AMD's Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9000 processors are apparently set to kick off pre-orders next week, and the top-end HEDT chip could run a lot more expensive than its predecessor.
Indeed, if this speculation is correct, the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9995WX CPU with a whopping 96-cores could tip the scales at $13,000.
The pre-order date of July 23 is what's listed by B&H Photo as flagged by @momomo_us on X (see the above post).
VideoCardz spotted that and while there aren't any prices listed yet - placeholder or otherwise - the tech site noticed an interesting trick to get an estimate of the kind of price we're looking at for these Threadripper Pro offerings.
By adjusting the price range in the search function and seeing which of the Ryzen Threadripper Pro processors appears, it's possible to get ballpark pricing, and as mentioned, the 9995WX looks to be $13,000. (It does indeed appear if you search for a CPU between $12,000 and $14,000).
That would represent a 30% price increase versus the MSRP of the 7995WX, but of course we need a heavy dose of seasoning with this guessing at price tags. However, we have seen this kind of price leaked before.
The July 23 release date requires some caution, too, but it seems plausible enough.
There will also be a 64-core 9985WX tipping up at around $8,500, and a 9975WX with 32-cores at $4,400. The most (relatively) wallet-friendly Pro CPU here will be the 9960X with 24-cores at $1,600, which is a more modest 7% pricier than its predecessor.
