Fallout TV show showrunner and producer says the show is basically Fallout 5
Fallout 5 is a long way off, with Bethesda planning to begin work on the game after it launches The Elder Scrolls VI - which could mean we won't get to play the next mainline Fallout game until 2030... if we're lucky. On the bright side, some fantastic large-scale fan projects are on the horizon, including the impressive Fallout: London and Fallour: Miami.
And this year, we're getting a proper 4K remaster or special edition of Fallout 4 from Bethesda, with its release set to coincide with the upcoming Fallout TV show adaptation on Amazon Prime. Based on the recent trailer, the Fallout TV show looks to capture the look and feel of the iconic gaming franchise - sporting a mix of drama, sci-fi, comedy, and over-the-top violence.
Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote the excellent The Prestige and The Dark Knight films with his brother Christopher Nolan, is one of the lead producers and showrunners of the series. In a recent interview with Total Film, after collaborating with Todd Howard and Bethesda and creating an original story for the series, the Fallout TV show is like the next game in the long-running series. "It's almost like we're Fallout 5," Jonathan Nolan says.
MSI is reportedly prepping to launch another EXPERT GPU for the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
MSI debuted its latest flagship GPU design for the recent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER launch. The MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER EXPERT is a head-turner for several reasons, but mainly because it's unlike any GPU we've encountered outside of NVIDIA's iconic Founders Edition design.
Sporting a full brushed metal shroud with a stylish metallic grill, it's quite the looker. The push-and-pull fan setup (dubbed MSI Flow Frozr) mimics NVIDIA's founders' design for unique airflow, with a vapor chamber rounding out the cooling in this solid package built with premium materials. Check out our full review for a complete design, thermal, and performance breakdown.
MSI's EXPERT cards join the company's SUPRIM flagship range, albeit as a more minimal and arguably stylish flagship design choice. Today, thanks to a new report from Videocardz, it looks like MSI plans to expand its EXPERT line-up with a new MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER EXPERT coming soon.
LG reveals full specs and pricing for its dual 4K 240 Hz and 1080p 480 Hz OLED gaming display
This year is already a massive one for OLED displays, and that will not change as the months roll on. At CES 2024, LG was on hand to tease the impressive-sounding LG 32GS95UE UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor with Dual Mode and Pixel Sound, a 32-inch display with a special "dual-mode" function. This effectively means you've got two monitors in one!
A 4K display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 1080p Full HD display with an impressive refresh rate of 480 Hz. And before you ask, this isn't the same thing as changing the resolution in the Control Panel, as the design of LG's new OLED panels and pixel structure can replicate native resolution rendering at both 4K and 1080p.
The LG 32GS95UE monitor uses LG's new WOLED panel, and we now have the full specs and pricing for this new one-of-a-kind OLED display. The screen measures 31.5 inches and supports the 3840 x 2160 "4K" and 1920 x 1080 "Full HDF" resolution with the typical (and fantastic) 0.03ms response time of OLED, near-infinite contrast ratio, and 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang: AI should pass ANY human tests, exams in 5 years
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently spoke at an economic forum held at Stanford University, where he was asked how long it'll be until we have computers thinking like humans... aka AGI (artificial general intelligence).
Jensen said that that achieving this level of AI intelligence deepnds on how the goal itself is defined. If the definition of this intelligence is to pass human-level tests and exams, then we'll be there within the next half-decade.
Jensen said: "Depending on how you define thinking like a human, the outlook for when the era of AGI will come may vary". He continued: "If I gave an AI ... every single test that you can possibly imagine, you make that list of tests and put it in front of the computer science industry, and I'm guessing in five years time, we'll do well on every single one".
GEM12 Pro Mini PC: Ryzen APU, 75W vapor chamber cooler, built-in screen, fingerprint scanner
AOOSTAR has just revealed its new GEM12 Pro Mini-PC, which can be configured with up to AMD's latest Ryzen 7 8845HS "Hawk Point" APU, and it features a built-in fingerprint scanner and even a display.
