Twitch officially responds to streamer Emiru being assaulted at TwitchCon
Twitch streamer Emiru was sexually assaulted at TwitchCon this year, resulting in a slew of backlash for the company over its lacklustre security protocols during meet-and-greets.
Emiru was conducting a meet-and-greet with fans when a male fan, who had jumped over multiple barriers, approached her and attempted to kiss her before her security stepped in and removed the individual. Emiru, along with multiple other streamers at the event and fans, has called out Twitch for its lacklustre security protocols for protecting its streamers at the company's own event, as well as the repercussions for people who violate the rules and guidelines for attending it.
Now, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has acknowledged the situation publicly in a recent statement posted to the official Twitch X account. According to the CEO, "we take our responsibility to keep you safe seriously. We know that TwitchCon means a lot to a lot of people, and it means a lot to us." Clancy also recognized what happened to Emiru, and acknowledged the company "failed" in both "allowing it to occur, and in our response following." Clancy also apologized to Emiru for everything that took place.
Apple's new M5 MacBook Pro can't stay cool with single fan: M5 chip hits crazy 99C under load
Apple's new M5 MacBook Pro laptop is severely overheating in new tests, with the new M5-powered MacBook Pro only cooled by a single fan, the M5 chip is hitting 99C under load.
This isn't out of nowhere as Apple's previous-gen M4 MacBook Pro can easily pass 100C+ under loads, but the new M5 MacBook Pro has the same thermal solution as its predecessor. In a new video, YouTuber Max Tech takes a deeper look at both the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro and the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro, with some rather surprising results.
While running Cinebench 2024, Max Tech discovered that the thermal solution inside of the new Apple M5-powered MacBook Pro couldn't keep the M5 cool enough. However, the M5 version of the MacBook Pro runs cooler than the M4 version of the MacBook Pro, but we're talking 1-2C which is really nothing at the end of the day.
Intel's chip supply to 'be depleted' in early 2026: PC and server CPU demand beyond expectation
Intel will have depleted its CPU inventory in the next few months, running out of processors to sell, as demand right now is reportedly higher than anticipated.
Intel CFO David Zinsner spoke with Barron's after its Q3 2025 earnings call, saying that the company is facing a "chip supply" shortage, for both consumer and data center processors. This isn't expected to stop and will continue rolling into Q1 2026, where by then, "chip inventories" will have been depleted -- zilch, nada, gone -- which is a major concern.
Firstly, it means Intel is somehow selling every single processor it is having made (by TSMC) and soon in-house (Intel 18A). Secondly, it means that even with AMD kicking its ass on every front, somehow, Intel is selling its processors so fast, it will run out of inventory in the months ahead. It all feels very strange to me, as there are only a handful of Intel products that I can see consumers willingly buying over an AMD processor (like the Core Ultra 9 285K in some scenarios, even then, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D kicks its ass in gaming).
Micron starts sampling its 192GB SOCAMM2 low-power memory for use in AI servers
Micron has announced that it is sampling its new 192GB SOCAMM2 memory module to customers, ready for broader adoption of low-power memory for AI data centers.
The new 192GB SOCAMM2 memory module uses Micron's most advanced 1-gamma DRAM process technology which provides over a 20% improvement in power efficiency, which the company says further enables power design optimization in large data center clusters. These savings can become quite significant in full-rack AI installations, where there can be over 40TB of CPU-attached low-power DRAM main memory.
The modular design of SOCAMM2 memory improves serviceability and lays the groundwork for future capacity expansion. Micron is building on a large 5-year collaboration with NVIDIA, with Micron pioneering the use of low-power server memory inside data centers. SOCAMM2 includes the inherent advantages of LPDDR5X memory, with exceptionally low power consumption and high bandwidth, to the main memory of AI systems.
Apple's first American-made servers now shipping from Houston, into Apple's data centers
Apple has pledged more than $600 billion in US investments with some of the fruits of that labor now being seen, as the company has started shipping its new American-made AI servers into Apple's data center operations.
