own version of a high-end mixed-reality headset.

Now we are starting to hear rumblings of a new product coming out of Meta and LG, which, according to Korean outlet Maekyung, is being birthed out of a relationship that formed between the two companies following the unveiling of Apple's Vision Pro. This new product is reportedly said to adopt the "Pro" tag and is expected to be called the Quest Pro 4 Pro. Notably, this high-end headset is expected to be released sometime in 2025 and will be cheaper than Apple's Vision Pro, which has a hefty price tag of $3,499.

Before the market is blessed with another high-end mixed reality headset, Meta will be releasing new variants of its already established headset line-up. However, Meta's new headsets will be targeting entry-level prices, aiming at below the $200 mark. These headsets are expected to be released sometime in 2024. While there hasn't been any official pricing on the purported Quest 4 Pro, there are some murmurings from NH Investment & Securities, which said that Meta and LG will release a premium mixed reality headset around the $2,000 price point.

A movie insider has confirmed that the developers behind the immensely popular Hogwarts Legacy are already working on a sequel.

The confirmation comes from reputable movie leaker MyTimeToShineHello, who took to the platform formerly called Twitter, now X, to post that sources have informed the account that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is "in the works". It can be assumed that the source of the leaker is an employee within Warner Bros., especially considering MyTimeToShineHello has leaked things from the studio in the past.

Unfortunately, the movie insider didn't reveal any specific details about the upcoming title, but considering how popular Hogwarts Legacy is/was, it's not surprising to hear about a sequel being worked on. For those that don't know, Hogwarts Legacy is the best-selling game for this year, with $1.3 billion in sales, and since it was so popular, it would make sense that developers behind the project are already working on the next installment in the series.

A tipster named Para Guglani has leaked the full specifications for the upcoming Xiaomi 13T Pro ahead of its launch, which is likely to happen on September 13.

Guglani took to his X account and published images showcasing all of the specifications for the upcoming device, revealing that the smartphone is coming with a Dimensity 92000 processor, a choice between 12GB or 16GB on the RAM front, a 256GB, 512Gb, and 1TB storage options. As for color options, Xiaomi will be offering two variants - Classic Black and a Light Blue option. Moving on to other specifications, such as the display, Xiaomi has equipped the 13T Pro with a 1.5K OLED panel that's clocked up to a 144Hz refresh rate.

The 13T Pro also has a peak brightness of 2600 nits, with 2880Hz PWM dimming and HDR 10+ support. Next up is the camera specifications. The 13T Pro includes a 50MP Sony IMX707 main camera, which is f/1.9, optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 13MP Omnivision OV138 ultra-wide lens with an aperture of f/2.2. There is also a 50MP Omnivision OVSOD telephoto sensor, along with a 20MP Sony IMX596 front camera. If you are wondering what kind of waterproofing the 13T Pro has, reports indicate it comes with IP68 certification and a 5,000 mAh battery with 120-watt fast charging.

Bethesda Game Studios RPGs and mods go hand-in-hand, especially when looking at the developer's history in the PC gaming space - Morrowing, Oblivion, Skyrim, and most recently, Fallout 4. Some of the most moddable and modded games of all time, from simple texture updates to visual overhauls, redesigned UI, and even brand-new games.

Starfield will follow suit, thanks to the epic space RPG being built with the next iteration of the Creation Engine. Ahead of the launch of official mod kits and tools, as we saw with Fallout 4, based on the modding community's familiarity with the Creation Engine, we're already starting to see several Starfield mods over on Nexus Mods.

As of writing, the top mods are all about performance, with the number one mod for Starfield at launch being the 'Starfield Upscaler,' which replaces AMD FSR 2 with DLSS or XeSS. It's a straightforward installation that requires FSR 2 to be enabled and then brings up a menu in-game to override AMD's tech with either NVIDIA's or Intel's.

Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake-S Refresh lineup will launch soon, with the flagship Intel Core i9 14900K CPU of the new 14th Gen Core desktop processors leading the pack. Featuring the same 24-core count of the Core i9 13900K (with 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores), the most significant difference looks to be an overall increase in clock speed to 6.0 GHz.

And with that, we can expect a decent performance boost compared to the 13th gen flagships - according to leaked synthetic CPU-Z benchmark results from @wxnod. Naturally, as pre-release and unconfirmed figures, these results should be taken with a dose of salt - but as an indicator of what to expect, things are looking good for Intel's 14th gen flagship.