The new GEM12 Pro Mini-PC features up to the Ryzen 7 8845HS processor with 8 cores and 16 threads of Zen 4-powered CPU power, at up to 5.1GHz. You've got an XDNA-based NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for AI workloads and integrated Radeon 780M graphics based on the RDNA 3 GPU architecture.
AOOSTAR says it uses an in-house vapor chamber cooler with up to 75W of cooling power, which will handle the Hawk Point APU when it's absolutely maxed out. AOOSTAR's new GEM10 Pro Mini-PC features a fingerprint scanner, OCulink connectivity, USB4 support, and a built-in display. It's actually a slick-looking Mini-PC with some fantastic functionality and features.
HP's new Omen Transcend 32-inch OLED monitor: on-board DisplayPort 2.1 is slower than HDMI 2.1
HP's upcoming Omen Transcend 32-inch OLED gaming monitor will be one of the first to the market with the latest DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity... but it s seems HP has tripped over this, delivering a bad DP2.1 experience.
The new HP Omen Transcend 32-inch OLED gaming monitor features a native 4K resolution and super-smooth 240Hz refresh rate, but the DisplayPort 2.1 standard on this particular monitor will require Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology to hit 4K 240Hz.
HP is shipping its new Omen Transcend 32-inch OLED gaming monitor with DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR10 mode, which supports up to 40Gbps (38.69Gbps actual) bandwidth. This is higher than DisplayPort 1.4 which has up to 32.40Gbps (25.92Gbps actual). However, DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 supports up to 80Gbps (77.37Gbps actual) but HP didn't use DP2.1 UHBR10, it appears they decided on DP2.1 UHBR20, limiting its otherwise awesome OLED gaming monitor.

Intel's new special edition Core i9-14900KS processor is barely two weeks away from launch, but the new CPU is already being purchased early and installed into a motherboard instantly.
One particular user on Overclock.net forums, "pakhtunov," purchased not one but two of Intel's new Core i9-14900KS processors, while another user replied and said they managed to purchase one and had plans to delid and install the 14900KS processor into their motherboard tomorrow.
X user "I_Leak_VN" tagged me in a bunch of pictures of Intel's new Core i9-14900KS processor, with a shot of the CPU itself, and the retail packaging they come in. As for the Core i9-14900KS processor itself, it will be the highest-clocked CPU on the planet when it launches with its 6200MHz frequency.
AMD's next-gen Zen 6 APU codenamed 'Sound Wave' teased, made on TSMC 3nm node
AMD's next-gen APUs have received some more leaked details, where after Strix Point and Kraken Point APUs arrive, the company has its new Sound Wave APU made on TSMC's new 3nm process node featuring its next-gen Zen 6 architecture and RDNA 5 graphics. Oh boy.

AMD is expected to launch Strix Point APUs later this year, replacing the Ryzen 8040 series "Hawk Point" APUs that launched not too long ago.
NVIDIA's next-gen B200 AI GPU uses 1000W of power per GPU, drops in 2025, confirmed by Dell
NVIDIA is currently cooking its next-gen AI GPUs in the oven right now, where we're hearing about the unannounced B200 AI GPU from... Dell.
NVIDIA has its beefed-up H200 AI GPU coming soon, while its next-gen B100 AI GPU should be revealed at GTC 2024 in less than two weeks time, but now it looks like we should expect a beefed-up B200 AI GPU in the future thanks to comments from Dell's Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman, Jeff Clarke.
Clarke confirmed that their engineering teams will be ready for a monster NVIDIA B200 AI GPU and that the next-gen AI GPU will use up to 1000W of power for a single GPU. As it stands, the Hopper H100 AI GPU will max out at around 700W of power for the SXM variant of the card; while we don't know power consumption numbers for B100 just yet, it should be north of 700W.