In a new post on X, Apple CEO Tim Cook said: "Apple's American-made advanced servers are now shipping from our new Houston facility to Apple data centers! These servers will help power Private Cloud Compute and Apple Intelligence, as part of our $600 billion US commitment".
The new American-made Apple servers will power things like Private Cloud Compute, a computational hierarchy where simple AI tasks are performed using on-device computational resources -- like on your iPhone -- while more complex tasks are offloaded onto Apple's private cloud servers using encrypted and stateless data. Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence handles everything else on your iDevices, including a retooled Siri agent.
Elon Musk says Tesla's next-gen AI5 chip is 40x faster than AI4: calls it a 'beautiful chip'
Elon Musk has said that Tesla's next-generation AI5 processor is an incredible 40x faster -- yes, not 40% but 40 times faster -- than the current AI4 processor.
Tesla recently inked a $16.5 billion deal with Samsung Foundry to fab its next-next-gen AI6 processor, with reports suggesting Samsung is making a loss on the deal but considers it a "blessing in disguise", with more on that in the links below.
But during Tesla's recent Q3 2025 earnings call, Musk said that both Samsung and TSMC would be fabbing its AI5 chips, where he added that Samsung's new Taylor, Texas semiconductor fab is "more advanced" when it comes to semiconductor fabrication than TSMC's new Arizona fab.
Halo breaks exclusivity for good: 'Halo is on PlayStation going forward,' Xbox studio confirms
Xbox is officially done with exclusive games, and that includes the once console-defining Halo series.
The newly announced Halo: Campaign Evolved isn't the only Halo game coming to PlayStation. Halo Studios has officially confirmed that future games in the series will also arrive on PlayStation, lining up with previous rumors of a cross-platform Halo live multiplayer game.
"It's really a new era. Halo is on PlayStation, going forward, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved. We're just kind of knocking down walls. We're going to come together, we're going to sing Kumbaya, it's going to be great--Blue and Great coming back together again," Halo Studios community director Brian Jarrard said during today's Halo World Championship 2025 stream.
Halo: Campaign Evolved coming to PS5, Xbox, Steam in 2026
25 years after its original release, and after decades of defining core Xbox exclusives, Halo is officially coming to PlayStation.
Today Xbox announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a fully-fledged 4K remake of the original Halo game that's coming to consoles--including PS5--and PC in 2026. Like the name says, the remake is campaign only and does not include multiplayer.
The remake actually features content not available in the original game, as well as missions that haven't been seen in any Halo game before. Halo: Campaign Evolved has two prequel missions to play, as well as nine additional weapons, including the energy sword from Halo 2, the battle rifle from Halo 3, and the needle rifle from Halo Reach. Gamers can hijack vehicles in the Halo CE remake, pilot the wraith tank, and the game has a ton of extra skulls.

Amazon to replace 600,000 jobs with robotics in seven years
Amazon is reportedly planning to cut as many as 600,000 human jobs over the next 7 years, which will eventually be replaced by robots.
Internal documents obtained by The New York Times show Amazon's plans to automate approximately 75% of all its operational processes, which will result in approximately 600,000 job losses by the year 2033. For those who don't know, Amazon is one of the United States' largest companies by the number of employees it has under its banner, having tripled its workforce since 2018 to a staggering 1.2 million.
However, Amazon's board has reportedly informed management that it will no longer need to hire additional US employees in the future due to advances in automation. The internal documents reportedly revealed that Amazon projects to save as much as $12.6 billion after the 600,000 workers are replaced by automation, and it will reduce the cost to sell each product it ships by approximately 30 cents. Amazon already has more than 1 million robots working for the company, and these robots support the 1.6 million workers.

Nike unveils 'world's first powered footwear system' for running and walking
Nike has announced Project Amplify, which it describes as the "world's first powered footwear system" that is aimed at sliding on the foot of athletes who want a second set of calf muscles.
