An investigation has been launched into a space object that crashed through the roof and both floors of a two-story house in Naples, Florida.

The object smashed through the roof of Alejandro Otero's home in Naples, Florida, on March 8. At the time, Otero wasn't home, but his son was. Notably, the home's Nest camera managed to capture the sound of the object crashing through the roof, with the time stamp being 2:34 pm local time (19:34 UTC). That timestamp is an important piece of information as it's around the time when US Space Command recorded the reentry of a space junk that was traced back to the International Space Station (ISS).

US Space Command recorded space junk reentering Earth's atmosphere at 2:29 pm EST (19:29 UTC), and this object was on track to land somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico, near southwest Florida. Furthermore, the space junk was depleted batteries from the ISS and was attached to a cargo pallet that was originally planned to be returned to Earth safely. However, due to several delays, the pallet missed its opportunity to be returned back to Earth, and instead, NASA decided to launch it from the ISS with the goal of an unguided entry. The launch occurred in 2021.

In the most recent episode of the PlayStation Podcast, which featured former PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, the number of PS2 unit sales was revealed to be underreported. Previously, unit sales for the PS2 placed the iconic console at approximately 155 million units, which was reported back in 2012, but now the official number has been revealed, and according to the former official, it's at 160 million units, a difference of about 5 million.

While that number may seem like a negligible difference, it makes all the difference when the Nintendo Switch is closing in on the crown with 139 million units sold. It's good to finally know a definitive number for the unit sales of the world's best-selling console, as previously it was rough estimations. It remains to be seen if Nintendo's handheld will break through the 150 or even 160 million unit sale barrier before Nintendo releases the successor to the popular handheld.

OpenAI has decided to make ChatGPT even more accessible than it already is, as users now don't have to make an account to use the artificial intelligence-powered tool.

TechCrunch has reported that starting today users will no longer have to make an account to access the world's most popular AI-powered chatbot, with the company behind the tool, OpenAI, telling the publication that the even freer version will use the same large language model as logged in users, but with some changes. Searching for chat.openai.com will now bring users to an open conversation with ChatGPT, but unlogged in users won't get access to the AI's full range of features such as saving chats, using custom instructions, and more.

Notably, users without an account will still be able to disable OpenAI using chats for training its model, which can be achieved by heading to the question mark in the lower right-hand side, clicking "settings" and then navigating to the disable data tracking toggle. Furthermore, the even freer ChatGPT will come with "slightly more restrictive content policies," which are seemingly not specified. Following the source code for Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V leaking online in December, a group of modders is attempting to get the iconic game to run on the Nintendo Switch, Android and Linux.

The fansite GTA Focal has reported a group of modders that took to X to share their progress on March 28 are attempting to get the 2013 game to run on the Nintendo Switch. The video posted to the platform formerly called Twitter shows the title in a loading screen that is repeatedly plagued with error messages. One video shows the Nintendo Switch running the loading screen and then multiple errors popping up, while the other shows a screenshot of an Android error message.

It should be noted that Grand Theft Auto V was originally designed to run on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which means the Nintendo Switch should have hardware powerful enough to run GTA 5. However, it isn't as simple as just plugging in the leaked source code into a different platform and then expecting it to work, as the Nintendo Switch and Android devices have completely different hardware configurations.

On the Radeon front, several credible sources have confirmed that AMD won't be releasing a flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX killer for its upcoming RDNA 4 generation. Instead, AMD is focusing on the mid-range and competitive markets.

TSMC chairman Mark Liu and TSMC chief scientist Philip Wong have co-written a new piece about the road towards a 1-trillion transistor GPU.

The two Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) executives pointed to the importance of advanced semiconductor packaging (CoWoS, SoIC, etc.) and the vital role silicon photonics will play in boosting data transfer speeds between chips. The two TSMC executives wrote that if the AI revolution is to continue at its current pace, "it's going to need even more from the semiconductor industry."

Within 10 years, the TSMC executives said we'll need a 1-trillion-transistor GPU, which is a GPU with 10x as many transistors as today. NVIDIA's new Blackwell B200 AI GPU has 208 billion transistors with a chiplet design, and two separate GPUs with 104 billion transistors per chip. 1 trillion transistors will be incredible to see roll out in front of our eyes over the next 5-6 years.

Intel had the Core 100U series powered by Raptor Lake-U, so it's a similar move by Intel with the Core 200H (dropping the Ultra name).

We've been covering all of the rumors for Intel's next-gen Arrow Lake CPUs, which are expected to feature Lion Cove and Skymont CPU architectures on the new chip. We've heard that the Arrow Lake-S desktop processors -- Core Ultra 200 series -- will NOT have any Hyper-Threading support, as they will lack LP E-Cores while tacking on a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for AI workloads, just like Meteor Lake has for laptops, Arrow Lake will deliver (more) for desktops.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has announced its developing artificial intelligence (AI) that is "trustworthy for the Defense Department" in making life-or-death recommendations to warfighters, said Matt Turek, deputy director of DARPA's Information Innovation Office.

At the Center for Strategic and International Studies event, Turek said that AI, machine learning, and autonomy are being used in "about 70%" of DARPA's programs in "some form or another." The push into the arms of advanced AI development is such a priority to "prevent an unexpected breakthrough in technology" or a "strategic surprise" by enemies that could be (probably) developing advanced AI capabilities.

DARPA is looking for "transformative capabilities and ideas from industry and academia," according to Turek; with DARPA getting these capabilities and ideas to various challenges teams from the private sector can win millions of dollars in prizes. DARPA recently held the Artificial Intelligence Cyber Challenge, using generative AI technologies including large language models (LLMs) to automatically discover and fix vulnerabilities in open-source software, some of which is used as critical infrastructure in the United States.

Remember in 2022 when astronomers snapped the very first photograph of the supermassive black hole named Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*) located at the center of the Milky Way galaxy? A team of astronomers have pointed their instruments at the region of space once again, capturing a new image of the enigmatic phenomena.

The first-ever image of the Sgr A* was captured using the Event Horizon Telescope, which is a global network array of radio observatories, and now astronomers have fired up that telescope again to measure the black hole's magnetic fields in polarized light for the first time. The image showcases a magnetic field structure that's strikingly similar to what astronomers observed in 2019, with the very first photograph of a black hole located at the center of the galaxy, Messier 87 (M87).

These results were published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters and suggest that these strong magnetic fields may be common to all black holes. Additionally, astronomer observations of M87 revealed powerful jets of material being shot out of the supermassive black hole, and these recent observations of Sgr A* indicate it could be releasing similar jets, despite Sgr A* being 1,000 times smaller than the black hole located at the center of M87.

NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) resulted in the asteroid called Dimorphos being shattered and knocked off its original orbit, a groundbreaking mission that proved Earth has the capabilities of redirecting an asteroid should one ever pose a threat to our planet.

NASA destroyed an asteroid and now it might collide with Mars

The test was more than successful with NASA being able to prove that a kinetic impactor is capable of changing the orbit of an asteroid, therefore changing its overall trajectory. For those that don't know, NASA launched a vending machine-sized spacecraft at an asteroid system that contained two space rocks, Didymos and Dimorphos.

Dimorphos, the smaller of the two, is orbiting its larger companion asteroid Didymos, and after the collision of the DART spacecraft, which was traveling at extremely high speeds, Dimorphos' orbit was reduced its orbit time around Didymos by 32 minutes and 42 seconds. Additionally, the impact resulted in Dimorphos' shape being completely changed. Now a new paper published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, details the possibility of pieces of Dimorphos entering Mars' thin atmosphere and making it down to its surface where it would create craters.
