Grounded 2 was mostly developed by Eidos Montreal, not Obsidian
Grounded 2 was mostly developed by partner studio Eidos Montreal while Obsidian worked on other various projects including The Outer Worlds 2.
Shortly before Grounded 2 was released, it was revealed that beleaguered Tomb Raider developer Eidos Montreal would be helping Obsidian make the new Grounded sequel. It turns out that Eidos had heavy involvement in the project to the degree where Obsidian was more of a collaborator.
In a recent interview with Polygon, Obsidian reveals how important Eidos Montreal was for Grounded 2's development. According to the interview, the "vast majority" of creatives who worked on the game were from Eidos.

Carbice boasts 'Ice Pad replaces outdated thermal paste' - and it's now in CyberPowerPC rigs
If you're fed up with thermal paste when it comes to CPU cooling (and who isn't?), there's an intriguing new alternative - a carbon nanotube-based pad, and it's now available, but the catch is you can't buy it in standalone form.
We reported on the launch of Carbice's Ice Pad yesterday, and PC Gamer noticed the pads are now available - but only as part of a prebuilt system from CyberPowerPC.
So, this is just a partnership with that vendor at this stage, but hopefully it indicates that a fuller level of availability isn't too far off. Note that the Ice Pads don't come as stock for any given PC build from CyberPowerPC, but rather they are a 'premium upgrade' option.
Remedy working on mysterious new game, studio targets €100 million revenue by 2027
Remedy currently has two games in full-scale production, but a mysterious unannounced third game is on the fringes.
Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Control developer Remedy Entertainment has announced their Q2'25 earnings report, showing current results and future plans. Remedy made 16.9 million euros in Q2, up 63% from last year. Despite the jump, Remedy's latest game, a three-player co-op shooter called FBC Firebreak, was a commercial disappointment at launch.
Remedy's report highlights what's on the horizon, confirming both Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes are in full-scale production at the company. There's another enigmatic title in the pipeline, though; the presentation confirmed another game that Remedy plans to develop and self-publish.
PUBG: Battlegrounds is ditching last-gen consoles for the PS5 and Xbox Series X
PUBG: Battlegrounds is officially moving to current-gen consoles with the developer announcing its ending support for previous consoles. Goodbye, Xbox One and the PS4. Hello, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Notably, the title that was pivotal in kicking off the Battle Royale genre of games is currently available on PS5 and the Xbox Series consoles, but it's running as a PS4/Xbox One game. The transition will begin on November 13, with the developer announcing that PUBG: Battlegrounds "will be supported only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." According to the announcement, the transition is necessary and will provide players with an upgraded experience with more stable gameplay, improved visuals, and a reduction in crashes.
Following the live server maintenance on November 13, PUBG will only be available on current-gen consoles, and it will no longer be downloadable on the previous-gen consoles. For those looking to make the transition to keep playing PUBG, you will be glad to know that all items and account data will be securely preserved. Players will be able to log into their account on the latest console generation and continue playing right where they left off.
Control franchise sales hit 5 million, Remedy gives update on Control 2 sequel
Remedy's Control franchise has broken 5 million sales across two console generations in the last five years, the Finnish developer has announced.
Control was our favorite game of 2019 and served as a creative melding of The X-Files, Twin Peaks, and Max Payne. Remedy is working on a sequel, but not much info has been revealed yet, and the game hasn't been formally showcased--Control 2 is still very much a work in progress.
In a recent Q2'25 earnings update, Remedy shares that Control has hit 5 million sales on all platforms. That's no small feat for a new IP published by a smaller house like 505 Games. Remedy has since acquired full publishing and IP rights to the Control franchise, and plans to self-publish the sequel.
Resident Evil Requiem story details leak ahead of Gamescom unveiling
Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has taken to X to share a slew of new details regarding the story in Resident Evil Requiem, the latest Resident Evil game Capcom is teeing up for a gameplay unveiling at Gamescom next week.
