GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs will feature revolutionary Neural Rendering Capabilities
NVIDIA is preparing to formally announce its new GeForce RTX 50 Series at CES 2025 in a couple of weeks, with the GeForce RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, and flagship GeForce RTX 5090 set to be unveiled. Multiple leaks from NVIDIA's partners have confirmed this lineup, and a new leak from INNO3D hints at a revolutionary AI-powered technology coming along with more.
This is our first glimpse at what could be DLSS 4, with the information from INNO3D covering what to expect with the GeForce RTX 50 Series and its AI capabilities for gaming and content creation. According to INNO3D, the GeForce RTX 50 Series will feature Neural Rendering Capabilities, revolutionizing how "graphics are processed and displayed."
This is in addition to DLSS offering "even better image quality and higher frame rates" and enhanced ray tracing with improved RT cores. It doesn't stop there, as the next generation of GeForce RTX graphics cards will also be leveraging AI to improve power efficiency and thermal performance when gaming.
NVIDIA App is impacting performance for GeForce gamers, but there's an easy fix
Over the past few days, several GeForce RTX gamers have taken to social media to report a significant dip in PC gaming performance across various titles, the culprit being the new NVIDIA App. Recently launched in Version 1.0 form, the NVIDIA App replaces the GeForce Experience app for all customization, driver updates, performance monitoring, game optimization, and more.
With reports of up to a 15% loss in performance when playing specific titles, according to a Tom's Hardware investigation, it's a serious issue that has seen NVIDIA respond with a forum post acknowledging that it's aware of "reported performance issue[s]" related to the NVIDIA App. The good news is that an easy fix will restore those missing frames ahead of Team Green releasing an official update to the app.
As seen in an additional investigation by Hardware Unboxed, which found a more modest 3% performance loss in the games it tested with the NVIDIA App installed, the issue is related to the app's overlay and 'Game Filters and Photo Mode' settings.
NVIDIA's next-gen B300, GB300 have 'severe thermal issues' but there's plenty of time to fix it
NVIDIA's next-gen B300 and GB300 AI GPUs are currently being tested, with some news that AOS's DrMOS were experiencing "severe thermal issues".
In a new post on X and a more detailed post on Medium, insider Ming-Chi Kuo says that the DrMOS chips are currently being tested for NVIDIA's new GB300/B300 system, and that they're AOS's 5x5 and MPS's 5x6, with Kuo's supply chain survey indicating that AOS's DrMOS were experiencing severe thermal issues.
Kuo said: "With GB300/B300 still some time away from mass production, This event doesn't mean that AOS can't eventually benefit from GB300/B300. However, to avoid repeating delays seen with GB200/B200, NVIDIA's efforts to seek alternative 5x5 DrMOS suppliers or to accelerate testing of MPS's 5x6 DrMOS could impact the market's high expectations for AOS's orders in the near term".
Analyst: Switch 2 to follow Switch sales trends, Switch 2 to sell more than 80 million by 2028
Analyst firm DFC Intelligence predicts that Switch 2 sales will be in line with the sales trends from the original Switch handheld-console hybrid.
Nintendo is poised to reveal its new Switch 2 console sometime soon. Reports say it'll happen in January, and others indicate that the Switch 2 could launch in March 2025 (the original released in March 2017). If the current Switch family is any indicator, the Switch 2 will sell like gangbusters, potentially even following the strong initial sales of its predecessor.
One analyst firm has laid out their expectations for the Nintendo Switch 2. In a new update post, DFC Intelligence expects the Switch 2 to sell anywhere from 15 to 17 million units in its first year of availability. By 2028, the group believes the Switch 2 will command an installed base of some 80 million users.
NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5080 expected to feature faster 30Gbps GDDR7 memory, 400W power
NVIDIA is expected to debut its second-fastest next-gen GeForce RTX 50 series GPU with faster GDDR7 memory, with the new GeForce RTX 5080 expected to feature 16GB of GDDR7 memory at 32Gbps.
In a new post by Benchlife, we're learning that the faster 30Gbps GDDR7 memory modules will be used on the RTX 5080, after previous rumors said they'd use (even faster) 32Gbps GDDR7 memory. This means that NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5080 with 16GB of GDDR7 at 30Gbps on a 256-bit memory bus will provide 960GB/sec of memory bandwidth, close to the flagship RTX 4090.
NVIDIA's current-gen GeForce RTX 4080 features 716GB/sec of memory bandwidth, while the RTX 4080 SUPER features a slightly faster 736GB/sec memory bandwidth, so the RTX 5080 with 960GB/sec memory bandwidth means it'll only have 5% slower memory bandwidth than the current-gen RTX 4090 (which has a much wider memory bus, too).
Xbox will continue making console innovations, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella promises
It sounds like Xbox consoles are safe, at least for another hardware generation.
Hardware has always been a sore spot for Microsoft. Although the original Xbox launched to surprising numbers, and the Xbox 360 went neck and neck against the PS3, Microsoft has always missed one very important part of consumer electronics sales: Profit.
Typically, companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will launch their consoles at a loss and make up for it via games, subscriptions, services, etc. Over time, Sony and Nintendo will sell their systems at a profit. But Microsoft never makes its money back from Xbox hardware, and every generation of Xbox console has been unprofitable and sold at a loss (clarification that Xbox as a games division is still profitable).
Microsoft's $75 billion Activision Blizzard strategy is in 'full force,' CEO Satya Nadella says
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reiterates Xbox's cross-platform strategy with investors and shareholders.
In a recent annual shareholders meeting, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella shared his thoughts on the current state of Xbox, and how the definition of the brand has changed so broadly that it's sparked a memorable marketing campaign.
"I'm feeling very, very good about where we are in gaming," Nadella told Microsoft stakeholders.
NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU may get faster VRAM than RTX 5090, but 16GB looks shaky for future-proofing
NVIDIA's incoming RTX 5080 will benefit from the fastest video RAM of the entire next-gen Blackwell range, going by a fresh leak.
This comes from Benchlife as highlighted by Harukaze5719 on X (hat tip to VideoCardz), and the theory is that the RTX 5080 will have 16GB of GDDR7 - as previously rumored - but it'll be 30Gbps memory.
All the other RTX 5000 models, including the flagship RTX 5090, are set to use the standard 28Gbps flavor of GDDR7. So, the RTX 5080 is going to be unique in that respect.