That last sentence is ripped directly from the Nike press release, which states Amplify isn't designed for pro athletes that are looking to shave a few seconds of their latest record, but instead, it's aimed at athletes that want to move faster and farther with less effort, "in effect, a second set of calf muscles". According to Nike, Project Amplify is best used by someone who is running a 10-to-12-minute mile pace, and the development of the product has come after it was tested on over 400 athletes over the past several years.
Despite Nike unveiling Project Amplify, the company states it isn't ready to bring it to market just yet, and that it will remain in development until its release is ready "in the coming years". Project Amplify is for both running and walking, and is engineered to augment natural lower leg and ankle movement, providing support for wearers and an "unparalleled boost to anyone who wants to move".
Apple's next-gen iPhone 18 has new A20 Pro and A20 processors, codenames revealed for 2nm SoC
Apple's next-gen A20 Pro chip is reportedly called "Borneo Ultra" and its A20 non-Pro is called "Borneo", ready to power the next-gen iPhone 18 and foldable iPhone in 2026, fabbed on TSMC's bleeding-edge 2nm process node.
The codenames are coming from Weibo tipster "Mobile phone chip expert" who claims they had dinner with a friend of theirs, who happens to be the IC design boss at Apple. Over dinner, the two discussed the new iPhone and its A-series processor, where we're finding out that the A20 Pro is dubbed "Borneo Ultra" and the A20 dubbed "Borneo".
The base iPhone 18 should be powered by the regular A20 "Borneo", while the higher-end iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone, will be powered by the A20 Pro "Borneo Ultra" processor.
Intel CEO on Panther Lake launch in Q1 2026: first step with new CPUs on Intel 18A process node
Intel will fully release its next-gen Panther Lake CPUs at CES 2026 in just a couple of months' time, with new premium flagship laptop designs shown off in Las Vegas, the first chip Intel will fab and mass produce for consumers on its new in-house Intel 18A process node.
Intel hosted its Q3 2025 earnings call this week with CEO Lip-Bu Tan outlining his plans for the company over the next 18 months or so, with the laptop-ready Panther Lake CPUs dropping at CES 2026 as the new Core Ultra Series 300 family. The first SKUs will be higher-end premium options, but as Intel 18A continues to ramp, Panther Lake will debut in cheaper variants.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan explained: "In addition, and just as important, the group will spearhead the build out of a new basic and design service business to deliver purpose-built silicon to a broad range of external customers. This will not only extend the reach of our core x86 IP, but also leverage our design strength to deliver an array of solutions from general purpose to fixed function computing. In client, we are on track to launch our first Panther Lake SKU by year end, followed by additional SKUs in the first half of next year".
Intel on next-gen Nova Lake CPUs: new LGA1954 socket, up to 52 cores, Xe3 GPU on Intel 18A
Intel will be launching its next-generation Nova Lake CPUs in 2026, its next-gen processor family for the desktop, with up to 52 cores, its upgraded Xe3 GPU, and fabbed on Intel's new Intel 18A process node.
During the Q3 2025 earnings call, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan talked about his plans for moving the company forward in its client, server, and foundry-side businesses. The CEO reaffirmed some of the things we already know like its new Panther Lake CPUs fabbed on its new Intel 18A node launching at CES 2026 with a full unveiling, unlike the tease and small details from its recent Tech Tour 2025 event.
However, he did say that Intel is reaffirming the high-end processor market is an intense battlefield, but there are things in the pipeline for that. First, the company will be launching its refreshed Arrow Lake CPUs under the Core Ultra 200S Plus processors on its current LGA 1851 socket, but after that comes Nova Lake-S on the new LGA 1954 socket -- meaning new motherboards and CPUs -- in the second half of 2026, with a new architecture, software changes, and more.
EA and Stability AI partnership includes generating full 3D worlds from a series of prompts
"Electronic Arts is excited to announce a partnership with Stability AI to co-develop transformative AI models, tools, and workflows that empower our artists, designers, and developers to reimagine how content is built," the official announcement reads.