Grand Theft Auto franchise revenues break $8.9 billion since GTA V's launch
Grand Theft Auto made nearly $200 million last holiday quarter, pushing total GTA franchise revenues to new heights.
Take-Two Interactive's latest financials offers an update on game sales and overall performance. To no one's surprise, the Grand Theft Auto series is still going strong, having pulled in $189 million during Holiday 2023 and selling 5 million more GTA V copies during the quarter.
According to Take-Two's latest earnings report, Grand Theft Auto products made 15.2% of total 9-month net revenues. To find Q3's revenue share for GTA, we can subtract the 9-month values from the 6-month values. This equates to about $189.59 million for the Q3'FY24 period, roughly flat compared to last year's $191.2 million.
EA says players are 'rapidly shifting' to live services, open world games, massive communities
EA is doubling-down on three main features for its upcoming games as it reaches for maximized profits.
Electronic Arts recently announced it would lay off 5% of its workers, or about 670 people. In total, EA is to lay off 11% of its workforce by March 2025. The reduction is mainly to lower operating costs and streamline profits during an incredibly challenging market landscape. Trends indicate that consumers are apparently moving away from physical-based singleplayer games in favor of digital live service titles, especially in the F2P segment.
EA is now says that it is most interested in giving gamers what they want. The publisher wants to reduce risk and volatility, so it's trying to cater to its core strengths: live games that service millions of players with content and microtransactions. It just so happens that, according to EA, these are the types of games that most consumers want to play anyway.
COD Black Ops designer David Vonderhaar's new studio BulletFarm will make 'zero BS' games
Back in August 2023, David Vonderhaar left Treyarch after working on Call of Duty for 18 years. Now the FPS vet announces what's he's up to next.
Well-respected Call of Duty Black Ops designer David Vonderhaar has opened up a new AAA game studio that will focus on "zero-BS" games. The studio is called BulletFarm, and it's currently working on a AAA co-op game built in Unreal Engine 5. BulletFarm is a remote-first studio formed with the help of Chinese games giant NetEase.
"BulletFarm is currently developing a new and ambitious AAA game, built in Unreal Engine 5 and set in an original universe with an emphasis on co-operative gameplay. The game will craft a more intimate and relatable experience while offering a fresh take on first-person gameplay," reads the press release.
Embracer to sell Saber Interactive for up to $500 million
Following mass layoffs, The Embracer Group's restructuring plan will now include the sale of one of its most top-earning gaming segments.
The games industry is going through a massive constriction phase right now. Everyone is trying to control costs and stabilize profits for debt repayments and operative cash flow, and Swedish games behemoth Embracer Group is no exception. The company announced a significant cost-savings plan that has resulted in mass layoffs, the cancellation of many projects, and even the closure of some studios like Saints Row developer Volition.
Now the Embracer Group is moving on to the next big step of its plan: Selling off key parts of its gaming groups. Embracer currently has 8 operating groups, and reports indicate that it will sell two of them: Both Gearbox Entertainment and Saber Interactive are said to be up for purchase. Sources say that Embracer could sell Gearbox sometime in March, and other sources tell Bloomberg that Saber could be sold in a deal worth up to $500 million.

Embracer may sell Gearbox sometime in March
The Embracer Group will reportedly sell Borderlands creator Gearbox Entertainment next month, sources have told Kotaku.
In October 2023, Reuters and Bloomberg reported that Embracer Group was trying to sell some of its operating groups to recoup cash. Gearbox, the team behind the mega-popular billion-dollar Borderlands franchise, was on the potential divestment list. Now sources tell Kotaku's Ethan Gach that a Gearbox sale is currently being finalized.
So why is Embracer selling one of its most lucrative operating units? After all, the Borderlands franchise has sold over 83 million copies total, and Gearbox accounted for double-digit percentage shares of Embracer's quarterly revenue right from the get-go. The rationale is pretty simple: The company needs money to help triage a missed billion-dollar deal.

