NVIDIA's RTX Super refreshes might be grabbing all the limelight right now, but there's a budget move afoot (in theory) that's much more under the radar with the old RTX 3050.

Rumors have been circulating for a while now about a new take on Ampere's RTX 3050 which has 6GB of VRAM (rather than 8GB), but a new leak suggests that the spec could be cut down more than just having the video memory reduced.

This isn't the first time we've heard theorizing that the RTX 3050 6GB might be reined in quite a bit, disappointingly for gamers on a budget, but the new specs here are quite a drop down indeed.

NVIDIA released its interesting, almost concept-style GeForce GTX 295 graphics card 15 years ago now... with sandwiched PCBs with dual GPUs enabling SLI on a single card back in 2009.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 with dual GPUs cost just $499 back in the day, which isn't bad for a ridiculous dual-GPU monster card. It isn't a monster today at all, with its GT200 GPU made on the older 55nm process node. Each GT200 GPU featured 240 unified processors for a total of 480 unified processors through the dual-GPU design, twice that of the GeForce GTX 280 and its single GPU.

At the time, the GTX 280 had its benefits -- from being a single-GPU card -- but the GTX 295 dual-GPU graphics card wasn't just two GTX 280s together. NVIDIA had a monster dual GT200 GPU sitting on the GeForce GTX 295, but the rest of the specs were knocked down between the GTX 260 and GTX 280 single-GPU graphics cards.

MSI had a few new GPUs to show off at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The good-looking chap above is the RTX 4080 Super 16G EXPERT, and we are in love with it. It just might be a shame or a crime to put a waterblock on such a beautiful GPU. Now, this GPU has MSI's ZERO FROZR tech to keep the fans from spinning until a load is present. When there is a load, the fans spin much like the Founders Edition of the RTX 4080/RTX4090 does, but with more static pressure.

This GPU also features a vapor chamber that covers both the GPU core and the memory modules, and then the heat is brought out via heat pipes to the fin array.

Now it's time to discuss the RTX 4070 Super 12G Ventus 2x White OC. Featuring a dual fan dual slot heatsink, which is quite a rarity nowadays. Featuring two of the Torx Fan 4.0, a copper baseplate, core pipes, and a reinforcing backplate rounds out list of features.

A fresh rumor has sprung up around NVIDIA's imminent RTX Super refreshes for its Lovelace range that suggests the RTX 4080 Super might have a little more pep in its step than previously thought.

The spillage was brought to the attention of X (formerly Twitter) users by I_Leak_VN and is supposedly from a presentation to Vietnamese retailers (as flagged by Wccftech).

The slide shown contains the full range of RTX 4000 models and pricing along with comparative performance and value calculations - add your own seasoning and don't go light with the saltshaker.

Here's some good news for PC gamers with a graphics card from Team Red - AMD's Fluid Motion Frames tech is officially debuting on January 24.

AFMF for short, also known as frame generation (as first seen with NVIDIA DLSS 3), the technology has been in preview for quite some time - since September 2023 in fact - but it's about to graduate to full release.

AFMF is frame generation at the driver level, so it can work across all games as a result, with caveats. Firstly, it's not going to give you the same results as FSR 3 (which incorporates frame generation, too, but does a lot more than just this - though games have to be coded to support it, of course).

While at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, we were invited to take a look at what ASUS had on display. Conveniently, both AMD and NVIDIA just announced new GPUs while at CES 2024. AMD launched the RX 7600 XT and NVIDIA the RTX Super series consisting of the RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and the RTX 4080 Super. So, let's take a look at how ASUS has up its sleeves.

The big boy, the Strix RTX 4090 BTF OC Edition, was a GPU that was not really talked about but is welcomed anyway. This version has a patented vapor chamber with a milled heat spreader for lower GPU temperatures. The real story here is the BTF (back to front) power connectors on this high-end GPU, which is exciting here with no visible need for the traditional 8-pin or 16-pin external power connections. The release date and the price are unknown.

Next up is the new TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super BTF White Edition. It's all about the white this year at CES 2024, and this GPU is certainly no exception. The TUF gaming cooler seems to just be a superficial paint job over the original TUF cooler. The BTF (back to front) part is what is exciting here again. Available Jan 24th, 2024. There is no official word on the price as of yet.

Intel teased that its next-gen Arc Battlemage Xe2 GPU is being worked on right now, with the GPU engineering team moving on from the Arc Alchemist Xe GPU architecture.

The news comes from an interview with Intel Fellow and ex-NVIDIA executive Tom Peterson with PCWorld on the ground at CES 2024, with Peterson confirming next-gen Arc Battlemage GPUs are in the works.

