GIGABYTE plans 3 different GeForce RTX 4090 D cards, no factory OC included
NVIDIA's newly-tweaked GeForce RTX 4090 D is on its way to China as we speak, with AIB partner GIGABYTE preparing a few different RTX 4090 D models for the country.
In some new leaks, we're getting a gander at the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 D AERO, GeForce RTX 4090 D WINDFORCE, and the GeForce RTX 4090 D GAMING. All of them have the cut-down AD102 GPU, with the same 24GB of GDDR6X memory as the regular RTX 4090 non-D.
One of the big changes is that none of GIGABYTE's custom GeForce RTX 4090 D graphics cards have any form of factory overclocking, which would bump them over the US export restrictions. NVIDIA has reportedly hard-locked the 425W TDP on the RTX 4090 D, meaning that AIB partners only have a little bit of wiggle room when it comes to GPU clock speeds.
The GeForce RTX 4090 D for China is 5% slower with fewer CUDA Cores and the same 24 GB of VRAM
NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4090 D is the company's flagship Ada Lovelace GPU for the Chinese market after the existing GeForce RTX 4090 was effectively banned from sale for being too powerful to sell in the region. The GeForce RTX 4090 D complies with all current US government export rules and regulations for selling GPU hardware in the region - and it's launching this month.
And with that, NVIDIA has updated its GeForce RTX 40 Series line-up with a new entry outlining the GeForce RTX 4090 D specs. In a statement provided to the press, NVIDIA confirms that the GeForce RTX 4090 D is only 5% slower than the existing GeForce RTX 4090 for gaming and creative workloads.
NVIDIA also confirms that it extensively engaged with the US government when developing the GeForce RTX 4090 D.
NVIDIA giving away custom GeForce RTX 4080 Cyberpunk 2077 Edition GPU in China
NVIDIA has been hard at work for the Chinese market, first with the newly tweaked AD102-based GeForce RTX 4090 D graphics card exclusive to the Chinese market, and now a giveaway.
The company is giving away a sleek GeForce RTX 4080 Cyberpunk 2077 Edition graphics card, another custom design that features Cyberpunk 2077 all over it. This isn't NVIDIA's first time with a custom Cyberpunk 2077-themed graphics card, as it did so with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and then the GeForce RTX 3080 Cyberpunk 2077 Edition graphics cards.
NVIDIA's new custom GeForce RTX 4080 Cyberpunk 2077 Edition graphics card is inspired by the Arasaka organization from the Cyberpunk 2077 game itself. It moves away from the usual aesthetic of Cyberpunk 2077 -- yellow and black -- with a black and chrome style that looks beautiful... at least in the photos, I'm sure it looks even better in the flesh.
NVIDIA's new GeForce 546.34 WHQL drivers add support for RTX 4090 D graphics card
You can't buy NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4090 D graphics card in China just yet, but the company has just unleashed new GPU drivers that support the RTX 4090 D. You can grab the new GeForce Game Ready 546.34 WHQL drivers here (670MB download).
NVIDIA was forced to tweak its AD102-powered GeForce RTX 4090 into the GeForce RTX 4090 D graphics card for the China market after the Biden administration penciled in new US sanctions. The new GeForce RTX 4090 D graphics card has been cut down to meet those new US export restrictions, and now NVIDIA has its new GeForce Game Ready 546.34 WHQL drivers that support the new RTX 4090 D graphics card.
This isn't a new driver with the usual optimizations and fixes, but rather it's a new driver release that is based on NVIDIA's previous mid-December GPU driver release. The change log hasn't changed, as the new GPU drivers also feature Game Ready support for THE FINALS and Fortnite: Chapter 5.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER rumor: 16GB of faster GDDR6X memory at 23Gbps
NVIDIA is just days away from revealing its new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series of graphics cards, and now we have more details on the new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER.
The upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card will boast the same 16GB of GDDR6X memory as the GeForce RTX 4080 non-SUPER, except it'll be a little faster. We're hearing that NVIDIA is using 23Gbps GDDR6X modules for its new RTX 4080 SUPER, providing a 2.6% boost in bandwidth.
This means we'll see the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER with 16GB of GDDR6X memory at 23Gbps on a 256-bit memory bus, providing up to 736GB/sec of memory bandwidth. NVIDIA's other two GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series graphics cards: the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER, will retain their 21Gbps GDDR6X memory, the same as their non-SUPER counterparts.
AORUS teases its new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER cards will be detailed at CES 2024
GIGABYTE is officially teasing its upcoming GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series cards; future members of its AORUS brand are going to be unveiled at CES 2024 in just over a week's time.
The company is also teasing it will have Intel's new 14th Gen Core-HX series processors inside of its new gaming laptops and 14th Gen Core non-K series processors inside of new gaming desktops. We've got the official AORUS tweet teasing new gaming laptops on the way, while the RTX 40 SUPER series cards will be unveiled and detailed in all their new glory.

