Wikipedia co-founder tweets about CANNIBALISM, drinking human blood

Anthony Garreffa | Business, Financial & Legal | Sep 9, 2019 7:26 PM CDT

I'm sure we've all had those thoughts -- eating human flesh, drinking human blood, chilling with your friends and that thought pops into your head 'yeah, I think your skin would taste nice'. Except, no normal person does that -- but that doesn't include Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger.

Wikipedia co-founder tweets about CANNIBALISM, drinking human blood

Sanger took to his personal Twitter with a poll that asked if people would be "in favor of a law against cannibalism, defined as eating living or deceased human flesh *or* drinking blood". But don't worry, he's not crazy as he addresses that question in a direct follow up tweet saying "in case you think I'm crazy for asking" (the question about cannibalism and drinking human blood).

The follow up tweet provides a link to trade between China and Korea for delivering aborted (and still-born) children to be consumed for "health reasons". The link goes to a Washington Times article that talks about South Korean agents seizing pills made with the flesh of human fetuses manufactured in China.

Last of Us Part II release date reveal may happen later this month

After months of silence, Naughty Dog just sent out media invites for a special The Last of Us Part II event in LA for September 24. Both Sony and Naughty Dog have been quiet on the sequel's progress, especially after skipping E3 2019, but that should change with a big info blowout during the show. We'll likely see new gameplay footage accompanied by a release date confirmation, which sources say will be in early 2020.

The game will chronicle Ellie's harrowing story of hate as she carves a path of bloody vengeance across the wasteland, and also introduces a new religious-based enemy faction that's quite crazy.

Death Stranding gameplay blowout set for September 12, 13

Hideo Kojima will show off a combined 80 minutes of new Death Stranding gameplay footage at this year's Tokyo Game Show.

Death Stranding gameplay blowout set for September 12, 13

On the heels of the bizarre magical pee video footage shown off at Gamescom, Kojima Productions plans to unleash a Death Stranding gameplay blowout in just three days. The volley will start on September 12 at 3AM EST with a massive 50-minute in-game demo, and then another on September 13 during the same time slot.

We have absolutely no clue what'll be shown at the event. Death Stranding is always a complete surprise, and we could see more somewhat normal-looking open-world traversal to the ultra-weird shadowy magic from the Man in the Golden Mask. We already got a primer on Norman Reedus' Funky Fetus tank-baby and an in-depth explanation of the weird monsters that roam the fractured world.

New Greedfall gameplay shows expansive RPG combat, skills, and items

Ahead of Greedfall's release tomorrow, Spiders releases new gameplay showing expansive RPG elements like dynamic combat, item customization, and a deep skill system.

New Greedfall gameplay shows expansive RPG combat, skills, and items

Greedfall looks pretty ambitious and could be Spiders' best game yet. Hailed as a cross between Dragon Age, The Witcher, and even Assassin's Creed's stealth elements, the game looks to be a strong RPG that could rival today's AAA releases. It's a singleplayer-only game with a unique and original story of pirates and magic, kind of like an old conquistador myth or tall tale, but its real shining beacon is the RPG mechanics.

Spiders looks like it's packed some serious depth into Greedfall. It looks to carry all the major hallmarks of a great RPG. The combat is squad-based, and is like Dragon Age's mix of real-time and tactical, complete with status effects like stagger, poison, etc. It may not let you switch characters though, so your party might be on an auto-battle AI system. There's an armor system, a bestiary with towering monstrosities with different strengths and weaknesses, and a huge smattering of magical attacks to manipulate your foes with. And of course you can blast foes with pistols, rifles, and blunderbusses straight out of the explorer era. Sadly there's no confirmation of skill combos...but I hope they're in.

Ys Net still plans to offer refunds to Shenmue 3 backers, but the process could take a while to complete and there's a limited request window.

Shenmue 3 refunds could take up to 3 months to process

Today Shenmue 3 developer Ys Net revealed more details about the game's refund process. The developer says refunds to Kickstarter backers will be offered during the next survey period, which could last "up to two weeks," meaning backers will have a brief window to apply for a refund. Surveys are a way for Ys Net to keep tabs on backers and update shipping info, platform changes, and refunds.

Since Epic is fronting the bill for all Kickstarter refunds following Shenmue 3's timed Epic Store exclusivity, the refunds could take as long as 3 months to come in.

New Resident Evil is like Saw with four-player co-op survival

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 9, 2019 1:59 PM CDT

Capcom today showed off Project REsistance, a new four-player co-op survival game that's a lot like Left 4 Dead, RE Revelations, and even a splash of Saw.

New Resident Evil is like Saw with four-player co-op survival

Just as we predicted, Project REsistance is a multiplayer game centered around four-player shoot-em-up survival. Capcom didn't really reveal a whole lot of details today, but the new teaser trailer said quite a bit. The game centers around four Raccoon City survivors in a diabolical Saw-like compound filled with death rooms, traps, and hordes of zombies, complete with an evil Jigsaw-esque mastermind watching the mayhem and running the show. It's likely a cruel Umbrella experiment. A weird cybernetic Mr. X was also shown that's controlled by the Big Bad (as if Tyrant wasn't terrifying enough).

We should expect Project REsistance to be a live game with online-focused engagement and play. We should see four players teaming up online to battle it out against teeming undead.

NVIDIA's rumored GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER would battle cut down Navi

According to a new rumor from MyDrivers, NVIDIA is preparing the new GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER that would use the TU116-300, the same GPU found in the GTX 1660. We're looking at 1408 CUDA cores, 80 TMUs, and 48 ROPs - and what should turn out to be 6GB of GDDR6 memory.

The current price being thrown around for the GTX 1660 SUPER is $249, making it $20 cheaper than the GTX 1660. We should expect NVIDIA's new mid-range GTX 1660 SUPER to battle the Navi 14-based Radeon RX 5600 series in the coming months leading into the holiday season.

GeForce GTX 1650 Ti coming, should battle new Navi for $150 or so

Anthony Garreffa | Video Cards & GPUs | Sep 9, 2019 12:52 AM CDT

It was just over a week ago the first rumors of the GeForce GTX 1650 Ti, something that would be based on the TU117 GPU (the same GPU that powers the GTX 1650 Ti) except the full TU117 this time versus the slightly cut down chip in the GTX 1650.

GeForce GTX 1650 Ti coming, should battle new Navi for $150 or so

NVIDIA's purported GeForce GTX 1650 Ti would launch in October, and would feature up to 1024 CUDA cores (up from teh 896 in the GTX 1650 and 4GB of GDDR5 memory.

We should expect the TU117 to feature up to 1024 CUDA cores joined by 64 texture units, and 32 ROPs while the TU117 has unannounced clocks. As a reminder, the GTX 1650 had its TU117 at 1485MHz base GPU clock and 1665MHz boost GPU clock. We should expect the same 75W TDP, too.

The Matrix deepfake replaces Keanu Reeves with Will Smith as Neo

Anthony Garreffa | TV, Movies & Home Theatre | Sep 9, 2019 12:18 AM CDT

I'm a huge fan of The Matrix, so I know some of the trivia behind it and some of it is gold -- like Will Smith turning down the role of Neo and instead choosing to star in Wild Wild West. But now, Keanu Reeves has been replaced by Will Smith in a new deepfake of The Matrix:

Just in case you wanted some background on how and why Will Smith turned down the now iconic and trend-setting role that Keanu went to the next level in, Smith has a YouTube channel and vlog that he covers this in:

I think it's kinda freaky... but man these deepfakes are getting really, really good. The Matrix was more real than the real-world, and now deepfakes are more real than The Matrix.
