Secretlab's 2020 series raises the gaming chair bar, AGAIN

Anthony Garreffa | May 23, 2019 7:08 AM CDT

Secretlab has just surprised us all with the release of its next generation gaming chairs in the new 2020 series, setting the new gold standard of gaming chairs.

Secretlab's 2020 series raises the gaming chair bar, AGAIN

The new Secretlab 2020 series is infused into their very best flagship gaming chair families in the TITAN and OMEGA series chairs, both improved with the new features from the 2020 series. These benefits include over 20 upgrades to the materials that Secretlab uses to build the chair, while the features and construction of their chairs themselves are different. It might look the same, but there are some serious changes under the hoods of the 2020 series gaming chairs.

Like the under-the-hood power of a car, some of those looks are also super-powered with their own upgrades including what is the VERY BEST neck and memory foam lumbar pillows. They are both the most hands down most comfortable I've ever used, and I think I would say that for every memory foam pillow ever. It's kind of unbelievable to the point where Secretlab has even added a layer of cooling gen inside of the neck pillow that dissipates the heat from the pillow over long gaming sessions. Like... what?! So awesome, and only with Secretlab.

Logitech reintroduces the MX518 gaming mouse for $60

Anthony Garreffa | Feb 19, 2019 9:25 PM CST

I can't believe it has been 14 years since Logitech introduced one of the most legendary gaming mice: the MX518. The only one that comes close to it would have to be Microsoft's own IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 which I also loved, but the Logitech MX518 drove my professional Call of Duty: United Offensive days on the GameArena ladders here in Australia.

Well, Logitech has just revealed it is bringing back the MX518 gaming mouse with the same overall shape as the original mouse, but with various tweaks made to the hardware, materials used, and the buttons on the mouse. The refreshed Logitech MX518 features a 1ms response time, a HERO 16K sensor, and 8 programmable buttons that can be set to other keys, or specifically-chosen commands.

Logitech is providing more customization through its in-house Logitech Gaming Software, as well as on-the-fly adjustment buttons that are found above, and below the scroll wheel. The company is packing in some on-board memory that lets you save custom profiles onto the mouse so that you can transfer them between PCs which makes things easier.

Corsair shrinks LED dies by 92% with new Capellix tech

Derek Strickland | Jan 9, 2019 6:21 PM CST

CES 2019 - Corsair just changed the RGB game with its new ultra-small LED Capellix modules.

Corsair partnered with Taiwanense electronics-maker Primax to make its new Capellix tech, which shrinks the LEDs from 2.8mm³ to 0.2mm³, a whopping 92% decrease from the standard Surface Mount Device (SMD) modules. This not only allows Corsair to jam even more LEDs on a PCB for brighter hues, but lowers power consumption by up to 40% and provides 35% longer lifespan.

This tremendously reduced footprint will give Corsair more flexibility when infusing RGB into its fleet of hardware, including devices like mice, keyboards and headsets where space can be cramped. Capellix will debut with Corsair's new Dominator Platinum RGB RAM in February 2019.

Razer HyperSense: vibration in ALL of your peripherals

Anthony Garreffa | Jan 9, 2019 2:15 AM CST

CES 2019 - Razer had an onslaught of announcements at CES 2019 with refreshed Rader Blade 15 gaming notebooks packing NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics, a new Razer Raptor gaming monitor, and also HyperSense: a high-fidelity haptics ecosystem, in Razer's own words.

Razer HyperSense: vibration in ALL of your peripherals

What Razer is trying to do with HyperSense is deliver a new level of realism to gaming on the PC, where your peripherals - even including your gaming chair, will have tacticle feedback through the use of haptic vibration in all of your devices. This will include the mouse and keyboard, the headset and even the gaming chair. Razer had a demo at CES 2019 where it ran people through Overwatch and DOOM on the PC where Tom's Hardware said they could "feel [Pharoah's] jetpacks from the chair" which, as an Overwatch addict, sounds incredible.

The chair reportedly provided "provided tactic sensation from behind, while the wrist rest simulated events coming from the sides" according to TH, where in DOOM he fell through a hole in the floor and his head "thudded, thanks to the headset". The haptic mouse and keyboard wrist rest was provided by Lofelt, while the haptic chair was from Subpac.

ASUS announces ROG Chariot gaming chair with RGB lighting

Anthony Garreffa | Jan 8, 2019 2:45 AM CST

CES 2019 - ASUS has just stepped into the gaming chair world with a new announcement at CES 2019 of its ROG Chariot and Chariot Core gaming chairs, with the premium Chariot rocking RGB lighting that adds an aesthetics touch to the ROG gaming chair.

ASUS announces ROG Chariot gaming chair with RGB lighting

The flagship ASUS ROG Chariot rocks Aura RGB lighting that is round in the backlit ROG logo behind the headrest, the lit infinity mirror effect looks super-slick like it's almost a portal into something. Maybe it's Planet ROG or something. There'll be a switch on the underside of the chair that lets you tweak the lighting colors and patterns. There is a 10,000mAh battery hidden by ASUS in a pocket under the seat that is good for 11 hours of RGB lighting.