The new RTX 40 SUPER series will include the new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER graphics cards... all of which will have GIGABYTE and AORUS custom models.
ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB includes new 12V-2x6 power connector
ASUS has a new custom GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB graphics card on the way, and now we've got some leaked photos of the new card, which rocks the updated 12V-2x6 power connector.
The upcoming ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER DUAL graphics card features a dual-fan custom design and a smaller 2.46-slot form factor which makes it perfect for smaller rigs. You'll have the updated RTX 4070 SUPER inside, which should get you closer to 10-15% more performance over the RTX 4070 non-SUPER card.
We can also see that ASUS is extending the backplate on the back of the RTX 4070 SUPER DUAL graphic card, which extends past the PCB itself. Nice touch there, ASUS.

AMD could be launching non-XT Radeon RX 7800 and 7700 GPUs, alongside a Radeon RX 7600 XT
AMD could be prepping to launch a new range of RDNA 3 GPUs for desktops in 2024, with regulatory filings pointing to three new variants - the Radeon RX 7700, Radeon RX 7800, and Radeon RX 7600 XT. New components must be registered with the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) before making their way to the market - and this info comes via relatively unknown GPU maker Artek.
However, model names and variants can often be listed to cover all bases - even those that exist but are eventually canceled. Looking at the current Radeon RX 7000 Series line-up, there are some definite gaps and holes to fill when you remove RDNA 2 and previous-generation Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards from the equation.
As per our review of the Sapphire PURE AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT, 1080p gaming presents a 37.8% performance increase or uplift over the mainstream and entry-level Radeon RX 7600. A truly massive gap leaves plenty of room for either a Radeon RX 7600 XT or a Radeon RX 7700.
MSI has at least 12 different GeForce RTX 40 Series SUPER cards coming in 2024
A new leak confirms that MSI is prepping to release multiple GeForce RTX 40 Series SUPER GPUs in the new year, with at least 12 models and variants for the new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER.
With four models for each, the list points to MSI releasing a flagship SUPRIM X model for the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB. The list also confirms more of the specs for the upcoming SUPER refresh, including the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER seeing its memory capacity increase to 16GB of GDDR6X memory on a 256-bit bus, with the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER maintaining its 12GB of GDDR6X on a 192-bit bus.
The list comes via Videocardz.com, which obtained the information from various retailer listings. Thanks to the cards debuting in January 2024, full model names were found, with the full list covering the company's Ventus, Gaming X Slim, and SUPRIM X GPU line-ups.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 'Blackwell' GPUs ready to launch in Q4 2024
NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 50 series "Blackwell" GPUs will be ready to rock and roll by this time next year, according to the very latest leaks.
In a new video from Moore's Law is Dead, Tom's sources have said that NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 50 series "Blackwell" GPUs will be "ready for launch" in Q4 2024... if NVIDIA wants to. Why is that? It will depend on how the GeForce RTX 40 "Ada Lovelace" GPUs are selling at that point and how AMD's next-gen RDNA 4 GPU architecture is shaping up.
NVIDIA will reportedly be making a "big deal" about the GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs and their efficiency, rocking along on TSMC's updated 3nm process node. We should expect some big power savings, higher clock speeds, and a huge performance upgrade over the current-gen RTX 40 series GPUs.

AMD's RX 7700 XT GPU sinks to lowest ever price - but it could still pay to wait before you buy
AMD's Radeon RX 7700 XT has never been cheaper, having dropped considerably with pricing over in the US right now.
VideoCardz spotted that the ASRock Challenger RX 7700 XT graphics card has been reduced to $399.99 over at Newegg, meaning it's the first time this GPU has ever sunk below the $400 mark (just).
The actual price is $449.99, but there's a discount code to get $50 off with no strings attached, you just need to apply it at checkout.
GeForce RTX 3050 6GB launching in February 2024 for $179, according to new info
The GeForce RTX 40 Series SUPER is rumored to be launching in January 2024, with three SKUs: a GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER. There is a massive influx of new, beefed-up GPUs, so you might think that would be it for NVIDIA's Q1 2024 GeForce plans. Well, that doesn't look to be the case, as early 2024 will present a big shake-up for GeForce RTX.
Granted, all of this is rumor - via sources that are said to be NVIDIA partners - but it does sound spot-on. First up, as previously reported, NVIDIA is set to sunset the GeForce GTX line-up of entry-level GPUs - no more GeForce GTX 16 Series cards will be produced after Q1 2024.
This brings us to the redesigned GeForce RTX 3050 for desktop gaming, a cutdown 6GB version of the 8GB model available today that will launch in February 2024 for $179 US.