Peterson said that the next-gen Arc Battlemage Xe2 GPUs are on schedule for a 2024 release, with 30% of the software team already working on getting support for the next-gen GPU nailed for both discrete and integrated Battlemage GPUs of the future.

It's always great to see diversity in the look, feel, and overall cooling design in a GPU line-up - and with NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series making its debut at CES 2024, COLORFUL's line-up is impressive.

Here's what you need to know about the new SUPER GPUs for a quick refresher-improved performance and capabilities without increasing prices. Or substantially dropping the price in the case of the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER. The GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER offers 20% more CUDA Cores for faster-than-RTX 3090 performance levels. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER increases the VRAM capacity to 16GB while also upping the Core count.

Lenovo has just unveiled their new custom GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series graphics cards as new members of their growing Legion family of graphics cards... as well as a new GeForce RTX 4090 D Legion graphics card that should be headed to China.

NVIDIA recently announced its new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER graphics cards during its Special Address event at CES 2024, with AIB partners going nuts announcing new custom RTX 40 SUPER graphics card designs. Lenovo isn't far behind, with its own take on the new RTX 40 SUPER Legion graphics cards.

The new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics cards will be options for Lenovo's flagship Legion 9000K gaming PC. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER graphics cards will be available inside the Legion 7000K gaming PC. If you want to make sure you're getting the latest model, gamers will want to spot the "2024" in the product name to make sure you're getting the very latest from Lenovo.

At CES 2024, AMD announced a new GPU for its Radeon RX 7000 Series line-up with the Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB. Launching January 24 with an MSRP of $329, it's a rarity - a 1080p GPU with 16GB of VRAM. As exciting as that may sound, the extra VRAM (on a 128-bit bus) is more for content creation and AI than outright gaming.

Spec-wise, the new Radeon RX 7600 XT shares the same GPU and chip as the Radeon RX 7600 8GB - 32 Compute Units/Ray Accelerators and 64 AI Accelerators. In addition to doubling the VRAM, it also increases Clock speeds, which AMD advises will deliver faster 1080p and 1440p gaming performance than the Radeon RX 7600 in all games. Triple-digit max settings performance with upscaling and frame generation.

ASUS has announced that it is bringing two 7600 XT cards to market, the TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT and the ASUS Dual AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT. These OC models are "ready to unleash users' creativity in next-gen AI and content creation workloads."

NVIDIA's flagship GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card is now a scam for some customers, with HKEPC reporting that a new scam in the second hand market has turned up... counterfeit GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards.

The expensive and very fast GeForce RTX 4090 had at least one person spending $13,000 HK ($1660 USD or so) on a GeForce RTX 4090 that was... fake. The card looked fine, with the scammer showing off original photos of the graphics card with its RGB lights working and all.

But, once the card was received... that's when the person knew they were scammed. The fans didn't work, and get this: the GPU was missing. Yeah, the AD102 GPU that powers the GeForce RTX 4090 itself was gone. $1660 flushed down the toilet, as the buy has an expensive RTX 4090 that simply doesn't, and will never work.

NVIDIA's RTX 4090 had issues with melting cables that raised considerable alarm bells early in its life - gremlins that have still been reported fairly recently - so you'd be forgiven for being paranoid around this problem.

However, ASUS has come up with a solution in its new ROG Strix Lovelace flagship, albeit this comes loaded with its own caveats (more on that later).

The ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 BTF Edition doesn't have a traditional 16-pin power connector that hooks up to the power supply, and instead gets its power using a PCIe connector.

NVIDIA is ceasing production of its GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 graphics cards according to a leaker.

We were informed of the situation by the editor of German tech site Hardwareluxx, Andreas Schilling on X (formerly Twitter).

Schilling listed the official pricing of NVIDIA's new RTX Super refreshes in a tweet, noting that the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 were EOL or end-of-life.

The INNO3D GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER TWIN X2 arrived at TweakTown GPU HQ (that is my home office). Ahead of its full launch on January 17, we're able to share some shots and a short video showcasing one of the very first GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series GPUs to hit the market.

This MSRP model will adhere to the $599 USD price point for the new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, so there will be no out-of-the-box overclocking or over-the-top cooling. In fact, the physical design is almost identical to the INNO3D GeForce RTX 4060 TWIN X2 we reviewed in 2023; it is small, lightweight, and has a two-slot thickness that will suit small form factor gaming PCs.