The company is using memory foam in the headrest and lumbar pillow molds that will hug your body instead of pressing against it, with fully adjustable armrests that won't annoy you by getting caught under your desk or rubbing against your arms. They'll move up and down, forward and back, left and right, as well as rotate in and out. Height adjustment is simple with a four-level gas lift, with reclining also a given.

Razer's Xbox mouse & keyboard costs more than an Xbox One S

Derek Strickland | Dec 19, 2018 4:05 PM CST

RGB lighting, actuated switches, and PC-level DPI has finally made its way to consoles...but the entry fee is steep.

Razer's Xbox mouse & keyboard costs more than an Xbox One S

Razer's new wireless Xbox keyboard and mouse is called the Turret for Xbox One, and is designed to bring PC gaming control to the console-based living room. But it's essentially a higher-end variant of the existing Turret lapboad combo that includes extras like a dedicated Xbox button, RGB flair, mechanical switches, and advanced DPI sensors for more sensitivity.

At a glance the Razer Turret Xbox One Edition looks pretty snazzy and should give players a new way to enjoy their games with enhanced precision. There's just one problem: the cost. The combo is available for pre-order for $249 on the Microsoft Store, effectively exceeding the current price of an Xbox One S by $50 or about 25%. You do get a $25 gift card for pre-purchasing though.

Anthony Garreffa | Nov 15, 2018 8:39 AM CST

Razer won't be the only ones with gaming peripherals on the Xbox One in the near future, with Corsair joining the list of licensed hardware partners for the Xbox.

Corsair keyboards and mice are coming to the Xbox One

There are only a few keyboards, mice and headsets that work on the Xbox One from Corsair right now, but the company is putting more and more of them through testing and validation before they put them online.

Corsair explains: "CORSAIR is excited that the Xbox One team has opened up support for keyboards and mice. Xbox One players now have at their disposal the same precision and reliability that PC gamers have enjoyed from CORSAIR peripherals for years. Play titles such as Fortnite, Warframe, and Minecraft with CORSAIR wired and wireless keyboards and mice, with many more compatible games on the way".

Razer to show 'Designed for Xbox' keyboard/mouse at CES 2019

Anthony Garreffa | Nov 11, 2018 2:23 AM CST

Razer has announced it will be showing off its range of 'Designed for Xbox' keyboards and mice at CES 2019 starting January 8, 2019 with Razer boss Min-Liang Tan talking about the new peripherals during the XO18 Inside Xbox live broadcast.

The company teamed with Microsoft on the upcoming keyboards and mice for the Xbox One consoles, but there are plenty of other peripheral makers that will be releasing 'Designed for Xbox' mice and keyboards that will work on both the Xbox One, and Windows 10 rigs.

We don't know what to expect other than something like the current Razer Turret "lapboard" that lets you game on your couch, with the Turret rocking the usual RGB goodness through the dynamic RGB lighting support on the Xbox.

Razer and Microsoft could be working on Xbox keyboard, mouse

Anthony Garreffa | Jun 24, 2018 11:20 PM CDT

Until now, keyboard and mouse support on the Xbox One... well, sucks. The vastly superior controls used for PC gamers don't gel well on consoles for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't mean Microsoft isn't at least working on it.

Razer and Microsoft could be working on Xbox keyboard, mouse

According to Windows Central, who recently received some information that Microsoft was "at least planning to bring mouse support to the April update of the Xbox dev kit. Redmond showed off the sofa-friendly Razer Turret keyboard and mouse peripheral in partnership with Razer, who joined Microsoft for the presentation".

The presentation in question saw the companies enabling Razer Chroma RGB lighting support on Xbox games, with Microsoft using the PC versions of games like Overwatch, DOTA 2, and others to show Razer's great lighting tech in games. It's a much more immersive experience, especially when you're in an eSports game like Overwatch or DOTA 2 where your characters are cooling down from a used ability, and the keyboard and mouse react accordingly. It's awesome.

Anthony Garreffa | Feb 8, 2018 11:38 PM CST

I still remember one of my friends back in the 90s when we were playing Quake and slowly shifting over from using the keyboard to control first-person shooters, to using the mouse. My friend using to use a HOTAS joystick for navigation and running, with his mouse to control his aim. Joysticks and mice, just never mixed... until now.

Lexip Gaming Mouse adds joysticks into the world of mice

Introducing the Lexip Gaming Mouse which is like most other gaming mice, except that the company has added mini joysticks at your thumbs. The joysticks can be used for something extremely useful when it comes to gaming; think scrolling through the inventory in-game with a joystick.

Lexip has taken to Kickstarter to fund their new Gaming Mouse, aiming for $30,000 but have seen over $200,000 pledged at the time of writing. The Lexip Gaming Mouse should cost $120 or so when it launches in June.