Dusk Golem previously revealed several details regarding the title, specifically to do with its innovation and how Capcom has separated Requiem from previous titles in the franchise. Now, Dusk Golem has provided a slew of details regarding the game's story, saying Requiem is going to be the last numbered Resident Evil game, and that Resident Evil 9 will be both a conclusion chapter and a new beginning for the franchise. Additionally, it will be the end of "everything to do with Umbrella, Raccoon City, its legacy & long history."
Furthermore, Requiem will tie up the events throughout Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 0 to make way for new characters and stories in the franchise. By having Requiem be the conclusion to these stories, Capcom will no longer be handcuffed to the series' history, which includes developing game elements related to Umbrella, Raccoon City, and other well-known locations. One significant detail the leaker revealed was that the giant monster woman is Grace's mother, Alyssa, and that this detail will be unveiled at the Gamescom reveal.

Battlefield 6 developer confirms large maps will be shown 'soon'
One of the few criticisms of the first Battlefield 6 open beta weekend was the three maps that were available were all relatively small, which results in the tempo of the gameplay being quite high.
For those who aren't familiar with gamer-speak, tempo is commonly referred to in games as the pace or the momentum of play, specifically how quickly events, actions, or decisions happen and how much control players have over that pace. Smaller maps that cram 64 players onto the field of Battlefield result in an extremely high-tempo environment where players are constantly spawning, engaging with enemies, dying, and then respawning again.
For long-time Battlefield fans that enjoyed the large scope of maps found in previous games in the franchise, this tempo is far too high. Many of these players enjoy larger maps where they are alive for much longer periods of time. If you are one of those players, you will be glad to know that Battlefield 6 does feature larger maps, as a developer for the game has confirmed their existence, while also providing an explanation as to why they weren't present in the first open beta weekend.

ASUS teases an RTX 50 series graphics card unlike any other
A week before Gamescom, where we can expect a slew of new gaming-related announcements, ASUS will be launching a new RTX 50-series GPU, and its design is unlike any other 50-series graphics card we have seen so far.
The new ROG Matrix will be released in celebration of the company's 30th anniversary, which we heard about in early July as the company took to its website to tease that it was working on something "top-secret" that's related to an RTX 50-series GPU.
Now we have a name for that project, the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090, which is a level up from the ROG Matrix Platinum GeForce RTX 4090 the company released in 2023. That RTX 4090 Matrix edition featured a 360mm radiator, and it appears from the leaked images of the RTX 5090 Matrix that component has been dropped for standard cooling fans.

Battlefield 6 players collectively cause $70 billion worth of property damage
The first open beta weekend for Battlefield 6 has wrapped up, and EA is disappointed in gamers for not causing as much property damage as it would have hoped - only $70 billion worth.
While EA is celebrating the monumental launch of the Battlefield 6 open beta, attracting more than 500,000 players on Steam, the developer is offering a new community reward. Players who increase property damage during the next open beta weekend can help reach the $1 trillion goal. That reward is the exclusive Community Destruction Skin for the M/60.
So, how can the community help reach the goal of $1 trillion? Players must record a video of the in-game destruction they caused, upload it to social media, and use the hashtag #BF6Receipts.
PlayStation teases epic Xbox crossover between Halo and Helldivers 2
Arrowhead Studios, the developers behind Helldivers 2, PlayStation's largest live-service game, have seemingly teased the addition of Xbox's Halo, making an appearance with two notes of an iconic soundtrack.
A new trailer posted to the official Helldivers 2 YouTube account celebrates the launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox consoles on August 26, but at the end of the trailer is saxophone music that is undoubtedly going to cause the hairs on the back of Halo fans' necks to stand up. While the trailer doesn't directly mention a Halo crossover to Helldivers 2, the music that is heard at the end of the trailer is extremely similar, some would say identical to the Halo 3 ODST soundtrack.
The iconic soundtrack being heard at the end of the trailer implies there will be some kind of crossover event, probably around the launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox consoles. It isn't accidental that we get a teaser for Halo coming to Helldivers 2 right before Helldivers 2 launches on Xbox consoles. The big question now is, will Master Chief, or whatever the crossover Halo content is, be playable on the PlayStation version of the game?