With 20% more CUDA Cores than the existing GeForce RTX 4070 (7168), during NVIDIA's RTX 40 SUPER Series announcement, it said that this was enough to make it faster than the previous-gen flagship GeForce RTX 3090. It also has more AI Tensor and RT Cores for improved ray-tracing performance.

MSI has announced its full NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series lineup for the new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4080 SUPER announced at CES 2024. In addition to the new SUPRIM, GAMING X TRIO, GAMING X SLIM, and VENTUS cards, the company is introducing a brand-new design called EXPERT.

MSI's new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series EXPERT card(s) feature a "push-pull airflow design for enhanced cooling" reminiscent of NVIDIA's Founders Edition design - with one fan on each side of the GPU. Throw in Aluminum Die-Casting to give it a metallic look, Vapor Chamber cooling, and a new 'patented fan design.' It looks stylish and very cool.

There is no word yet on which of the three RTX 40 SUPER Series cards will be getting EXPERT models or if all of them will, so stay tuned for more details. If we had to guess, we'd expect EXPERT models for the RTX 4080 SUPER and RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.

The new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is the first of three new GPUs in the 40 SUPER Series set to launch, available on January 17. With 20% more CUDA Cores and beefed-up specs, it's faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 for 1440p gaming, using a fraction of the power.

Ahead of our full review (coming at a later date), we are allowed to present a first-hand look at the new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Founders Edition GPU - an unboxing! Similar in size to the RTX 4070 Founders Edition, the SUPER branding and metallic shroud are now in shiny black.

Putting the two RTX 4070 FE models side by side, the difference in look is immediately apparent, with the black metal giving the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Founders Edition a more rugged and sleek look.

NVIDIA revamped its Founders Edition design for the GeForce RTX GPUs with the GeForce RTX 30 Series, where it introduced one of the most stylish and unique GPU designs in years. From revamped cooling with intake and exhaust fans on each side of the GPU to an all-metal build with intricate fins, it's a look and design language that has carried through to the Ada-powered GeForce RTX 40 Series.

With NVIDIA announced three new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series GPUs at CES 2024, the company also confirmed that two of the three models (the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER and GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER) will be getting Founders Edition models. Sadly, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is missing out.

With a similar form factor to the non-SUPER models for these graphics cards, these new Founders Edition cards include the new 'SUPER' branding but with black colored metal instead of the various shades of grey seen in the non-SUPER editions and the 30 Series.

After several months of leaks, rumors, and official teases, the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series of GPUs has been officially unveiled at CES 2024. Based on specs, pricing, and performance, the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER all make a strong case for potentially picking up a new NVIDIA GPU.

NVIDIA is increasing performance without increasing prices - in the case of the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER (launching January 31), the price is being lowered from an MSRP of $1199 USD to $999 USD - a 16.7% decrease. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (launching January 24) replaces the existing $799 GeForce RTX 4070 Ti while bumping up the specs and the VRAM capacity to 16GB of fast GDDR6X memory for the same price.

And then there's the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER (launching January 17), which features 20% more CUDA Cores than the GeForce RTX 4070 to deliver "faster than GeForce RTX 3090" 1440p gaming performance for the same MSRP of $599 USD. And with that, the TGP is increasing to 220W compared to 200W on the baseline GeForce RTX 4070.

NVIDIA's RTX Video Super Resolution has been out for a while, which brought a DLSS-style AI upscaling to video playback for all GeForce RTX graphics card owners. After a few months out in the wild, it received a notable version 1.5 update in October 2023 that improved image quality while adding a de-artifact feature to native resolution playback.

As part of its CES 2024 presentation, where the company announced the new Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB GPU, AMD also revealed that the latest Radeon Adrenaline Software update is bringing driver-based upscaling for video playback using FSR technology.

In addition to this, the popular VLC video playback software is getting a Radeon-specific update in Q1 2024, adding FSR upscaling and hardware-based noise reduction.

At CES 2024, AMD announced a range of new products, from new Ryzen CPUs to a brand-new RDNA 3 desktop GPU in the form of the Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB. With 16GB of VRAM and a $329 USD price-point, it's positioned to deliver mainstream generative AI performance, content creation, and even gaming where VRAM workloads are intensive.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT is launching on January 24, 2024, and it also marks the date AMD Fluid Motion Frames leaves beta or 'technology preview' to become a part of Radeon's Adrenalin Edition software suite and its HYPR-RX package.

With Fluid Motion Frames as part of the driver, Radeon RX 7000 and Radeon RX 6000 Series owners can now enable frame generation globally in any DirectX 11 or DirectX 12 title.
