Command & Conquer and Red Alert being remastered for the PC

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Nov 14, 2018 5:19 PM CST

I can't believe that I'm typing this but EA has just announced Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Dawn are being remastered, alongside Covert Operations, Counterstrike, and Aftermath expansions are receiving remastered love.

Command & Conquer and Red Alert being remastered for the PC

The news gets even better with the C&C remasters being worked on by ex-Westwood developers that formed into Petroglyph Games. Even Frank Klepacki, the composer who worked on the music for the original C&C games and other Westwood classics, is coming back to work as the composer and audio director for the Command & Conquer remakes.

Command & Conquer co-creator and Petroglyph co-founder Joe Bostic said: "Here we are 20+ years later and EA has reached out to us regarding C&C. They had decided it was about time to revisit the original C&C games to give the fans what they had been asking for. Petroglyph has many former Westwood employees and is a perfect fit for bringing the original Command & Conquer games back to life. I'm excited to revisit the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert for our legacy fans, along with introducing the games to a new audience! Our battle-plan mission is to 'remaster' rather than 'remake' the original C&C games".

Game of the Year 2018 nominees: 6 games worth playing

Jak Connor | Gaming | Nov 14, 2018 3:00 AM CST

The 2018 Game of the Year nominees are in and this time round we have a selection of very well received titles from across a range of different fan bases.

Game of the Year 2018 nominees: 6 games worth playing

Some will remember the controversy last year about the nominations for Game of the Year. PUBG was just exploding and giving birth to what is now the Battle Royale genre craze, this earned it a spot in the 2017 Game of the Year nominations. Many people didn't like the idea of, what was at the time, a not completed game being in apart of the Game of the Year rewards. This year though, I don't think many people will be complaining with the games that have been selected to compete against each other.

The Game of the Year nominees for 2018 are the following: Marvel's Spider-Man for the PS4, Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2, Capcom's Monster Hunter: World, Sony Santa Monica Studios' God of War, Matt Makes Games' Celeste and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Odyseey. If I was to give my opinion on who will be taking this years Game of the Year, I would say it would have to be a toss up between Marvel's Spider-Man and Red Dead Redemption 2. Both titles sold amazingly well are renowned as some fantastic games in their own regards. Who will take first place though? I'd be putting my money on Red Dead Redemption 2.

The new driver should be of importance to GeForce RTX series owners with Microsoft resuming the rollout of its troubled Windows 10 1809 update that was broken from day one. This new update adds in DirectX ray tracing (DXR) abilities, which in turn enables RTX features for Battlefield V for GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, and RTX 2070 graphics card owners.

NVIDIA notes on the official driver download site: "Game Ready Drivers provide the best possible gaming experience for all major new releases, including Virtual Reality games. NVIDIA announces Quadro RTX 4000: Turing goes single-slot

Anthony Garreffa | Video Cards & GPUs | Nov 14, 2018 12:16 AM CST

NVIDIA made quite the splash with its Turing GPU architecture a couple of months ago now, unveiling a family of Quadro RTX graphics cards with Turing GPUs as well as a new range of GeForce RTX graphics cards, with both families continuing to grow.

NVIDIA announces Quadro RTX 4000: Turing goes single-slot

The company has just announced during the annual Autodesk University Conference its new Quadro RTX 4000 graphicws card that will join the ranks of the Quadro RTX 5000, RTX 6000, and flagship RTX 8000. The new Quadro RTX 4000 has quite a few highlights: there's 40% more memory bandwidth than the previous-gen Quadro P4000 card, with 36 RT cores for some real-time ray tracing content.

Inside, the Quadro RTX 4000 features Turing TU106 which has 2304 CUDA cores, 288 Tensor Cores, 36 RT cores, and 7.1 TFLOPs of FP32 performance. NVIDIA using 8GB of GDDR6 on the Quadro RTX 4000, pricing it at $900. The TDP is just 160W, 25W lower than the GeForce RTX 2070 which also packs the TU106 and 8GB GDDR6. This is because the GPU clocks on the Quadro RTX 4000 are lower than the GeForce RTX 2070, saving precious power consumption (and thus, less heat).

US rapper Soulja Boy announces his own... CONSOLE?!

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Nov 13, 2018 11:20 PM CST

Move over Microsoft and Sony, the Xbox and PlayStation consoles will have a new competitor with American rapper Soulja Boy announcing his own video game console while he was streaming himself playing Fortnite. Check it out below:

US rapper Soulja Boy announces his own... CONSOLE?!

Soulja Boy himself said during the Fortnite stream while holding up a console on camera: "I'm giving away my new console, that's right I'm coming out with own video game console". He announces that he will be releasing his own game, on his own console... without any other details unfortunately.

There's absolutely no details on this new console, and even Google searching turns up next to nothing official. But now I want to know what's inside of it, who is working on games for it, and whether he was just tripping balls the entire time playing Fortnite and is trolling the world.

Overwatch update adds Ashe, balances everything else

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Nov 13, 2018 10:35 PM CST

Blizzard has just updated Overwatch and baked in its latest hero 'Ashe' into the mix, a new long-range Damage Hero that sports a semi-auto rifle and B.O.B. which is Ashe's awesome Omnic sidekick. Ashe is connected to McCree, something you can see in the animated short below.

Overwatch update adds Ashe, balances everything else

Ashe has been playable inside of the PTR for the past week, but the new update that Blizzard has pushed out for Overwatch rebalances a bunch of the heroes. The developer has balanced my main; Mercy, with developer comments including "Mercy's ultimate was charging a bit too slowly after her base healing was reduced in a previous update. These changes should restore some of her ultimate's strength and let it build up more quickly".

Mercy's ultimate 'Valkyrie' has been tweaked:
