Think Netflix search is rubbish? AI could save the day, as ChatGPT-powered search is now here

Darren Allan | TV, Movies & Home Theatre | May 7, 2025 11:47 AM CDT

Netflix is introducing a new generative AI search that allows viewers to surface shows they want using natural language queries.

Think Netflix search is rubbish? AI could save the day, as ChatGPT-powered search is now here

This is all part of a major redesign implementing a new home page (as flagged up by TechCrunch, via TechRadar).

That includes a more streamlined and modern design for the home screen, and shifting around some elements of the interface that were more hidden away to give them better visibility (namely the Search and My List options).

Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer footage wasn't captured on the PS5 Pro

Jak Connor | Gaming | May 7, 2025 11:31 AM CDT

The new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has been released, and it's safe to say the graphics on display are absolutely stunning, possibly even nearing to uncanny-valley level. But what piece of hardware was used to capture these cinematics? A PC or a console?

Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer footage wasn't captured on the PS5 Pro

Rockstar Games surprise dropped the second trailer for GTA 6 yesterday, and at the time of reporting, it has gained 75 million views in approximately 24 hours, falling short of the first trailer's record of 90 million views in 24 hours. However, the graphics on display in the second trailer supersede what we saw in the first trailer, with the cinematics that were on display highlighting the incredible work Rockstar has done in making GTA 6 look and feel as realistic as possible.

At the end of the trailer, it is briefly shown at the bottom of the release date frame that all of the footage was "Captured on PS5," meaning everything we saw throughout Trailer 2 was captured on a standard PS5, not even the PS5 Pro. This begs the question as to how good the game is going to look with the extra performance headroom on the PS5 Pro, and later, when it finally arrives on PC, as Rockstar will be able to take advantage of new, powerful graphics cards and their accompanying graphics technologies.

NVIDIA x MediaTek's next-gen N1X AI PC processor rumored for Computex 2025 reveal, 2026 release

Anthony Garreffa | Processors | May 7, 2025 11:11 AM CDT

NVIDIA and MediaTek will have their respective keynotes at Computex 2025, but rumors have persisted for a while now that we'll see a reveal of their collaborative project in codename NX1 and N1: new Arm-based AI PC processors.

NVIDIA x MediaTek's next-gen N1X AI PC processor rumored for Computex 2025 reveal, 2026 release

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will take the stage with its Computex 2025 keynote on May 19 at 11am local time, with MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai hosting his keynote exactly 24 hours later. The companies are expected to unveil the new N1X and N1 chips, both with Arm-based CPU cores designed by MediaTek, and GPU cores provided by NVIDIA.

In fact, NVIDIA recently unveiled its new GB10 chip for mini AI workstations, with both the N1X and N10 chips expected to be similar to the GB10, but slimmed-down on the CPU side of things. We've been hearing about the NVIDIA x MediaTek AI PC processor for a while now, with issues with the chip even reported causing delays, but it looks like we could have a Computex 2025 unveiling, with a launch in 2026 (most likely at CES 2026 in January).

AMD RX 7300 GPU appears in AIDA64, confusing the hell out of everyone - what's going on?

Darren Allan | Graphics Cards | May 7, 2025 10:30 AM CDT

An AMD RX 7300 graphics card has just been spotted as an addition to AIDA64, which is a somewhat mystifying move.

AMD RX 7300 GPU appears in AIDA64, confusing the hell out of everyone - what's going on?

What's going on here? Well, that's got a lot of people confused as you might imagine, but an entry for the GPU info relating to the RX 7300 is present in the latest beta release notes for AIDA64. It appears alongside NVIDIA's mobile RTX 5060 and 5070 graphics cards (and a couple of other GPUs to boot).

VideoCardz noticed this and theorizes that maybe there is actually an RX 7300 out there already, in some obscure corner of the computing world. We guess it's possible that somewhere in Asia an unknown OEM has this card in a PC, but we're not sure it's all that likely.

AMD's Client and Gaming revenue grew by 26% in Q1 2025, thanks solely to Ryzen

Kosta Andreadis | Business, Financial & Legal | May 7, 2025 2:58 AM CDT

AMD has posted its first quarter 2025 financial results, and with $7.4 billion in revenue and a gross margin of 50%, it's good news. The company's impressive revenue was once again driven by growth in the Data Center segment, which saw a first-quarter revenue increase of 36% year over year.

AMD's Client and Gaming revenue grew by 26% in Q1 2025, thanks solely to Ryzen

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su cites the company's expanding 'data center and AI momentum' as playing a key role in its continued success (this is the fourth consecutive quarter of growth). However, AMD's Client and Gaming segment seems to be doing well, too, with revenue up 28% year over year.

This covers AMD Ryzen products for desktop and mobile devices, Radeon GPUs, and hardware for consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S. However, AMD's Ryzen processors grew revenue here, with Client revenue growing by a massive 64% year over year. AMD's Gaming business, on the other hand, fell by 30%, even with the recent launch of the Radeon RX 9070 Series.

Did the new GTA 6 trailer just tease the PS6?

Jak Connor | Gaming | May 7, 2025 2:01 AM CDT

The GTA 6 trailer is raking in millions of views, and some viewers were quick enough to catch the console that was showcased at 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the trailer. A portion of those viewers believe they have found the first look at the PS6.

