Qualcomm Snapdragon 845: 10nm, LPDDR4X, due in Q1 2018
Qualcomm will reportedly be shifting over to the Snapdragon 845 processor very soon, with some new details on what the inside of it will look like, thanks to new rumors from MyDrivers.
The upcoming Snapdragon 845 isn't expected until Q1 2018, but it will be based on the 10nm Low Power Early (LPE) FinFET process compared to the second-gen Low Power Plus (LPP) process from Samsung. In April, Ryan Lee, Vice President of Foundry Marketing at Samsung Electronics said: "With our successful 10LPE production experience, we have commenced production of the 10LPP to maintain our leadership in the advanced-node foundry market. 10LPP will be one of our key process offerings for high performance mobile, computing and network applications, and Samsung will continue to offer the most advanced logic process technology".
Snapdragon 845 is expected to rock four unannounced Cortex A57 cores alongside four low-power Cortex A53 cores, joined by Adreno 630 graphics. Qualcomm's super-fast Snapdragon X20 LTE modem will be used, offering 1.2Gbps speeds on Cat 18. Qualcomm will reportedly include support for UFS 2.1 storage, as well as the faster and more power efficient LPDDR4X RAM.

ASUS ZenFone AR with Google Tango comes this summer
It's been a long 5 months of waiting, but ASUS' new phone that is capable of both Google Tango and Google Daydream is confirmed to be launching this summer.
This phone is a big deal because it's the only phone to date to support both Google's AR and VR platforms. Not only that, but it does so in a significantly smaller device than the first Google Tango device from Lenovo.
While it is great that this new phone will ship with both Google's AR and VR platforms, there are concerns that it won't sell as well because it is shipping with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, one that's been shipping in phones for quite some time and has been outdone by the Snapdragon 835.

LG V30 expected to get Daydream support
LG's V30 has been rumored ever since they launched the V20 last year, more speculation started to come out once the G6 came out, especially regarding which processor it would run. Because the LG G6 runs a Snapdragon 821, the expectation is that the more premium V30 will run a newer and more powerful Snapdragon 835 processor.
However, in addition to the Snapdragon 835 processor, it appears that the V30 will also be capable of supporting or meeting the requirements to support Google's Daydream VR platform. This is a big deal because LG doesn't currently have a Daydream supported device.
One of the big reasons for this is that OLED displays are needed in order to meet Google's display performance requirements for Daydream.

HTC dethrones Samsung as best phone camera in the world
DXOMark, one of the photography industry's standards for image quality is also well known for evaluating the quality of smartphone cameras. They have been pretty fair when it comes to evaluating smartphone cameras, so it makes sense to trust their results. While DXOMark isn't necessarily the whole story when it comes to overall smartphone camera experience, they do provide an expectation of image quality.
Based on recent results distributed by HTC and talked about during their press conference, the new HTC U11 managed to dethrone the previous best smartphone camera, the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Panasonic is recalling 250,000 battery packs
Panasonic has been a leader in rugged computing, in fact they basically invented the category with their Toughbook series of notebooks.
However, as Panasonic has evolved as a company, their core competency has moved away from computers. This appears to be showing with the latest recall of 250,000 batteries that are commonly found inside of their rugged FZ-G1 tablets.
16 different reports have indicated that these Panasonic Toughbook Tablets have been catching fire between March of 2015 and April of this year, or two full years. 12 of those systems were in North America and one was in Japan, but there have been no reports of injuries.

HTC U11: Hands-on and first impressions
HTC has finally unveiled their highly-anticipated flagship, the HTC U11. Although we expected the U11 to be unveiled in April, a year after its predecessor the HTC 10, the company wanted to wait for its official 20th anniversary to launch the phone.
Ever since the HTC One, announced in 2013, there hasn't been much hype about the new HTC phones. In the world of smartphones, HTC doesn't represent what it used to. They are leaders in virtual reality with their Vive device. The company recently sold its phone manufacturing facility in Shanghai to boost their investment into their Vive virtual reality business. Although the company said the sale of the Shanghai plant would not affect its mobile division, it is clear in which direction the company is headed in.
Just recently, HTC announced that they marked an 18.03% decline in revenue this year compared to the last one. It seems that the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play sales aren't that great, and they aren't helping the company to get back on track. The two phones were launched in January, but many were left disappointed with the last year's processor and a steep price that can be compared to the price of Snapdragon 835 powered Galaxy S8.
