Apple was originally slated to release its new M5-powered MacBook Pro laptops later this year, but new information suggests the company has delayed the launch of its new MacBook Pros until 2026.
In his latest Power On newsletter on Bloomberg, Mark Gurman writes that according to "people with knowledge of the matter", Apple is working on upgraded MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs, and that these new M5-powered laptops were to be released later this year, but Apple is "considering pushing them back to 2026".
The delay of the new M5-powered MacBook Pros and Airs is because Apple wants to get back to more consistent revenue growth following this fall's iPhone launch. Gurman explains: "After a pandemic-fueled sales surge in the early part of the decade, Apple has suffered from spottier demand the past two years. A slower rollout of new models - including iPads - contributed to the slump".
Apple is reportedly gearing up for a bunch of product releases in early-2026, including the all-new, slimmed-down iPhone 17 Air, redesigned iPhone 17 Pro smartphones, new entry-level and high-end Apple Watches, upgraded iPad Pros, and a faster version of its Vision Pro headset.

If the company does indeed delay its upcoming M5-powered MacBook Pros into 2026, it means that the M6-powered OLED MacBook Pros won't see the light of day until at least 2026, maybe even pushed back into 2028.