The new Core i9 14900K outperforms the Core i9 13900K in single-thread performance by up to 9.7%, and it also manages to outdo the beefed-up Core i9 13900KS by around 3.5%. To add some icing to the performance cake, the 14900K also beats the 13900K in multi-threaded performance by roughly the same margin.

After several leaks showcasing and detailing the entire product, Lenovo has officially announced its PC gaming handheld that will compete against Valve's Steam Deck and the ROG Ally from ASUS. Like the ROG Ally, the Legion Go is a Windows-based handheld powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 Series processors.

Per the official announcement, Lenovo will offer various configurations for the Legion Go, with up to an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, up to 16GB LPDDR5X (7500MHz) RAM, and up to 1TB of internal PCIe Gen4 SSD storage - starting from USD 799. And with that, we assume that the baseline model will sport the lower-end Ryzen Z1 processor with a 256Gb or 512GB internal storage configuration.

The baseline price is undoubtedly higher than the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, and this comes down to Lenovo opting for a robust and premium design that features detachable controllers (ala the Nintendo Switch) with a large 8.8-inch QHD+ (2560 x 1600) IPS display with a refresh rate of 144Hz and peak-brightness of 500-nits. Not to mention the cutting-edge APU, memory, and high-capacity 2-cell 49.2WHr battery.

Although designed for professionals, the new ThinkVision 27 3D Monitor from Lenovo is a fascinating new display capable of presenting a glasses-free 3D image in addition to a 4K 3840 x 2160 2D image with an overall peak brightness of 310 nits and excellent Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 color accuracy.

That is to say that you're getting a pretty great monitor for professional work involving any visual design, with the added benefit of 3D without the need to put on 3D glasses. The ThinkVision 27 3D Monitor goes 3D without additional hardware or processing; it projects two independent images with real-time eye tracking to create a stereoscopic image. Due to the dual-projection, Lenovo lists the 3D resolution at 1920 x 2160.

But, it'll require software support, which Lenovo includes to ensure compatibility with various apps. "Combined with its 3D Explorer software, the new 3D monitor forms a comprehensive ecosystem for 3D creation and consumption," writes Lenovo. "The solution offers an easy platform for users to access all their 3D apps, together with the capability to optimize work and comfort while enhancing control and efficiency."

Yoshi-P officially confirms that Final Fantasy XVI is coming to PC.

It's been a long time since we've heard Square Enix talk about FFXVI's PC port, but now the publisher has broken the silence. Yes, Final Fantasy XVI is indeed coming to PC at some point.

The news was dropped at a recent PAX West 2023 panel where game producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida had a quick update: "Finally, while Final Fantasy XVI was released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, we are aware that many of you have been asking for a PC version," Yoshi-P said on the stream.

Starfield features huge towering mechs lifted straight out of an early version of Armored Core, but you can't actually use them (yet?)

One of the first things you'll notice about Starfield is that it doesn't have vehicles. Players have to run or jetpack everywhere they go--well, boost pack--and there's no options to create land vehicles or flying vehicles that can zoom you through the skies. Starfield doesn't even have alien mounts. It's disappointing and maybe it'll change in the future...but for now that's a reality.

So when you come across gigantic metal mech warriors throughout your space adventures, it can be pretty exciting at first. When I found my first mech, I thought maybe, just maybe, I would be able to enter one like a giant suit of power armor from Fallout. Sadly, that isn't the case. You can't actually get inside of the mechs nor can you pilot them...but they're still really interesting to look at.

Apple is about to announce its next-generation iPhone, alongside the new Apple Watch and perhaps even a surprise reveal.

Apple has announced that its Wonderlust event will take place on September 12, and judging by the imagery the company has released, combined with rampant excited speculation online, we have already gotten some hints at what to expect to see at the event. Each year, Apple announces a new iPhone, and this year, we are up to the iPhone 15. According to online speculation, the above image of the Apple logo paired with the tagline "Wonderlust" is a hint to the colors of the next-generation iPhone.

Of course, it won't just be one iPhone announced at the event; we can expect an entirely new line-up to be unveiled - iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Additionally, we can expect some major upgrades coming to the new iPhone, with the inclusion of the A17 Bionic chip, which is the first 3-nanometer processor in a smartphone, an action button that's programmable (within Apple's parameters), a new titanium frame, thinner bezels, USB-C charging port, battery life improvements, Periscope zoom lens, gray/dark blue colors, more storage, and a higher price.
