Sources say AMD HD 6970 will beat NV GTX 580

| Nov 11, 2010 10:02 AM CST

I don't think that any of us will be surprised that "sources" are saying that the AMD HD 6970 will beat the new NVIDIA GTX 580 in performance. What else would AMD say after all? It's not as if they can say, "our next card will suck." I like it when these two companies get to goading and competing with each other for the performance crown, and so should you.

Club3D outs factory overclocked Radeon HD 6850 video card

| Nov 5, 2010 1:00 PM CDT

For years we could get our hands on lots of factory, overclocked video cards from NVIDIA, but ATI would not allow the card partners to overclock its cards. This was ok for many enthusiasts because they like to overclock their cards themselves. The catch is that overclocking the card could void the warranty so some enthusiasts preferred the factory overclocked cards.

Galaxy is one of the card partners that offers NVIDIA video cards. Not too long ago when the GTS 450 debuted, Galaxy was one of the companies with cards on launch day. Those GTS 450 cards were decent enough considering the price the cards sold for. 1120 Shaders on our and others AMD Radeon HD 6850

| Oct 22, 2010 12:34 PM CDT

Word has quickly started to get around regarding the AMD Radeon HD 6850 carrying with it 1120 Shaders. This afternoon when I was testing for my HD 6850 OC article, I noticed that in GPU-Z my HD 6850 was listed as 1120 Shaders. When I realized I double checked the video card to see if it was actually the HD 6850 and it was.

I had a look at my Sapphire card and noticed that it also showed 1120 Shaders. With the version of GPU-Z being brand new, I put it down to nothing more than a software error since both cards showed it. It's becoming widespread that the cards actually have all 1120 Shaders enabled.

Club 3D debuts NVIDIA GT430 video card

| Oct 11, 2010 11:04 AM CDT

One of the newest video cards that covers the home theater and modestly priced segments of the video card market to come from Big Green is the GT430. Club 3D has pulled the wraps off its own single slot GT430 video card and the small little card should be a nice choice for a HTPC machine that doesn't need the most powerful hardware on the market.

The GT430 from Club 3D is aimed at accelerating photos and HD video according to the company and will allow the user to watch 3D Blu-ray flicks on a computer screen or a big screen in the living room. The video card uses the PCIe v2.0 slot and has a core clock of 700MHz. The card uses 1024MB of DDR3 RAM that is clocked at 1333MHz and has a 128-bit memory interface.

A fan and heat sink keeps the GPU cool while producing little noise to distract you from your favorite movie. Dimensions of the single slot card are 154mm x 120mm x 16mm. The card has a single DVI output, a VGA output, and HDMI out. It supports HDCP for Blu-ray films and has a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time.