GeForce Game Ready 580.97 WHQL driver for Hellblade 2 and GTA 5's DLSS 4 update is here
NVIDIA's latest GeForce Game Ready 580.97 WHQL driver is here, and this one adds optimizations for two existing games getting a DLSS 4 update. The first is Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced, which includes a new 'Very High' graphics setting, a new game mode called Dark Rot, developer commentary, and an updated photo mode.
Although the critical and fan response to Senua's Saga: Hellblade II was mixed, there's no denying that the game's lifelike visuals and detailed characters still look stunning. The new Enhanced version of the game also supports DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, which includes the latest 'Transformer' model version of DLSS Super Resolution.
As a visually demanding title, NVIDIA notes that with DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation, frame rates are increased by a factor of 3X. And with NVIDIA Reflex, PC latency is reduced by up to 57%. So yeah, if you plan on playing Hellblade II, be sure to grab the latest GeForce Game Ready driver.
Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC is a new premium wireless controller for competitive gamers
Premium controllers are common in the console space. There's the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and several other options from third parties. The new Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC is a little different in that it's a pro-grade wireless controller that has been "built from the ground up for competitive PC gaming."
This means that the 8K in the naming refers to it making use of Razer's 8000 Hz HyperPolling technology for ultra-low latency performance. Razer notes that the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC offers true 8000 Hz polling in both wired and wireless modes, which is impressive to see. The high-end tech doesn't stop there, as the controller also sports TMR or Tunnel Magnetoresistance thumbsticks, with swappable caps.
If you're wondering what TMR thumbsticks are all about, the TMI is that they offer long-lasting durability with consistent tension and are anti-drift. Unless you're taking a corner in Tokyo Xtreme Racer, and then the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC will be all about the drift. Another impressive feature of the controller is its ergonomic, lightweight build.
Dell and KIOXIA announce partnership to use 245TB LC9 Series SSDs in PowerEdge servers
A couple of weeks ago, KIOXIA announced its new LC9 Series, which includes the world's first high-capacity 245.76 TB NVMe SSD built for the enterprise market, data centers, and complex generative AI workloads. 245 TB of storage in 2.5-inch and Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factors (EDSFF) is a game changer, especially when it's built on KIOXIA's 8th Gen BiCS FLASH with CBA (CMOS directly Bonded to Array) technology that delivers PCIe 5.0 speeds.
This week, KIOXIA and Dell Technologies have announced a new partnership that will see Dell systems adopt LC9 Series storage, enabling power-efficient and high-performance AI-scale systems to manage multi-petabyte data sets and support cutting-edge generative AI applications and training large language models (LLMs).
KIOXIA notes that the compact size and capacity allow 245.76 TB KIOXIA LC9 Series SSDs to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 12,000 MB/sec and sequential write speeds of up to 3,000 MB/sec while reducing physical space, cooling, and power requirements. Having that level of speed also allows LC9 Series SSDs to better utilize and work alongside GPUs.
Resident Evil reboot has begun shooting with 'Weapons' director Zach Cregger
The reboot of the Resident Evil movie has begun shooting in Prague, with reports indicating the shooting is taking place in the city streets and at Barrandov Studios.
The film reboot is based on the long-time-running video game franchise by Capcom, and will be helmed by director Zach Cregger, known for Barbarian and the recently released movie "Weapons" starring Julia Garner and Josh Brolin.
For those concerned about how the Resident Evil movie will shape up, Weapons is garnering quite a lot of attention at the box office, along with critics and public praise for being a mysterious horror film that stands out with its unique direction and meticulous execution. Judging by how Weapons is performing, it seems the Resident Evil movie is in pretty safe hands.
NVIDIA intros new RTX PRO 'Blackwell' workstation GPUs with RTX PRO 4000 SFF and RTX PRO 2000
NVIDIA has introduced new members of the popular RTX PRO Blackwell workstation GPU family of cards, with new SFF-compatible variants now launched.