More games are slowly getting AMD FSR 3, including The Last of Us Part 1, RoboCop: Rogue City
AMD's FSR 3 has just been announced for a trio of new games, and is live in two of those, making a total of 18 games that now have support for Team Red's take on frame generation.
VideoCardz picked up these latest additions, one of which is The Last of Us Part 1, which debuted a year ago on PC.
The zombie-blasting action adventure has only received FSR 2.2 support thus far. Mind you, FSR 3 isn't here quite yet, but as you can see in the above tweet, it's now been announced by AMD.
Not got a webcam for your PC? Windows 11 users can just use their Android smartphone instead
Windows 11 just got a whole load of new AI capabilities, including fresh features for Copilot, but something else is inbound alongside all that, namely the ability to use your phone as a webcam for your desktop PC.
This feature is rolling out to Windows 11 testers across all channels, and Microsoft has said it's a gradual deployment, so some Windows Insiders may not see it for a while yet.
It uses the Link to Windows phone app to hook up your Android device to the PC, and you can then use either the front or rear camera of your phone (or tablet) as the webcam.
GTA 6 developers go after Rockstar Games describing the company as 'reckless'
Developers at Rockstar Games, the studio behind the iconic Grand Theft Auto franchise, are firing back at the company for its seemingly U-turn decision regarding mandatory office work.
People working on the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI are blasting the company for its reversal of its decision to implement flexible work options for developers, as reports indicate Rockstar Games has informed employees they must return to the office full-time beginning next month.
Developers have described Rockstar's leadership decision "reckless," and according to the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which cited a petition signed by 170 Rockstar Games from last year, Rockstar Games' most recent decision of mandatory in-office work days "marks a U-turn from previous statements in which the company insisted flexible work options would remain available".
Apple's iPhone 17 lineup could finally get the screen everybody needs
A new report has claimed Apple is preparing to implement its latest display technology called ProMotion, which enables a 120Hz refresh rate, in its non-Pro iPhone lineup.
ProMotion display technology was introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro series in 2022. Since then, it has been exclusive to the Apple Pro lineup of smartphones. Still, now, according to a new report from The Elec, the company is planning on rolling out the technology across its non-Pro iPhone lineup, beginning with 2025's iPhone 17. So, why is this important? ProMotion technology enables the display to change the refresh rate of the screen dynamically from 1Hz all the way up to 120Hz.
Not only does the display refresh faster for a much smoother user experience, but the dynamic nature of the technology means better battery life as the screen isn't constantly running at a flat refresh rate. At the moment, Apple has reserved this technology for its higher-end product offerings as the company needs to push buyers toward devices that Apple makes more profit on.

Copilot AI in Windows 11 is getting more powerful - slowly - and more AI features are coming
Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 users will soon get the benefit of a Copilot AI that can do more things, including new abilities to manipulate settings for the OS, plus plugins have finally arrived.
The new functionality in terms of getting Copilot to tinker with Windows 11 settings for you will roll out from late March.
It'll include the ability to tell Copilot to turn on battery saver, for example, or indeed turn it off, and to empty the Recycle Bin, or open the Voice Access panel.
Elon Musk sues ChatGPT creator OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman for breach of contract
Elon Musk has just filed an important lawsuit against one of the world's biggest companies right now -- OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT -- and its CEO, Sam Altman.
The SpaceX and Tesla boss is suing OpenAI and Sam Altman for breaching the non-profit's contract, promissory estoppel, and fiduciary duty by turning from its dedication to bringing an open-source artificial intelligence under the protection of Microsoft, which is a heavy investor in OpenAI. Microsoft owns a large 49% stake in OpenAI, investing $10 billion in January 2023 for a total of $14 billion invested in the ChatGPT maker.
The complaint filed by Musk explains: "OpenAI, Inc. has been transformed into a closed-source de facto subsidiary of the largest technology company in the world: Microsoft. Under its new board, it is not just developing but is actually refining an AGI to maximize profits for Microsoft, rather than for the benefit of humanity."