As generative AI becomes a core part of workflows everywhere, EA and Stability AI's partnership involves much more than simply leveraging existing generative AI tools to generate art and other assets. EA notes that it already uses AI and machine learning to assist with development tasks such as animation, physics simulation, and pathfinding. EA confirms that the first significant initiative from this new partnership will be to assist in creating Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials through artist-driven workflows.
PBR materials represent the objects and materials you see in a game, covering real-world things like metal, cloth, and how rain and other elements can affect their appearance and feel. PBR also refers to the ability to create realistic lighting and behavior, and it's one of the key reasons why cutting-edge tech like real-time ray-tracing can dramatically change how a game like Cyberpunk 2077 or EA's own Dragon Age: The Veilguard looks.
Xbox president: Exclusives are antiquated, gamers have evolved way past that
Xbox president Sarah Bond lays out the future of Xbox, reiterating Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's comments about game exclusivity: "I have no love for that world."
Xbox is done with exclusives. That felt like a clear observation to most fans when, in February 2024, Microsoft brought four Xbox exclusive games to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms. That Pandora's Box moment has grown, and Xbox opened the gates on its games, breaking down the walls of platform exclusivity for good and all. The plan has worked so far, as Forza Horizon 5 became a big hit on PS5 thanks to stored up FOMO.
So where does that leave Xbox? Prepare for more of the same, just magnified. Executive management re-confirms that exclusives are essentially gone at Microsoft, with Xbox president Sarah Bond going so far as to say that exclusives are "antiquated" in a recent interview with Mashable's Timothy Beck Werth.
Elden Ring Tarnished Edition Switch 2 port delayed to 2026
Switch 2 owners will have to wait a little while longer before playing Elden Ring.
Nintendo's latest Switch 2 is a new frontier for games that couldn't launch on the original system, games like FromSoftware's ultra-popular Elden Ring. It feels challenging to cram the huge open-world action game into a handheld-native format. Apparently that's the case, as FromSoftware delayed Elden Ring Tarnished Edition from its original 2025 launch into an indefinite 2026 launch.
"While development on Elden Ring Tarnished Edition continues wholeheartedly toward release, we have decided to move the launch to 2026 to allow time for performance adjustments. We apologize to players looking forward to the game and thank you for your patience and support," FromSoftware said in the announcement.

Microsoft reveals bouncy new AI companion for Windows 11 - Mico - and almost everyone groans
Clippy is back! Well, no, the much-maligned assistant isn't, but a new Windows 11 take on a long line of desktop-based helpers has been revealed by Microsoft: it's called Mico.
Mico is part of Copilot in Windows 11 - the name is a contraction of Microsoft Copilot, as in Mi-Co - and the idea is to have a more humanlike assistant in said long line of helpers (from Rover the Dog of Microsoft Bob fame, through to Clippy, then Cortana in more modern times).
It is, if you like, a face for Copilot. As Microsoft explains: "The new Mico character is expressive, customizable, and warm. This optional visual presence listens, reacts, and even changes colors to reflect your interactions, making voice conversations feel more natural. Mico shows support through animation and expressions, creating a friendly and engaging experience."
NVIDIA officially goes extraterrestrial to absorb the power of the Sun
In an effort to curb the exponential demands of data centers to power artificial intelligence models, NVIDIA has backed a company that has a solution, and that solution is going off planet.

Microsoft CEO awarded record-breaking compensation in the same year 15,000 people were fired
Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, has received a record-breaking bonus bordering on the $100 million mark, the same year that Microsoft laid off approximately 15,000 employees.
Nadella was awarded $96.5 million in compensation for the performance of the company, and of that $96.5 million $84 million was in the form of stock awards, while the other $9.5 million was awarded in cash incentives. Nadella takes home $2.5 million from his general salary, which doesn't include his incentives and bonuses.
The massive pay for Nadella comes as Microsoft becomes one of the few companies to reach $1 trillion market cap. Over the past three years, Microsoft's shares have more than doubled, and in 2025 alone, the stock price has increased by 23%.