AMD's FSR 3 Frame Generation can be modded into any game with DLSS 3, including Cyberpunk 2077
AMD's FSR 3 and Frame Generation technology works similarly to its upscaling FSR 2 tech - it supports GeForce RTX and Radeon RX GPUs. It took a while from announcement to becoming a thing, especially as DLSS 3 and Frame Generation became a hot topic.
Last week's update and full open-source source code release of FSR 3, alongside its improved implementation in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, felt like the 1.0 launch we've been waiting for. And now, as we close out 2023, there's a new mod style that replaces DLSS 3 with FSR 3 in any game that features NVIDIA's tech.
Why would you replace DLSS 3 Frame Generation with AMD's FSR 3? That comes down to NVIDIA's tech being exclusive to the latest GeForce RTX 40 Series of graphics cards - using new specialized AI hardware. AI doesn't power FSR 3, so modding FSR 3 into Cyberpunk 2077 allows the millions of GeForce RTX 20 Series and GeForce RTX 30 Series gamers out there to enable Frame Generation and get a sizable boost to in-game performance.
NVIDIA rumored to launch new version of RTX 4090 GPU surprisingly early - next week in fact
NVIDIA's purported new spin on the RTX 4090 graphics card is set to go on sale come December 28, according to a fresh rumor.
This is the RTX 4090 D which is for the Chinese market only, a cut-down version expressly produced for the purpose of side-stepping the ban on powerful AI GPUs which has also prevented NVIDIA's standard RTX 4090 from being shipped to China.
The rumor comes from Chinese site Expreview - so heap on the skepticism here, as it's not one of the more reliable channels on the grapevine - and it's surprisingly early.
Intel has its own XeSS Frame Generation tech in development called 'ExtraSS'
At SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 in Sydney, Intel showcased an interesting new technology called ExtraSS as part of its XeSS framework for boosting rendering performance. XeSS, Intel's AI-powered upscaling answer to NVIDIA DLSS, looks to be getting its own (and very different) version of Frame Generation.
With the debut of the GeForce RTX 40 Series, NVIDIA introduced a new performance-boosting bit of technology called Frame Generation as part of its updated DLSS 3 suite.
Leveraging the advanced AI hardware and capabilities of the company's new Ada Lovelace architecture, the performance increase arrives via creating and generating new frames. Mix in latency reduction tech like NVIDIA Reflex, and it's no secret that DLSS 3 has been one of the most talked about PC gaming features in the past year- a massive increase in perceived in-game performance with excellent image quality.
ASUS GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER listed by European retailer for nearly $4000
European retailer Proshop has listed 24 different NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER graphics cards on its website, with each of the cards pictured using the RTX 4090, and most likely a mistake in the end.
RTX 4090 SUPER listings (source: ProShop)
Proshop has NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER graphics cards listed from the likes of ASUS, MSI, Inno3D, and other AIB partners from across the planet. Proshop itself operates business in multiple European countries, so we should expect these RTX 4090 SUPER listings to be a mistake... but I'm sure most gamers wish the RTX 4090 SUPER were real.
The Cyclone returns! MSI launching a new GeForce RTX 4060 Cyclone with funky oversized fan
It's a blast from the past as MSI is bringing back one of its most visually interesting GPU designs from over a decade ago - the Cyclone. In our review of the MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB Cyclone II from 2011, a mid-range under-$200 GPU, the single large fan and surrounding 'cyclone' delivered excellent results that matched the card's unique design.
As spotted by @harukaze5719 over on X/Twitter, the new MSI GeForce RTX 4060 CYCLONE 8G OC brings this classic design back with a modern spin. "The whirlwind is back," proclaims the GPU product listing - albeit this time in ultra-efficient Ada Lovelace form.
You can probably chalk up the main reason for the Cyclone's return to Ada's excellent efficiency - where the 115W TDP of the GeForce RTX 4060 means companies can look toward releasing smaller form-factor cards. Or, dip into the past to bring back a cool design that focuses on efficient cooling.
19 damaged GeForce RTX 4090s with cracked PCIe slots fixed by professional repairer
A single customer sent 19 flagship NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards to repair professional and YouTuber "NorthridgeFix" because most of them had cracked PCBs close to the retention finger on the end of the PCIe card. Check it out:
We don't know what the source of this damage is exactly, but we do know that the RTX 4090 -- in any form, from any AIB -- is pretty heavy, with hefty cooling solutions for NVIDIA's flagship gaming GPU. NorthridgeFix says that he's seen this issue before, but getting so many in a single round is strange.
He had 19 different RTX 4090 cards sent to him in both ASUS and GIGABYTE custom cards, where the cracks were only found on the ASUS RTX 4090 cards. This doesn't just happen out of nowhere, but it could be because system builders were shipping pre-built gaming systems with the RTX 4090 pre-installed, and it went through some not-so-great transport.