The company has launched its new RTX PRO 4000 SFF and RTX PRO 2000 workstation GPUs at SIGGRAPH 2025 this week, offering top-tier performance that slots into a SFF system. The new RTX PRO 4000 SFF replaces the RTX A4000 SFF with up to 2.5x more AI performance, 1.7x more ray tracing performance, and 1.5x more bandwidth, all within the same 70W power envelope.
NVIDIA's new RTX PRO 4000 SFF packs 24GB of GDDR7 memory with ECC, 4 x mini DP 2.1 display connections, all in a compact form factor under SFF certification, meaning the workstation GPU can be installed and use inside of smaller machines.
Crimson Desert is delayed to 2026, prompting worries that it could be overshadowed by GTA 6
Crimson Desert, a sprawling open world RPG that many gamers are keenly looking forward to, has officially been delayed - and will no longer arrive this year.
At the end of last year, the release window was announced as late 2025 (see the trailer above), but as Gematsu reports, we've been told that the launch date has been pushed back to Q1 2026.
The disappointing news was shared as part of an earnings call, with a statement provided by Pearl Abyss before the usual Q&A session (that followed the fiscal results).
Resident Evil: Requiem to feature 'Last of Us' combat, vehicles, and open-level design
Ahead of the official gameplay unveiling at Gamescom next week, details regarding Resident Evil: Requiem have surfaced online, with a series of posts revealing what players can expect to be present in the upcoming title.
According to prominent Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem, Requiem will feature new lighting and shadow engines that will be accompanied by a new AI system that will react and behave uniquely in real-time. Moreover, there are more innovations, such as being able to switch between first and third-person camera angles in real time, and the hair engine from Pragmata.
Furthermore, Dusk Golem writes there has been an effort to make Raccoon City an open-level designed environment that can also support vehicles to travel around in, along with innovations in combat, which is reportedly similar to how combat is in The Last of Us games. As with all leaks, take the information with a healthy amount of skepticism, as it hasn't been confirmed and is subject to change. The good news is we won't have to wait long until the confirmation as Resident Evil: Requiem is going to be unveiled at Gamescom next week.

US authorities secretly place location tracking devices in targeted AI chip shipments to China
US authorities have been secretly placing location tracking devices inside of shipments of advanced AI chips and AI servers that are at high risk of illegal diversion into China.
In a new report from Reuters, it's being reported that the new measures have been enacted to detect AI chips being diverted through countries that are under US export restrictions, and apply only to particular shipments that are under investigation. This move shows how far the US is willing to go to enforce its chip export restrictions to China, and that's even with the Trump administration relaxing some of the US export restrictions to give China access to some advanced US-designed semiconductors.
The trackers are a decades-old investigative tool used by US law enforcement agencies, so that they can track products that are under export restrictions, including airplane parts. Trackers have been used to combat the illegal diversion of semiconductors in the past years, according to one of Reuters' sources.
Grand Theft Auto V adds full DLSS 4 support, achieves 500 FPS on the GeForce RTX 5090
The recent Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced upgrade and remaster updated the iconic title's visuals with ray-traced ambient occlusion, global illumination lighting, shadows, and reflections. GTA 5 is still one of the most played games on PC, so it's fantastic to see it enhanced with detailed in-game ray-tracing.
This week, it's getting another upgrade in the form of DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation and Frame Generation support for GeForce RTX 50 Series and RTX 40 Series owners. DLSS 4 also includes NVIDIA's game-changing Transformer model for DLSS Super Resolution, so this is a big win for all GeForce RTX owners, including those rocking a GeForce RTX 3060.
With the game maxed out at 4K, with all ray-tracing effects enabled, DLSS Super Resolution set to Performance, and Multi Frame Generation turned on, Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced achieves an impressive 485 FPS on the GeForce RTX 5090, 350 FPS on the GeForce RTX 5080, and 240 FPS on the GeForce RTX 5070.