Multiple Nintendo insiders point to same month for Switch 2 unveiling
Rumors circulating about Nintendo's upcoming console, the successor to the immensely popular Nintendo Switch, have seemingly reached fever pitch, with multiple Nintendo insiders, and a leaker that has recently gained a lot of attention, are all pointing to a specific month next year for Nintendo's official unveiling.
The latest has come from Nintentalk and Nintendo Prime, who both took to X, formerly Twitter, to say they have heard from insiders at major 3rd parties associated with the upcoming console that Nintendo plans to unveil the Switch 2 in early January. Additionally, the source that spoke to Nintentalk said, "Get ready to play modern AAA offerings on your Nintendo system in 2025".
Furthermore, Chris Dring, a 17-year video game journalist, said during the GamesIndustry.biz podcast that he has heard "chatter" that Nintendo could reveal the Switch 2 at the beginning of the new year. The corroboration of the purported early January release window doesn't stop there, as it was only a few days ago a Reddit user with the handle "NextHandheld" showed evidence to Reddit moderators to back up their claims they have access to a final release model of the Nintendo Switch 2. Among a slew of other things, the leaker went on to claim that they had heard Nintendo was planning an unveiling for January.

Budget GeForce RTX 4010 GPU spotted in China, but it's not real
The YouTube channel Budget-Builds Official got its hands on a budget GeForce RTX 4010 graphics card to put it to the test. The only problem is that the GeForce RTX 4010 doesn't exist because it's not a real NVIDIA GeForce RTX option for desktops. With the card shipped from China, it turns out that it's a working GPU that delivers surprisingly impressive performance.
And no, it's not an unannounced RTX 4010; it's something else. Shenzen Bitland created the "RTX 4010" compact single-slot GPU with a simple blower-fan design. Surprisingly, the GPU works when connected to a PC, even if it requires a dated VGA cable. As seen in the full video breakdown, GPU-Z cannot detect the GPU (naturally); however, it does confirm that it features 4GB of GDDR6 memory on a 64-bit bus.
With unoptimized but working GeForce drivers (using a version designed for the RTX 4090D), the "GeForce RTX 4010" is a repurposed Ampere-based RTX A400 workstation graphics card. And one that does an okay job playing some modern PC games.

Nintendo Switch 2 leaker points to new Mario Kart game as launch title
Another day, another Nintendo Switch 2 leak, and this time around, it has come in the form of an anonymous Reddit user that has attracted quite a lot of attention on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit after showing evidence of their claims to a subreddit moderator.
The purported leak comes from Reddit user "NextHandheld" who took to the subreddit on December 14 to announce they have managed to get their hands on a "final release" Nintendo Switch 2. The user goes on to say that subreddit users can "Ask me anything" and that proof will be posted on Christmas Day. The post quickly gained quite a lot of attention with many users reporting the post as false as the user didn't provide any evidence within their post that their claims were legitimate.
But things started taking shape differently in the comment section after a r/NintendoSwitch2 moderator commented saying NextHandheld provided them evidence of information that currently isn't public, and that they didn't want to share the evidence because it could reveal their identity to people around them. Take the following information with a healthy amount of skepticism, and know the only official information about a next-generation Nintendo console is that an announcement for one is happening this fiscal year, which ends in April 2025.

