As we all expected, Nintendo has announced another Super Smash Bros. Ultimate themed Direct, the live-stream will last for about 40 minutes and jam pack us with new information.

Final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct: Nov 1st, view here

As I mentioned last week in my article surrounding the 'completed roster' leak or the 'Grinch leak', Nintendo needed to have another Smash Ultimate Direct as there is just so much new content to go over and so little time before launch. The Direct that has been announced on Nintendo America Twitter account states that we will have about 40 minutes or so of brand new information regarding Ultimate.

The stream will be brought to us by Director Masahiro Sakurai and within this Direct we will most likely see a reveal of a few new characters heading towards a visible completion of the roster. Some of the characters that many Smash fans are expecting to

AMD CEO promises to be 'competitive in high-end graphics'

Anthony Garreffa | Video Cards & GPUs | Oct 30, 2018 9:47 PM CDT

NVIDIA has utterly controlled the high-end graphics space for a few years now, with AMD getting further and further away from NVIDIA's upper echelon of cards as time went on - especially the TITAN range of cards.

AMD CEO promises to be 'competitive in high-end graphics'

This has increased in strength with the release of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in March 2017, and the mess that was the release of the Radeon RX Vega 56/64 cards in August 2017. Since then, NVIDIA released a new TITAN Xp graphics card, and then just a few months ago the new GeForce RTX range of cards that has the flagship GeForce RTX 2080 Ti priced at $1199.

NVIDIA has the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, TITAN Xp, RTX 2070, RTX 2080, and RTX 2080 Ti all ahead of the fastest card AMD has in the Radeon RX Vega 64. AMD has been absent from the high-end graphics card space for quite a while, but in the CPU space they've absolutely dominated against an unstoppable and unlimited resources of Intel. In the graphics card space however, AMD has been absent from the enthusiast cards.

AMD Radeon RX 590 rumored to arrive November 15 for $299

Anthony Garreffa | Video Cards & GPUs | Oct 30, 2018 8:30 PM CDT

AMD's purported Radeon RX 590 graphics card will launch on November 15 according to the latest rumors, with the refresh of a refresh (Polaris 10 = RX 480, Polaris 20 = RX 580, Polaris 30 = RX 590) to be priced at $299.

AMD Radeon RX 590 rumored to arrive November 15 for $299

Polaris 30 will be on the new 12nm node with higher GPU clock speeds of the 14nm GPU used in Polaris 10 and 20, as well as increased power efficiency. We should expect a cheaper price than $299, but I'd say that's the ceiling of this card given the RX 580 is still priced at around $250 and can be purchased cheaper when deals are on or in second hard markets.

This isn't the first new mid-range card with NVIDIA silently launching a new GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with the same 6GB of VRAM but uses GDDR5X instead of the older/slower GDDR5 memory technology. The refreshed Radeon RX 590 is expected to still be using 8GB of GDDR5, however.

Former Radeon marketing boss joins Intel discrete GPU team

Anthony Garreffa | Video Cards & GPUs | Oct 30, 2018 6:47 AM CDT

It seems the vast majority of people that worked on Radeon GPUs is over at Intel now, or so it seems... with Intel's discrete GPU marketing department securing Darren McPhee who used to work for ATI before, and after they were acquired by AMD.

Former Radeon marketing boss joins Intel discrete GPU team

McPhee joined ATI in 2003 as their Senior Product Manager, climbing up to a Senior Marketing Role with Gaming and then onto Graphics in the end. Die hard Radeon fans will remember AMD's great marketing video in 'The Fixer' which was close to the launch of the Radeon 'Never Settle' bundle for the first GCN-based Radeon graphics cards like the Radeon HD 7970. Those were the days of AMD!

He later left AMD in 2015, and how now recently joined Intel's discrete GPU marketing team that Chris Hook (formely of the RTG marketing team) as well as GPU architect Raja Koduri and CPU lord Jim Keller. Intel is slowly growing out an amazing team of people leading into their first discrete graphics card launch, which seems more exciting than the stand still action of AMD and Radeon with gamers right now.

NieR: Automata's 2B screenshotted in Soulcalibur VI HD

Jak Connor | Gaming | Oct 30, 2018 4:00 AM CDT

Following up from yesterday's post, we have a tonne of screenshots provided by Bandai Namco surrounding the recently announced addition to Soulcalibur VI. Introducing 2B from NieR: Automata in glistening HD.

NieR: Automata's 2B screenshotted in Soulcalibur VI HD

Just a few days back we caught wind of a new addition to the Soulcalibur VI roster, Bandai Namco revealed 2B from the Platinum Games and Square Enix's title NieR: Automata. 2B debuted with a very cool character trailer where she went up against the not so warmly dressed Ivy. Now, Bandai has decided to release a tonne of screenshots for the android and when I say tonne there is truly a lot of them.

In the screenshots we can get a better idea of how players will be fighting as 2B and it appears that it won't be that much different from her organic combat back in NieR: Automata. From the screenshots we can see that 2B utilizes spacing to her advantage, with long swords and sweeping attacks 2B can pick and choose when she wants to get in close but still be able to deal damage from afar. She also has her pod support that will allow her to glide around her opponent and reach more advantageous positioning locations, which I'd imagine to be much faster than a typical fighter. In the entirety of this post you will find the screenshots.

Switch Diablo III datamined, reveals possible Amiibo support

Jak Connor | Gaming | Oct 30, 2018 2:00 AM CDT

The release of Diablo III: Eternal Collection is about to be upon us, and as Nintendo Switch users gear up for the Blizzard title's debut, one user has already datamined the game revealing possible Amiibo support.

Switch Diablo III datamined, reveals possible Amiibo support

Reddit user JustMaku got his/her hands-on the Eternal Collection before its launch and has managed to mine the game for its data. Maku has taken the data that has been collected to the Diablo subreddit, Maku then posted on the subbreddit claiming that the Diablo III: Eternal Collection will have Amiibo support in the form of three separate types of Amiibo's.

According to the Reddit post, the Diablo III: Eternal Collection will support the "Default/Generic Amiibo", "Treasure Goblin Amiibo" and a "Demon Amiibo." Maku further explains what each of these Amiibo's will do, "The first two will spawn a portal leading to some location (controlled by server so can't be datamined) while the demon amiibo will spawn a powerful demon on the map. To prevent abuse, there's currently a cooldown on each type of the summon." The Diablo III: Eternal Collection will be launching on November 2nd, for more information visit the official listing on the Nintendo eShop here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a 'work tireless hours' easter egg

Jak Connor | Gaming | Oct 30, 2018 1:00 AM CDT

The controversy surrounding the work weeks Rockstar developers was put under has been found as an easter egg within Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a 'work tireless hours' easter egg

Before the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar was put under the microscope a bit as Rockstar Studios' co-founder, Dan Houser made his development team work multiple 100-hour weeks throughout 2018 to complete Red Dead Redemption 2. Job J Stauffer, the co-founder of Orpheus Self-Care Entertainment even spoke out about his experience working at the company, "It's been nearly a decade since I parted from Rockstar, but I can assure you that during the GTA IV era, it was like working with a gun to your head 7 days a week." For more details on that story visit my article here.

Looking towards the above image now, we can see that "it is made by skilled laborers who work tireless hours each week and on the weekends for little pay in order to bring you the finest revolver in the field today." It seems that maybe a developer/s managed to squeeze in a little metaphor regarding their work weeks before official launch of the game. If not then this is just one mighty big coincidence, you decide.