Did the new GTA 6 trailer just tease the PS6?

Searching "PS6" on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, pulls up a plethora of results of people screenshotting the console that was shown during the trailer and claiming to have found the PS6.

Are they correct? While I can't say for certain, they are most likely not, and for a few very good reasons. Sony hasn't confirmed anything regarding the PS6, and if it were going to release it teaser it definitely wouldn't be in the second trailer of GTA 6 as that teaser warrants its own separate video, not 10 seconds within a game trailer where it can easily be overlooked due to it not being the center of attention.

DLSS 4 comes to MechWarrior 5: Clans, New World: Aeternum, and more

Kosta Andreadis | Gaming | May 7, 2025 1:34 AM CDT

Another week, another big batch of PC games added support for NVIDIA DLSS, including DLSS 4 and the new Multi Frame Generation technology for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. Although it's not new, Piranha Games' well-received MechWarrior 5: Clans is adding support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation this week, alongside the release of the new Ghost Bear: Flash Storm DLC that adds a new story-based campaign and a bunch of new mechs to pilot.

Another not-new game adding DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation support is Amazon Games' New World: Aeternum, an action RPG that is kicking off Season 8 on May 13 with a slew of new in-game content and support for NVIDIA's latest DLSS technology.

Rounding out the DLSS 4 announcements is Spirit of the North 2, a beautiful third-person adventure in which you take on the role of a fox on a quest to restore the land and return home. It's out on May 8, and on day one, it will support DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation and DLAA for those looking to maximize image quality.

Intel Arc Celestial discrete GPUs, or Battlemage-next, reach 'pre-silicon validation'

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | May 7, 2025 1:06 AM CDT

Intel's Tom Petersen has previously confirmed that the company's next-gen Arc graphics architecture, Xe3 "Celestial," is effectively baked, meaning its specs, hardware, and other improvements have been finalized. He also hinted that the Arc design team has already moved on to Xe4. Xe3 "Celestial" is the successor to Xe2 "Battlemage," the architecture that powers the Intel Arc B580 GPU and the integrated graphics in the latest Intel Core Ultra processors.

Intel Arc Celestial discrete GPUs, or Battlemage-next, reach 'pre-silicon validation'

According to a new post on X from @Haze2K1, discrete Xe3 "Celestial" GPUs have reached the pre-silicon validation. This phase allows Intel and its partners to boot and test the new architecture before physical silicon (actual graphics cards) becomes available. Traditionally, this would mean testing power and frequency curves and emulating the hardware in various states. Reaching pre-silicon validation means this work is now complete.

This is a big step toward full production, but it remains to be seen what form Xe3 will take - will it be strictly for mobile devices and integrated graphics, or will it include a mix of mobile and discrete hardware? Time will tell, with TechPowerUp adding that if everything else goes well, Intel could be mass-producing discrete Xe3 "Celestial" GPUs by the end of this year or early 2026.

Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB listed by retailer, mainstream RDNA 4 will be here soon

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | May 7, 2025 12:32 AM CDT

The latest rumors and leaks have been pointing to AMD announcing its mainstream RDNA 4 combo, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB and Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, at Computex 2025 in a few weeks. The same reports also indicate a launch in the first week or so of June. This is right around the corner, so it's unsurprising that a retailer has already started listing Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB GPUs.

Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB listed by retailer, mainstream RDNA 4 will be here soon

Brazilian electronics outlet Terabyteshop did precisely that by posting a product page and listing for the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9060 XT GAMING OC 16GB. The physical design looks similar to the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 GAMING OC we recently reviewed, with three GIGABYTE Hawk Fans and 2 x DisplayPort 2.1a and 2 x HDMI 2.1b outputs.

The page, which has since been taken down (but not after Videocardz spotted it), also confirms that the Radeon RX 9060 XT will be powered by a single 8-pin power connector, even in 16GB form. The listing is light on specs, but with GIGABYTE's GV-R9060XTGAMING OC-16GD product code, we can expect this to be one of the launch models when the GPU debuts.

Intel XeSS is now available in over 200 games, and XeSS 2 adoption is ramping up

Kosta Andreadis | Gaming | May 7, 2025 12:04 AM CDT

Since its introduction in 2022 alongside the first Intel Arc GPUs, Intel's XeSS, the company's answer to NVIDIA DLSS, has reached a significant milestone. It's now available in over 200 games. The list includes several recent releases and popular titles like Civilization VII, F1 24, Marvel Rivals, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, and more.

Intel XeSS is now available in over 200 games, and XeSS 2 adoption is ramping up

Like NVIDIA's DLSS and AMD's new FSR 4, Intel XeSS uses an AI approach for its XeSS Super Resolution solution. With its new Battlemage architecture for mobile and desktop GPUs that debuted late last year, Intel XeSS 2 has introduced XeSS Frame Generation and Xe Low Latency to boost performance further. Adoption of XeSS 2 is still limited, but Intel notes that "adoption is picking up," with 19 titles now supporting XeSS 2.

With XeSS Super Resolution, XeSS Frame Generation, and Xe Low Latency to reduce latency, Intel notes that on the Intel Arc B580 GPU, Diablo 4 sees a 4X increase in performance, and Assassin's Creed: Shadows sees a 2.4X increase.