GeForce RTX 5060 Ti will feature 16GB of VRAM, baseline RTX 5060 will stick with 8GB
With a recent unintentional leak from ZOTAC GAMING confirming that NVIDIA is on the cusp of announcing four GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards at CES 2025, from the GeForce RTX 5070 up to the flagship GeForce RTX 5090, we've now got some early info on NVIDIA's more mainstream Blackwell cards courtesy of Wccftech.
The report, citing sources, details the memory configuration and chips used in the upcoming mainstream PC gaming GeForce RTX 5060 and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti combo. According to the report, both GPUs will use the same GB206 core with a high-speed GDDR7 memory interface on a 128-bit bus. The shift to GDDR7 will increase memory bandwidth by up to 65% compared to the GeForce RTX 4060, so we can expect a decent improvement over current-gen performance.
Where it gets interesting is VRAM capacity, especially in light of NVIDIA releasing two versions of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti - an 8GB and 16GB model - and the recent launch of the mainstream Intel Arc B580 'Battlemage' GPU which includes 12GB of GDDR6 memory.
Chinese modders show off an awesome PlayStation 5 laptop: built-in 4K display, costs $2750
Chinese modders have just shown off their custom PlayStation 5 laptop, which packs the innards of the PS5 and uses 3D-printed parts to make a custom cooling system, a built-in 17.3-inch 4K 60Hz display, a battery, and turns it into a chunky -- but awesome -- PlayStation 5 laptop. Check it out:
The new BBook AI Original Edition weighs in at a hefty 9.5 pounds plus additional weight for the power brick, but it's not that heavy considering the regular PS5 weighs 9.9 pounds. This includes a built-in 17.3-inch 4K display with a 60Hz refresh rate, a 3D-printed chassis that looks industrial, and I love it, while underneath you've got the internals of the PlayStation 5 console.
That means we have the 8-core Zen 2 CPU, a 36-compute-unit RDNA 2 GPU, 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, and 825GB of blazing-fast PCIe 4.0 storage. You're just getting the PS5 inside of a laptop, with no hardware changes -- although it would've been nice to see the new PS5 Pro laptop -- but I bet we see that in 2025.
Apple designers working on a foldable iPad concept: unfolds into size of two iPads side-by-side
Apple is years and years behind the competition with foldables, but the company is reportedly working on a new foldable iPad concept that when unfolded, is like having two iPads side-by-side.
In his latest "Power On" newsletter, insider Mark Gurman said that Apple would be launching "something skin" to a giant iPad that unfolds into the size of two iPads side-by-side sometime in 2028.
The first goal however, is to have zero crease when Apple's foldable is fully unfolded. This makes sense, as Apple doesn't want to step into the market with a "revolutionary" new foldable iPhone or foldable iPad, and have any crease when unfolded... the company will wait until the creases are ironed out, pun intended.

See if Your Personal Data is Compromised with the Free Data Leak Checker
The email addresses we use daily with online service require a login, and this data point is often linked with additional information like passwords, personal information, and phone numbers.
In Q3 2024, over 100 million North American accounts were breached - a figure that makes up a quarter of affected accounts. Globally, that number skyrockets to over 420 million, which means over 3,200 accounts were compromised every minute. This covers small businesses, large corporations, and everyday internet users with sensitive personal data, leaving many individuals vulnerable to identity theft and fraud.
Due to a recent "security event," one of the largest companies in the world, Amazon, saw phone numbers, email addresses, and locations of its employees stolen as part of last year's MOVEit Transfer hack. In another recent example, U.S. communications giant T-Mobile was reportedly breached as part of a Chinese hacking operation targeting international telecommunications companies.
Ciri was chosen to star in the Witcher 4 before the Witcher 3 even released
Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon was always meant to be the descendant of the Witcher series, CD Projekt asserts.
Ciri, not Geralt, is the star of The Witcher IV. For many, this isn't a surprise. But the choice has nonetheless caused slight controversy--whether it be Ciri, her appearance, or CD Projekt's choice, there's some ruffled feathers.
On the heels of The Witcher 4's big reveal at The Game Awards, key members of the studio are going on press tours to discuss their new femme fatale protagonist.
ZOTAC confirms NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 5090 has 32GB of GDDR7 memory
ZOTAC is gearing up for the release of the GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs from NVIDIA, with some confirmation on that monster 32GB of ultra-fast GDDR7 memory that is expected to power the flagship GeForce RTX 5090.
The company has added new filters to its graphics card category, where you can now select GDDR7 and up to 32GB capacity, something that wasn't available for the RTX 40 series. We've heard rumors of NVIDIA using a huge 32GB of GDDR7 memory on its flagship RTX 5090, and this is all but now confirmed.
ZOTAC has listed a bunch of NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 50 series "Blackwell" gaming GPUs, starting with the GeForce RTX 5090, but also includes the RTX 5090D, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070. We don't know details from ZOTAC on the other cards apart from the VRAM capacity, but we're only weeks from the official reveal at CES 2025 next year.
Far Cry 7 coming in 2026, to shake up formula with 72-hour Majora's Mask countdown clock
Ubisoft is reportedly taking cues from an old-school Nintendo classic with its new Far Cry game.
Ubisoft is currently working on two new Far Cry games, sources tell Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson. The publisher is developing a mainline franchise entry, known among gamers as Far Cry 7 and internally codenamed Blackbird, and a new multiplayer-based extraction shooter that's codenamed Maverick. Both games have apparently been pushed back from their original 2025 schedule to a 2026 launch.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and created in Massive Entertainment's proprietary Snowdrop Engine (the franchise shifted from the previous Dunia engine over to Snowdrop), Blackbird, aka Far Cry 7, will feature an interesting new gimmick for the series: A countdown clock.
